Major iCal disfunction. Weekly view doesnt load up at all.

I see iCal in the tool bar but but the program doesnt load when i click it in the dock. I try to open it from the tool bar and i dont get weekly view at all. Daily and monthly views come up but they are obviously seriously disabled and non funtioning. Basically MY ENTIRE ICAL HAS BECOME CORRUPTED. I tried reloading OSX. Any suggestions would sure help.

Hi,
If you are not seeing the weekly view, it is probable that your iCal preference file is corrupted.
In your user's Library > Preferences find a file called com.apple.iCal.plist and move this to the Trash and restart iCal.
Post back if this does not fix your problem.
Best wishes

  • Publishing Ical in weekly view with start time I want

I have my Ical set up to start at 11am and end at 9pm. When I publish my calendar it still shows start time at 7am on weekly view. How do I publish my Ical with the start and end times I want?
    Thanks

    epee91,
What setting do you have in System Preferences...>Language & Region>First day of week:?

  • ICal Printing - "Week" View

    Running
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    2008 MacBook
Trying to print from iCal: File -> Print.
My "Day", "Month", and "List" views all preview and print correctly.
The issue is with my "Week" view. For whatever reason, it doesn't cooperate.
I've included screenshots for more information.
    Please advise.

i know exactly what you're talking about. I've been having the same exact issues you've listed, plus more. my repeating appointments (my semesters worth of classes) shift an hour back or forwards, but only after certain dates. its a whole bunch of weird stuff and it also only happened after Snow Leopard. i also sync via mobile me to my iphone, and the incorrect times push onto my iphone. anyone heard of this or solutions?

  • ICal 2 week view

    Hi,
Does any one know how do I set a double week view on iCal?
It would be much better to see 2 weeks at the same time on iCal...
I have the Snow Leopard os.
    Thank you,
    André

You mean minimize like sending it to the Dock?
If so, I'd start by deleting iCal preerences in you User folder ~/Library/Preerences/com.apple.iCal.plist

  • No times appear in events on ICal in weekly view

After I upgraded to Mountain Lion my ICal no longer shows the event times when I use the week format. The times appear in list, day. and month however. I checked preferences and the box is checked to show times but does not show in the event.
Is there a setting I am missing or is this a bug in the new OSX?
It is difficult to see the event time when scanning my calander for the week

I don't think it will make any difference, but delete ALL the com.apple.iCalanything.plist files in that folder. Use Font Book to verify the fonts (Helvetica.dfont HelveticaNeue.dfont LucidaGrande.dfont) used by iCal.

  • Anyone know how I can print a two page weekly view from ical

    Hi there.
I'm trying to print (from my ical) a weekly view into a Franklin planner page. i would like to print a week into two (side by side) 5x8 pages. Anyone have any idea? Can the iplanner app do this?
    Thanks!

After playing with the settings, it doesn't look like that's possible.
My thought is that you could try the 8x10 size and cut it in half. But since you probably don't have 8x10 paper lying around, you could try doing it as a PDF.
Try this: (Mac OSX Leopard only)
Set up your print options in iCal, choose the 8x10 paper size, and press "Continue." Then, instead of choosing "Print," click "PDF" and "Open PDF in Preview."
From here, you could print it on regular letter size, and trim it down for your book. Or photocopy it onto your 5x8 paper.
I know that's not ideal, but you know, it's an option.

  • ICal Week View

I have been using the "week view" in iCal for years now and today I can no longer view my iCal in weekly view?  Any ideas?

    Hi,
I suggest you go to  ~Library/Preferences/ (where ~ is the path to your User's Home folder) and move the file com.apple.ical.plist to your Desktop. Then re-start iCal.
    Best wishes

  • ICal Week view acting strange

Hi. Is is just me or iCal's week view is acting really strange under Snow Leopard? I just upgraded to 10.6.2, and the problem continues, so I decided to post here.
The problem is the following: when iCal is in Week view, showing 7 days per week (as opposed to 5, workdays), I can scroll just a couple of weeks forward or backwards before it goes crazy. Sometimes it shows 6 or 5 days instead of 7 in the top of the window (but a different number of days in the appointments area itself, so that it appointment is shown between two days), sometimes it stops scrolling, sometimes an appointment appears to be in the wrong date (a birthday in 22-oct appears to be in 21-oct in week view, but appears in the right date in month and day views).
The problem only manifests itself when preferences are as following:
    - Days per week: 7
    - Start week on: Sunday
    - Scroll in week view by: weeks
Any other combination makes it work fine (unfortunately this is exactly the way I wanted it to work...)
I have submitted this problem to Apple as a bug report, but got no answer (not a surprise here...). Is anybody else having the same problem? It is making me crazy not to know whether this is specific to me and my machine or a general bug.
    Please advise!

  • No days or dates in weekly view

Just recently my iCal in weekly view hasn't shown the days of the week and the dates either. I have gone thru everything in the prefs and the menus and cannot find anything to bring them back.

It appears that that is a change in '11

  • Show ALL all-day events in week view

I am looking for a way to see ALL all-day events in iCal's week view. By default, it only shows up to two and a half events, and to see more you need to scroll. What's more, you don't see an out-of-view marker, so you don't always know you need to scroll. This is most annoying.
The same goes for timed events in week view. You do not get an out-of-view marker, so you don't know you need to scroll. This is inconsistent with the Cal app on the Mac, where you do get an out-of-view marker (a small line in the colour of the out-of-view event).
Is there a way to fix these issues in iCal? Or is there an iCal alternative that offers these things? I am basically looking for these things, each of which is a possible deal breaker for me (and I find it hard to figure out if iCal alternatives offer these basic functions):
    Week view.with out-of-view markers.
Week view showing ALL all-day events.
Icon that shows the date (in the icon or in a badge).

I'm not sure how this got in the iPhone forum. I seem to recall posting in the iPad forum, but I may be wrong. Anyway, it's iCal for iPad I'm talking about, even though the same issues exist on the iPhone.

  • Show date in week view

Is there a way to show the day and the date with iCal in week view? It seems quite a huge omission!

    Nathan,
I am using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) what version of OS X are you using?
This is what my "Language & Text" preference pane looks like:
It appears you are using Mac OS X Lion. Try Language & Text>Formats>Region:

  • Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?

Hi, Im not a frequent forum poster, as most of my questions can be found already answered on them!
This is a question Ive had for a long time and it amazes me that no-one else seems to ask it. I check at each OS upgrade but its never there...
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
I was able to do this years ago in MS Outlook, and utilized it all the time when I needed to push things back, now I have to open the event and select an new date in the drop-down calendar for each & every event I want to move to a new month at the end of the month.
If its definitely not possible, how to you ask apple to consider including it - it doesnt seem like a particularly difficult task.
    Thankyou
    Andrew.

    Andrew,
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

  • View iCal's day and week view in reverse chronological order

    Greetings iCalers,
When I think about day/week calendars, with the Y-axis being times of the day as in iCal's day/week views (e.g. "3:00 AM", and "5:00 PM" are in the leftmost column), I think about times building up to midnight from the bottom—i.e. the day starts at 12:00 AM on the bottom, with 1:00 AM above that, and the day ends with 11:59 PM on the top. I've learned that this intuition is atypical, and all calendaring systems I've come across work in the reverse direction, in line with the majority of people's intuitions.
I'm wondering if there's a way to get iCal to display in the reverse-chronological order. I suspect there isn't, and I've never seen a terminal command or apple script for it, but I'm hoping there is. If anyone know and could post it here, that would be great!
    Thanks!

It's cool, I figured out a solution: get over it and stop worrying about trivial issues to the point of excessive fussiness.

  • After ios5 update, iCal week view Oct 2-8 has 2 Saturdays?

Is anyone else having problems with iCal week view on iPad after ios5 update?
    Two major changes have occurred...
    1. Week view used to start on Monday, now Sunday (and can't change it back).
    2. If you look at the week October 2-8, 2011 there are 2 Saturdays and no Friday or following Saturday...
Any ideas? Is this a wait for ios5.1 issue?
    Cheers
    Chris

If you are using a Mac, go to Settings>Software Update ... check for any updates, and update all.
Chances are you are not using iTunes 10.5, which is required to sync iOS 5.
If youare using a PC, suggest you uninstall your iTunes, download fresh iTunes 10.5 from Apple.com/itunes and install it.
