MAJOR Staggering Stuttering Fast Forwarding with XP Pro SP2 32bit & MBP

This is super odd. My computer is acting like its too powerful for programs. Whenever I play games, the sound will stutter a bit and the fps (frames per second) will decrease rapidly but then the games return to normal. Even with YouTube. When I play a video, right in the middle, the audio and video will stagger and then jump back up. Do I need to disable a CPU or something? This is driving me mad. Also, this is with the new Mac Book Pro (maxed settings). I searched the forums and I can't find anyone with this problem.

Hi,
XP is notorious for its proper support of Dual-Core processors.
It's an error with the scheduler of XP which is known by Microssoft according to their Knowledge-Base-Articles KB896256 and KB909944.
There seems to be a problem with the energy-saving-techniques of the CPU resulting in differences and varying of the speed of the two Cores.
When Windows tries to switch programm-threads between the cores it gets confused with their different states of Energy-Saving, so that the threads/the programm run at different speeds while switching between the two cores.
Therefor Windows gets confused with its Time Stamp Counter resulting in a stuttering of the Programm / Playback.
There is a fix from Microsoft for it and you can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=c2ab5a48 -8240-4934-bbd8-34fb8a0fce3b
Another possibility for solving is to deactivate any sort of energy saving within XP.
Another one is to limitate the Core-Usage of the programm to one CPU-core with the Task-Manager while the Programm itself runs.
Also some guys in this forum had success with disableing their WLAN and/or turning down the Hardware Accelaration for the Audio unit.
Hope it helps.

  • IMovie and Fast Forward NDT200/MiniDVR Pro

    Hi guys,
Happy New year to you all!
I'm about to venture into a project and would like to know if anyone has had experience of using the Fast Forward Video NDT200 or the MiniDVR Pro (VCR's) with iMovie HD6?
Not sure if either would be compatible (record mode is .mov format).
    Thanks for any advice.

If you set the NDT-200 to record in .mov format then it will make movies that work in any quicktime application. What you will have to do is record first then transfer the movies into the mac after recording.
I'm also working on device control software for use on the Mac, It's presently in beta.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11 plays like its stuck on fast forward with no sound

I just finished setting up windows xp professional sp3 after a recent hard drive failure. My registry and everything are checking out ok. However when i try to watch vids on youtube or any that would use flash player they play like their stuck on fastforward. Please help I would like to be able to watch videos.

Flash player is still running too fast without sound multiple system restarts and flash reinstalls have not fixed it either. I have also uninstalled it before installing it. I am running windows xp proffesional sp3. My os was just reinstalled a day ago after my primary hard drive died. I don't think its a problem with the registry have ran multiple scans with vipre and tunup utilities everything is clean. I honestly would like to watch videos please.

  • SB Live with XP Pro (SP2) causes problems with no sou

Ok, my computer rs relativley "old". It's a gateway from about... 2000, with a Pentium IV, .3 Ghrz, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 video card, and I'm not sure exactly what sound card it is, I think it's SB Li've! 24-bit... or whatever came standard with these gateways from back then. Now, for some reason, after I reformatted my comp and put XP pro with SP2 on there, SB Li've doesn't work. It worked fine on XP pro without SP2 (except for the devldr32.exe thing, but I fixed that). I put the CD in, say to install it fully, then a message comes up saying that there is no CD... after auto-playing off of it! So I hit continue and the message popped right back up, so I hit cancel and it continued with the installation. I chose to restart the comp now, and I heard the sound of windows logging off, so I assumed it was working. But then when it came back on, my taskbar wouldn't some up all of the way and there was no sound. I right-clicked on the taskbar and chose to view quick launch and it popped up, but I couldn't adjust the length of the quicklaunch section, even when i unlocked it, the right border thing wasn't there. It is very irritating and I couldn't find any drivers that would help this. Anyone know what's wrong? I would e-mail for support, but I highly doubt the warranty is still good. I would be EXTREMELY thankful for anyone who could even lead me in the right direction. Thank you.

And, you can be certain it's not a Li've! 24-bit. They didn't make them back then! It's either a Li've! 5. (probable) or a Li've! 4. (unlikely if the computer was really manufactured in 2000).
You can try removing anything that was possibly added by your using the cd, then letting XP install its nati've driver for it. I would download DriverCleaner from driverheaven.net. If there's nothing in Add/Remove Programs (as there probably isn't if your attempt to install the cd version of the driver (provided by Gateway?) failed before finishing), then go into device manager and remove anything related to the card and reboot to Safe Mode and run DriverCleaner. Delete the Creative Folder in Program Files that your cd probably made. Reboot and let XP install its driver. Reboot again.
That's probably the best your going to get if Gateway didn't update the Creative software for SP2. You could attempt to install the Li've Uni-Pack stuff from the download section here, but it might or might not work on the OEM card you have. If the software on your Gateway/Creative cd had problems then your probably going to just be able to use the nati've Windows XP driver. You will still be able to adjust your settings with the Windows audio controls, but won't be able to use Creative software.
You would need to contact Gateway to see if they really don't have a package for this. Did you check their website for updates for your model?

  • Slow-Motion and Fast forward

    Hi,
Let me know if you can implement these functions with OSMF.
    Thanks
    Steve

If you use RTMP streaming with FMS you need to check the docs for NetStream.step() method:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/beta/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStrea m.html#step()
Implementing this in OSMF is not trivial. You'll need to get deep into the OSMF NetLoader APIs (there are lots of posts explaining how to create custom NetLoaders in this forum).
You can also emulate fast-forward with seek() calls, and slow-motion with pause() calls This might be somewhat easier to implement and it will work for progressive content too, but the performance might be much worse than using the step() approach.
Let us know how it goes,
    Andrian

  • Using colour profiles with Windows XP Pro SP2

    Hi,
Freshly-installed WIndows XP Pro SP2 on the Unibody MBP.
I note that in the advanced display settings there is a tab for colour management. It offers the opportunity to add a .icc or .icx (I think) colour profile. I copied across my .icc-prefixed colour profile from my Leopard install, added it, and Windows reports it as invalid.
Can anyone tell me how (or whether it's possible) to make a Leopard-created .icc profile work with XP Pro SP2? If it's not possible, can someone suggest some free software for XP Pro SP2 that I can use to achieve a similar result?
    Thanks.

Got the error message 3256 after downloaded latest itunes version 8.xx.
After days of reading logs and bullentin boards, uninstalling, hard resets, firewalls experiments, etc, I found solution for me. Following firmware upgrade to airport express solved. When you go to Apple download center and search for airport revisions only the MAc version pops up. However they do have this one for windows. Give it a try. Good luck.

  • Windows XP Pro (SP2) freezes up after Install

    To any and all,
I just downloaded the windows version of J2SE v1.4.2_09 SDK with Netbeans Bundle 4.1. The down load went fine, and so did the install.
However, after starting Netbeans, my system freezes up. I've stopped and restarted it, and I even got to the point of being able to type in a simple program, such as "Hello World" just to make sure things are working. But my system freezes up and the CPU utilization pegs out at 100% and I'm forced to reboot.
I have 768 mg of memory with a Pentium III 733 mhz.
What did I miss during the setup process, or what other Windows System changes do I need to make every thing work properly?
I took a basic JAVA class at SUN several years ago, and I haven't had a chance to use it. I need to bone up and I'm not having a very good start.
After some additional research I have some more info. It looks like my old Pentium III is using x86 technology, and the Install Notes/System Requirements on Sun's Download page is referencing IA32 Windows with XP Pro SP2.
Sorry, I'm not a big hardware buff. Could this be my problem with the system locking up? Incompatible chip processors?
The JAVA 2 SDK v1.3.1 only specifies the Op System, XP Pro is among those listed along with a Pentium 166 MHz or higher processor. But it is at the End Of Life for that version.
Are my assumptions correct, the SDK v1.3.1 might work on my machine, but won't be supported any more. While the newer SDK versions are what I want, but I'll need a newer machine to support them?
I am just trying to advance my career a bit and bone up on JAVA. Sounds like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.
Any suggestions, assumptions, ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks again.

What did I miss during the setup process, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
    or what
other Windows System changes do I need to make every
thing work properly? Windows doesn't work properly to begin with, so not sure it's possible to make everything work properly. You could always reinstall Windows (temporary solution).

  • Using WinXP Pro 64 Beta and WinXP PRO SP2?

I could not get Games (Half life, Counter Strike, Doom) to work using my beta system. Every time I launch a game the OS gives me the DEP error. I select "allow all". Still no go.
I installed the HD from my old Pentium Based PC(as slave)which is loaded with WinXP Pro SP2 and everything else in the world. I don't have the origional CD because it was loaned to me from my company(Which is why I loaded Beta to this AMD system in the first place). I work from home sometimes. (good excuse?).
I can see all of the files in the old drive using explorer. I tried launching the games from the explorer and got the same negative results.
How do I get the correct Via, AMD, MSI, etc drivers on my XP-32 bit HD so I can boot to it?
Is There a way to run both OS at same time. This chip is hypertheading, so theoretically it acts like two processors?
I now have 3 80G HD. One with WinXP ProSP2, One, 64-bit Beta, One on SATA drive with XP Home SP2 (unregistered)lost that key too--it was a disk that came with a Dell Laptop.

    hi
you should really do a clean install for the OSes as the CPUs are differant and need differant drivers etc, most poeple who try to transfer HDDs have probs, until the re partition, format and install.
Many systems can co exist, the boot under XP 64 will find installations and form a boot screen to access them all.  Your going to need a XP CD to reinstall I fear. but then you might be lucky,  if you formatted 1 disk, loaded XP 64 bit edition and let it set the C:> drive with Boot files and drivers you might get away with it.
    cheers

  • T400 w/ XP Pro SP2

I just ordered and received a T400 (2764CTO) with XP Pro SP2 installed (Vista Business w/XP Pro downgrade).  Is there some reason why Lenovo has not upgraded to SP3?  Are there issues with upgrading to SP3?  Thanks.

    Hello,
I installed Windows XP (SP2) on my T400, and updated it to SP3. No issues at all.

  • After i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.

First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.

  • Major Issues with Premiere Pro CC

I am currently having some major issues with Premiere Pro CC running on my macbook pro(specs below).
I am trying to export a 4 minute video using the vimeo 1080p export settings as I usually do, and it takes about 10 hours to export the video. On cs6, a similar project would take 5-10 minutes.
Also, the video that was exported contained a lot of clips that came out choppy and low quality.
I am currently on the phone with tech support, and they cannot seem to figure out what is wrong.
I have seen a few post about CC having issues with amd cards, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since this job is past due due to these issues.

    i7 2.2
    16GB Ram

You neglected to specify exactly which release of PPro CC you are running. There have been 5 of them.
If you're on CC7.2 or 7.2.1, then you may be hitting the same problem discussed in one of these threads:

The first thing to try is switching Renderer to Software Only.

  • Fast forward problems with Zen Touch (1.01.03 AND PlayForSu

    Device: Zen Touch
    Firmware: .0.03
Some files cause fast forward problems. Suppose I fast forward to the end of the song. Then I reach the - 00:00.00 marker. HOWEVER, the song goes on and on. It doesn't stop, even if it should (these files aren't corrupt, they work properly on my pc). For e.g. this file causes problems: http://www.hollywoodsaloon.com/podcast/THS-ep9.mp3 and this file http://meandawg.com/audio/MDTop5_0002.mp3.

  • Problem with fast forward of trackball in media player of 8330

I'm a fairly new BB owner of a Sprint 8330 Curve.  I've checked the newbies site on Crackberry and checked here also.  Can anyone help with this problem:
I've downloaded some MP3 audiobooks from my local public library.  They play fine, but the problem is that it always starts at the beginning every time.  The book is in multiple parts, each of which is 60 minutes long, each of which is treated as a single song.  I can see the reverse, pause, and fast forward buttons but I can't get the trackball to work with them.
When I scroll the trackball to the right to fast forward, it scrolls to the next part of the book, not within the same part (song).  When I scroll the trackball left, it goes back to the last song.  When I scroll it up or down, the whole playlist shows up on the screen and I can scroll through those.
I found one post that talked about how to fast forward video, but it showed a different screen that mine.
I just can't get the trackball to position itself on the progress bar or on the controls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

I've got the same problem with my BlackBerry 8330.  I have v4.5.0.169 (Platform 3.4.0.51). Once i start an audio file, I am unable to select the scroll bar above the play so that I can fast forward through the song, book, etc.

  • Avchd video file made with Premiere Elements 8 won't fast forward or reward

I just finished an AVCHD video project in Premiere 8 and I can't fast forward or rewind the file on my computer with Windows Media Player or in Windows Media Center. The file plays nicelly but it's annoying watch it from start to finish for 45 minutes.
I have a Vixia HF S20 - the video format of the original files was ACHD. After finishing editing the project I choose to save it on my PC (a Dell Inspiron 8100 with I5 - so lots of power awailable) as a MPEG file. I noticed that this format was the only one that gave me the option to save the video in H.264 1920x1080i 30 preset.
The rendering of the video took some 3 hours. It saved the video in AVCHD format and at playback, on my computer screen, it looks just as it should - HD quality - but the lack of controls it's really, really stupid!
Anyway, I need help to figure out what is happening here. Did I do something wrong? Are there other saving settings/presets to choose from that retain the HD quality I am not aware of?  Thanks a million in advance!

Well, if you are weighing things against WMP, it could be that PrE could have done something differently.
Now, I am not a fan of WMP, and am REALLY not a fan of RealMedia Player. I liken that latter one to a Trojan, waiting to happen. I last had a version installed about 12 years ago, and would never let another copy near any of my computers.
Besides the two that I mentioned, GOM Player gets high marks, as well.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
