Majority of my pics just vanished into thin air

I was working on my computer and clicked onto iPhoto and saw that it was "importing" every pic (over 5000) that I've taken. I stopped the "import" and now thousands of my pics are missing.
They aren't in the trash. They aren't on my harddrive. I didn't do anything to make this happen. I have no idea what's going on!
iPhoto still shows the thumbnails but when I go to view the pics they don't load.
I've tried using spotlight to find them, nothing. I've looked in the pictures-iPhoto library in the finder, nothing.
Please, if anyone has any idea what's happened, help!

The photos iPhoto was importing was my entire library of previously imported pics. I assume they were located in my user-Pictures-iPhoto library.
I just did another search for one of the missing photos and it shows that it's in that directory but that it's Zero KB on disk.
I thought I had them backed up on an external hard drive but they seem to be missing too. All the folders are there but they are all empty.
It does not start importing again when I relaunch iPhoto.
How does one find an invisible folder?

Didn't you backup the Bookmarks.plist ??
When not than I'm afraid that they are all gone as you said, but when you use Fire Fox to as second web browser you can export the Bookmarks back to Safari.
Good luck ... post back how things went ...

Keynote file vanished into thin air

I have recently encountered this extremely frustrating situation where my keynote file that contained over 100 slides just disappeared into thin air. It is not located in the folder where it's supposed to be and does not appear under recently open folder. The only place that it shows is under apple > recent items but nothing happen when the file is clicked. I have found similar discussion thread regarding this issue and apparently less people are facing this problem with the new updates (I suppose). This is actually the first time I have this issue with Keynote (6.2.2), it has been an amazing software.

I forced restart last night but I made sure the file was saved to the latest version and this morning I updated OSX to Maverick 10.9.5, so I'm not sure at which point the problem occurred nor which caused this to happen.
Have anyone found a way to recover the file that seems like it never exists? I have tried iSkysoft Data Recovery but the file is not in the folder I placed, plus disk utility did not work for me as well. For the time being, I will just have to start over and make sure to backup the file somewhere else but any kind of suggestions would be appreciated.

My SPDIF/Optical option has vanished into thin air! W

I have a Audigy sound Blaster platinum series card and I dump off music through an optical wire. The spdif/optical option to click on has vanished! It's the only thing I use! I've looked all over the program and can't find it. It's like it has been deleted from the file! I recently installed a new power source. Could that be the problem? I'm DESPERATE here! I need help!

Messages Stuck In Outbox Vanished Into Thin Air

I sent a bunch of important messages to my e-mail when browsing Safari, but for some reason they weren't going through and were stuck in my outbox.Now all of a sudden all those messages are nowhere to be found in my mailbox, and I know I didn't delete them.Would an update wipe them all out?Is there any way to recover them?I don't understand why all of a sudden they are gone.I have looked everywhere for them.

I had an excellent Apple support agent named Luis who helped out. Re-installed the account partially. Discovered that there is in fact a bug in Yosemite. The mail client in mac will not save the outgoing server address and confusion amongst different mail account happens, added to outbox messages stuck. Hopefully Apple will correct bug in later OS X version. Case number 753401346

They All Vanished into thin air

My bookmarks are gone. My ibook G4 was in sleep mode. When I opened Safari, it took longer than normal to start up and when it did, all of my bookmarks were gone. I'm using safari version 1.3.2.
Any ideas as to what happened and how I can retrieve my bookmarks?

IOS 7.0.4 says I lost over 2 GB into thin air

I upgraded to the new iOS, but when it synced back up I went from having 300 MB of space left to having 2 GB too much. I can't load all my music or podcasts now. I didn't change anything or add anthing to my iPhone. What's the problem?

I am talking about the device. My iPhone says I have 8.3 GB available right now becuase it wouldn't sync my music. I have to deselect my music in order to download the new iOS out of space concerns. I did, downloaded the update, reselected sync my music, resynced, and now I am 2 GB over capacity. How? Before 7.0.4 I used to keep around 200-300 MB free. When I upgraded to the new iOS I didn't change any of the settings. But when it synced it said I am over capacity by 2 GB. How did I go from having 200 MB free to being over capaciy by 2 GB?
Somehow I have over 3 GB of "other" on my phone that I didn't have before. How can I figure out what this is?

Hello, I have a Aound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card and so far, it has been a fantastic purchase. But... All of a sudden, in the EAX Advanced HD console, all of the EAX effects on the effects tab have dissappeared rather perculiarly. On top of this, on the THX setup console and speaker configuration tabs, the list of speaker configurations (2., 5., 6., 7., Headphones etc.) has also gone missing!! Why is this? And is there anything I can do to fix the problem? I tried reinstalling the software and it worked fine for a bit and then stopped working again. The problem seems to arise after I close the DVD Audio player which crashes everytime and restarts my computer ARGH!
Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having a similar problem. I have an Audigy 2. In both my Audio?HQ? and my Audio Consol my mute headphones tab dissappears after a few restarts. Only a fresh install will bring them back. If I try to update drivers I'm told everything is up to date.

Simple, surefire fix: restore from your back up.
Anything else will require a lot more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

On old macbook photos would just go into iPhoto my hitting iPhoto button. On the Mac Pro when I hit iPhoto button they "swish" into some document file on dock and I can't get them into my photos and events. Can anyone please help. Gabrielle

I am having major trouble trying to get photos into IPhoto. On my old macbook, I just had to hit the IPhoto button - I have hundreds of photos and events but now I have this MacPro when I hit the Iphoto button the photos just "disappear" into a document file on the dock and the photos are all contained in some kind of arcs....I'm not computer literate and spent 2 years in one on one just learning IPhoto Could some one out there please help me.?

What version of iPhoto are you using? Where are the photos coming from that go into the document on the Dock? What iPhoto button are you referring to?

Can't insert pic or table into CEWP on site page.

I have a wiki where I have no problem inserting tables, pics, hyperlinks, and even editing the HTML to do all kinds of fun stuff.
Today I try to insert an image into a CEWP on a site page and every time I paste in the URL and click OK nothing shows up. Same thing happens with table.
The best I have been able to with the CEWP on a regular site page is with HTML...I get a little black box with white x where the pic should be, but I do get the mouse over and I can get it to hyperlink when I click on it.
What is going on here? I can insert pics and tables into a list or announcements section if the column is using a rich text editor, but not on a regular site page. I can only use the image web part which sucks because I cant make it hyperlink.
Is it my version of Internet Explorer? Did I make some change that broke SharePoint 2007? Did someone else make a change to the site that screwed this up? WAS I NEVER ABLE to do this and am just now realizing that CEWP have this limitation?

Why put the insert table or insert image into the CEWP editor if they can't be used? Why not at least do the courtesy of grey them out so I do not spend two days thinking I am crazy or need to rebuild my entire SP sites etc...?

If for some reason u have the icon in your task bar (the one with 2 arrows pointing in a circle) just go into mobile me pref...click sync...and uncheck box show status in menu bar. My question is, I do not have this option. How do I get the sync to stop

If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. It sounds like it could be a font issue. Are you sure you are using a font in Pages which is present on the iPad?
