Major green artifacts all over MPG2 encoded video!

Please help!
I am trying put four 7 min. movies on four separate DVDs. When I encode my QT files, my MPG2 files are covered with giant green artifacts - so much so that in some places almost half the screen in green!
I have tried working directly from my timeline into Compressor and working from an exported QT movie into Compressor. I tried both 'fast' and 'best quality' DVD MPG2 settings.
What can I do???

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I took my files to another system, re-compressed all frames using Animation, and had no problems. I think my prefs or RAM may be bad on my computer (bleh), but at least had another station to work with.
FYI - I also downloaded BitVice, an alternate encoder, and the test worked great. I would have bought that package, had I not been able to find an alternate FCP station.
Cheers

  • All my puchased TV Shows Play with small green dots all over the screen!!

    Hi Everyone,
After installing the latest version on Itunes from System Update all my videos play covered with little green dots... Whats up with that??? Also I usually down load two epesodes of LOST before watching because one just isn't enough. Well aside from having little green dots all over the screen one of my Lost episode wont play at all... "Par Avion". It shows up in my Lost folder under TV SHows but it doesn't show up in my Purchased items. When I click on it it wont open either... However the lastest LOST, "The Man From Tallahassee" shows up and will play?? Itunes Store says I have all my down loads but I have not seen and can not open episode "Par Avion"..... Damm So this is a two part problem. Little green dots and the episode that wont open... HELP!@!!!

only way I found to fix it it is selecting each episode 1 at a time in order and syncing after each one.
    Season 1 episode 1
    sync
    Season 1 episode 2
    sync
    etc.
    what a pain
Edit. Actually seams to work if you select each individual episode in the order you want sync'd and then sync.
Syncing a whole season still results in a jumble

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Whenever i watch a video in youtube, if i switch into fullscreen, have to buffer it all over again. any video is like that. need help

i watch a video in youtube innormal screen (small) ,but when i switch to full screen, it have to buffer it all over again. need help

This is because when you switch to fullscreen, youtube switches to higher resolution and discards the low-resolution buffer. It has nothing to do with Firefox. See this article for possible solutions: http://www.gtricks.com/youtube-tricks/full-screen-deletes-buffer-maximizing-problem/

  • Pumping and jerking artifact in the DVD encoded video

I don't why understand I get this issue. After having done a DVD encoded file of my movie in Compressor, I get an artifact effect on a certain kind of scene (2 actors dialoging with a country background). I get the background (lawn grass, tree leaves) "pumping", like it was jerking...This unwanted effect appears  only on these 2 scenes of the film (the same scene repeated 2 times). And it is random, that is every time I make the DVD file I get the effect in a different point of the scene. All the rest of the film is fine.
Any idea on which can be the reason of this issue?
P.S. You can view the effect in this clip (the resolution is poor respect to the original, but you can view the artifact effect, maybe watching it in full screen)

I tried to change "Field order" to Progressive (it was "Same as source"), but nothing changed:

  • Flickering Green pixels all over 21" Apple Cinema Display is getting worse

Has anyone ever had this problem before? I have a 5 year old, not overly used 21" Apple LCD Cinema Display. Just recently, it started having these tiny flickering green dots but only on black fields. Now it is getting worse. I am now having the same problem only this time, additionally, its red on white fields. It goes on and off intermitently. Sometimes, my monitor would just turn GREEN especially after viewing some photos. (I think this monitor was made in Mars or something)
What is causing this problem? Do I need to get a new monitor or can I still have it fixed? Please help.

There seems to be a couple of threads on this issue, including:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1954716&tstart=0
In my case, the severity of the flicker varies with what is trying to be displayed. In screensaver mode, for example, there is no flicker unless I choose to display photographs. Problem is also quite severe when I'm in Aperture; less so in Safari.
I've had the same problem with two separate graphics cards so it must be the cable or the display.

  • I get green lines all over screen on iPad 2

I don't know how to fix it, it just happened a couple of days ago.

    1. Try a reset. Press and hold the power button and the home button together until you see an apple logo.
    2. Try resetting all settings. On the ipad, go to settings > general > reset > reset all settings.
    3. Restore the ipad. Open itunes in the computer and connect the ipad. Your ipad name will be listed to the left side of the itunes, below "devices". Click on the ipad name, and now to the middle of the screen, you will find the restore button. After the restore is complete, select the option "restore from backup"
    4. Restore it again and this time, select the option "set up as a new ipad".
If none of the above works, unfortunately, the ipad needs to be repaired/replaced. You can either take it to an apple store nearby or call Apple care to set up the replacement.
    Hope this helps.

  • Rented movies have floating green square spots all over screen

We have a new Sony KDL-52W4100 connected to our v1 Apple TV via HDMI at 1080p. Cable images std and HD look great, DVD and Blueray look great, all functions of Apple TV (photos, intro, menus) look great. Rented TV shows and movies have large floating green squares all over screen. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
This sounds like the file is either corrupt or there is an issue with output from the tv. Firstly, I wasn't aware that tv v 1 software supported 1080p, I suspect you are either running v 2 software or you don't have 1080p as an output resolution.
I doubt all your rented movies have become corrupt so I'd be looking at your HDMI connection as the source of your problem, have you tried another cable, is it seated properly. You should also be aware that 1080p requirers a category 2 HDMI cable (although in many cases category 1 does suffice)

  • Videos export with purple/green artifacts/splotches/flashes with Media Encoder CC but export fine with Premiere Pro CC?

I use Premiere Pro CC to edit videos, and videos render fine when I export through Premiere Pro, but when I try to use Media Encoder CC, the video exports with weird splotches of green/purple artifacts all throughout. It almost looks like the video is glitching and having a seizure of green and purple. No idea why this happens. Could anybody help me? I use Media Encoder to export bulks of videos at a time through its queue feature, which is why I prefer to use Media Encoder for video exporting.
    Please and thanks.

    Mitch,
I was hoping that you and others might have some insight as to whether the purple and green artifacts / splotches seen in the attached screenshots (taken from 4 consecutive frames here but occurring through the entirety of the clip) could possibly have resulted from exporting video with ~ Premiere Pro CS5 or 6 ? As seen below, these splotches alternate back and forth between purple and green in every consecutive frame. I was also hoping that someone might know if this is a relatively common type of artifact and how it is caused.

  • Media Encoder green artifacts

I met a problem when I encoded a video with Media Encoder (I work with Adobe CS5.5 on Mac) : at first, when I encode a video on Premiere Pro, the rendering is OK. But when I want encoding this video with Media Encoder, some green artifacts appear on the video. I don't know why. Can you help me ? Thanks for anything help.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for answering. Below here some details :
I work with Premiere Pro sc5,5 (I updated 5.5.2 version after recommendation. I did it too for After cs5,5 and Media EncoderCS5.5, but without improvement). I run with OSX 10.9.5 (MacPro 5,1).
Graphism : ATI RADEON HD 5770 1024 Mo.
    Processor :  2 x 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory :  16 Go 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Here's the problem : when I export my video with Media Encoder at from of Premiere Pro timeline, a video exclusively made on After Effects with the plug in ELEMENT 3D (from VIDEO COPILOT), the export is (long but) well and the video is clean. But when I want to use this new exported video with Premiere Pro ( I usually do this when I have a big sequence with a lot videos. In fact, I use this "process" to avoid a long calculation of my computer ), it appears some green artefacts on it. Artefacts (below) which not appear when I looking at it with Quicktime, for instance..
This is the first time that I met this problem.

Also experiencing some funky issues with my wireless keyboard. With new batteries, it will just stop functioning. Certain keys intermittently won't work. Also the fans go on as soon as I turn the computer on - some times they stay on and sometimes they don't. Ever since upgrading the operating system - I've been having many issues with this iMac. Not happy. Any answers out there?

Thanks for your reply LexSchellings, There is no disc in the drive and I went through the suggestions you put forward on the phone with Apple support without any luck. I can put a disc in but it pops straight back out again without registering on finder.
The idea of using an external drive was to enable me to avoid the cost and loss of productivity whilst machine in repair... if I have to take it in to get the old drive removed than I might as well have a new internal drive put in, although I do worry about the reliability of these apple drives given my experience with this one coupled with my limited online research ... on line forums seem to be full of people with the same problem (although perhaps searching such forums is bound to make it seem a common problem as users with perfectly working machines are less likely to post (?)) Your reply suggests that no external drive will work whilst the existing drive is in place.
As a postscript: I do realise that this is a user forum ...my secondary question was asking if anyone knows how to put forward a case/complaint to Apple... I can't find a link on the support page that would enable me to do so and I was wondering if anyone on this user forum had any ideas/experience..

You can't do this yourself; if desired, you can ask the iTunes Store staff if they'll do it, but they probably won't.

  • When i open my computer I get the white screen with apple symbol and there are vertical lines all over the screen with green pixels and after a few minutes the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer what happens

3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.
Can somebody advise me on this matter. Thanks in advance

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green. The computer froze with these pixels, so I shut it off and restarted it, and there were this green lines everywere. So I turned it off, and the next day I turned it on and it began to work just fine, but suddenly the same thing happened again, and when I restart the computer again there are these green and some red pixels everywere.
I've read 10.7.3 is giving people many problems, but I never saw that it gave one like this. How can I fix this, or what will Apple do to fix this problem they caused me with their update.
    Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

I have Final Cut Studio V1 - the PPC/Intel V5/5.1 cross-grade version, which would suit your requirements perfectly. (I have it for sale at present down here).
If you keep looking, you're sure to find a similar second hand copy in your area, without the need to upgrade your graphics card.
I'd go for Final Cut Pro as above over any version of Express. FCP has the full version of LiveType - not the truncated version that was released later on.
