Major iMovie 11' Glitches!!

I was working on one of my projects when I noticed a clip that I had imported was viewed in gray. When I scrolled over the video I could see the actual images, but when I took the cursor away it went back to gray. I brought the clip into the project and was working with it. I then, added a sound effect but then noticed that the movie was frozen on a certain frame but with the project's audio playing freely. I couldn't change anything as, it was frozen. I tried viewing the project in full screen but it was frozen on a huge black screen. The only way I could escape it was by Shutting the computer down and starting over. When I restarted the computer and opened iMovie again, I checked my other projects to find that they were fine in full screen. But, the small viewing pane was all glitchy (as in a bunch of clips with lines all over it,) it looked like this:
I got very upset, with all of these issues. And it effects some school projects too, meaning they will be late. Please help, because I use this regularly and I have a feeling its a bad problem!!! Thank you! (Sorry if I wasn't clear, its really hard to explain).

IMovie Project GLITCHED/Corrupted? Please help!

another problem happened just now. i was editing the titles and i think it was bugged. The whole project now freezes on me and when im at the "select your project" screen the movie looks like it's like static and seems to be glitched and gone. WHen i press on the project it attempts to load but nothing happens on the screen.. grrr i think i have to redo the project now =(

When your projects are on your start-up drive they MUST be in the Movies/iMovie Projects folder for iMovie to see them.
However, when you move them to an external drive, the MUST be in the iMovie Projects folder at the top level of the external drive for iMovie to see them.
So I would recommend that you move your iMovie Projects folder to the top level of your external drive. Then restart iMovie.
For best results, you should move iMovie projects and events from within iMovie. You might get away with moving projects in the Finder, but moving Events in the Finder can cause your projects to lose the connection with the event clips.

Major, Persistent Graphic Glitches. HELP!!!

I've never had any major problems with my iMac before yesterday. I started noticing little random glitches popping up. But then I started seeing it everywhere. In the dock, in the menu bar and everywhere in-between. I thought maybe upgrading to 10.5.1 could solve my problem, but it hasn't.

As the glitches got worse it started locking up. First it would lock up only briefly, but it would seem to get worse and worse and lock up for longer periods of time until I would get impatient and reboot. I noticed that I could sometimes get it to unlock by clicking on the desktop or messing with the dock or hitting command-tab. And if I was typing something and it locked up before the text would show up on screen I could get it unlocked all the text I had typed before and while it was locked would appear. Usually if my iMac locks up it won't keep taking input from the keyboard.
It's almost as if the computer's processes are working fine, but the graphics processor (or wherever the pixels get their orders) is lagging.
In the picture below; I moved a window and it locked up again. Then when it came to, it refreshed the pixels around the window but wouldn't refresh the rest unless I took the window and moved it all around the screen or went into the overview of my spaces.

The most noticeable glitch is the most elusive. It's like the whole screen motion blurs horizontally. It's not really a blur, it's almost like the pixels all jump in opposite directions for a second or two.
Is leopard trashing my GPU or what?! I want a new iMac, but not like this!... . . not like this.

Ok, well according to my local Apple certified computer specialists; I need a new power supply and logic board. I have no idea what caused the malfunction of these components (and they didn't seem to either), but I'm not putting down 500 wing wangs that could be going towards a new computer to fix a 3 year old iMac.
Amazing timing really. The warranty ended in September.

Major ipod problem, glitched music. help.

Ok, so here goes the story. 2nd gen ipod, 16GB. this just randomly happened- around a week after i homeshared with my friend and bought some new music.
THERE ARE NO DUPLICATES IN MY LIBRARY CONCERNING THIS MUSIC!!!
Around a week ago, I bought the album Moulin Rouge. I bought it with a gift card on he computer, then re-bought it on my ipod (a mistake, I know) It was completely normal, played normally, no problems. Far before this, I got a song from inception off of itunes, (we built our own world). It was also normal, save the fact that there was a sound at the beginning of it every time it played- like a clap. It started doubling before the moulin did.
The album and song are now behaving oddly. They are doubling themselves up. Like, when I have the Moulin album checked, two of each song pop up in the album. then when I uncheck the album, there still remains the whole album; so it seems there are two copies, one glitched stuck on my ipod, one normal from itunes. Moulin also has very weird ******** album art; the art is like a genius mix cover with another random album. Both of these symptoms are the same with the inception song.
And also, sometimes the moulin picks up random cover art from completely different albums, cover art I have added to songs I have gotten from limewire (NONE OF THE LIMEWIRE SONGS I GOT ARE GLITCHED OR BEHAVING ODDLY)
So, I have reset my iPod several times. I plugged my ipod in, wen under the music tab, and unchecked the 'Sync Music' box. So now the only music that is on my ipod is the weird, glitch music that doesn't seem to be originating from my iTunes library.
I don't even know if restoring my ipod will work with this. I have absolutely no ay of getting this music off my ipod. The 'regular' versions of the song + album are behaving fine, I can still listen to everything on my library.
Please help me. I need to get this iPod through a month or so more, and it just really annoys me to have something like this. I know I can simply create playlists and listen from there, but I kinda need to have my music organized.

Imovie 08 glitches - can't select/edit/or modify clips with

I have used imovie 08 for multiple projects with no problems. My HD has plenty of space, and imovie is the only application open.
I can download video and audio from a camera in the events pane. Here are the problems:
1. Can skim the event video, but can't see where I am at or control the vertical line that runs left to right.
2. I can't select a specific piece of video out of the events pane to put in the project pane unless it is pre-cut/already there.
3. Once the video clip goes from event into project pane, I cannot trim it in any way.
4. I can get it to pull up cropping and audio.
Basically, I can't tell where I am at in the events pane while skimming, and I also cannot select peices of clips in the events pane. I also can't trim video in the project pane once some video goes in there.
Any help would be appreciated. It has worked great for three months of several projects, and now it is really acting up.

Have the exact same problem, up till now everything worked fine. Not sure when it started, various OS - iApps - QT updates recently, but here it is. I dragged a 90 minute .mov file to the clips pane, 55 minutes of importing (including the 5 minute beach ball at the end) and although the drop down finder bar menus work I can't select anything in the window including the clip itself, timeline/clip viewer switch, or the red-yellow-green buttons at the top left corner. Although "select all" is available in the edit drop down menu nothing selects. Tried tossing the com.apple.imovie.plist with no change. Opened a new movie with nothing imported same thing.
Any ideas?

Can I finish iMovie 06 project in iMovie 08?

I started a major imovie project with my daughter's macbook, but she is off in college and my new macbook that I got last christmas has imovie 08 and I want to finish it. It is about 90 minutes long and I don't want to start over. What are my options?

Installing iMovie 06 on your Mac is BY FAR the best way.
You can get iMovie 06 in a number of ways. You cannot download it FROM APPLE any longer. You can also find iMovie 06 on the iLife 06 install disc. You can buy iLife 06 on Amazon or eBay.
But be prepared to pay about double the cost of iLife 09 (but well worth every penny). Seller's are becoming aware of its value.

Verify error while burning

Saved an iDVD project as a disc image, then checked the image using the DVD player. Looked good. Burned a DVD using Disk Utility (don't have Toast), but then it failed to verify. Twice. Played them at home anyway, but both copies of the DVD have major sound/image glitches and are essentially coasters now.
Any ideas? I'm using Pioneer DVD-R's, which I know aren't Verbatim which lots of people like.
Is there anything I can try besides burning DVD's repeatedly from the disc image and just hoping that once it will verify successfully?

Macs can be very picky about the type of media you uase.
I really would try burning it to Verbatim DVD-R 4x (or 8X) using the disk utility or Toast.
The slower the burn, the better the DVD.

Flash Player Freezes on Online Games

I'm not entirely sure if this is an adobe flash player problem, but I think it is...possibly.
We just upgraded our computers to Windows 7 32 bit. We work with kids so they like to play a lot of those
online free games, like those on gamefudge or addictinggames. Every since the change, many of the games no
longer work. They'll load, and possibly play for a screen or two, and then just stop working at the same spots
every time. Just the player freezes, the browser still works fine. I've tried I.E. 8, Firefox, and Chrome, and
the same thing happens on all of them. The only common thread I could find is that they are all running in
flash player.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi, Sometimes with a major upgrade some glitch can occur. Have you Uninstalled and Installed Flash Player version 10 since the Win7/IE8 upgrade?
Did you have version 10 on prior to the Win7 upgrade?
What browsers do you now have installed, all that you tried? Keep in mind IE8 comes with Win7.

Iphone order changed

Hey just confused...I pre-ordered the iphone 5 on the 14th and it is suppossed to come on the 28th..But when i went to check my order status on 9/24 it said it would be here by 9/28...Then i checked again on 9/26 and the shipdate changed to a later day in october..I called Apple and Verizon and they were both unable to give me and answer i was woundering if anybody knew why..

Yeah, the customizable phone labels have been a real blessing up until recently. If they ever figure this out, you should give it a try. As for the lack of responsiveness which robodr mentioned, I'm not surprised. We've pretty much been an all-Apple campus at my work with computers, portable devices, & even iPhones due to Apple's history with the philosophy of user-friendly simplicity. Unfortunately, that philosophy seems to be changing towards lazy unforeseen complexity. The Mavericks switch (though free), the iWork updates, the rough iMovie launch, glitches with copier drivers resetting, the ios7 glitches, even this inexcusable lag in customer service here, all of it has my board and me rethinking our company-wide devotion to Apple including our iPhones. If we're constantly troubleshooting, then Apple's nullified their advantage in the business sector and we might as well go for the cheaper Windows product since we're still constantly wasting our time & $$ on IT. IT savings was the whole reason we convinced the board to switch in the first place. Without it, Apple might as well kiss our money goodbye. When Steve Jobs was alive, every detail was so well-thought out and customer service was at the top of its game. Now, it's been a month since I posted a problem on Apple's website and no reply. I'm glad to have this poor experience because, honestly, the timing couldn't be better. My organization's AT&T phone contracts are expiring and we might begin switching more than our provider on this campus.

IPhone iOS 7 "Add Custom Labels" order changed...No Longer Alphabetized!

Help! I updated my iPhone4 to ios 7 with the recent update. I love everything about it, but when trying to find a custom label in "Contacts > John Doe > Edit > Mobile" and then scrolling down under the "Add Custom Label" menu, I found out that all of my custom labels which had previously been in alphabetized order were ordered according to what I can only guess was their date of creation. With a massive list of clients and contacts from various walks of life and organizations, I created a reusable Custom Lable system since I came across that need in my line of work. After ios 7, that suddenly got rearranged. It never occurred in any other software or hardware update and I've been with iPhone since first gen. How can take my Custom Labels and return to the alphabetized order with which they were previously arranged without losing ios 7? Thanks for your help in advance.

Problem getting my email through yahoo

Unfortunately, I had to uninstall Mozilla Firefox as I could not access my Yahoo emails. Would not open my email, but found if I would right click on the mail tab, it would then open. In order to read my email I had to perform the same thing on each individual email. However, I could not delete, send to SPAM or respond.
I love Mozilla Firefox. But until this is resolved, I can't use it and am tied to Internet Explorer which is really bad. But at least I can read and get into me emails.

Same problem, intermittently, for me. And I'm using a Mac computer [non-Intel] with OS X 10.4 Tiger.
Seems strange that Firefox engineers don't have Firefox tweaked to handle yahoo mail, considering how many HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of yahoo mail users world-wide. It might be the most-used website on the Internet. So that means more Firefox users are finding Firefox inadequate to meet their needs.
Guess I'll go back to using Safari till Firefox engineers make Firefox capable of functioning on major websites without glitches.

Error -50 when exporting to quicktime MPEG-4

Alright so here's the deal:
I have made a movie (obviously) it plays fine in iMovie, no glitches or anything. Unfortunately since the video files have already been compressed once, I am trying to export it using a setting that will not compress it again. I have found this setting(MPEG-4) under "Export using Quicktime..." and then disable the compression. Everything looks fine until you click save, in which case I get an error -50.
Now I know this is fairly unlikely, but is anyone a super whizz that would magically have a solution to this problem ?

When you are selecting None, you are not turning off compression, you are turning off the video track. That will lead to a -50 error.

Is the new MacPro running smoothly with Photoshop?

My current Mac is way too slow, old, etc. to handle the large files that I'm working on. The new MacPro would be great but are there major kinks and glitches that still need to get ironed out?

I don't have a new Mac Pro, but Adobe appears to be working with them and fixing what they find.
In Photoshop 14.2 Adobe enabled taking full advantage of the FirePro GPU in the new Mac Pro (but not both GPUs at the same time, yet).
In Photoshop 14.2.1 Adobe fixed a stability bug related to the Camera Shake Reduction filter on the new Mac Pro.
So it looks like a couple of new Mac Pro issues have already been taken care of.

Library re-organization help needed!

After many attempts I was unable to import my iPhoto Library into Aperture. What I ended up doing was to import my iPhoto Library event by event using the import using the iPhoto Browser.
I was able to import my whole library this way but I think I may have made a mistake with the way I did the importing. I created a new empty Project and imported each related event into a separate Album within that project. After re-reading the manual a few times, I realized that each event should be its own Project and these projects should be moved into folders to group them.
What is the proper way to organize my images? For example, I made several trips to China and each trip had photos from different sightseeing excursions. How should I best organize these photos (using Folders, Projects and Albums) and how can I change my current setup to achieve this without starting over with importing from iPhoto?
I hope someone can shed some light on this issue.

If you images have the correct date on them assuming your camera's clock was accurately set, you'll never really be in bad shape. Even if images from multiple trips ever wind up in the same folder or project.
There's really no wrong way to do this and nothing that you can't change later, BUT...
First off, whatever reorganizing you may eventually want to do with the original files stored on your hard drive, and the folders they're in, make sure that you don't try to do it your self thinking that aperture will know what you did. Even though there are ways that you can tell Aperture later what you did and how to find the photos its kinda awkward and convoluted.
Make sure that you tell Aperture what you want to do and let Aperture do the actual moving.
How do you have he master images currently stored? Did you originally import them into the iphoto library as duplicates? Or was iPhoto able to "reference" them in their original location?
Do you want them to be referenced in Aperture or imported into Apertuer's library as "managed"?
I had major bug and glitch problems a few years ago when I originally tried to import the photos into Aperture as "managed". So I kept them referenced.

I have some specific points, and please forgive me if I'm asking something you may have answered. Got kids running around, that kind of thing. Have to run out and pick up milk in a minute, life is busy, you get it... sure? Any links are helpful too.
The existing server had an XP software raid (hack some dm* files a bit, there is a toms hardware article on it here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/windowsxp-make-raid-5-happen,925-2.html on a Shuttle AN35 Ultra 400 and a Barton Athlon XP 2600+ 0343.
But it's a barebones board so I thought I would 'Upgrade' the file server with an 'everything' board. Enter the K7N2 Delta2 Platinum. Enter also a 0310 2500+ which I patched the mobile jumper for fun and cut all of L6. The NFORCE2 seems to ignore these settings, and swapping in the 2600+ completely stock doesn't seem to change anything below:
Questions I have which I have not got answered yet (and running 1/20/2005 bios the board came with): I can't adjust the vCore! I can only set it in the bios but not in Windows, where I have 8rdavcore - this dynamically lowered my FSB and vcore when the system was idle. 8rdavcore lists the board but there is no driver in the drop-down: this is not the giveio.sys driver mentioned on the home page, it is a driver to interface with the vcore and other settings on the board.
With your recommendations klondike the system at least boots reliably. Already I am disappointed in the MSI versus the Shuttle for this reason alone, no vcore and the settings seem really picky in the MSI Bios. The shuttle though had a periodic problem with crashes which I never figured out. LC 6420GP 80plus PS, ATI 9250 AGP, Team Value memory (identical in timing to the Value memory in your post Klondike), 3ware 9500S-8 hardware raid, NEC USB 5 port USB card and a 3com 10/100, all moved to the new system, with the 3ware newly introduced replacing the software raid. Removes the annoying rebuild when the system crashes out, prevents major disk data glitches.
I want this system to dynamically underclock, but as yet, I cannot adjust the vcore down. For example, Corecenter, or nTune, has the field for vcore and other values, but except for FSB, they are locked, and 8rdavcore log shows it cannot load the driver. The Shuttle went to under 100 fsb with a low voltage dynamically, I think vcore 1.25 with the Athlon XP Barton 2600+, and run super-cool and use about 75 watts of power vs 110w.
Any ideas?

Came back to the machine, swapped back in the Athlon XP Barton 2600+, took a look in the BIOS (don't know if I changed anything, probably), and now the vCore is greyed out again in 8rdavcore. "No ATXP1 found."
Edit: I used the CMOS jumper to reset settings several times to no effect.
Sorry I did not get the log when it was working. I will next time! I assume where it says "not responding" has something to do with the problem.
