Major difference in BTs measurement of Internet us...

Since February 2015 I have, according to BT, been using well over my 10GB internet allowance per month.  This was reflected in my April bill, when I had to pay an extra £72.50 for this apparent extra use.  The meter on my computer shows figures at least one tenth of what BT are showing on MyBT.  The computer is not used for any film, music downloads or iplayer, only really for basic use, therefore there is no need for me to upgrade as my usage for the last seven years has been under the 10GB limit.
I have contacted the call Centre in India twice and despite promises to reply, my phone has a recorded message facility, nothing has been heard.  I have also written to the BT Communications Centre in Durham asking for my problem to be investigated and at least leave a phone message to record the receipt of my letters.
My computer is not wireless and has McAfee, Spybot and Malware installed.  The computer has been totally checked for deep-seated viruses.
In the meantime for this month (May) my meter shows 1.376GB used and BT's figure is 14.38GB.  Can anyone help me to find a way of contacting somebody in BT to at least discuss this situation, which appears to be a fault in BT's measuring system as occurred in January of this year?

Hi @dread456
Sorry maybe a silly question but do you have any other devices connected to your Internet connection?
Have you also tried talking to the Billing Live Chat team:https://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact/c/2902/?s_intcid=con_intban_sanda_contact_us_chat_from_forums

  • What's the Major Difference in an Ipad, Netbook and Ereader

I am totally technically challenged and need more information on the advantage of using an iPad. compared to my netbook and ereader.  I currently use my 3G.Wi-Fi Kindle e-readers and Acer Netbook. The Kindle is the basic black and white with the external typing key pad and so simple to use and excellent on the eyes for reading. I am an avid reader, and will. continue using it strictly for reading and to keep my books organized and stored in one place. I love the AT&T 3G easy access service and there is no additional monthly fees. And since I am totally computer illierate, I am unable to understand how to use many of the features and benefits on my netook. I primararily use it for email and internet functions.which is also with AT&T. However, my cell phone service is  through Version. I hope someone will help me know the difference and if one is better than the other since I have no idea which one to select.
I am considering trying  the New Apple iPad 16GB with the 4GB wireless capability and  9.7" screen. The primary reason I think I want the new model is because of the great reviews on the clear and easy to read screen.  I have been shopping for a while and it seems this New Generation 3 model Apple iPad is thas the best ratings but technology changes so fast, it will be something new before I can even get my first one. Also. I am not completly sure if I need the additional 4G wireless capability or more than 16 GB memory?  I believe that I have more than adequate memory on my nebook and along with  the additional storage for books on my e-reader,  I feel the 16GB will be sufficient. Although I do not plan on using  this special wireless service since the monthly fee is so high, I am concerned I may regret not buying the model with the option?. II am sure someone will help me with this decision.
Now, my primary question is, what are the major benefits from the iPad compared to my netbook and eareder? First and foremost, I need   the best and most user firendly.  And what specific options will I need to get the most use from the iPad.  And after I can learn to use the touch pad, I am sure I will enjoy the color, size and hopepfully be able to take advantage of more great  features. once I understand how it works.  What is the primary purpose and use that most people enjoy about them? I do not believe any of the small electroinc had quality sound and this is the reason I do not watch movies on them. And I do not know how to use the basic web cam on my netbook. But, believe taking pictures would be nice if it is not too difficult and there is not additional cost.  The sound on these products is never good quality and this is the primary I do not watch them to watch movies..
I am aware it  will not replace my netbook or my Kindle ereader. However, if I can learn to use to take advanate of the many great functions available, this could become my favorite ectronic device. Especially  if it is as user friendly as I hope it will be. I look forward to any information you can provide regarding which iPad and options I need to look for and consider when making this purchase. And after much research, I am convinced the new Apple to be superior to even the the generation 2. So, this is the one I am cirrently considering with 16 GB unless you can convince me why I would need more memory?
I may not know the best use or all the advantages and functions of electronics; however, I know just where to find the best information available. I have learned you  tech savvy users have so much wonderful information and knowlege that you so generously share. So, I look forward to your expert advice and information that will ensure I make an informed decsion prior to my purchase.
    Many Thanks and Best Regards,
    SunnyM

Thanks for the referrals. I am aware each product is a completely different device. But, I am hoping someone will provide some good personal reason they believe the iPad will be a good investment for me even though I do use a netbook and eraders. I am sure there must be what some believe to be difference they are also advantages. I have  general idea what each one does and guess I am trying to justify a reason to buy the ipad and then be able to determine which one is the best. The biggest draw back I had on the iPad was they require special appls and are not printer friendly. And never having used the touch screen, it may not be as great as I hope? I never learned to text message on my cell phone. But, I know how the touch screen works if it is a good one, I tried a Pandigital tablet once and hated the touch pad which did not work well and returned it and got the Kindle E-reader which has been the best little electronic investment I could have made, And nothing will take its place or that of the netbook either. But, courious as to what features I may enjoy even more on the iPad. It is all subjective but I am sure I will receive some helpful information along the way.
And I know it will determine the specific needs and different reason for every individual. But, I still am looking for those who will share why they prefer using their iPad and what their primary use. I am believe if I can learn to use the ipad and the majority of functions, I will enjoy the light weight and size and hopefully the touch paid will be easier to use. I think I just get tired of typing on the netook all day and having to keep it on my lap. I really wanted more personal resons why others enjoy them and even hear from those who do not like them and what they prefer.
So, thanks for you assistance and I will try and look up the information you provided tomorow. Have a wonderul evening.
    Sunny M
Also, I am interested in more opinions of how much memory and just how benefical the 4+ G Capability is and if it is worth the additional cost? And how to determine which Wireless Service to select. All of these are personal opinions from very tech savvy users who can help me what to expect or will be the major difference in the ipad or netbook?

  • Major differences between the iPhone and the iPod touch after SDK?

I was so excited to read that there will be apps available for the iPod touch soon - the only reason I haven't upgraded from my 30GB iPod is that I use the games all the time when I'm on the treadmill. Not having games available regardless of WiFi connection just wasn't going to work for me.
That being said, once the SDK comes out, will there be any major differences (besides the phone, obviously, and WiFi connection to internet vs. connection anywhere) between the two devices? I have one year left on my current phone contract, so I'm thinking I don't want to wait that long since apps will be available on the Touch soon.
    Any insight is appreciated!

    We have NO idea.
But, let's play for a minute...
    Touch will still not have:
    Phone
    BlueTooth
    GPS capabilities
None of which I care about, except maybe the BT, which is not there, so it doesn't matter.
Maybe a future version will have BT, but now, no.
So...if they do really open the Touch, it will be the same sans the above - which is great by me.

  • Major difference between WRT300N & WRVS4400N

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to wireless networking. I want to buy a pair of routers connecting my two sites (called them site A & site B).
At site A, I have two P4 class PCs & one PII PC. I used the 2 P4 PCs to browse internet. The PII PC had P2P application running continuously. I would like to put the PII PC in DMZ. The site connected to internet via 10Mbps link.
At site B, I have one PII PC also running P2P application running continuously. I intend to add one P4 PC running web cam services. I intend to put PII PC in DMZ. The site connected to internet via 10Mbps link
Most time I will stay at site A and need to access site B computers via VPN channels. I would like to share site A & site B's internet connections via Linksys routers and install wireless LAN adapters in the three P4 PCs.
I found WRT300N & WRVS4400N model may suit my needs. However, from the user guide found at Linksys web site, I saw no significant difference in their functionality and supported features --- I mean in 802.11x standard support, firewall & VPN functionality and intrusion prevention system support.
I would like to ask besides authentication & IP versions support, what are the major difference between models ? Do these models suit my requirement ?
Also, I found no figure stated in user guides or specification sheets telling how many wireless device could access the router at maximum ?
Besides, I would like to ask if another model WRT54G supports VPN functionality ?
    Thanks for help

hi , the major difference between the WRT300N and the WRVS4400N is ,
The WRT300N is a VPN passthrough....meaning this router will just pass the VPN traffic if the VPN passthrough is enabled or when u manually forward the VPN ports....same case wirth the WRT54G
The WRVS4400N is a VPN endpoint....meaning that you can use this router to create Point to Point VPN tunnels ....dedicated tunnels so your data is secure...
The authentication and IP versions support are the same on both models..
As far as the wireless is concerned.....each router will support a max of about 32 wireless clients...
let me know if you need any more information

  • Major Differences between Project Server and Project Proffessional

    Hi,
We are planning to use MS Project with SharePoint. In the initial research i came to know that we will need MS Project Professional to syn task lists on SharePoint. We are looking at a solution where all the Project Leaders (Across the world) can update
their project statuses online using SharePoint (right now this is being done manually).
I then came to know that we can access MS Project on SharePoint using MS Project Server. I am now not able to decide on which one to choose. So I want to know the major differences between MS Project server
and MS Project professional. Which one would full fill my requirements. I cannot limit my requirements to only updates. but also would want to add some extra features like Site Mail box and Project Issues log, so that my Project Management is more effective
    and is better.
    Please answer at earliest

    Srikar --
Microsoft Project Server 2013 is an enterprise project management (EPM) application in which all data is stored in a SQL Server database.  This EPM software application allows organizations to manage dozens, hundreds, or thousands of projects and
to manage dozens, hundreds, or thousands of resources as well.  To use Project Server 2013, your PMs would each need a copy of Microsoft Project Professional 2013 and would use this software to plan their projects and to save and publish the projects
to Project Server.  Your team members and executives would use their Internet Explorer to access the web-based user interface to Project Server 2013 called Project Web App, or PWA for short.
In PWA, your team members can use either The Timesheet page or the Tasks page to report progress on their task assignments.  In PWA, your PMs would be able to see the updates from their team members and be able to approve those updates.  Once
approved, the task updates are applied to the appropriate project so that the PM does NOT have to retype the updates.  For executives, PWA offers the Project Center page which shows the portfolio of published projects in Project Server, where they can
see the current status of each project.
Beyond this, Project Server also includes a Business Intelligence Center where your Project Server administrator can create very customized reports for various audiences.  In brief, there is a LOT of power in Project Server 2013.  If you think
you might want to use it, you have two options:  (1) Buy the software, install it yourself, set it up yourself, and maintain it yourself, or (2) contract with Microsoft to use Project Online, which is a hosted version of Project Server 2013 that is maintained
    by Microsoft in the cloud.
You can learn even more about Project Server 2013 at the following link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/project-portfolio-management-for-the-enterprise-project-server-FX103802061.aspx

  • I'm having major issues with battery life on my iphone 5 . When I'm on 3G my battery on lat 6 hours . But when I'm on edge network I get almost 8 hours usage and full day stand by . That's a. Major difference. But these phones were built for 3G and LTE .

The battery only last 6hrs complete with basic normal usage . I tried all the suggestions and nothing was helping. I finally tried switching off the 3G to EDGE and what a major difference in battery life . My phones last more than a day . I got so far 8 hrs usages And 25 hours standby . But that's phones were created to handle lte and 3 g why is it killing the battery life ?? How can I resolve this issue ?

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • What are the major difference between ssis 2008 R2 and 2012

    Hi,
We are planning to upgrade some of the packages from 2008 to 2012. If someone would provide a few insight then it would be great.
    Thanks,
    sarat chandra sahoo

The major difference that has come up in SSIS 2012 is a new deployment model called project deployment model. As per this package is no longer a basic unit but its the project. When you use this deployment model you can deploy project from Visual Studio/SSDT
environment directly to the server. The project in this case will get stored in Integration Services Catalog which uses a new db called SSISDB in the relation database itself. So in that sense its more closely coupled to database engine. Also you cant deploy
a single package in this case, it has to be complete project. The project also preserves the versions for packages so any time you can revert to one of the previous version if needed. SSIS Catalog doesnot use configurations. Instead there's new concept of
parameters introduced. Parameters can be defined at project or package level and this will help you to sent values from outside. You can also define environments inside SSIS catalog and created variables in it. This should then be mapped to parameters within
project/package and based on value you set for variables package will execute with values at runtime.
    See
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/ssis/ssis-2012-projects-deployment-configurations-and-monitoring/
Other changes include new tasks like exepression task, DQS Task etc and features like data taps which can be used for debugging data flow at runtime

In a Carrier Ethernet domain,Could someone please help me understand what's the basic difference between Access Switch and Aggregation Switch both in terms of s/w and h/w functionalities. MEF deals OAM,CFM, EVC provisioning only at the access edge switches. Do we need to repeat all these at the aggregation level? or  is it just used for routing purpose? Do we have a separate Fault Management at the aggregation level?

  • What are the major differences b/w live copy blueprint and Language copy of CQ ?

We are in process of creating a different Language Versions of a Website and trying to figure out the best/recommended approach.
what are the major differences b/w live copy blueprint and Language copy of CQ ? which one is recommended in which ? any pointers on this would be appreciated.

The language copy tool is a one-shot tool to create pages under a certain structure. It has a nice UI for it. But that's it.
The MSM blueprint/livecopy concept is much more powerfull, because it has live connections between the blueprint and the livecopy. It does not only allow you to easily create livecopies, but supports you also in maintaining the relationshop between these. So you can easily detect, that the blueprint page has been updated and needs to be rolled out again. Or that there are conflicts, because both blueprint and livecopy have been updated independently. And so on.
From my perspective the language copy tool should not be used, because with creation of language pages the "fun" has just started and the real work is just ahead.

    Hi,
If you talk difference than Talend is an open source. SAP DS as huge advantage when it comes to loading data into SAP and it is more flexible with lots of inbuilt features and easy to load data into SAP using DS directly and extracting data from various legacy systems.
