Major trouble with WRT54G. Help please?

I was trying to open my NAT for better connection with my friends over Xbox Live, so I went to the Live Chat for help with this and I got it open. Maybe a month later it says my NAT is at "Moderate" settings again so I asked what could be the problem and the person I was in chat with suggested I upgrade the routers firmware and then try to open the NAT so I upgraded and then did everything that I was told to do to open it again and now I cant even get on the internet with it. Every page or URL I type in redirects me to my ISP's "hotspot" page. Can anyone help me???

In that case your modem has to be Updated/re-configured.

Major Issues with iPod Touch - Please help!

Hi, I am having major issues with my iPod, and nothing seems to be going right. It all started a few days after I got it for Christmas. I would wake up, and my iPod would be completely discharged even though it had a full battery and was turned off. I woke up one night and found that it came on all by myself. I sent it into iPod, and they sent it back saying nothing was wrong. Since I got it back today and within six hours, I have had four software crashes to the point where I have had to uninstall iTunes and restore factory settings four times. I am now on my fifth crash, but this time, the screen won't even come on. It keeps saying that it is in recovery mode. I simply went to turn it on! Does anyone have any suggestions? Personally, I think there is a short, and that I need a new a replacement. However, it doesn't seem like Apple is very supportive of the idea. I go through all of their steps over and over and over, and the same thing happens! What is going on? Please help.

sounds like, for the charging problem anyways, that you are just putting ipod into "Stand by" mode... press and hold the power key for about 10 seconds and an option to power off will actually come on.. if u just press it and let go, it just goes to stand by.. i have noticed stand by drains my battery
also, it doesn't sound like a short to me... the charging i am pretty sure is bc you are only putting it into standby however, the rest sounds like software.. did u try and restore using itunes or did you just reset the factory defaults?? Plug it into itunes and click restore under the ipod menu...

My new/used G5...trouble ack! help please

I bought a used powermac G5 single 1.8 3gRAM. I installed tiger and have been trying to run an audio app called Digital Performer 4.6, but there has been terrible cpu spikes. The DP forums suggest that the new 4.6 version has some troubles with tiger. So, I was trying to install panther on my hard drive so that I could boot up in panther and see if DP worked better in that OS.
The computer shut restarted. About 30 sec into the reboot, the apple in the screen switches so that a third of it is cut off and switched over to the left side of the remaining apple--meaning it freezes. Now I can't figure out how to get the disk drive open.
Here is the kicker: the computer was dropped by fedex in the process of shipping. The case of the computer is bent and the rivets along the bottom have popped. I ran a system test of the computer's internal parts and everything passed. I am waiting for fedex to send me the claim app so that their insurance can fund the $600 plus to get everything taken out and replaced in a new case.
I am worried that the present freeze is a result of the damage in shipment.
1. How do I get the disk out?
2. What would should I do to test the internal working condition of the computer in light of the dropped computer?

Well....of course I am going to take it in or get it fixed or excahanged or whatever. I called apple...and they kinda helped me. But not really. They said it could be this...or that...or that.
I just wanted to get alittle feedback from actual fellow mac users and see if they have had similiar experience and what it could be.
I'm just trying to learn as much as i can before I have to lug it all the way into apple. Information is power.

Major prob with WRT54G

So, I put the CD-ROM that came with my wireless router in the drive and everything is okay UNTIL I run my network cable through my router. My comp keeps telling me I have "limited or no connectivity" and the router's SetupWizard is unable to access the internet. Thing is, if I hook up my cable modem to my comp the way it was before, my internet connection works fine.
I have downloaded and installed the patch for XP SP2, ditto with up-to-date firmware... but to no avail.
Also, I tried turning off the firewall before setting it up; no dice.
Help, please.

try out a few options here...
Go to start -->> control panel -->> network connections -->> right click Local Area Connection -->> Properties -->> Configure -->> click "advanced" tab and under "properties" column select "link speed in duplex" and change the value to 10 mbps half mode...
if this does not help , Go to start -->> control panel -->> network connections -->> right click Local Area Connection -->> Properties -->>Select TCP / IP check box and click properties.. select "use the following ip address" and enter the settings as :
ip add : 192.168.1.10
sub mask : 255.255.255.0
def gateway: 192.168.1.1
if still no luck , reset the router for 1 min and do a power cycle.....

Major Trouble with Latest iTunes versio9n

I have two major problems with the latest version of iTunes, which I was forced to download to purchase a TV Show I wanted.
1) I've lost 95% of the TV shows previously downloaded on my iPod (they are still in my library, which "library" has also disappeared on my iTunes). I haven't had time to see if songs that I purchased with previous versions of iTunes are still there as they are many!
2) Download time for TV shows is 5 HOURS!!!!! This is unacceptable when the time was a fraction of that before.
I replied to a couple of related and unanswered posts, but thought it would be better to post my own.
I have tried to restore my iPod AND change the drive letter for it in Windows as suggested in previous, related posts and that didn't work.
Can one of our solution providers out there help me? I travel and there are some of the TV Shows that disappeared that I hadn't watched yet.

I have been using Explorer throughout, but you sparked an idea, there.
So I tried it using Chrome. I managed to get iTunes64setup.exe downloaded, but try as I might, it will not run.

I did that and it is currently whirring away, had over 16000 emails as everything got imported when I set emails up (only had this computer 5 days). So will see what happens when it stops doing whatever it is doing. Sorry if I appear stupid but first Mac I have owned so everything a bit new. Have managed to get most things working correctly just can't sort this BT email problem out. Will report back later!

PLEASE HELP i have trouble with WRT54G port forwarding with linksys

Hello guys, i play a game called populous, and since im on a router i cannot host the game, when i used to have a d-link all i would do is have to set up the port to my ip with the udp. but ever since i have swiched to linksys that doesnt work, the ip on my portforwaring is the same as the one on my computer the port is correct and the udp is set, i also have no fire walls on and it still doesnt make a differance, Someone in the game suggested that there is a local ip i need to get? is that true or is there another setting i need to set up in my router page?

Yes that happens if you write replies to your own posts. Many regulars here only answer their "own" topics (i.e. to which they have answered before) and new ones which don't have replies, yet. If you write a reply to your own topic chances are your are not read unless during some random browsing...
Regarding your problem it is impossible to say anything unless you give the exact settings you have on your router. Please post the full settings you have for port forwardings, port triggering and DMZ. If you have UPnP forwarding in your router (I don't think you have) post those settings, too.
Otherwise I suggest this checklist for troubleshooting port forwardings.

Connection problems with WRT54G Router PLEASE HELP!!!!

Im having a huge issue and im hoping that someone can help me. Awhile ago i changed what i believe to be my router settings using 192.168.1.1 and i believe i added WEP secuirty. I changed my password i know that much. Anyway my problem is this - When i try connecting a router to my computer, i cannot access the internet OR the 192.168.1.1 setup. I just get a yellow caution sign on my wireless settings (running Windows 7), but when i connect my cable modem (Comcast) to my computer, i can access the internet. I have reset both the router and my cable modem MANY times (hard resets) and STILL cannot get the setup page for the router. I have TWO WRT54G rourters and BOTH do the same thing when connected to my desktop , yet BOTH work fine on an old machine running XP, so it is something i did with this computer. Can someone please help me solve this issue? any hlep would be appreciated as i am stumped and do not know how to fix this and cannot use WI-FI or my Xbox 360 until i can fix this..Thanks.

Check the IP address of your computer and see if it's in range with the router's IP.

Having major problems with iPod Shuffle, please help!!

Okay, I have a 2nd iPod shuffle and it just will not connect to my computer. I've used to adaptor that came with it and it worked once but I only added a couple of songs and I want to add more now but I can't! The light blinks orange 3-4 times and nothing happens on my PC. I borrowed my friends charger and absoloutly nothing happens with his. But I can still charge it because I have a USB wall charger which I can connect my charger to and it charges perfectly with that. So, naturally I thought there was something wrong with my PC/USB sockets. So, I tried it on my friends computer - same results as with mine. I can't use the reset utility though because I'm running Windows 7 on 64 bit and there's no download out there for that. Please help somebody - I really want to add more songs to my iPod, and this is becoming really frustrating. :/

Hi, im having continous problems with i tunes im a new user and im finding very hard to work out how me and my girlfriend can use i tunes with different i pods. Im sure their is a way we can use the same program without having to keep deleting each others music and adding it all over again. Can someone please advise how we can both use i tunes from the same program/computer and have our own library of music without the others music be downloading onto the wrong i pods.

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
a) Sharing a single iTunes library and user account.
b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
Sharing a Library
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Mac
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod

Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

Trouble with the printer PLEASE HELP!!!!

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I work at an elementary school and I was recently trying to set up one of our iMac computers with a new printer. The printer is a HP LaserJet 1320. I installed all of the drivers from the disk into the computer and it told me that I had to set up the printer in the "Desktop Printer Utilities" file. When I went to do that I found that there was no such file in the system. I was wondering if there was a way of getting the printer to work. And if so I need detailed instructions so that I can set up the printer properly for the teacher. PLEASE HELP

Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
I believe they are referring to Desktop Printer Utility, which is a program, not a file. It is one of the standard OS 9 utility programs installed by default. Try doing a search on your hard drive for it - note that the spelling of its name is a bit different than the one you gave.
If it is indeed missing, you can use the utility TomeViewer to extract (expand) any files you want from an Installation Tome on an OS 9.x Install CD or download disk image, without running the installer.
How to use TomeViewer
The item Desktop Printer Utility can be found in the Installation Tome located here on an OS 9.0.x Install CD - (CD) >> Software Installers >> System Software >> Mac OS 9 >> Installation Tome.
Note that this requires the use of an original OS 9 disk named Software Install, or a retail OS 9.0 or 9.0.4 Install CD.

Trouble With Audio PlayBack Please Help!!!

Ok, so i logg into itunes as usual and go to listen to a couple songs. When i click a song to play on it doesnt Play. Im Starting to get a little worried. So i exited out of itunes and then tried to open it back up. Once i clicked the icon a message popped up and said: itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/vidoe playback may not operate properly.
So after that i knew it wasnt good. I then re-started my computer. Ended up that my whole entire windows xp theme has been changed. I ran a virus scan and it was clean...
So if anyone can help me please! I cant live withough music!!!

hey guys ,when ever i open terminal it always open with terminal bash 80X24 and after 10 secs it ends up with "process complete" written on the terminal window.
now please tell me what to do somedays before i was trying to install homebrew using terminal ..that day onwards i m facing this problem.please help me guys .

Sounds like maybe there is a broken shell initialization script
Terminal -> Shell -> New Command... ->
copy and paste this command into the new command dialog box and look at the results
/bin/ls -l .bash_profile .bash_login .profile .bashrc
You may get output such as:
-ls: .bash_login: No such file or directory
-ls: .profile: No such file or directory
-rw-r--r-- 1 raharris staff 31561 Sep 5 18:13 .bash_profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 raharris staff 58026 Nov 17 11:39 .bashrc
If all 4 files come up No Such File or Directory, it is not a bad shell initialization file
If you do have one of these files, such as my example .bash_profile, then you need to move it out of the way
Terminal -> Shell -> New Command... ->
copy and paste one of the following commands into the new command dialog box to move the selected shell initialization script out of the way
/bin/rm .bash_profile saved.bash_profile
/bin/rm .bash_login saved.bash_login
/bin/rm .profile saved.profile
/bin/rm .bashrc saved.bashrc
repeat for each script was found the above 'ls' command

Plz Help setting up my Mac g4 with WRT54g. PLEASE!!

Hey, first let me say that I am brand new to doing anything wireless. Just never had the need for it before and now I am completly lost and havnt a clue what to do or where to go. Here is my situation and what I want to accomplish.
First I am not trying to go wireless with my Mac. I purchased the router so I could use my internet connection with my XBox360 which is hooked up downstairs from my computer. So basically what Iwant to do is just hardwire my Mac into the router and keep the router right next to my computer. I purchased the Xbox360 Wireless network adaptor and should have all the equipment to get this thing working. The problem is Idont know how to set up the router as no software for the Mac was included and I dont have a wireless card in my Mac or anything like that. I just wanted to plug the internet connection into the router, connect my Mac to port 1 and have the Xbox be the only thing really wireless. Ihope I explkained that good enough.
I tried just hooking it up and putting the Ethernet cord from my computer in Port 1 but nothing is working. Ieven tried setting up the Xbox360 and it keeps stopping at the DNS section of the setup operation.
I am clueless where to go from here. I called on the phone and they told me that it doesnt support the Mac but everywhere I look it says that the Mac is supported and even the sales guy said I could use my Mac with this model. I am completly lost and dont know who can help me now. What should have been really simple to setup has now been a total nightmare and a waste of 175 bucks.
I would be forever endebted to anyone who can help or even point me in the right direction. Again all I want is to keep the router by my computer and keep the computer connected with a wire. Its the Xbox that I really purchased this for. Plz help.

Well, for the MAC you will have to manually configure the router. You forgot to mention the name of your ISP. If it’s a cable connection then try this :
Open IE and type http://192.168.1.1 . You will see the login screen.
Leave the username blank and type "admin" for the password. You will find the set up screen. Go to " Mac Address Clone" subtab. Enable it and click on "clone". Save the settings and power cycle If it’s a DSL connection , under the " Basic Setup " page, change the internet connection type as PPPoE and enter the username and password provided by the ISP.
Now, once you have an internet connection on the computer, you can try to use your x-box 360.
