Major iPhone problem - Dead screen sensors!

I don't know what happened but just right now, my iPhone isn't responding. It was working fine all day until now. I'm unable to use the bottom half my iPhone. When it's on the main screen, I'm able to access anything that is on the top half of the screen but on the bottom, it's completely dead. The screen does not respond to anything. I was wondering if anyone else got this problem? Also, does this fall under the warranty of Apple? If so, can I just simply go to Apple and ask for a replacement since my screen isn't working? Any information will help.
Thanks, Rick

My phone has a similar problem. There is a dead strip along the screen that has been noted in several internet publications, but Apple hasn't completely responded on it yet.
Drop damage -- no way, but my phone has a dead strip across the screen right over the Clock, Calculator, Notes and Settings sections so I cannot touch any of these at all. This also affects my ability to press "Send" in the text message screen, as well as the numbers 7,8, and 9 on my keypad, and interrupts my scrolling capabilities in almost every application on the phone. FRUSTRATING.
Took it to Apple store and because I had a 3 scuffs -- don't let your girlfriend hold it in her purse, keys and such -- I was denied my warranty. That makes me go CRAZY, especially since I've had the phone for 4 months, it was $600, and the problem has been documented in multiple news publications such as CNN Money!!!

that is where you can see the exact same problem as mine is published!!!
If any advice can be given on this subject on how to talk to the Apple store about this, it would be much appreciated. These young punk "geniuses" aren't really giving me much help. Let me know if you find a solution, man.

  • Major iPhone Problem

    Hello,
I'm having a major iPhone problem!!!
My phone crashed yesterday and wont turn back on or charge since then. It will start up with the apple logo and then the screen goes dark, will only stay on for about 30 secs. It's an original not jailbroken or anything like that. iTunes won't recognize it at all, I tired resetting it, hard resetting it, a different cord, basically everything and NOTHING works!
    Please help! Thank you!

try doing a hard restart - hold home + power until the phone shuts down... then connect it to your puter.
you may have too many things running in the background on the phone... i have heard fetch & push can drain your battery like you experienced... i don't use them, i get my mail when i open the application.

  • Major iPhone 4s touch screen problems.  The screen randomly "quivers" and performs random commands.

The touch screen on my iPhone 4s started flipping out yesterday.  When typing in iMessage, it will randomly pause, add strings of letters, go back to list view.  In Safari, touching the screen causes the the page to jump around or go "back". Same in apps.  Help!

I also made an appointment at the Genius Bar and took my phone in Sunday.   The phone didn't exhibit any of the problems described above while I was there but honestly, I'm not sure the guy even checked.  We sat down, I described the problem, he went to the back and got me a new phone.  According to him, it had a bad touch sensor.   We backed my old phone up to iCloud one more time, got the new phone running and restored to my back up, deleted everything off of my old phone, and I was out the door in no time with a new phone, and all of my data.
All tech products will have their share of issues, that's just the way it is.   But my experience in the store last Sunday is the reason I won't even consider buying a phone or computer from any company other than Apple.

  • Major iPhone problems!

So I have the white iPhone 4s 32 GB on Verizon Wireless.  For what it is worth, it's running the latest iOS and is not jailbroken or anything funny like that.
I have 3 problems that I don't know how they came about and don't know how to fix them. I thought I would come here before I go to Verizon and complain!
First of all, and the most annoying, I can't text anyone that doesn't have an iPhone.  The contacts who I iMessage work out fine.  The messages are sent almost immediatley and I receive them almost immediatley as well.  But when I text people who don't have iPhone and their messages are green, I never get replies.  Or if I do, I get them hours and hours later, sometimes as last as like 4 and 5 am which my friends have told them none of them are up at that kind of time.  I know this because I say "I sent that message hours ago" and they say "I responded right away."  I don't know if it's because they don't have iPhones so my phone decides to treat them differently or because they are on a different carrier.
The next issue I have been having is with the text tone.  Once I recieve the response text, the default Apple tone plays for a small split second and the screen turns on for the same amount of time and then the sound cuts out and the screen goes black.  I have read other forum posts and have seen people addressing the same issue I've been having. Can someone help??
The last issue I'm having is when i press the wake button and the lock screen comes up, the slider sometimes does not work.  I click and drag about a half inch then it goes back to the left.  And i drag it again and it just goes back to the left.  Then i have to turn the screen off and on again and most of the time it works then.
Can someone, anyone, help me with ANY of these issues?!

Flip is wrong. iMessage uses wifi or cellular data. The difference is that imessage uses apple servers to send texts while regular texts use the carrier to send. The issue you are describing sounds like a carrier SMS issue and you need to contact Verizon about it.
The text popping up and tone are normal as flip said.
Do a hard reset by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button ignoring the slide to power off message then press the sleep/wake button until it powers back on. That might fix your touch input problem. If it doesn't you may want to try a restore.

  • IPhone 3GS On-Screen Keyboard Problem!

The number, space bar and return key on my iPhone 3GS on-screen keyboard is not working until you tilt it to landscape mode! When I tap the number key, it activates the cap key. When I tap the space bar, depending on weather I'm taping the left, middle or right, it will activate the "X, C or B keys, respectively and when I tap the return/done key, it will activate the backspace key! This problem happened suddently about two days ago!
What on earth is the problem and can anyone please help me?
Thank you very much in advance!

Try pushing the "home" button twice rapidly to get the multitasking bar to open. Hold on the icon for the app store for a few seconds until you get the option to close it. Then try reopening it and see what happens. That will probably fix it.

    Solved (for me)
I had exactly the same issue - a portion of the screen on my 3G was unresponsive (the lower row of icons on the home screen) but seemed OK in SMS and Safari.
I tried backing up and restoring to no avail and was all set to book a date with the Genius bar... but guess what? I went to the movies last night and switched off my phone for at least 2 hours. When I switched it back on everything worked perfectly!

  • My i Pod touch still works but it has a dead screen! How can i fix this??!!

I just got the iPod for Christmas last year but recently my little brother dropped it and it became a dead screen! How can i fix this problem?! HELP!!!!!!!!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price (for 4G iPod, $199 for 64 GB and $99 for the others). They do not fix yours.

  • Iphone 3g blank screen during calls

I bought a 3g last week to replace an original iphone that had stopped working. Everything seemed to work on the new phone except that during calls the screen would go blank and I could not get it back by holding it away from my ear, hitting the Home button, or anything else except the on/off button at the top, which ended the call. I was on the phone with apple tech support for several hours, trying all sorts of things that didn't solve the problem.
Then my grandson came home and looked at my phone. He surmised that the case, which I had transferred from my original iphone, was blocking the sensors. This turned out to be correct. If I push the phone slightly out of the case when on a call, the screen works just fine.
I decided to post this in case some one else runs into the same problem.

As soon as you said that the screen didn't come on, my first question was going to be are you using the original iPhone case? The proximity sensors on the 3G are positioned a little differently than the original phone.

  • Is anyone with a Macbook experiencing interference with their iPhone's touch screen?

At first I thought my iPhone's touch screen was broken so I contacted apple. Before we could finish our chat, my internet crashed and we couldnt finish. Tonight I'm on my MacBook air wathcing Netflix and trying to use my iphone to text. The interference is so bad that when i hold my thumb on the screen in one spot, the phone will scroll for itself and typing is practically impossible. Is anyone else expierencing this problem? This problem didn't exist with my 4, But when I use my computer, my 5S is practically impossible to use near my Mac.

    Nope.

I bougnt my S5 a month ago and I am having two major issues.  The screen is very slow to respond.  When the screen is dark and I press the home button, it doesn't come on.  I have to press the button anywhere from 4-10 times and then it usually flashes on and back off.  It is very, very frustrating.  The other issue is that the battery drains very quickly.  I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues.  They tell me to do different things that never help.  We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues.  Help!  It is a brand new phone and unfortunately I am in a new two year contract.  Ugh. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have done that several times.  In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly.  I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time.  It never does.  After doing the factory reset and it still not working correctly, they act like they are confused, almost like I am lying.  I did what you suggested above on the slim chance it would work this time but it did not.  I bought two S5's that day and the other one works perfectly fine.  I know I got a bad phone.  Verizon just does not listen.  It is a bad phone.  I just want a new phone that works properly.  Is that too much to ask?  I bought a new phone that has been bad from day one.  Why oh why do I have to spend hours of my time on the phone, in the store, on the computer, trying to rectify this?  It shouldn't be this difficult!  Help please!!!

  • HT1212 my iphone 5's screen blacks out every now and then. the phone is turned on but the screen is black and i can receive calls. what is wrong with my phone

my iphone 5's screen blacks out every now and then. the phone is turned on but the screen is black and i can receive calls. what is wrong with my phone?

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed.  So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?

  • How do I transfer files from PowerBook to MacBook. (dead screen PB)

Problem is, the PowerBook 1400C has a dead screen. So I can
boot it up, but that's it. Is there a way to hook up the MacBook
to the PB so the PB is seen as an external hard drive? There
are no firewire or usb ports on the PB 1400. Just want to get
    some documents off of it.

I think you'll have to take the hard drive out and install it in an external enclosure.
Target disk mode won't work on Macs that are old enough to lack a native firewire port. And if the screen is dead, I don't see how you could connect via ethernet and enable file sharing.
Edit: From googling, I see that a video out port was optional on (some?) PB 1400's. If you have one, can you get it to boot with a monitor? Then file sharing would be an option.
