Make a bus card from scratch in MS word: mac

This might not be the right place to post this, but here goes....
I installed MS office 2008 on my mac, and wanted to create a business card in word... but its proving to be more difficult than I thought. The only way I knew how to start was with a template under the publishing elements. There are only three designs, none of which I want, so I started with the template and tried to change the background, etc., but that's easier said than done.
I ended up just pasting a new background over the old in the first business card slot, but the others did not follow. When I've done this with other software, there's a basic blank template for bus cards that you can customize easily, with formatting options like "add background," which when utilized are replicated on every business card in the document. Why is this version of word making this task so tricky? I hope its just me, and there is an easy way to do this....

Ms decoder from scratch

Anyone know how to make an MS decoder from scratch in Logic. It would be used to process MS material recorded as a stereo file. The direction mixer lacks flexibility. The sub group system seems to prevent me achieving two separate mono signals to treat. It's easy in PT . Stereo track to bus 1-2, aux 1 input bus 2 panned hard left, aux 2 input 1 panned centre, aux 3 input bus 2 panned hard right with phase reversed using a trim pug-in. All aux's to output 1-2. It would be easier to explain with a little screen grab, but I also don't know how to put a graphic in this post, (along with a shed load of other stuff that don't know despite being 57 -ha!)

Make a duplicate of your stereo track, insert in each channel waves S1 MS Matrix and pan each one hard left and right, set output of 1 to bus 1 and the other to bus 2. Bus 1 and 2 should be stereo tracks panned center. Insert waves S1 Imager with input set to set to M input S an polarity to + as the last plugin in both busses. Any plugin you insert between SI Matrix And S1 Imager in bus one will be affecting the left output , that is the mono program . The bus 2 program will be the stereo program and you can process each separately with this setup.

Making a Menu from Scratch

As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no way to create a menu from scratch.
Allowing you to make your own back ground, music and links to videos. You think that we this "advanced" software, they would also have the option to make your own menu from scratch. Sometimes those are the most meaningful DVDs.
Also, The "Old Themes" aren't available, so when I click on them, I agree to download the extra features, expecting for them to become available. But after the installation is done, there is no difference. The reason I wanted some of the Older themes is because some of them seemed to have simpler features where it is almost as though you made it from scratch with a simple picture as the background.

Good info already posted above. Allow me to add. Question: Are you looking to make a static menu or one with full motion like that found on the Revolution theme?
If it's the latter, then iDvd is fairly useless when straying from stock themes. DVDSP combined with apps like Motion will allow you to approach and perhaps even surpass the motion menus as seen in iDvd. But the learning curve for DVDSP and Motion is rather large (not to mention expensive). So unless you have plenty of cash and time to invest then I'd highly recommend simply modifying an existing theme. Suggest you also take a look at a few of Karsten's prior posts on this subject because he has this down to a rather fine art in terms of iDvd modifications to existing themes.

Yes, it's frustrating.
I don't have my iPod with me but, as I recall, the change is done in Settings/Store. That change will apply to NEW purchases. However, be aware that all purchases are permanently associated with the Apple ID that was originally used. Generally, it's only a problem when you need to update an app. IF you do your updating from iTunes and your logged in to the "wrong" ID, you'll need to log out and back in again. It's easier from the iPod as you do not need to log out/in but you do need to know the password.
Unfortunately, you can not merge IDs nor can you transfer purchases from one ID to another. Go here to find out exactly what you have. I have the same problem so I deliberately made both passwords identical to make things slightly easier for me.

You've checked the purchase history on your account (Store > View My Account on your computer's iTunes) and nobody else has access to your account ? If you don't recognise the charges then contact iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

Can't find sound card after clean reinstall from scratch to vista 32 bit from 64

Greetings Everyone,
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me with this frustrating problem.
I did a clean reinstall from scratch to move to vista 32 bit from vista 64. None of my goodies (mp3 player, phone.. all sadly antiquated) played on the 64 version. That's why I nuked it.
The reinstall worked like a charm, except now I can't get anything from the external jacks, which worked fine before the reinstall. I've used every aspect of the device manager, and checked for downloads on each. When I go to sound devices, it lists the soundcard as "high definition audio device," and says that the software has been updated.
The internal speakers are the delightful Altec Lansings.. and they work fine. In fact, when I plug something into the headphone jacks, they continue working.
Therefore, I'm trying to find the name of the sound card installed on my build, and then find the driver for it.
Here's all the specs from the back if you need them:

I'm a music lover, and I love this computer, and I'll be sooooo happy if I can get this fixed. I'm facing music withdrawals, and getting weaker by the day.
Could anyone please offer me advice?

Can Motion 5 make clips from scratch?

Hi! I currently use iMovie and am saving up to purchase FCP. However, I do have enough to purchase Motion 5. I was wondering if Motion 5 can create clips from scratch that I could use in iMovie?
Like can it create cool graphics such as opening titles or graphics with words, or is it strictly a software used to edit video once it's uploaded from FCP?
Does this make sense? Sorry for any ignorance on my part, btw...I'm pretty new to technology and I just switched to Apple from my PC so I'm still trying to get used to all the technology and terminology lol...

Absolutely!
For a program that costs as little as it does, it has an amazing set of tools in it. Trivially easy to learn to do some things like titles, but with the power to create absolutely amazing motion graphics with full 3D positioning and lighting.
You'll be able to boot it up and make titles within minutes.
It will take you considerably longer to master every tool within Motion 5 though. Not that they're exceedingly difficult, it's just that Motion 5 has a LOT of them.

I have the same thing happening on both my credit cards! I first noticed random charges on my bank statement, but, the funny thing is that on the same statement I was credited back for the charges so everything cancelled out. I still wanted to change my credit card to be safe and my card wouldn't work with iTunes anyway (I emailed Apple and they said my account was compromised). I also changed my Apple ID password.
So I got my new credit card and now looking back at my statement for the month, the day that I added the new card onto iTunes was the same day I got more preauthorized charges. The amounts were exactly the same as on my previous credit card. I don't know what to do anymore. Is this a problem on Apple's end?

Why can't I remove my debit card from my account? Why do I have to make another account and do the run around for updates? Come on apple, I have spent a lot of personal time giving your products props, I don't want to get a sour taste now.

Why is there such an issue about removing my debit card from my account? This is an issue that needs to be resolved without me having to create a new account..

If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

Does re-installing OSX from scratch make XP unbootable?

I'm considering upgrading to Leopard, and in doing so would like to wipe my Tiger installation and start from scratch. Will doing so wipe some boot sector stuff so that my Bootcamp XP partition will be unbootable? I hardly use OSX and use Windows 99% of the time, so preserving my existing XP installation is far more important than upgrading OSX.
Any advice appreciated.

the 'boot'-informations are saved in the 200MB-EFI-partitions on the harddisk, which usually are invisible.
If you only erase the Tiger partition and in no way alter the partitions or repartition your HD, the the Windows partition will stay intact and bootable.
Personally I would suggest making a backup of your Windows partition before the Leopard installation, just in case.

Create a Form from Scratch: Possible or Not

So, I have Acrobat X.
I want to create a form from scratch. I have Word doc, but it wasn't created to look like a form, and I didn't like the way it imported.
So, can I create a form from scratch. Or Not?
If you try to start from scratch, it suggests a template on formscentral - and after signing up for free and spending an hour making the form, I find that I can not save or save as PDF the form that I created without forking over my credit card information - for a free trial that bills in a few weeks. (As much as I like the form data collection tools available, I cannot have my data collected by Adobe.)
I can open an empty MS Word doc to start from - as my import choice - but can you make it any harder to mave the text around or enter new text? I never did figure out how to edit text. Is the answer going to be to edit my text in Word or in the plain PDF tool?
I just found the form creation to be completely counter intuitive.

Acrobat is not a Word processor, really. "Adding a carriage return" makes sense in a word processor, where the layout is still fluid. In a PDF the layout is finished, everything is a graphic. So, absolutely, it's designed to work with pre-made forms. To me, that's a strenghth - you can use the tools you already know to make the form background, then you add the fields in Acrobat. With work, you can preserve the fields over remaking the PDF, then just adjust the field positions.
