Major flaw in htmlcss output.

Hi
A tabular report. The data section has a black line color around it to form a border/grid lines.
All the cells have the left border removed, then each cell is moved over one arrow click so text does not line up exactly on the border line.
now in the report writer tool, looks fine, in PDF looks fine, but in HTMLCSS, it draws the removed left border line, making an odd double line, and it postions the start of the text right in the middle of that left line that should not be there.
My feeling is that this highlights a fundamental flaw in the product. My recommendations to oracle is to understand Cascading Style Sheets, level 1, and to understand the pitfalls of absolute positioning at such a fine level.
Meanwhile,a manually drawn in line would be a work around, but because the report is grouped, the lines only draw at the end of each grouping. So, I can find no workaround, except to not have the lines, or never allow the report to be HTMLCSS
Thanks,
Brent Parsons

We are seeing the exact same issues with HTMLCSS and absolute positioning. Very Very slow in browser or email if over 10 pages. I believe the answer is to create a jsp version of the report with custom HTML Source code. This will take some time to figure out and we have little of that. Anyone have an example of creating HTML output with out absolute positioning? Perhaps a tutorial on how to apply the report definition to the HTML Source similar the excel fix?

  • Is there a major flaw with Iphoto in regards to organizing and backing up?

Is there a major flaw with Iphoto in regards to organizing and backing up? And how should I proceed??
Here is my story. I have moved roughly 15,000 photos from 7 computers (4 PCs and 3 Macs - basically everyone's computer in the family) onto one external hard drive. The photos were taken by many different digital cameras, are sparsely labeled, and have the most random names and folders. There are a LOT of duplicates. MY MISSION - label and back them up.
The way I normally deal with photos/DATA is this: I plug my camera into my Mac and immediately think about organizing and backing them up. With "Preview" I look at photos (and decide which one I like), create a folder called "where-ever I took these photos" and drag them into that folder. The problem with Iphoto is that you have no ability to control folders, unlike many other applications.
For example, in Itunes you can rename an artist, or even an album, and it will automatically appear in an updated folder. If you alter a photo in Photoshop, it makes you save it is a new file. In Iphoto you cannot make the same "root level" changes without making duplicates. From what I understand, you can place photos into an Album and then export that album (which makes duplicates). Iphoto will rename each duplicate file and then place it in the correct folder. The problem here is I have no idea where the original is to delete it.
Basically I want to create folders called "Trip to Italy 2003" or "Rachel's Wedding" and place all the photos associated with that event in those folders. The problem I run into is that I have a bunch of duplicates. I have heard of a program called Duplicate Annihilator which has gotten favorable reviews. If I import them into Iphoto all the photos are placed in random named folders. I say random because some of the photos were taken on cameras that didn't have the date set correctly. Hence some of my photos will appear in a labyrinth of folders called "Modified / 2001 / Roll 17 / DCM482 / Image25874654.jpg"
I am totally willing to wipe my Iphoto library clean and start again if there is a way to organize the photos as described above. Eventually I will take these folders and save them on a data DVD.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
    Gary

You do not need to delve into the folders within the iPhoto Library via the finder to access any photo. That is all done within iPhoto itself. If you need a photo for use outside of iPhoto read Terence Devlin's treatise on file access. iPhoto is a DAM application - Digital Asset Management, not a folder manager. There's a big difference. You can use keywords, album and smart albums to organize your photos.
If you still have the original files you might consider what I do. I rename each file with the date it was taken using the international date format: YYYY-MM-DD-001.jpg. You can download the demo version ofMedia Expression and automatically rename each folder of photos with the EXIF date and a sequential number. This makes chronological searching and sorting much easier both in iPhoto and the Finder.
If you want to not only manage the photos but the folders then Expression Media will let you do both. It will let you rename files after being imported into a catalog, move them between folders, add ITPC metadata to the files, create virtual albums called Supplemental categories, and much, much more. I use it as my primary DAM and iPhoto for special projects like books, slideshows, calendars, etc.

  • Major flaws of Windows Phone 8

    Leuven, UTC+1, Nokia Lumia 920, Amber + GDR3.
I have been a consumer and professional iPhone user for many years and still do with a 4S containing about 200 apps. However in April 2013 I decided to try an alternative OS and bought the Nokia Lumia 920  (GDR 3 in the meantime) which I now have been using for about 8 months together with my iPhone. Thus I can compare both builts and OS's.
I should like to summarize my conclusions about the OS and the Lumia as follows after using the phone quite intensively and installing more than 150 apps:
The design is one of the best and most original I have seen.
The hardware is extremely shock resistant (it fell one day from 3m high on cobble stones!)  and allows wireless charging, unlike the competition.
Nokia does a great job in offering own apps with regular updates however some major apps are still missing : such as Flipboard and others. Also apps on WP8 are missing a lot of features of same apps on IOS. Trust this will be a matter of time..
The display is a delight to work with, definitely white on black with gloves.
WP8 overall and live tiles are a refreshing element compared to IOS and Android.( definetely when you pin Google contacts on your home screen!)
However although I love the device and might even buy an upgrade to Lumia 1020 at a later stage, since I love the above par camera and related apps,  I am getting seriously frustrated by a lot of unacceptable flaws in the present state of the OS which I feel are completely unacceptable and a shame for Microsoft.
Processor speed is below par or the OS is not optimizing it and as a result starting up apps and browsing photo's takes to long compared to GS4 and iPhone 4/5S. Resuming, loading.....
Downloading of mail attachments takes to long and one can not see the progress !
One has to repeat clicking for downloading pictures in mails.
No sound confirming sending of mails !
The built-in Calendar app is below par and has a major flaw since the change to Caldav : when adding attendees to an appointment the calendar does not sync anymore with the Google calendar which is still way better than the outlook.com calendar who is missing many features which I am using in Google. (colors, more details, locations, etc..) No solution found yet even after trying 4 alternative Calendar apps !
Another problem which I solved by roaming the internet is the fact that when using automatic date+time setting  the appointments in the Google calendar showed up one hour earlier due to a bug in the Caldav procedure of Microsoft which ignores the DST. I solved it by using West Central African UTC +1 timezone which does not use DST !!
It is impossible to add photos to the outlook persons tab in outook.com which forces me to continue to use the Google contacts syncing.
    No notification or control center..
Obviously professional users won't have to suffer a big part of these bugs since using Exchange servers, Outlook and Office 365, but the millions of consumers in the street will suffer the same frustrations, definitely if they find out that their new Outlook account is not on par with Gmail and IOS.
Steve, do me a favor before you leave, solve these problems if you want WP8 to conquer the world of smartphones.
    Cheers

  • Major flaw in Identity Firewall?

    Hi!
I have just configured identity firewall on our ASA 5510.
I have 3 nodes that authenticates against Active Directory, using the Windows Server 2008 R2 builtin Network Policy Server:
A laptop, a stationary PC, and a Android Phone. All 3 nodes are authenticated using the same user/password.
Now, in ASDM -> Monitoring -> Properties -> Identity -> Users, I can see two of the nodes with my user name attached to it, namely the laptop and the stationary PC.
    But not the Android phone.
Then it dawned on me. To set up the ADAgent properly, you have to apply 2 group policy entries. Unfortunately, those 2 entries are applied to the Computer Configuraton part of the Group Policy!!
This means that your COMPUTER has to be a member of your domain for USER IDENTITY to work.
    Err. hello?
So my Android phone and other nodes not a member of the AD Machine Store will never be detected by identity rules, and can roam the network free.
If this isn't a major flaw, I don't know what is.
Unless, of course, there is something I have completely misunderstood.
Please tell me that I have.

    Hello,
For devices that are not joined to the AD domain, the IDFW feature supports learning username to IP mappings via VPN or cut-through proxy authentication. The configuration guide describes this type of deployment:

  • Dreamweaver cs5 MAJOR flaw

Dreamweaver cs5 has a major flaw
When 'related files' is turned on (a feature we are paying for!) and a webpage has code similar to the following in the header
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
At first launch after quitting, it takes dreamweaver between 1 and 2 minutes or more to open one web page.
This is EXTREMELY annoying and unacceptable for software which costs so much money.
Many designers use jquery now and may of us link directly to the latest file or jquery library.
What's the point in having a related files facility if we have to turn it off in order to use Dreamweaver with jquery or any other external files!!!!!?
    Adobe?

If you download a copy of the JQuery file and put it in the local site that should stop that issue.
What operating system are you using?
Where are your local files kept (what folders)?

  • WARNING! - Multicam has MAJOR FLAW in Premiere Pro CS6!!!!!!

When you are using Premiere Pro CS6, and you are editing a multicam sequence and you hit PAUSE or STOP, Premiere CS6 makes a cut in your timeline and then changes shots back to the original shot whether you want it to or not!!! This forces users to go back and fix the un-intended cuts later which is a HUGE time waster. The thread below was started tracking the issue and then suddenly LOCKED by Adobe with a FALSE correct answer as the issue is NOT fixed! The answer is only an attempt at a workaround which DOES NOT work for everyone as pointed out in the thread and the thread should NOT have been locked as the MAJOR FLAW still persists and has persisted for years. Final Cut Pro, Avid, FCPX do NOT have this issue. Premiere Pro CS6 does.
    This is the thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1069438?tstart=0
Premiere Pro CS6 is a nice editing program BUT it has a HUGE time-wasting flaw that makes editing multicam sequences VERY frustrating for many users and that still persists as of version 6.0.3. Please start by UNLOCKING a thread that is NOT resolved. The issue is NOT fixed and still persists as of October 2012. Marking something as the "correct answer" that does not work for everyone is unacceptible and only avoids the real issue that has been around for years as pointed out in the original thread started back in 2010. Please unlock the thread until the issue is resolved so the issue can be discussed constructively until its resolved!

Please don't double post.  The content of the thread you referenced contains all the information that is needed to work around the issue.  Thread locked.  If you start additional topics for the same issue, they will be deleted.

  • MAJOR Flaw or Bug in the Video iPod

    Hey everyone,
I believe I have found a flaw or at least a bug in the Apple 60 Gig Video iPod.
If you play a movie on the iPod it will not let you shut down the unit until you play a song, going back in to the menu screens does not help.
Here is the scenario, you have downloaded a movie to your iPod and you play it, you pause the movie and try and shut down by pressing and holding down the play/pause button and nothing happens.
You go back to the main iPod menu and again you try and shut down the unit by pressing and holding down the play/pause button and again nothing happens.
The only way you can get the unit to shut down it to play a song, then press and hold down the play/pause button and it shuts down.
I have tried this on 3 different 60gig Video iPods and they all do it.
Now what I have found out is that if your iPod is in a Video dock so you can play it on your TV the iPod works, if you press and hold the play/pause button it shuts down right away like it should.
I called Apple tech support about this and they had no clue, they had me reload the OS back on to the iPod and of course that did nothing.
You guys should really try this on your iPods, I think Apple has a bug with these units and I hope that it is not a hardware issue and something that can be fixed via a software update.
iPod 60 Gig   Windows XP Pro

Ok I have more info on this for you, I am playing a DVD that I installed on the iPod it is 615Meg Mp4 file, it plays perfect no sync problems at all.
I have timed it and I have to wait 2 min and 30 sec before I can turn the unit off once I stop the movie. Now if I play that same movie in my video dock, I can shut down the iPod instantly without having any wait time, I can even shut down the movie while it is playing without having to go back to a menu.

  • Adobe PS CS3 has major flaws in Print Dialog. Beware!

    System Specs:
    OSX Leopard 10.5.2
MacPro 3.2ghz with 32GB of ram 1.5GB Video
    Epson 11880 Printer
Samsung XL20 LED monitors calibrated using EyeOne Pro 6500k 2.2 and 120c/d
I have been trying to build a custom profile for my new Epson 11880. However, my results have been unsuccessful. All my prints came out super dark. The color is all off except for the grey scale.
After talking to Epson for hours I found out that the new Beta driver for the printers have a problem, so rolled back to v3.89. This fixed all printer problems. So printer is fine now. This also applies to the Epson 3800.
Spoke to Apple about their color management and Leopard issues? No fault found on the OS.
Ran a test using preview, iPhoto, EyeOneMatch, Photoshop CS, and CS3. I couldn't find my CS2 disk so I didn't get a chance to test that. preview, iPhoto, CS, and EyeOneMatch all came out with same results when printing a 9.18 target without PCM. However, CS3 printed the image dark and off color with the exact same settings. Problem has been persistent and I would like to conclude that CS3 needs to fix this bug in their software. It is ridiculous to be printing using another software because CS3 can't do a simple task as print.

    viewing conditions are fine.
I have the whole room outfitted with GTI D50 lights. What can I say I am anal. No matter where you stand the light will hit 5000k. I change the bulbs out every 1500 hours although they tell me I can wait until 2000 hours.
My monitor is also calibrated properly. I am using the Samsung XL20 and XL30 monitors, which surpass the Eizo or any other LCD's on the market. I've owned the Eizo, NEC, Artisan, and any other monitors you can name. I also made sure my Spectrometer is fine and it is.
When printing targets with the setting set to NO Color Management in Photoshop it should yield the same results as the other applications. The only thing you are technically utilizing then is the printer driver and dialog box. Yes the printer dialog is always same and set properly also. PCM is set to no color management. I've tested this with other applications and it is CS3 that is giving me all the problems.

  • Major flaw in iTunes 10!

Imagine my chagrin when I went to play the Beatles "Let It Be" in the original order and found out I'd have to have the original order written down somewhere and the play the songs one at a time! There's no option anywhere to put the songs in the original order. Bummer!
I've forgotten where I'm supposed to go to request a feature such as this from Apple. Can anyone tell me what the URL is? I definitely would like to suggest they add this feature to Apple, though I doubt I'll see it for a long time, if ever. Can't hurt to ask though, can it?
    Thanks!

iTunes will let you show or hide various fields and sort by them. Nothing needs to be written down, it just needs to be visible if you want to sort on it. Many of the fields that you can sort on, such as track name, result in something other than the original track order.
In Cover Flow, for example, make sure Album is visible and click on it to sort as *Album, Album by Artist* or *Album by Artist/Year*. Tracks will play in order.

  • Download iOS 5.0.1 major flaw!

Hi, why after 2 attempts of trying to download 5.0.1 from I tunes (aprox. 1.5gb wasted) I see on the iPhone that it is only 55.5 mb, but ITunes it's 812mb!!!!!!! I just lost a lot of my data plan!!!!! And to top it off, I don't have wifi so I can't just use my phone. This it the stupidest thing I have ever herd of!!!!! Soo not impressed Apple!!!!!!  55.5 mb but you NEED WiFi, really :@

When downloading and installing the update direct with the iPhone, it is an incremental update/install only.
When downloading and installing the update with iTunes, it is not an incremental update over the existing.
And yes, you need to be connected to an available wi-fi network to download the update. If not, the habitual whiners of the world with a limited data plan would come unglued whining about how the incremental update used so much of their unlimited data plan, and those doing the same by accident or on purpose when roaming internationally would have a big bill for the download.

  • Major Flaw in Android Software allowing easy security breach - when will update be available?

Which Samsung phones are vulnerable? Is the Galaxy S6 included? Thanks,

I spent more than an hour this morning speaking with tech support, tech support manager, network support, inquiring about a fix.  They say they have to go through a convoluted series of step the get a patch out.  "We get the patch from Android after it has been tested in my case by Motorola." then we can push it to you."  Asked whether AT&T has requested a patch from Motorola, the network support person asseted that he has no knowledge one way wr the other. (note: I did not record the conversation so this may not be an exact quotation, it is the jist of what I heard.)  I am now address the question with Motorola, and will have to check out CyanogenMod to see what they are doing.,

  • No Sleep/Wake Option is a major flaw

I just retired my Blackberry in favor of a new IPhone 3Gs / OS 4. Blackberry had an option to turn the phone to sleep at a predetermined time and wake the unit up at another predetermined time so that we could get at least a certain amount of uninterrupted time to sleep without the phone or e-mail alert systems going off at 3 AM. Some of us that may get emergency calls must leave the phone on, but the e-mail messages at any time of night can be really annoying.
Apple has not incorporated such a feature which means we either turn the entire device off manually or we are forced to leave it on to be awakened at any time of the late night or early morning when anyone or company decides to call, send an e-mail or message.
ATTENTION APPLE: PLEASE ADD FEATURE FOR PROGRAMMING SLEEP/WAKE PROGRAMMED TIMES IN FUTURE UPDATES OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM FOR IPHONE SO WE MAY HAVE AT LEAST A FEW HOURS OF UNINTERRUPTED SLEEP DURING THE NIGHT.

Apple doesn't read these boards--tell them here:
    http://apple.com/feedback
Although, people have been asking to schedule various Profiles like that since the original phone was released, and Apple hasn't listened yet. So if this is a dealbreaker, you should probably return the phone rather than hoping it's coming soon.
Your description of why you need this isn't really making sense, but you can turn the alert sound for Mail off manually, that may help. There is also a Silence button.

  • Another newbie discovering the MAJOR FLAW with language reset

I was just using my Nano for the first time and the language reset itself to some Asian hieroglyphics which I cannot undo. I have tried to follow the instructions to restore the original settings via "update" download, but on the Apple site, I only get a "no new updates available" message. What now??

The procedure is not "update", it is "restore to original settings" (just below in the same screen).
Read the warning, you will loose all your music.\
An option is to find blindly the settings menu and change the language; hint: Menu, Menu (to get to top menu), next to last is Settings, select, language is 3rd from bottom to top (next to next to last) the last one is "reset settings" by the way, first language in the list is English (but that should display in something legible anyway).

  • Found a major flaw with Apple Configurator 1.4

I have just upgraded to the new version on my personal machine to give it a test and found a problem when managing apps on an iPad. In the previous version I was able to upgrade an app on the device to a new or previous version without removing any of the documents within the app.
In version 1.4 it seems this isn't possible. The only way to change the app version is to manually delete the app from the IPad directly and then use configurator to put the required version on. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if the documents contained in the app weren't 3/4GB in size.
This seems like a huge step backwards. Replacing an app version on 10 devices took 20 seconds in the previous version and now it's likely to take 25 minutes or more. Not very conveient when you have to change it on 135 iPads. I certainly won't be updating Configurator on the rest of my machines.
If someone has the same problem and has fiound a workaround, please share. Otherwise I would hope that a fix to this issue will be implemented in an update.

    Hi Dan,
A fellow Configurator user just posted this to collect a list of issues with AC v1.4

We will all be adding to the list.
