Make a field , mandatory to optional

I wanted to make the last name field which is a mandatory field to an optional one. Could somebody help me on this.

Modify FormMetaData.xml and make the field optional.I am not sure if modifying only formMetadata.xml will give you error.If yes then modify the tjspGenerateCreateUserForm.jsp.There are already many post for modifying the jsps.

The requirement is, the user should not be able to append a new Row, unless and untill he enteres the data in the column SOLD-TO. Now how do i acheive making this field madatory. Normally in Edit form view, we can go in customizing and flag Mandatory, for table view we don't have this option.

I want to make Requistioner field Mandatory in the Purchase requistion.

Whenever i create purchase requistion i want to make Requistioner field mandatory. I have checked the filed selection NBB and changed to mandatory and ME51 also made mandatory after that also whenever i create with ME51 PR is going to next screen without asking for requistioner.
Please let me know where actullay i have to make mandatory so that whenever i create it should ask the requistioner.

How to make extended field mandatory in Master Agreement

Hello All,
I am new to SAP CLM, and I have requirement where one extended field in master agreement needs to be made as mandatory field.
I tried in extension definition but check box to make it required is disabled and I am unable to find other way to do it.
Can some one help me and Please let me know how make extended fields mandatory in CLM.

This could be achieved using Page Customization.Go to Setup-> User Interface-> Page Customization, open master agreement object (create new with UI ID:contracts.contract.ui.buyside.default if doesn't exist ) and add a new customization for extended field with Property set to Required.

Radio Button to make other field Mandatory

I have two Radio Buttons that I want when clicked on (either one) to make a Number Field mandatory. I have viewed many websites on setting a mandatory field but the script I am using will not work. I have tried a couple ways of writing it but I seem to be missing something.
I have used this script in the Show of: click & change
Here is the script that I'm using right now.
if (this.rawValue==1)
AssemblyNu-1.mandatory ="error";
else
AssemblyNu-1.mandatory ="disabled";
And this one:
if (this.rawValue==2)
AssemblyNu-1.mandatory ="error";
else
AssemblyNu-1.mandatory ="disabled";

So, I put a quick form together to test your code.
On the change event of the radio button list (not the radio button itself), I added:
if (this.rawValue == 1) tfTest.mandatory = "error";
else tfTest.mandatory = "disabled";
In my case, the radio button with the value of 1 is the one I want to make the field mandatory. If you want either button to make it mandatory, then use:
if (this.rawValue == 1 || this.rawValue == 2) tfTest.mandatory = "error";

We normally create a billing document with reference any other document say Order or delivery.
so, all the necessary information in the invoice will be taken from preceeding doucments. Thats way in the order level we check for incompletion log. If any important data is missing in the order level then the succeding documents will not be created.
Thats way in the billing documents all the necessary information will come automatically either from preceeding documents or from master data.
Still you want to make any field mandatory, you can do these by modifieing Billing documents user exists,you can make which ever the fields are mandatory and to be checked before saving. so when you are going to save the invoice, it will check if these fields are maintained or not.

Hi All,
Please let me know how can I make some fields mandatory through coding in PBO for only some fields of a screen.
Say if I have 4 fields in my screen(module pool not selection screen) i want to make mandatory 2 fields based on some conditions how to do this? I tried using screen-group but this will make mandatory all the fields of that screen mandatory.
I want only specific fields based on condition in run time.

         Try this ..
Assign the same group to those fields , say GRP
       in PAI
         IF <CONDITION>
            Loop at screen.
               if screen-group1 = 'GRP'.
                  screen-required = '1'.
                  modify screen.
               endif.
             endloop.
          ENDIF.

Hi,
From configuration(SPRO) u can easily make some fields mandatory in XK01. Otherwise create a transaction varition for XK01 using TC SHD0.

Thanks for the reply, that was very helpful. But now when i right click on the selected variable, the screen where i cud edit shows up and i see that variable entry is "Optional" & i need to change that to Mandatory but the problem is the screen is blanked out, that is i cannot make any changes, i can only see but not edit. But there are some other variables were i can change them from optional to mandatory but not this one...can you pls throw some light on this?

But still without entering anything in reference field in MIRO,the document is getting save.

SAP does not support implementation of new fields exits from ECC 6.0. It will still support the existing field exits in the system
Also check if you can create the field exits from program RSMODPRF..

hello
i have searched through the forums but not able to get the right answer.
i need to make one field MARC-MMSTA mandatory. It lies in field selection group 51.
There are other fields in this field selection group.
Hence what happens is when we make the group mandatory all the fields become manadatory.
Any thoughts please ?

In t-code OMSR create the new selection group(Between 221 to 240) ie., select the field MARC-MMSTA assgin new selection group .Then goto OMS9 enter selection group make option as per your requirement.

Hi Yeasin,
There are three ways.
1) By using incompletion procedure by using OVA2 T.Code which is already discussed by Raja.After this assign this incompletion procudere to your document type in VOV8 and also check the box incompletion messages.
2)By using SHD0 T.Code.
Goto SHD0 T.Code.
Enter the transaction code as "VA01".
Select the transaction variant as "BUS2032".
Two programs will appear .Select the last one(BUS2032_4480).Click on details.
Search for the field "VBKD-KDGRP" using "CTRL+F".
Against that field tick the mark Required.
Save.
3) By using SE51 T.Code.
Enter the program name as "SAPMV45A" and screen number as "4301".
Select Layout editor.
Click on Change.
The screen layout will be opened.
Select the field "Customer group" and double clik on it.
Attributes screen will be opened.
Goto Program tab and for the Input field,tick this and for input select the option required from the dropdown.
Save.
Now If you then you can find it as mandatory.Among these three you can use any one.
