Major Performance Issues in Flash 8
I have been experiencing major slowdown in the Flash 8
authoring tool... I am working with large files (about 40-50mb
.fla).
My system specs aren't too bad but maybe not enough?
1.5Ghz Pentium M
512mb RAM
1024mb virtual memory...
Is there anything that specifically causes Flash to slow way
down? I'm thinking about tweaking my system (either settings or by
upgrading hardware) but I don't know what would help Flash with
larger projects. I'm assuming that more RAM would speed things up,
but I don't want to jump to that assumption and buy it without
knowing for sure...
...any ideas?
Yes... more graphics = heavier load...
...obviously.
However the performance issues here I'm talking about aren't
just slight slowdown issues. It is a MAJOR slowdown problem that
occurs suddenly. This means that once I hit a certain filesize,
Flash slows down and will not respond for MINUTES. If it were a
simple "you added more graphics" problem, then it would show a
gradual decrease in performance.
What I was really wanted to know is what is the weak link
concerning Flash performance? Is it RAM, processor speed, or
something else?
I can upgrade, but I'm not buying a new multi-processor
machine...it's not feasible, and not to mention it's a huge
overkill.

Major performance Issues after upgrading to 10.9.2
Hi,
I have been having major performance issues almost preventing me from using the computer at times. I suspect I don't have enough memory to run Maverick as the computer was great before I upgraded.
If any experts or people with ideas for me to speed up the computer, please respond. If you think the only way to improve performance is add memory or revert back to a previous version of OSX that I have a backup for, let me know.
Here is the info on my system, thank you in advance!!

Performance issues with flashed 7800GT (G5)
Hey,
I recently flashed a PC 7800GT with the 128K OEM NVidia ROM. It's one of the cards with a physical 128K ROM chip, so no worries there. However, it doesn't deliver the performance I expected. I have a Late 2005 2.0 DC, 10GB DDR2 and use Leopard 10.5.8.
This is what OS X puts out (german):
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT:
Chipsatz-Modell: GeForce 7800GT
Typ: Monitor
Bus: PCIe
Steckplatz: SLOT-1
PCIe-Lane-Breite: x16
VRAM (gesamt): 256 MB
Hersteller: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Geräte-ID: 0x0092
Versions-ID: 0x00a1
ROM-Version: 2152.2
Performance issues are: I can't seem to reach frame rates that are anywhere near the results provided by barefeats. Quake 3 runs with approx 200fps in 1600x1200x32 (I expected 300+ fps), Quake 4 and UT2004 run okay, but not on high settings with high resolutions. So, not equivalent to what you wouldd expect from the system's specs) Same goes for Colin McRae Rallye. Now, I remember reading about performance issues in 10.5.8 with the flashed ROM since it doesn't seem to be a 1:1 copy of the original one. I didn't try it in Tiger since I don't exactly want to go back from Leopard. Am I right that this is probably an issue of the "OEM ROM" (from the macelite)? Does anyone have the real deal in terms of 7800GT ROMs and could provide me with a link?
BrHi-
If you send me an email via my website, I can send you a couple of ROMs that might work better.
http://www.jcsenterprises.com/Japamacs_Page/All_Things_PPC.html
Problem with the flashed 256 MB GT, though, is that Leopard runs slow.
Bad driver interaction.....
The 512 MB GTX is the way to go........ -
Help with Video Performance Issues using Flash
Asking on behalf of a customer who has been unable to get any answers so far - are you able to help?
Background:
We have a port of our Game Development Kit which allows us to recompile all our games using Crossbridge (http://adobe-flash.github.io/crossbridge/) into SWF without any code modifications.
Overview:
Our framework is using OpenGL for rendering and we have successfully ported it along with the audio and video to run in Flash.
We are experiencing performance issues using Video. We cannot use image sequence as some of the video animations are too long and would increase the download to an unacceptable size. Assets vary between 256x256 - 1024x1024 videos.Here's the rest of the story. Let me know if you can see any resolution, and I will connect him to the forums. Thank you.
Current Video Solution:
We create an instance of NetConnection, NetStream, and Video according to most samples out there, and invoke draw to rasterize the Video DisplayObject into a BitmapData instance.
The BitmapData instance has a fixed color component layout which is not compatible with Stage3D texture and is therefore has to be reformatted before uploaded to Stage3D Texture (See Code Listing below).
Our Problems:
Performance issues with RGBA conversion (either using copyChannel or manually reformatting is not fast enough) natively in as3; this required for stage3d texture.Copying each channel individual using bitmapdata.Copychannel seems faster, but not significantly faster.
Cannot detect when video frame has been updated, therefore we may copy pixels that are not needed in enterframe (processpixel).
Looping video, our current solution uses the NET_STATUS event Buffer empty; Is there a better way to loop videos than checking buffer and seeking to 0.
Stepping video, loading FLV or MP4 side by side assets from HTTP or embedded does not support stepping? Is there another way?
ActionScript Code Listing:
video_nc = new NetConnection();
video_nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS , onConnect);
video_nc.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR , trace);
video_nc.connect(null);
// OnConnect Event:
this.ns = new NetStream(e.target as NetConnection);
eventclient = new Object();
eventclient.onMetaData = onMetaData;
this.ns.client = eventclient;
ns.play(flvfile);
ns.pause();
//onMetaData event:
this.width = infoObject.width;
this.height = infoObject.height;
this.textureWidth = NextPowerOfTwo(this.width);
this.textureHeight = NextPowerOfTwo(this.height);
cliprect = new Rectangle(0, 0, this.width ,this.height);
cliprect.x = 0;
cliprect.y = 0;
cliprect.width = this.textureWidth;
cliprect.height = this.textureHeight;
totalFrames = infoObject.duration * infoObject.fps;
this.hasAlpha = true;
if(infoObject.videocodecid == 5)
this.hasAlpha = true;
this.bitmapData = new BitmapData(this.textureWidth, this.textureHeight, hasAlpha, 0xff000000);
this.video = new Video(this.width, this.height);
this.video.attachNetStream(ns);
this.video.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, processPixels);
// processPixel method:
BitmapData.draw(video);
GLAPI.instance.glBindTexture(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D,this.textureId);
var fmt:uint = GLAPI.GL_ARGB;
// converting pixels using copychannel or loop through pixels
GLAPI.instance.glBindTexture(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D,this.textureId);
GLAPI.instance.glTexImage2D(GLAPI.GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, fmt, this.textureWidth, this.textureHeight, 0,fmt, GLAPI.GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, 0, convBitmapData.getPixels(cliprect)); -
My macbook pro is suddenly having major performance issues
Hi,
I´ve been having some performance issues with my Macbook Pro (late 2006) and was hoping that someone here might be able to help me figure out what it is.
It all started about a month ago with the disc utility giving me an error.
The error said something about the amount of threads being wrong.
I popped in the install dvd and fixed the problem. I also did a complete reinstall and upgraded from leopard to snow leopard.
There was nothing wrong with the S.M.A.R.T.-status of the drive.
At the same time the hardrive error came around my cpu started to choke. The cpu-problem didn´t go away after I repaired the disc and formatted the drive and installed 10.6.
Now it feels like the cpu is running way below it´s capacity. Even the simplest of tasks make my computer choke.
My audio applications are working at about half the speed of what they used to handle. Converting a wave file to mp3 takes about twice as long, and converting a video is even worse.
I haven´t had any problems since I bought it in 2006. It is still running smooth - except for the lack of speed. It´s not really acting weird or being unstable, just slow. Way slower than it is supposed to be (and was before).
And it happened overnight.
I also had a kernel panic last week. But after restarting the system it went away and I haven´t seen it since.
My specs are: C2D 2.16, 3GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm hdd, OS 10.6.4...
Would really appreciate help of any/every kind!
I fear that this might be the end of my work horseWell, kind of a good news bad news situation for you.
Bad news, is that your hard drive is dying. Make sure you back things up while you still can. Disk Utility's SMART status is generally just this side of useless I'm afraid. I've seen plenty of drives that are completely toast, that will show up as "Verified".
Good news, is that as repairs go, this is close to as cheap as they get. It's up to you if you want to attempt doing it yourself, but be sure to look for some kind of take apart guide first. Look it over, and if you're even a little unsure, take it somewhere. Shortly after this model they started making it a lot easier to do HDD upgrades, not that it does you a lot of good.
Anyway, even for a system as old as yours, this is a very cost effective repair if everything else is still working fine, and you're satisfied with the system. It's also a good opportunity to upgrade, give yourself a little extra space. No need to go overboard, but maybe a 250GB drive or so. A touch over 2X the space you had before, which can be had on the cheap. Just about any 2.5" SATA drive should work in that system. -
Major performance issue: AIR browser is slow to load AJAX app & kills CPU
Hello,
This issue for so long. I tried to submit a ticket that was erased.
Here's someone else talking about that topic: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3896291#3896291
My question - Is there a solution ahead or I have to wait patiently that all my clients uninstall the application?The bug referenced in that thread, AIR browser is slow to load AJAX app, is still open/to track. Based off the notes from Jian on Nov 6th, we've been able to reproduce the issue but it does not have enough votes to qualify for our current releases. We need additional users to cast their votes that this is impacting their applications.
There is a note on November 11th, that suggests that removing inset box shadows can resolve this issue in some cases. This is most likely similar to other known bugs where -webkit-box-shadow impacts performance on Windows. All cases have been deferred at this time as the solution is not trivial to address (I've personally entered this bug at least twice.)
Chris -
I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ62-360TX pre-loaded with Windows 7 home premium (64-bit) that I purchased just under a year ago.
Recently my experience has been interrupted by stuttering that ranges from annoying in general use to a major headache when playing music or videos from the hard drive.
The problem appears to be being caused by extremely hard drive high response times (up to 10 seconds). As far as I know I didn't install anything that might have caused the problems before this happened, and I can't find anything of note looking back through event viewer.
In response to this I've run multiple hard drive scans for problems (chkdsk, scandsk, test through BIOS, test through HP software and others) all of which have passed with no problems. The only thing of any note is a caution on crystaldiskinfo due to the reallocated sector count but as none of the other tests have reported bad sectors I'm unsure as to whether this is causing the problem. I've also updated drivers for my Intel 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller from the Intel website and my BIOS from HP as well as various other drivers (sound, video etc), as far as I can tell there are none available for my hard drive directly. I've also wanted to mess with the hard drive settings in the BIOS but it appears those options are not available to me even in the latest version.
System Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series
Sound Card: ASUS Xonar U3 Audio Device or Realtek High Definition Audio (both have problem)
Hard Drive: Toshiba MK5065GSK
Any ideas?
Edit: The drive is nowhere near full, it's not badly fragmented and as far as I can tell there's no virus or malware.Sounds like failing sectors are being replaced with good spares sucessfully so far, this is done on the fly and will not show in any test, you have a failing drive, I would back up your data and replace the hard drive.
Sector replacement on the fly explains the poor performance also, replacing sectors with spares is normal if it is just a few over many years, but crystal is warning you there are too many, a sign of drive failure is around the corner. -
Upgrading from 4.2 to 5.1 Performance Issues
Hi All,
We are finally upgrading from 4.2 to 5.1. Both our 4.2 and 5.1 servers are identical, however, we are noticing major performance issues in one of our applications that contains 7 account hierarchies and 4 entity hierarchies. Creating a simple any by any can take up to 3.5 minutes in 5.1 where as it takes less than 2 seconds in 4.2. We could split up some of the account hierarchies into separate dimension and applications, but I find it hard to believe that we need to redesign our applications to fit 5.1 handling of multiple hierarchies.
Has anyone else run into similar issues, if so, what was done to overcome them?
Thanks.Hi,
We had some performance issues with BPC 5.1 SP4, we upgrade to SP9 and take recomendations found on the How To doc below found here on sdn:
[How to Use MDX Dimension Formulas Article |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/008d665b-94bf-2a10-78b2-b32ffe04ba73]
As I know just account hierarchies are supported (at least in our case) with hard limitations on hierarchies formulas.
Hope this helps,
Regards,

Performance Issue in NWBC Material 6.1
We are facing a major performance issue on Development and QA env for Material NWBC in 6.1 during UAT with a limited users only. Initially we have observed that the memory space is 0% and 2% on Dev and Q environments.We have asked the infrastructure partner to take a corrective action and the memory was freed on the environments. But this did not help.
Then we doubted on http side of the Dev and Q system. No issue were found with the connection to BODS. As per the observation from the infra team there is no real bottleneck, from OS, SAP and DB2 side. Even the restart of all the components was also performed but still the performance issue exists.Please suggest.
Thanks,
SubhronathHi,
Did you trace the ABAP logs?..it indicates which area/methods of your application taking long time. you might want to do in ST12 trace and you may use tool like httpwatch or SAT trace to find out where exactly it's taking time or memory.
Once you do that, You may need to refer MDG performance tweak document to fine tune your performance issue.
SCN Link is here.

Number of Workitem Containers and Performance Issues
Hi All,
Is there a major performance issue based on the number of workflow containers.
I know its recommended that the containers should be single line rather multiline and to keep the number of containers less
Did anyone face some performance issue with many containers and any idea on what is the minimum number to keeping performance into consideration.
Thanks,
Charan.Performance does not come in for Workflow container but it is also a good practise to make the number of Workflow container less. Generally if you consider a sophesticated Workflow Expert who is only into developing will have the minimum of Workflow container. But if that same expert has experience in Support Project where he has to analyse Wflow developed by other expert then it is always handful to maintain all the meaningful information in the Workflow container. I will recommend to use minimum of Workflow container element but this should not sacrifice the information Container element.
Thanks

Avoiding performance issue due to loop within loop on internal tables
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where in i want to check whether each of the programs stored in one internal table are called from any of the programs stored in another internal table. In this case i am looping on two internal tables (Loop within a loop) which is causing a major performance issue. Program is running very very slow.
Can any one advise how to resolve this performance issue so that program runs faster.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Chetan.Forget the parallel cursur stuff, it is much to complicated for general usage and helps nearly nothing. I will publish a blog in the next days where this is shown in detail.
Loop on loop is no problem if the inner table is a hashed or sorted table.
If it must be a standard table, then you must make a bit more effort and faciliate a binary search (read binary search / loop from index exit)
see here the exact coding Measurements on internal tables: Reads and Loops:
/people/siegfried.boes/blog/2007/09/12/runtimes-of-reads-and-loops-on-internal-tables
And don't forget, the other table must not be sorted, the loop reaches anyway every line. The parallel cursor requires both tables to be sorted. The additional sort
consumes nearly the whole advantage of the parallel cursor compared to the simple but good loop in loop solutions.

As of last week we've been having major performance issues within our environment. All the reports that used to take 15-30 seconds to load is taking as much as 2-3 minutes. this is happening all across the board with all users. There hasn't been much change in our environment, just wanted to pass this message along to see if anyone else is having the same issues. We are using BPC 7 on MS2010.
thanks,
ElmerHi Elmer,
on my technical view maybe it will happen the same when you open the report in server.
Delete TEMPFILES that are no longer be needed.. because this quiet large data if you calculate a large package of calculation.
Shrink un-necessary database logfile in your SQL which it quite large and made a performance problem.
Check process on your server is that any unwanted application run actively such as viruses or others.
Restarting the server is the last option.
hope helps. -
I had done a system restore to restore my computer the way it was 24 hours ago to fix some PC issues (couldn't uninstall some programs that I was going to reinstall to fix performance issues); I have three other Adobe programs of my computer that are still there, but where Flash was my most recent acquisition, it was removed when I performed the system restore. When I tried to re-download the program, CC still thinks Flash is still on my computer; I have uninstalled and reinstalled CC, gone through the program files for traces of Flash (didn't delete or alter anything, but also didn't find anything pertaining to Flash), deleted the Temp folder, attempted to download Flash Professional CC directly from the CC website, but none of these made any changes. Is there any way to manually download Flash, or "reset" CC to get it to notice Flash isn't on my computer anymore?
It still didn't help - it removed CC from my computer, and I reinstalled it, but I've already tried that. It still says Flash Professional CC is still there (I installed Flash CS6, too, as a substitute in the meantime, but I still need Flash CC). Flash Professional CC isn't on my computer anymore - it was deleted in a system restore, but CC says it's still there, so I can't reinstall it. Is there a direct download I can use?

Performance issues in latest PPAPI Flash Player releases?
Hi there,
I've recently noticed some pretty serious performance issues in the latest versions of the PPAPI Flash Player in Chrome.
I'm using:
Windows 7 64-bit
Chrome Version 41.0.2272.101 m (64-bit)
Flash Player PPAPI Version: 17.0.0.134
I've noticed a large drop in performance recently when updating Chrome, I have been using Away3D 4.1 (using Stage3D) to create a series of Generative Art experiments, if you check out the one below I find that in Internet Explorer and Firefox (using the NPAPI version of the Flash Player) the FPS performance on my system is around 35-40 fps for me, but in Chrome's PPAPI player it drops drastically to around 6 or 7 fps.
I just recently updated my Chrome version so this is a recent change... around a few weeks ago this content was working fine in Chrome, around the same 35-40 fps I am getting in other browsers.
http://waroo.com/genart9s
Is anyone else out there seeing these performance issues with recent releases of Chrome's PPAPI Flash Player?Hi Quentin,
