How can I make a PDF with C and M separations only?

    I have a simple illustrator file I'm trying to print to PDF with separations. The file is black with a spot color. When I select the Acrobat 7.0 for the printer it keeps looking for an actual printer. What am I missing here?

    Works for me in CS4. Did you set mode to Seperations (Host based)

    I am suffering from blurry text when making a PDF in Mac OS 10.6 (using "Save as PDF" in the Mac printing dialogue).
    The software company has confirmed the problem. They suggested using CutePDF to make a PDF because it does a better job. CutePDF is Windows only.

    Also, could it be a problem with the software you are using (you didn't mention what it is?)
    It is ViaCAD 2D. My text is razor-sharp when viewed from within ViaCAD. However, when I make a PDF of my drawing using, File > Print > Print PDF my text comes out blurry.

    "This is an old and contentious issue that appears to effect some Mac users and not others.
    The only work around I have found is to print to EPS (Postscript) in the print dialog, and then convert the EPS to PDF in Preview. Sadly the EPS output from the print dialog is also broken in that it will not support anything larger than 8.5 X 11, so that will not work for you.
    The other work around might be to try and export the whole drawing to Illustrator using the File / Export dialog, but again that is also sometimes buggy for some people. The only good news is that the output that appears blurry on your Mac will probably look fine on a PC, or even another Mac as this does appear to be a very system dependent bug (which is why it never gets fixed)."

  • Can't make Photoshop PDF with editable / vector text.

    I'm trying to File > Save As an Adobe Photoshop CS6 PDF and then be able to open it and edit the text in Adobe Acrobat X.
    Whenever I attempt to edit the text it is a raster image and it doesnt matter what I do in the photoshop pdf settings.
    I want to be able to do this so that the text is able to be searched by google / search engines when I make the PDF available online.

    That what I did by using CS6 and it worked for me. Hope it helps you too
    Step1) Moved All Graphics (Images/Backgrounds) in one folder (Folder-Layers)
    Step2) Moved All texts (title, Headings, main text etc.) in another folder (Folder-Text)
    Step3) Merge the first folder (Folder-Layers) and made a single layer by right click & Merge Group
                               OR Select folder > Layer > Rasterize > Layer
                               Now I have only one Background Layer (Graphics) and a text folder
    Step4) Go to - File > Save As > Choose Photoshop PDF –
    Check* Use Proof Setup: Working CMYK then SAVE (If you want print)      You will get a message “The settings you choose in the save Adobe PDF dialog can override your    Current settings in the Save As dialog box. “- OK
    Step 5) Save Adobe PDF Dialogue Box
                  Choose settings- 
    Adobe PDF Preset: Adobe PDF Preset 1
    Standard:        PDF/X-4:2010
    Compatibility:    Acrobat 7(PDF 1. 6)
    General
    Check- Optimize for fast Web Preview
    Check- View PDF after Saving
    Compression
    Just change Compression box None (No Zip, No JPEG., No JPEG2000)
    Don’t touch any settings. and then SAVE PDF
    Then open in Acrobat Reader and do the text changes.

    I have got this question:
    Imaging this case: I have 3 indesigndocuments, that should be in one pdf-document. So i make a booklet of the 3 indesigndocuments and then i can make a pdf of them. But I want the pages in the pdf shown spreadwise. (so option spread is checked).  BUT: the pages in the indesigndocuments are not like that. F.i. id-doc1 has page 1 and 2, id-doc2 has 3 tot 6 and id-doc3 has the rest of the pages. (this is just an example to explain…) So page 2 and 3 should be on  a spread etc…
    But instead of this I get a pdf like:
    1
    2
    3
    4 - 5
    6
    7
    8 - 9
    10 - 11
    etc
    Can that be solved, still using the same indesign-documents?

    Can Acrobat make a pdf from Power Point which includes the hyperlinks ?

  • Make Mulitiple pdfs with one click

    To anyone who can help me.  To give you some background here are the knowns, I am running Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, I work in an engineering enviroment, I need to print 3 different versions of the same PDF.   So here is the rub, In the organization i work for different personal have different security classifications.  I need to create three different types of PDF's with the following securities.
    Normal PDF with all the securities to view, print and save.
    A "READ ONLY" PDF that you can only view from a monitor and not be able to print or save the pdf.
    A "PRINT ONLY" PDF that can not be saved but can be printed with a watermark warning and a timestamp in the background.
    I have thousands of file to create so if their is anyway to run an API or some form of automated creator that would be great.  Please help.

    Acrobat is not that secure, but within that limitation you can do #3. Doing at the same time might be a challenge. It may be that you could write a batch sequence that would add the desired security and save files to a new name or different folder. You could also add a separate PDF printer instance that would add the security in for the use with that instance. You would still have to print 2 times and then name the files accordingly. You might be able to create some general JavaScript to do the desired operation, but I am just guessing there. Anyway, there are some thoughts, possibly worthless.

    I am not able to make read only file with data from the fillable pdf forms.
    Requirement is my client need some form where they can enter some data and make a read only file from those forms and send them to their clients.
    So I made fillable form in acrobat and send them, they will use reader to fill up the form but I dont know how to save those file with data so it will become just a document.
    is there any way ?

    I am soory I am slow...
    I made form file in acrobat... but after that my client is going to use reader and enter data to this forms and saves it. and then my client is going to send them to their customers.
    So I shall use reader code and make all fields read only right ?
    In this case I have to make a button and run this code on submit ?

  • Exporting PDF with cropmarks

    I've got some artwork and  need to make a PDF with cropmarks from Illustrator 10.
    I add cropmarks using Object/Cropmarks/Make and that looks fine.
    But I can't get them into a PDF.
    If I "Save as PDF" or "Save a copy", the result contains everything EXCEPT the cropmarks.
    (Oddly enough PDF is not offered as an "Export" format.)
    I can create a PS file with Print command, and distill it, but that's rather tedious.
    Failing a way to export cropmarks, is there a simple way to convert them into normal lines, or do I have to redraw them by hand?

    Choose PDF from the file save options
    PDF save dialogue opens
    Choose the quality of the PDF files from the drop down at the top of the dialogue panel
    In the left panel of the dialogue panel / window there are options... look for the 'Marks and Bleeds' (or similar)
    In the options there, should be under 'All Printer's Marks', choose / select 'Trim Marks'
    That'll include the crop marks... Maybe the interface has changed a bit since version 10, but if you explore the options under the PDF saving panel, am sure you'll find them. Alternatively, try the Help...
    Edit: Further, i see from your attachment, that you have a bleed. You can set that under the "Use Document Bleed Settings'... make it about 3-5mm on each side... otherwise you'll get the crop marks without the bleed...
    BTW... how are you creating the crop marks? Hopefully the very base of the page (bottom-most layer) has a base colour to which you have added the crop marks from the menu?
    If none of the above works, wait for Jacob to come around... he still uses version 10
    Edit 2: If you see it under "Separations", check it there and see...

    I want to deliver DINA4-Sheets (thats bacic European standard size of a sheet of paper for let's say writing an official letter) to print out in a copy-shop. Now the copy-shop-owner says, for him it will be much easier if I hand in my 10-20 pages in one pdf-file with 10-20 pages and not 10-20 single-paged pdf-files, cause then he only needs to do the colour-routines and adjustings once and not many times. Now there is the problem, in Elements 8 there is the option to save a psd as a pdf-file, but I don't know how to add the other files and make a pdf with more pages than just one. May be I need to do that with Scribus, a freeware prog.

    Your answer just proved extremely helpful. It worked that way. I first created a pse-file in the right document size. Then with copy and paste I imported the first page and flattened it to one layer. Then I chose to create the second pse-page, that shows automatically in the menue then with the pse-file open. Into the second page again with copy and paste I imported the second single sheet and flattened the second page too to one layer and so on. That way it works. Finally I first save in the pse-file and then save the whole thing as pdf.

  • Making a PDF with an image that has both spot colour channel and alpha channel

    Hi I have a logo that was supplied to us as a PSD it has a transparent background, it also has a pantone colour channel. I have made a alpha channel from the transparent background as well.
    The graphic looks fine in InDesign (alpha channel selected in the import options), ie the background is transparent.
    But when we try to make a Hi Res PDF the result is that the graphic is on a solid white background.
    If I go back to the PSD and merge the spot channel with so that it is just CMYK and try again the PDF is fine, but we obviously loose the spot colour.
    How do you make a PDF with a transparent PSD that has a spot colour?

    You know that annoying response from support staff? "We cannot replicate your issue". Well....
    I created a PSD in CS5, with a bunch of process stuff, then loaded a spot color channel and painted in some pawprints using Pantone 172C:
    Saved this as a PSD file, default settings (maximize compatibility on, but it doesn't make any difference in this situation).
    Created a new InDesign document in CS5, added a gradient and some text, then placed the PSD.  ID understands the PSD has an inbuilt background so there's no need to bother with a dedicated alpha mask:
    Exported from ID using the High Quality Print option (PDF/1.4, which keeps the live transparency):
    Re-exported to PDF/X-1a (based on PDF/1.3 which flattens transparency) - looks exactly the same. In all cases the spot channel is intact and the see-through regions of the PSD are maintained.

    I have a requirement to export the current document as PDF file. I am using the export provider with the service registry to export the document as pdf file. The code works successfully. Now I have a requirement where I need to save the pdf with color separations and page marks. First I need some information on what does page marks and color separations actually mean for a pdf file. And second I need to know how this could be achieved. Do I have to set some preferences? I have tried setting preference for color , bleed and it works. But I am not sure whether this satisfies the requirement. I would be thankful if someone would suggest me on the same.

    Hi,
    In my experienced it cant, you can export it to pdf but you dont have the ability to make it fillable, unless doing it manually, from the exported pdf, install an Adobe Professional software to have capability to save data's.

    I've never seen a PDF exported from ID that didn't open with a transparent background in Photoshop unless there actually was some sort of fill. Are you sure you have used a paper-filled frame?

    Adobe Reader on the iPhone is a PDF reading app. It's not a creation app.
    You need to get an app like Pages which is intended for page layout. It can place pictures from the phone and export PDF.

    What devices are they using?
    What program or apps with versions are they using?
    I this age of other then PDF eBooks formats and reader program and apss for computers and mobile devices for these formats I would look at creating the books in one or more of the eBook formats.
    Google Chrome and FireFox both have their own version of a PDF reader plug-in and they are well known to be less capable than Adobe Reader. It is possible to configure these products to use Adobe Reader.
