Major Problems with itunes 10.4.1 and appletv

Is anyone having issues with the 10.4.1 upgrade of iTunes? Specifically, I use itunes to create movie playlists for my appletv, and
today I was trying to create a new playlist; I always add the movie file to itunes, then  "convert file for appletv". This is a nice
compression within itunes.  But, everytime I highlight the file, click "convert" itunes crashes! I have tried several versions of the
quicktime file, and still.. crash after crash.  In the side bar, "converting" appears, but as soon as I touch the mouse, the spinning wheel
of dread comes my way.  Any advice? I desperately need to add this file to my appletv for a presentation tomorrow!

Problems with iTunes. Music. When I put on my ear buds, I hear it more clearly. There is this skipping and hisses. If you are an old (50)audiophile like I was when I was young, it sounds sort of like a record is skipping on my turntable. When I try to play a song it skips, jumps around and the Sound is terrible. • Problems with iTunes 7 cover flow and remote desktop

Hi. iTunes 7 is an amazing upgrade, but unfortunatly the nicest addtion doesn't work for me with remote desktop, which is how I primarily access my music server.
When using remote desktop, and I switch to cover flow, I just get a message in the cover flow panel saying something to the effect of "itunes cannot display...".
    Any help appreciated.

I had major issues until I visited http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304434 and turned my Terminal Services back on. I had set it to "Disable" to save resources. Once I set it to "manual", the IPOD worked great with Itunes.

  • Problems with iTunes 10.6.1 and Apple TV 3.0.2

    Hi
I'm having problems with syncing my Apple TV (ATV) 3.0.2 to iTunes 10.6.1: Only a random sub-set of my music and videos appears against the ATV in iTunes and a different sub-set is actually showing on the ATV itself.  There are no error messages reported and the ATV is visible in iTunes. I have tried the following:
Rebooting the ATV - no difference
Disconnecting from iTunes and then reconnecting - no difference
Performing a factory reset on the ATV - when the ATV first came back (with software version 2.whatever) all of my media was visible against the ATV in iTunes and on the ATV.  However, once it had updated to the latest level (3.0.2) I was back to square one!
Has anyone else found this problem and, if so, is there a fix or work-around?
    Thanks
    Robin

I have an old macbook too.
It seems like Apple writes new software that makes older computers not work as well.
I always have reservations about updating with an older model.
Does anybody else have any problems with the new iTunes?

  • Problems with Itunes 10.5.1 and Windows 7

    Sirs,
yesterday my old pc with Windows XP SP3 was replaced by a new laptop with Windows 7 32 bits.
When I tried to install the new version 10.5.1 of itunes show several errors and don't work.
I install then the version 10.1.4 and was installed without problems but don't accept my Ipod touch because requires the new version of software.
Then, I tried to download the new version using the Itunes update manager and failed to install the version again.

  • SEVERE, MAJOR Problems with ITunes Video Playback on 64-bit Win7

So I got a new rig (ASUS G74SX running 64-bit Win7 Home Prem) after I figured my nearly 5-year old HP Pav dv9500t running 32-bit Vista Home Prem had put in good years of work.  In using ITunes on the Vista system, I never really saw problems with its player on video podcasts.
Completely different story on the Win7 machine.  Aside from all the other problems noted with ITunes itself (not the player) in this forum, there is this:
    1. When something like UAC occurs, the video clip runs in the player, but the video is frozen (like a photographic still) while the audio continues to run on normally.  Workaround:  minimize then restore the player window, then the video part of playback returns.  Of course that gets annoying doing that multiple times after a while.
    2. With one video podcast (for example, The Young Turks podcasts), while the audio again continues normally, the video track lags unbelievably.  The video appears in slow motion.  The viewer risks a headache from vertigo if the viewer continues watching slow motion video unmatched with the normal audio.
At first I considered the possiblity that it was related to a 5400 rpm hard disk drive, which came with the new machine and I would not have normally have not bought myself, but I had someone buying it for me (my HP system only had 7200 rpm drives...what is ASUS thinking in letting Best Buy do a performance markdown?).  Then I played that video podcast with VLC media player, and it absolutely had NO problem keeping up with the video and audio.  (Another thing to like and prefer with this player is that you can keep the window on top.)
Seriously, the programming group at ITunes should be ashamed and maybe every member of its group should consider getting another day job.  With each revision, ITunes seems to get worse.

My installation of version 10.6.x of ITunes does not have QuickTime.
As of version 10.5 of ITunes, QuickTime is no longer apparently bundled with ITunes, which clearly has its own player.  In addition, I have used a minimal install of ITunes.  This eliminates the install of the bug-ridden Bonjour service, which was filling up Windows event logs needlessly and crashing from time to time anyway.
Now although I installed ITunes only a few days ago in this new laptop, I did find ITunes in the Programs & Features page and clicked Repair.  After the "repair," I played the video revealing the flaws of the ITunes player, and the playback problems were still there.  I used the other media player and it played flawlessly.

  • Having a major problem with iTunes!!

My nan decided to use my laptop as I got a new one and it was better than hers. My old iTunes library was on there and she deleted all the files and the content on both the library and the laptop. She then logged into her apple ID account through itunes but none of her tracks are coming up. She has recently bought songs from her phone using the same iTunes account and it's not coming up on the library. I told her that she could have deleted all her files as well as mine and recent purchases might not even be on there. I don't exactly know what she's done and I think she's completly messed up her account :/
If anyone could help me out with this and whether you need more detail about this as its a bit conplicated and confusing. She doesn't know what she's deleted; she just deleted everything from all the files to make the computer "brand new". She obviously has never heard of a factory reset.
Thanks and I hope you can help!
because i am posting this through my account - the apple product i have selected has nothing to do with this question
she is using a windows laptop not a macbook

    Hi saff.tropical,
Happy Holidays!  Congratulations on the purchase of your new computer. It's nice of you to pass on your old computer to your nan.  If I'm understanding your question, your nan has an older Windows notebook computer, your newer Windows notebook computer, and an iPhone -- is that right?
The first thing I would suggest is that she create a new User Account on the notebook computer you just gave to her.   Next, if she doesn't have a backup of her iTunes music library from her old computer, she should create one on an external drive.
Finally, she can copy the music from the external drive to her "new" computer.
I'll include some resources below that will explain this in a little more detail.
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203206
    Create a new user account
By creating a new user account, you can determine if the issue affects a specific Windows user account or all accounts. Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Choose Start > Control Panel.
Open "Add or remove user accounts." (If you're using the Classic view in Windows Vista, open "User Accounts," and then open "Manage another account.")
Select "Create a new account" and follow the instructions to set up the account.
Once you create the new account, choose Start > Log Off.
Log in to the new user account.
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4527
    Before you begin
Make a new backup of your iTunes library or update your existing backup before you move it. Even if you already have a backup of your iTunes library, this step makes sure you capture any changes and makes the process easier.
    Migration
If you want to move your library to a new Mac, you can migrate your data from another Mac or a PC. If you are replacing your PC, you might be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. This option might be slower than other options, but it's more thorough.
    Use an external drive
If you're using this method on a Mac:
From the Finder menu, choose Preferences.
Make sure that the boxes next to "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.
    Part 1: Install iTunes
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Part 2: Move any new content
If you’ve used iTunes on your new computer, move your media to a new folder. This will keep anything you added to your new computer separate from your old library. These files can be added back to your library in Part 4.
Move your iTunes Media folder (Mac)
Move your iTunes Media folder (Windows)
Part 3: Copy the iTunes backup from your old computer
To copy all of your media files, including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings, to your new computer:
Locate the following folder on your new computer.
Mac: Choose Go > Home from the Finder menu bar. Double click the Music folder.
    Windows XP: Navigate to \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\.
    Windows Vista: Navigate to \Users\username\Music\iTunes.
    Windows 7 and Windows 8: Navigate to \Users\username\My Music\iTunes.
Drag the iTunes folder in this location onto the desktop.
Mac: From the Music folder to the Desktop:
Windows: From the My Music folder to the Desktop:
Locate the external drive on your new computer:
    Mac: On the desktop.
Windows: In My Computer or Computer.
Double-click the external drive icon to open it.
Drag the iTunes folder from your external drive to the Music folder (Mac) or My Music Folder (Windows) on your new computer. The transfer might take a while if you have a lot of content.
Mac: From the external drive to the Music folder:
Windows: From the external drive to the Music library:
    Open iTunes.
You've now moved all of your music, playlists, and other information—including play counts and ratings—from your old computer to your new one.
Part 4 (optional): Add back new content
Copy the iTunes Media folder you created in Part 2 into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder inside the iTunes Media folder you copied in Part 3. iTunes will automatically import the content.
    Use iTunes in the Cloud
If you don’t have a backup of your iTunes library and your old computer is unavailable, you can download past purchases made with your Apple ID through iTunes in the Cloud.
If you have multiple Apple IDs, you might find it easier to transfer purchases from a device after authorizing your new computer with your Apple ID.
If you previously subscribed to iTunes Match, you can turn on iTunes Match once your new computer is authorized.
    After you transfer your library
If you plan to stop using your old computer, deauthorize it by choosing Store > Deauthorize This Computer from the iTunes menu bar.
If you used iTunes on your old computer to back up your iOS device, back up your devices on your new computer or manually transfer the backups from your old computer. Learn more about creating and deleting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch backups in iTunes.
If you used iCloud with your old computer for syncing, set up iCloud on your new computer.
If you will continue to use your old computer, recreate your iTunes library. This prevents an iOS device from seeing the old computer as the new one because of the old library files.

  • MAJOR problems with ITunes

I got hit with a virus 3 weeks ago so I bought a portable harddrive, backed up what files I ould and totally reboot the computer back to factory standards.
Then I installed better security (Mcafee total protection 2011), scanned everything (turned out fine) and then copied the files back to my computer.
Windows media player had no issues whatsoever, in fact it workes better now than it ever has, however I have had to download ITunes 3 times now and it still will not work properly.
    1) It says: "ITunes cannot browse album covers on this computer" in Cover Flow mode even though the album covers show up in other views
    2) It only brought in a small portion of my music files
    3) It made multiple copies (sometimes 2 sometimes 3) of the songs it did add
    4) It didn't recognize albums so for several albums (and several album collections) I have the songs scattered all over the place, and again with multiple copies
What is with Apple that they can't design a media player that works properly??????? A friend told me that I should just upload my songs directly to ITunes but when I have done so in the past and there was an error it's a ***** to fix in ITunes, sometimes ITunes even refused to accept the corrections I gave it
I really hate ITunes but I have an IPod so I need it...thus the question becomes, how do I get ITunes to behave properly? I need it to convert ALL my music files so they can be played with ITunes and on my IPod? How do I get it to display the album covers in Cover Flow like it used to just 3 (LONG!!! :-)  ) weeks ago?
Please tell me there's an easy way to do this. If I have to go and manually re-add the remaining music and manually rearrange the information already in ITunes I will go nuts!!!!!!!!!! That's waaaaaaaaaaay too much work
I have Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 3100 that was purchased in April of 2006.
Please someone help me save my sanity :-)

Tried it again, doesn't work. I deleted, uninstalled and shredded every ITunes and Apple file I could find, deleted and removed all the McAfee I could find and reinstalled ITunes.
I figured out why it wasn't converting all of my music (need to ignore the direction on the reinstall to find all the MP3 and AAC files, open ITunes and import the "My Music" folder) and why it was making duplicates (because for some reason there were duplicates on my computer)...got that sorted but it STILL won't browse album covers when less than a month ago (before the virus) it was doing so.

  • Having a problem with iTunes 10.7 update and syncing songs to my iPhone 4

Can anybody help me out please. I just recently downloaded iTunes 10.7 and whenever I try to sync songs to my iPhone 4 it freezes for about 5 minutes. I go onto my phone to check if the songs have been synced and it says they're there, however, they won't play. Instead of the song name being in a black coloured font it's kind of in a white/grey coloured font and you can't do anything with them. Does anyone know what the problem is? I tried uninstalling iTunes then reinstalling it but that hasn't worked either. I've also tried to reset my phone to its default settings, although the same problem occurs.

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

  • IPhone4: Major problems with iTunes (latest) on Windows 7 machine.

I've had nothing but issues. I managed originally to get my iPhone to restore as a new phone a while ago, but ever since I have faced endless problems. It will work fine, syncing every day then out of nowhere I will get errors popping up, saying things like 'Unable to sync, internal device error', 'Unknown error occurred', 'A folder was found instead of a file'... that sort of thing.
So then, I am forced to wipe the phone by putting it into recovery mode (as the usual method of selecting recover from the summary screen in iTunes yields the same errors).
From there, I am unable to restore from a backup as no matter which backup I select it says that the backup session had failed (seems that iPhone backups on Windows 7 are pointless).
I then set up the phone as a new phone, install everything again, re-organise all my apps (about 50+ of them) and away I go again. The phone will then work fine for a week or so, then the errors return. Rinse & repeat.
However, this is where things turned to sh*t. Now when these errors occur I am no longer able to restore the phone at all on my Windows 7 PC. I get the same internal device errors after selecting to set it up as a new phone. The size of the visible HDD also then reduces to 4GB (down from 32GB).
So, now every time this happens, I'm forced to go to either my work XP machine and set it up again, or use my father-in-law's Macbook. However, both of these options are not very convenient.
I've tried everything from completely removing iTunes and all Apple software and re-installing (c/o several hours on the phone with Apple support), trying different USB ports (not that that should be an issue since my PC is nearly new) and a different USB cable, however nothing works.
Do you think that the phone itself is truly experiencing some sort of hardware failure when I'm getting the 'internal device error' messages? This is driving me mental.

I see no one has posted, however after much screwing about by myself. I may just have it sorted.
I realised there was some sort of conflict between iTunes/iPhone and my virus software (Avast). I investigated further and found that specifically that the problem was with the incoming mail scanner in Avast, so after disabling that - in addition to replacing my USB cable which was a bit old and tatty - everything appears to be working much smoother. I've had no issues connection my device, and it has been backing up & syncing without problem for the past week.
Now I just hope that this continues.

  • Problem with itunes 5.0

I called HP on saturday to see if they could help me with my ipod. It quit working. HP informed me that there was some major problems with itunes and that was causing my ipod not to work. HP walked me through the process of deleting itunes 5.0 and walked me through resetting my ipod. Now when I try to play the music i purchased in itunes it tells me i'm not authorized and to authorize i need to enter my id and password. When I do this it takes me to the music store to download 5.0. I only have one computer so there is no one else using my account. When I go under advance in itunes there is no button for authorize. Any suggestions? I don't want to download 5.0 again because I don't want to have to start over. I am not happy because of all the money i spent buying music and i can't listen to it.

At this point in time, I can't speculate about the patch, other than Apple is definitely aware there is a problem which they are working to resolve. For myself, I downloaded 5.0 just fine without any hitches, but then the first couple of times I used it, I realized I have no sound/playback. My issue has now occurred with a number of other people, also. Basically, I'm not connecting my iPod to iTunes until I'm convinced that the problems are resolved. No sound is bad enough, but I don't want any of the other issues. My music is safe as I store it on an external HD, but I just don't want to take any chances.
Bottom line, once the patch is released, it might be prudent to wait several days to see if the installation issues with 5.0 start resolving. Keep in mind this is just my opinion as I am another user like yourself.

  • Is anybody else having problems with itunes (10.6.3.25) and ipod touch (5.1.1)?

Lately I've been having a ton of problems with iTunes and my iPod Touch (4th generation). Lots of error messages such as can't connect to itunes store, incompatible application, ipod detected but not identifiable, invalid response received from device, unknown errors [mostly (0xE8000001)], problem with audio configuration, etc. I've done everything I could think of. Uninstalling iTunes (with all the components) then reinstalling with the newest version (10.6.3.25), running diagnostics and such. If it does appear (about 2% of the time) then iTunes freezes and/or it won't sync. I also try to change some info (song title, artist, artwork, etc)(when it DOES come up) and it shows up on itunes but not on my ipod. My ipod appears on my computer but not in iTunes under devices like its supposed to. I've been to all the support threads I can possibly find and NOTHING has helped. I also had the latest version for the ipod touch (5.1.1). And I've never had any issues with iTunes or my iPod touch before. I know I should probably try restoring my ipod but I absolutely do not want to do that unless I have to because i have a lot of music, apps, movies, etc I'm not able to back up. Also, I'm using a Windows 7 computer. Please Please help if you can, I am frustrated because I can't do anything.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
