MAJOR Flash CC Bug

I just finished editing a Rich Media unit in Flash CC. The FLA contained a MovieClip that had a frame script that I needed to make a few edits to. Unfortunately FlashCC did not save these changes when I saved the file. When I opened the file again it had completely reverted to the origional version. I made a few changes again just to test, and was still unable to save the changes. Finally I opened the FLA in CS6 and finished the project successfully.
I remeber a similar bug when they introduced the ability to "Pin" frame scripts - changes made to the pinned scripts did not save. I wonder if this is something similar in relation to the new script sidebar.
In any case, be warned that your scripts may not save!
For the record, this FLA was created in CS6.

Hi Mike,
If the problem is reproducible with a fla then can you please share the same? It'll help us debug the issue.
Regards,
Dharmendra.

  • MAJOR Cover Art bugs in iTunes 7.x.x

Here are some interesting observations in discovering MAJOR Cover Art bugs in iTunes 7.x.x
    1. Importing CDs
If you import a CD, you must wait for complete import to finish in hopes that all songs will populate successfully with cover art. Even here, success is random.
If you request cover art during the import, there are mixed results.
iTunes should be smart enough to detect if any album exists with partial cover art in the library database, then those tracks with missing cover art will be automatically detected and updated.
    2. Missing Cover Art
    This occurs on 2 levels:
    a. iTunes Store may just not have cover art for some (older) albums
    b. iTunes Store does find the cover art, but it is not applied to *all tracks* on the album
    The workarounds bring mixed results.
I have resorted to the "Get Info" approach and pasted cover art to random album tracks where cover art was only partly applied by iTunes.
In other cases, I scanned in the CD cover and applied it to albums where iTunes found no cover art. I assumed this would be a one-time fix as I expected some minimal tweaking would be involved in managing cover art.
No such luck! Here is why iTunes cover art represents a MAJOR bug in version 7.x.x
Day 1: I spend many hours tweaking and fine-tuning the cover art, assuming iTunes will "save" all my work. I browse different albums/tracks and everything looks great!
Day 2: Looks like iTunes only "saved" some of this effort. Sure enough, certain complete albums and random tracks from other albums now show NO cover art! How frustrating!
    * * * Here is what is MORE DISTURBING about this Cover Art bug! * * *
I resort to thinking about more workarounds, and here are the results:
Hmmmm. Looks like if I paste in the Cover Art twice on certain album tracks, the Cover Art is now applied to that track. Meaning, if you do a "Get Info" on a track, you will see two pastes in the Cover Art tab, yes, you add the cover art twice, one cover next to the other so as to force that album track to get the cover art to attach. On the surface, this seemed to work, and all album tracks now seem populated with Cover Art and the effort appears "saved" when I revisit the album on Day 2.
But all is not what it appears. The trick of adding missing cover art twice, in the hopes that an album and/or certain random album tracks might adopting the cover art you are trying to assign will produce the following:
IT ACTUALLY AFFECTS THE AUDIO TRACK!!!!
Multiple attempts to add/fix cover art will ADD TO TRACK DURATION, such that when you play a track, the lead-in portion of the lyrics (say first 10 secs or so) will REPEAT in as many times as you tried to add the cover art!!!!
Thinking this might be a corrupt library database, I even deleted the database, started over, and while adding missing cover art, was able to reproduce the lyrics repeating on those tracks where the cover art was added (pasted) twice. You can HEAR and see the increased track duration in iTunes 7.x.x
MAJOR Cover Art bug!!! So you are not alone. And besides all the wasted hours trying to fix this, I say wait for iTunes 8.x
Please post and let me know if you have had the same experience with this cover art bug and similar workarounds.
C'mon Apple! PLEASE FIX THIS. What gives?

You can tell iTunes to "Clear Downloaded Artwork" to get rid of the wrong image.
Getting iTunes to select the correct image, especially for compilations can be quite frustrating. I've been slowly cleaning up some old artwork from when iTunes could not pull artwork from the iTunes Store for music from other sources. I've learned to check the album in question by using the iTunes Store link in iTunes - I figure if it goes right the the album I'm all set - Wrong! Today I'm doing battle with a bunch of "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection" albums. I can go through the album song by song and every one goes right to the correct album - but when I "Get Album Artwork" it still may not find the album or will pull in volume 2 instead of volume 1, etc. I've tried making sure my albums names are exact matches to the iTunes store with the same bad results.
It really seems like iTunes uses a different search method for artwork than for the iTunes Store link. At least Google has an image search...

  • Major font substitution bug in Illustrator CS5

    Hi all,
This took me a good long time to track down, and since I didn't find any information here and Adobe technical support was no help, I figured I'd post the result. Happy new year.
Here was the problem. Working in CS5, intermittently we would get font reflow issues. In addition, when going to edit the type boxes with font reflow, we would get the message, "This text was created in a different version of Illustrator. Editing the text may cause some changes to your text layout. Basic formatting will not be affected. Do you want to continue?" Please note it says "different version" rather than "previous version". These files originated and stayed in Ilustrator CS5! If we hit OK, the type would snap back to the original state!!! Worse, if the type was copied and pasted, or anything in character or paragraph styles was edited, it would snap back without ANY warning. Now you see it... now you don't. Major problem in any print environment.
So here is what I found, and this is a CS5 exclusive. If you are working on a file and have a font set open which includes a font from one foundry, and then opened another document and activated a font set with an identical font from a different foundry (the original font closing), the kerning for the original document (in the background now) would be set to zero (rather than auto) and the font would reflow. If you didn't notice the reflow, and saved the file, well it would create the condition as described above. Of course it isn't ideal to have the font foundry change like that, but bottom line usually you could get away with it... maybe with one or two characters moving slightly. In the new CS5 world, Illustrator decides you really don't need ANY kerning pair information and then helpfully tells you it was a "different" version of Illustrator that caused this. Heh.
What a mess. Bottom line, make sure your font management application is set to throw warnings when conflicting fonts are opened, and most importantly, leave the original font open! Do not allow the new font to be opened until the conflict is resolved.
If your font management application does not have this option (Universal Type Server 1 did not), you better upgrade or forget about using Illustrator CS5 in a heavy production environment.
Adobe, this was a major change and a major headache. You have some explaining to do...

Confirmed this is being generated entirely in CS5. I opened the font Sabon. I created a text box. I pasted in some generic type I had just made in text edit. I changed the font to Sabon and the paragraph to justify. I saved and closed the document and closed Illustrator. I closed Sabon and opened Sabon from another foundry. I opened Illustrator and opened the document. All looked good. I duplicated the text box over and outlined the type. I went into the font manager and closed Sabon. I opened the original Sabon. DING! Type reflow. I saved as a second document. I copied the outlined type and closed the document. I opened the original document (note the original font is open). No problems. I paste the outlined type (type outlined with the wrong version of the font active) and it lands exactly in place. I open the second document. The type that reflowed now gives me the stupid message about another version of Illustrator screwing it up. I hit OK and the type reflows back to the way it is supposed to be.
This proves that the kerning changes weren't due to differences between the fonts. This proves that Illustrator CS5 has a MAJOR type engine bug that could easily spell disaster in production.

  • Firefox Flash Plugin bug?

    Hi everyone,
I have multiple Flex Applications (wrapped as portlets in
Liferay) working on the same page at the same time in separate
    flash players, of course.
When I access the page by Mosilla Firefox browser, all page
portlets get reloaded after the last one is initialized.
And the worst - each of them gets initialized again - it
means that all data gets loaded again. This is proved by log
records: in case of Firefox each portlet loads data twice, in case
    of using IE - once.
Have you ever faced the same problem? Is it a Firefox Flash
    plugin bug or what?
    Thanks in advance.

    Updates:
I've opened a bug with Adobe regarding this issue:
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-4362
Also, the Cancel operation on a FileReference causes the same issue to happen as does loading.  I really think it's an operating system focus issue.
    UPDATE:
Looks like this has already been tracked and is scheduled to be fixed:

  • Flash CS4 Bug saving to external drive?

I discovered last week when teaching my Flash class that in saving FLAs to my USB drive, and THEN testing/publishing, the AS3 code was ignored in the resulting SWF?EXE files.  I duplicated the situation with multiple computers, mutliple external drives and multiple FLA files. I even tried it at differnt locations (home and campus). The problem is only related to CS4 with Actionscipt 3.  Both CS3/AS3 and CS4/AS2 test/compile as one would expect. Save the CS4/AS3 file to the internal C: drive and then test/publish everything works fine. Go figure! WHy would the save location make any difference? I thought perhaps it was a PATH environment variable issue, but putting the external drive path in the PATH statement caused no effect.
Here's the information I'm providing to my class tonight. Anyone else encountering the same? BTW, I upgraded to release 10.0.2 but to no avail.
    THE PROBLEM:
I think I discovered a pretty major bug in Flash CS4. When creating an ActionScript 3 file (with scripts written on the timeline) and saving the FLA source to an external drive (such as a USB thumb drive) and then testing (Control > Test Movie) or publishing (File > Publish), the AS3 code is ignored in the resulting SWF or EXE. If you save the file to the C: drive and then test/publish, it works fine. I tried this on several computers with several different FLA files and differing script, with several devices including a network drive – all with the same result.
I posted the problem to the ActionScript forum at adobe.com and contacted tech support (via email) but have yet to receive any useful feedback.
    SOLUTIONS:
OPTION 1: Save your FLA to the hard drive before testing. You can create a temporary folder on the desktop of the campus computers or should have access to C:\TEMP. So save your files there and at the end of you session, be sure to copy the files (both the FLA and any published files) to your USB for safekeeping. When updating your FLA, first copy it to the internal C: hard drive, then make changes and test, etc.
OPTION 2: AS3 code written to an external .AS file does work when compiled. But this really is beyond the scope of this class and adds a lot of complexity.
OPTION 3:  Use Flash CS3 – works fine in CS3, but of course you can’t use any of the cool new CS4 features such as new motion tweening, and inverse kinematics (IK bone structures).

    Susan,
Would the File > Archive Project do what you want?

  • Flash Player bug still not fixed yet ?

I had to do a system restore to get back to a working version
of adobe flash player - i put up with no flash for a week, but my
sister thinks I've downloaded a bug onto her machine because there
is obviously something up with this latest version of flash.
it says it's successfully installed, shows the little moving
picture etc. then you go on to myspace or jibjab or anything cool
with flash in it and it doesn't work.
Like I said I've had to use a system restore for the first
time in years as I guessed it was a flash bug pretty quick as I
    monitor my updates.
Anyone know if adobe are ackwoledging & fixing this bug ?
    - it would be handy to know when it is safe to install the latest
    flash player that works.
I'm not a techie so have no intention of poking inside my
machine or it's settings - just wierd how adobe haven't told
website that use the product that services may be affected - so
they can warn customers not to download the latest player until
    adobe have fixed the problem!

The same thing happened to me. I've tried so many things -
    but nothing works.
Just like you, I download flash, it installs successfully -
it seems - then I go to other sites and it doesn't work anymore.
Now I have to install flash everytime before I open up my browser,
then it works for a website or two - then it fails again.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I have a brand new Mac intel 15 inch laptop - newest
    operating software.
I have all my updates, etc,... updated & this is
    ridiculous.

  • MAJOR EDL Export BUG in 8.2!

I just upgraded to version 8.2 and now there is a major bug when exporting EDLs with audio clips!   EDLs (cmx3600 format) should only export Timecode In/Out for Source & Record.   The latest 8.2 version is now incorrectly outputting SAMPLE FORMAT for EDLS for any audio clips!  This is a major bug and potentially show-stopping.
    What 8.2 is exporting:
What it used to (and should continue to) export before 8.2:

with my PP 8.2.0 (65) Build, I get the same error with edl WAV audio clips until I 'link' video clip with audio clip below on the timeline
I believe after linking the video clip to the audio clip (below on the timeline), then exporting the edl, the timecode format displays properly
However, my edl export ability still needs work, because I would think my video timecode needs to match my audio timecode (for linked clips) so I am still working on importing the edl into Speedgrade and 'hearing' the audio
I was getting the same error audio text file as AjentJJ30, until I 'linked' video with audio,
so far my edl text file appears as below
    TITLE: edl with wav link

EDIT: as you can see my WAV file does not show the proper clip name, as well as not displaying the .wav file extension.
I chase after the edl displaying proper WAV data, but could not achieve any solid results. My dng video clips from the bmpcc have wav files, normally they do not import into Speedgrade with the dng sequence, so using the video clips to test the edl process isn't very helpful.
I can not get results to support having the WAV edl data working when importing into SpeedGrade.
    Sorry to think otherwise.

  • MAJOR iTunes 7 Bug (messes your tracks up!)

OK I think I've found a really major bug here. I've been trying to manually paste in artwork, while the track is playing and then iTunes then overwrites the track repeating the 1st 7 seconds of the song twice!!!!!
I've just tested it on Whatshername by Green Day, and copied the file out to another location for I would have an original copy.
    Original track details;
    File size 6172kb
    Runtime 3:39
    iTunes altered version;
    File size 6367kb
    Runtime 3:46
I can then repeat this for any other track I try and paste artwork into.
    HELP!!!!

Okay, we've investigated this issue further. Here's the situation:
We can clear artwork for MULTIPLE items when it is our OWN artwork that we manually imported. But when it's Apple's artwork that iTunes 7 automatically downloaded, it doesn't let you clear the artwork for multiple items all at once... you actually have to clear the artwork one song at a time.
This is a real pain, since iTunes doesn't always download the proper artwork!

  • Flash CS5 bug

My new installation of Flash CS5 acts very buggy.  Keyboard shortcuts stop working, and I can pick fill colors but not text or line colors - just have a gray box with a few horizontal/vertical lines.  Is this a known bug?  Is there an easy fix?  Closing and reopening the app fixes the keyboard shortcut problem, but then it returns.  Color choosing problem is persistent even after restarting app.

    Hi,
Regarding picking colors - it sounds like you have the alpha value for text/stroke color set to 0%.  When you open the color picker, please check that the alpha field is at 100% (or anything but 0%).
Regarding the keyboard shortcut problem - are all keyboard shortcuts not working or only some?
    Thanks,

  • Flash MX to Flash 8 bug??

Hello. I am trying to update a file (~5 MB) built in Flash MX
using Flash 8. Everything works fine with the file until I open the
actionscript window. The file totally slows down to the point the
hour glass shows up everytime I pick an object in the main stage or
select a cell in the timeline. Is there a bug in Flash 8? Is there
a bug in my actionscript? What can I do to solve this?
I do not want to rebuild the file or use MX since there is
some upgrades in 8 that solves some publishing issues I had with
    MX. Thanks in advance.

Big fla files generally are potential problems unless they
might just contain a single asset like a large image -- but still.
    Try save as
    Try save and compact
Perhaps the AS can be moved to a external AS file and you can
    use #include
If your scene 1 timeline is not too involved, then copy
library items to a new fresh Flash 8 fla and recreate the scene 1
    timeline.

  • Major Music app bugs w/ iTunes Match

I have iTunes Match and the Music app on my iPhone is almost un-usable.  Two major bugs are causing this:
    1.  Sometimes, a song will fail to play if it's not downloaded.  I'll have it on shuffle-all and a song will come up and the app will pause for a minute (as if it's building the cache, which is fine), but then the song will fail to play and the next track will begin.  If I go back to that song, it will immediately skip it.  The only way to play the song, is to download it manually (with the little cloud icon) and it will play fine.  HUGE pain in the butt when I'm driving.
    2.  More often than the first bug, a song will begin to play and when it get's to the 1-minute mark, it will skip to the next track for five seconds and then come back.  When it comes back to the original track the counter will start ticking, but no music will play.  The only way to get it to play again is to seek to before the 1 minute mark and hope it doesn't happen again (about 30% chance of getting through it).  If it doesn't happen at the 1 minute mark it will sometimes happen at the 2 or 3 minute mark (+/- 5 seconds).
    Is it just me?

Okay, so since I'm the only one experiencing this problem... is there something I'm doing wrong?  Is there a way to submit a bug report?

  • Is This a CS4 Flash Remoting Bug?

I think I have discovered a bug, but am looking for others to comment and maybe somebody knows of somebody else that has experience with this issue.
I have a very large flash app I am working on for a multi-user RPG game, it relies heavily on flash remoting via AMFPHP so that flash clients logged into the game may communicate with each other and the main game server which handles database storage, the game heartbeat functions, etc.
I have been developing the app on Flash CS4 for Windows and never have had any trouble, it works fine in the IDE environment when testing the movie and the published version works fine as well.
Now I have a Mac version of CS4 and I am getting some crazy problems running the app in Test Movie mode in the IDE.
After I start the app in Test Movie mode and run it for a few seconds all flash remoting stops working, the game continues to run and no error messages are generated but all of the NetConnection calls do no do anything, they do not connect, they generate no errors. Ok, thats strange enough but now, if I kill the Test Movie and rerun it via Test Movie no NetConnection calls are made and the initial .connect call does not go through, I have watched the server logs on the other end and no attempts to reach the gateway.php are made. This continues until I unload all of the .fla and .as files associated with the project and then reload them, and then it starts again, works the first time for 5 seconds or so and then all NetConnections stop completely.
So to summarize what I think is a bug specifically for the Mac platform of Flash CS4 Professional:
    1. Projects works fine in Flash CS4 for Windows
    2. In Flash CS4 for Mac, the project runs for about 5 seconds in Test Movie Mode and then all NetConnection activity stops
    3. No errors are generated for the NetConnection
    4. Continues to fail even restarting the project until I close the files and re-open them in the IDE
Sounds like a bug, does anybody know of others with this problem, or does anyone have anything I can try?
    Thanks,
    Andy

The application doesn't hang but the TextBlock ends up on top the Button when you set its Text property. That's why you cannot click on the Button.
If you set the Text property of the TextBlock in the XAML markup you won't be able to click the Button when you run the app because of the same reason:
    <TextBlock x:Name="OutputMsg" Text="sample text"
    Margin="0,200,0,0"
    HorizontalAlignment="Center"
    FontSize="18" />
The solution is, like you have already discovered, to put the TextBlock in the StackPanel so it ends up
below the Button and not on top of it in the same Grid.

  • Flash counting bug?

This is part of a bigger project, but I've tried to simplify
    the problem.
    My basic logic is:
Start with a variable (_root.lapZ) and set it to 0
Action 1: If the decimal point is 0.0 then add 0.2 to it.
Action 2: If the decimal point is 0.8 then add 0.2 to it.
Action 3: If the decimal point is 0.6 then add 0.2 to it.
Action 4: If the decimal point is 0.4 then add 0.2 to it.
Action 5: If the decimal point is 0.2 then add 0.2 to it.
Action 6: Go back to action 1
In theory, this should continually add 0.2 to the variable
    lapZ forever BUT it doesn't!
If you start at 0, it fails to add any more after 0.6! If you
start at 1.8 if fails to add more after 2.4
Below is a simplified version of the script I'm using to
calculate the decimal point and the loop of if/then statements:
    decimalP = _root.lapZ-Math.floor(_root.lapZ);
    decimalP == 0 ? _root.lapZ += 0.2 : null;
    decimalP == 0.8 ? _root.lapZ += 0.2 : null;
    decimalP == 0.6 ? _root.lapZ += 0.2 : null;
    decimalP == 0.4 ? _root.lapZ += 0.2 : null;
    decimalP == 0.2 ? _root.lapZ += 0.2 : null;
I found this making a small flash game a year ago while
detecting how far around a track the car had travelled (5 hit
tests) and having just purchased Studio 8, the bug still appears to
    be there.
Any ideas? Is my logic wrong, or is it a bug?

binary computers do not store exact decimal numbers. what you
think is 0.2 might be 0.2000000000000001 in your computer. when you
test if this number is exactly 0.2 the result is false.
