Major Problems, Looking for Solutions

Let me start at the beginning, which would be this past Monday (I think that's when it started). Went to bed the night before, computer was working fine, left it on (It's a Mac Mini G4 btw). Woke up, and the screen was white. Thought that something may have locked up during the night, as my screen saver has white elements in it, and restarted with the power button, and it still wasn't working properly. I turned it upside down, and was able to get some things done (turning it upside down is an old Playstation trick, but it worked at that point) but it kept locking up.
The next day, the problem worsened to where I would get the apple on the startup screen, but I either wouldn't get the wheel, or the wheel would show up and keep turning. Called up the store where I got the Mini, fearing it was the hard drive like it was with the tower I got before the Mini, and they mentioned something about 90 bucks to just look at it, and along the lines of 90 if it was the hard drive. Mini's 2 years old, and was a G4, and I was not in a position to spend 200 bucks, so I researched a couple of options... they had a 90 days same as cash loan deal on their webpage, and I applied, and got it.
So now I'm typing this from a new iMac, but there are still a few issues. When I connected the iMac to the Mini to try and download all my settings and files, it froze up in the middle of the transfer. It continues to do that when I try and get any of the files off of it. I was able to back up some of the files to an external hard drive (I got nearly all of my personal pictures luckily), but right now I'm stuck with all of my music and movies on my iPod and a couple of things I was able to grab before the firewire connection froze on me. I read a suggestion to try and reinstall the OS on the Mini, and once it went to a blue screen with just the wheel and kept on that, and when I restarted, I got the blinking ?, so I tried to reinstall the OS again, and now when I start up the Mini, I get a window that says Mac OS, but nothing else.
There is a Mac Store that I can drive to, and after reading the forums here, I wish that I had called them first, since 40 bucks is definitely more within my price range for a diagnostic, but of course, now I've got to worry about the 90 days same as cash loan. If I could get the Mini working and get the rest of my files off of it, I would be very happy of course. If I could get it working so I could sell it and get some money towards that loan, even better!

Sorry to hear about the problems with you mini.
When the hard drive started acting up, I think the step to have taken would have been to insert your Mac OS X Installation disc (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
I still recommend this, though it may be less effective since you have tried a re-install first.
With regards to trying to firewire you old settings and files from the Mini to the new iMic, I'd recommend not using the Migration Assistant. Just use the Finder and concentrate on the files, not the settings.
Any programs you want to move should preferably be reinstalled from the original discs, and not copied over.
Settings from a PPC Panther mac transfered to Intel Tiger Mac can be a source of trouble for the new Mac. And this is doubly true when there is known corruption on the old Mac's filesystem.
Once you have salvaged what you can from the old Mac, you may still be able to save the hard disk, though it will require a total erasure and "zeroing" and reformatting using DiskUtility.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.

thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.

1st major problem encountered for new iphone user

I recently upgraded to an iphone (22 August 2009) and I have just encountered my first major problem (one previous problem was of the iphone freezing whilst connected to my laptop, which resulted in having to restore it).
My recent problem is this; I was in the middle of writing a text but decided not to send it so I shook the phone to delete the text. when I looked at my screen everything had increased in scale! Everything is enormous. I can't answer calls because the 'slide to answer' is so large that it won't fully slide across the screen. I can't turn the 'phone off for the same reason. In fact I can't do anything with it. I have never dropped it or got it wet, in fact I am extremely careful with it, I keep it in a snug leather case so there has not been any physical damage to it. So what do you think has happened? Has this ever happened to anyone else? I am a uk customer and have not yet had the 'phone for 90 days. Where do I stand in terms of guarantee?

There's nothing wrong with your phone! You have just accidentally enabled the Accessibility Zoom feature.
Double-tap the screen with 3 fingers to turn it off.
Go into Settings > General > Accessibility to turn it off permanently.
(BTW, all this is in the manual.)

Teacher looking for solution to generating a document linked to class roster.

I'm looking for an electronic version of the label.
I want to create a document (like a worksheet) that has fields for Name, Hour, Date at the top. Then, I'd like the PDF to generate a worksheet per student on my roster, automatically filling in the fields with their roster info.
When printed, every student would get a worksheet with their own name on it.
Any thoughts?

I've been working on and with a VS2013 Update 2 / Azure SDK 2.3 Cloud Service project for a while now and never had a problem debugging it (setting the .ccproj Project as Startup Project) but at the moment I cannot Debug it anymore - I always get the following
error message:
Failed to debug the Windows Azure Cloud Service project. The output directory 'D:\Workspace\Development\Sources\AzureBackend\csx\Backend - Debug' does not exist.
Now what's odd here, is the last part - the "Backend - Debug" is the Solution configuration name, ALL projects in that particular solution configuration are set to the Debug Configuration. The .ccproj file also only specifies Debug|Any CPU (and
Release|Any CPU respectively) as its output folder(s). Why is the Solution config appearing up there?
And more importantly.. why is this happening and what can I do?!

connect bug and these sorts of issues do appear around the forums but none contains a solution (neither reinstalling the Azure SDK nor cloaking the workspace/re-retrieving & building everything worked).

I already tried de-installing everything Azure-Tooling related including the Azure SDK, Restarting my machine and re-installing the SDK.
Same result. I can build the .ccproj perfectly fine and the cspack file IS generated perfectly fine, only debugging does not work and there's NO information in the VS output window (again - all projects succeed to build).
I tried explicitely running VS as Administrator, no change. I removed all IIS Express sites (as the ccproj has one web worker role), remapped my local TFS workspace.. nothing helped.
As building works, deploying to Azure Cloud Service (manually and via Publish inside VS) all works -perfectly-, I am pretty sure this IS a bug and I'd LOVE to help to get this fixed. As I said, currently I cannot debug and/or run & test my work, hence
I cannot do ANY work.

TilePuzzle Class - Not looking for solution just how to do each method

The TilePuzzle class represents the basic functionality of the tile puzzle game. Even if there is no window or text interface available, you should be able to play the game using an instance of the TilePuzzle object in the interactions pane. All other classes are used for display purposes; to show the contents of the TilePuzzle.
This class is reponsible for performing the following operations:
   1. At creation, it initializes the instance variables used to store the current state of the game.
   2. When a move is specified, it checks if it is a legal move and makes the move if it is legal.
   3. It reports information about the current state of the game when asked (whether the player has won the game, how many moves have been made, what the current tile layout is, etc.)
You are required to implement the following methods for this class:
Method Name      Description
TilePuzzle
The constructor for this class. This constructor takes in a two-dimensional array of integers, and uses this array to initialize its internal game grid. The grid represents the tile layout: the first dimension of the input array is assumed to be the horizontal dimension of the tile layout, and the second dimension of the array is the vertical dimension of the tile layout. The top-left grid position occurs at position (0,0). For example, in a 4x4 array called grid, the value in the top-right corner would be at grid[3][0], and the bottom left value would be at grid[0][3]. The one empty space in the layout of a tile puzzle is represented in the appropriate position in the grid with the value -1. You may assume that there will only ever be one empty space (-1) in the grid.
The constructor should also set all the default values for the other instance variables used.
moveTile
After the grid has been read and stored, the moveTile method takes in a single integer value that indicates a tile to move, and moves that tile into the blank tile's position, if it is a legal move. A move is only legal if the specified number exists in the grid, and if the specified tile's position is adjacent to the blank tile's position. The method returns a boolean value to indicate whether the move was made.
hasWon
This method takes in no values, and returns a boolean value to indicate whether the current grid layout is a winning configuration or not. A winning configuration has the number 1 in the top-left corner, and increases incrementally from left to right along the row, continuing into the following rows (see illustation above). The empty space should be in the bottom-right corner of the grid.
numTileMoves      This method takes in no values, and returns an integer that represents the number of tile moves performed so far. Actions that have not resulted in a tile being moved are not counted.
maxTileValue
This method takes in no values, and returns the highest value that a tile in this puzzle can have, assuming that the first tile has a value of 1 and the other tile values increase incrementally (by 1).
getGrid
This method returns a two-dimensional array of integers that represents the current grid of tile values. The first dimension of the array represents the horizontal dimension of the grid, and the second dimension of the array represents the vertical dimension of the grid. The orientation of this grid should be consistent with that of the constructor's input parameter, so see that method's description for more clarification.
equals
This method compares the contents of this TilePuzzle object to the given TilePuzzle and returns true if their tile grids match. It takes in a single TilePuzzle parameter to use in the comparison, and returns false if:
    * The two tile grids have the same dimensions
    * <<<<<<< index.shtml The numbers in each grid are in the same positions ======= The grids have the same dimensions, but the numbers are in different positions. >>>>>>> 1.15
toString
Returns a String that represents the current layout of the grid in String form. Each row of the grid is separated by a newline character '\n', the adjacent tiles are separated by spaces, and the blank tile is represented with an asterisk ('*') character. For example, the winning layout for a tile grid with 3 rows and 4 columns would look like the following:

             5 6 7 8
             9 10 11 *"
There should be no leading or trailing spaces in each line of this String, and there should be no newline character after the final row.

I have installed the Drivers and Full Feature Software in order to get Solution Center, so that I could scan multiple photos into individual files. It still does not appear as installed. I have an HP DV6-73680L laptop running Windows 8.1.

Note the description at the bottom of the page regarding the scanning feature. It is unlikely that the exact feature you seek is included. There are times that the description is somewhat lacking in detail.

Looking for solution to calendar event request

I am building a site in Dreamweaver CS4 for a client. For the calendar, I'm using Google Calendar which fits the scheme nicely, but now the client wants more...a way of listing upcoming events, probably on the home page. Google provides source code for displaying a conventional calendar on an html page, but I'm not sure how to populate a column with events which appear in the calendar.
Does anyone have a quick and ready solution for this?
