Major League Baseball Radio Support

I have a BB 9900 7.1 bundle 2108 - will this support the Major League Baseball Audio app. MLB states you need flashplayer 10 - any idea's. I would love to listen to games while traveling.

hi,
so I didn't believe you so I tried to install the app from the Amazon Appstore app, and indeed it didn't work.
Then I used the Google Play Store app on my Passport, and I found it, installed it, and launched it. Please see below, three screenshots I just did.
I don't care about baseball so I don't have any MLB account, I went for the lite version and it seems that some google services are required, but I could use the app.
If you wish to install the Google Play Store, please search the internet for :
google play store cobalt crackberry
and you'll probably reach the tutorial on how to do that.
you can also probably install the application called "Snap" which also gives you access to the apps in the Google Play Store.
The search box on top-right of this page is your true friend, and the public Knowledge Base too:

i see tonights match was called off, due to weather but there was 2 alternative matches which could have been shown. could have an altenative match be shown? awaiting your reply

That suggests that BT have more than one set of baseball rights tied up then ....they would get the ESPN coverage from licensing the UK (ESPN) channel - maybe they have or had an arrangement for other games perhaps with FOX which would make sense as BT had the 2013 world series. Think that new deals (agreed in 2012)  came into effect either with the 2013 world series or the start of the 2014  season.
I think the postponed game was an ESPN covered one so if BT are dealing with sepearate rights holder networks rather than a central MLB tv organisation it may not be quite as straightforward as you think to switch games.

  • Why are the Major League Baseball calendars blank?

And if there is nothing there why does Apple list them for subscription?
    For instance here:
    webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/Orioles.ics
But also Boston, Seattle, New York (both teams), Texas and Chicago Cubs. I tried subscribing to all of those, got blanks each time, and decided not to try all 30 teams.
If they haven't posted the calendars yet they had better get a move on, because Opening Day is Monday.
I love the National Holidays calendar--it shows up fine. But the sports calendars don't, and I would like to have a handy way of checking the home schedule because of traffic on the way home from work.

    Gutenberg,
It seems that they have not been updated for 2006. If you check last September for example, I will bet that you will see the 2005 schedule. I have found updated schedules on iCalShare.
Good Luck to your favorite team, especially if it is the Mariners.
    ;~)

  • Major fail:  Genius bar support?

I drove four hours to the nearest Genius bar to hopefully get some help with two macbooks with DVD drives that didn't seem to be working.
The tech told us they were working as expected.  When we tried them again, the same problems were there, not able to play DVDs on one and not even able to insert a DVD on the other.
There doesn't appear to be any recourse to lodge a complaint like this either online, via phone or support chat.
This may not be the appropriate place to post this, but I am at a loss.  Any suggestions?
We feel like we were lied to by the Apple Store Genius bar team.

If it is being replaced under warranty then you are generally not able to retain the faulty unit as it will be returned to the manufacturer for a credit.
If this is being replaced out of warranty or an upgrade then you are entitled to keep your old hard drive as this is your property.

  • Major League Nuissance Sound at Random Intervals

I get a VERY irritating sound at random intervals (about 6 to 10 times every hour) on my new iMac with OS X Mavericks.  It sounds like a submarine drowning.  I have turned off ALL Alerts and Notifications but it continues to haunt me. I have an mp4 sound file made on QT available for anyone who wishes to hear it.  Can anyone help?

  • Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?  I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.

Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.  I had a heck of a time getting my Detroit Tigers Baseball team schedules migrated (but Major League Baseball supported the subscriptions, so it occurred).  As I work internationally, having these calendar subscriptions on the new Calendar would be very useful.
If one goes to the Apple site, and seeks calendars [http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/index1.html], they are shunted to MobileMe [https://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/], with the note "MobileMe is closed. Go to iCloud."  But, I do not see how to get subscriptions from iCloud.
    Thanks.

The problem is that many of these calendars were hosted on MobileMe. I actually tried about 20 at random, and only two worked! Not all of the failures were ex-MobileMe, some were on other servers but produced 'File Not Found'.
Strangely, this one worked despite its URL:
    http://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics
Until the people who publish these calendars (it's not Apple, they are third-party) wake up and find alternative servers these calendars are not available.
There may be other sources which work - try Googling.

  • Radio Sports Streams on the iPhone

I am in college athletics and, one of them main reasons why I got the iPhone was so I could tune into live radio streams of games.
Also pay for Major League Baseball audio broadcasts and could not get them in my iPhone.
I am assuming that this is all linked to the use of Flash.
Any updates you can provide would be very, very helpful.

It's not really a flash thing, it's more of a browser issue (which does relate to not having flash). And it will be totally up to the radio stations to do this, as Apple is unlikely to change Safari just for this.
However, I think there is starting to be hope for you (although truly you should never buy anything on the basis of something you think it might be able to do without finding out for sure):

The URL, or the information on the server, doesn't appear to be formatted such that QuickTime Player can recognize it as an RTSP stream. I tried to figure out, with my minimal French, an alternative from the broadcaster's web site, but could not find a stream version that would work directly in QuickTime Player. Unless someone else here can find a workaround, it looks like you'll have to use one of the other players for that stream.

  • Listening to Streamed Radio/Sports on the iPhone

One of the reason I stop using the Treo and got the iPhone, was to listen to streaming audio, particularly MLB and college sports.
Not sure if this is possible now or in the future.
Anyone have any info and updates?

    Maestro,
I have been listening to sports radio streams since they started 5-8 years ago.
I was hoping that the iPhone with all its internet-music-iPod-iTunes-Safari features could allow me to listen to my favorite college and pro teams live via an internet stream (that I have and would be happy to pay for)
I am currently pay for a few, particularly Major League Baseball and many colleges and was very disappointed to see that the iPhone does NOT provide this simple feature on a device that can and should provide this simple feature.
I have no interest in watching the video of a game on the iPhone only the audio.

  • Apple tv vs roku vs ps3

Now that the new apple tv is priced more reasonably...
    I *may consider getting one.
Note: right now we're using our kids ps3 machine to navigate to netflix instant play and it works FINE, albeit we had to get over the learning curve regarding the gamer remote vs a tv style remote.
But regarding apple tv & roku....is there any reason why a person should choose apple tv OVER roku? Any reason why either of these are better options than the ps3 that we already own?
    THANKS.

Short Answer: Apple TV (2G) is very viable vs the Roku HD-XR if you only watch movies & TV shows and listen to music. Note: both the new Apple TV and the Roku have Netflix access.
However, if you're a baseball fan, then Roku has the +1 since it has THE Major League Baseball (MLB.TV) app. While the Roku won't take your iTunes music, it does have Pandora and other internet viewing/listening apps. I own a Roku HD-XR unit which I really like for the previous mentioned apps.
I also own two hot rodded Apple TV 1G (external eSata Drive, boxee & XBMC) and a lot of CDs & DVDs. I rip both media and "put" them on the Apple TV. I love this setup. As long as Apple & iTunes support it, The hot rodded Apple TVs will be my go to HTPC devices for my owned media. Note the "owned media."
I only own CDs & DVDs after the artist CD or movie DVD has earned its way into my library. Pandora has introduced me to new groups as has the Coverville podcast. Netflix (at $9 per month) is a great way to "preview" movies with the Netflix steaming capability.
Well, YMMV but that's my cut on the Apple TV vs the Roku.

  • I cannot get MLB gameday any more on this computer. Windows 7 starter. I can get it on IE. Why?

I used to have no problem getting Major League Baseball Gameday on my netbook. However, it might be since the latest version of Firefox, I cannot access it any more. My netbook has Windows 7 starter. I can get it with IE but I don't like using IE. I have no problem accessing the site with my laptop which uses XP. Any idea why? Also having problems accessing the MLB media center.
    MLB media center is http://mlb.mlb.com/mediacenter/index.jsp#20080515

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes (similar to those above) and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if iTunes won't install normally.
