Make an album show in two different artists

I have several albums where the artist of the album is A & Artist B, and then I can have albums from Artist A and others from Artists B and B and C etc, my problem is when I click on the Artist A, it doesnt show my Artists A & Artist B albums because itunes doesnt recognize the ';' in the Album Artist tag. Is there a way to have this kind of feature? How? Or am I doing it the wrong way? Tks

"Jazz;Blues;Country" and it will recognize the 3 of them.
Of course, that is the optimal solution. Sooooo.......

  • How to make one album show up for multiple artists?

I'd like some albums to show up under multiple artists in iTunes in Windows.  Say for example "The Basement Tapes" by Bob Dylan and The Band.  It would be nice to see this album under both these artists.  Or to have "Two Men With the Blues" show up under both Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis.  Can I do that with iTues?  If so I haven't figured out how.  It would be nice if using a delimiter such as as comma, slash of semi-colon would signify to iTunes that it should lists those songs under all artists but it doesn't.  At least commas didn't work.  Any help would be appreciated.

iTunes doesn't have the ability to do what you want, i.e. to define multiple separated values in a field and then have the item show up when looking at a selection based on each of those values. "Bob Dylan", "The Band" and "Bob Dylan & The Band" are three distinct values that can't be linked together. Sort values can change where in a list things are displayed but shouldn't be used to attempt to merge different values as results are undefined and unpredictable.

When downloading a CD album, if it contains different artists, the album is split up into separate albums/icons. How do I get all songs into one album (just like the original CD)?

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. For iOS devices you may need to go to Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist > On.

  • Copying an album twice, in two different playlists

Is it possible to copy an album twice, using two different Genres, in order to put it into two different Smart Playlists, so that in one playlist Shuffle mode will play it all the way through in sequence because I have put it in a grouping and in the other, because I have not put it in a grouping, will play the tracks randomly? I copied an album first with its tracks grouped and then again without. It appears in both playlists, but in the second, it never gets chosen in Shuffle mode. It plays only if I play the whole playlist in sequence.

While you can create multiple entries for an album, that is a terribly inefficient use of disk space just to allow the same album appear in different genre-based playlists. You could accomplish this by using the "Comments" section of the tag -- enter variations on a genre in comments so that you can put the same song in different playlist (sub)genres.
As to why one group of songs refuses to play in shuffle mode, it sounds like those songs are tagged as "Skip when shuffling". Check the tags to see if that's what it is.

  • Is it possible to make an album, with seperate, and different artwork for each track? Thanks.

Got a few tracks and I was wondering if its possible to make like an album, but each track different art?

You can give each track its own artwork. iTunes will normally display the artwork of track 1 in album listings. The individual track art will show in the small window at the top of the screen when playing, or the artwork panel of the mini player, or the now playing window on a device. Try it and see.

  • How do i make compilation albums show up as one in iPad?

    Hi,
I have some problems when importing compilation albums to iPod in iPad. Instead of showing up as one artist, e.g. Various Artists, it's split up into one seperate artist for every song resulting in that the album is spread out. This is really annoying as I have checked "part of compilation" in iTunes and set the album artist to "Various Artists". I'm considering changing the tags, so that the song tag contains both artist and song title, and the artist tag simply "Various Artists". However, that is probably a last resort. I would really like it to work some other way.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
    Thank you!

  • How do i make the same song have two different genre

how do i make the same song have 2 different genre for 2 different playlist?

In my example, we will create a Smart Playlist that includes all songs in the genre Acid Jazz and one extra song that has the genre of Afro-beat. That extra song will be "Music For Gong Gong". To create your Smart Playlist, substitute the genre types and the song title (anything with <  > around it) for the ones you want.
In your iTunes Library, either click on the + symbol in the lower left corner of iTunes playlists, or click CTRL+ALT+N to create a New Smart Playlist. The following will appear (my orange numbering):
    1. Using the drop-down menus, change "Artist" to Genre, "contains" to is and in the text box (marked 1) type in the text <Acid Jazz> (remember to chose the genre you want, and with the exact spelling used for that genre in your library - don't type in the <  > obviously!)
    2. Click on the + symbol at the end of that line (marked 2), which creates an additional line
    3. In this new line, change "Artist" to Grouping, change "contains" to is and in the text box type in <Acid Jazz> (Notice that I have used the same name as the genre itself. You don''t have to, but it makes it easier to add those extra songs. You'll understand why in step 7.) You now have a box like this:
    4. Change the Match rule at the top (notice it has already changed in the two screenshots above) to any. This is a crucial step, do not forget it.
    5. Notice that I have also selected Match only ticked items. This is optional, but selecting it will exclude songs that have been unticked. If you use Sync only ticked songs and videos, this can be useful way of keeping the Playlist the same as the one on your device.
    6. Click the OK button. You now have the opportunity to name your Playlist. I have chosen <Genre is Acid Jazz +> so that it is obvious what it is.
So that's the Playlist created. As you can see, <Genre is Acid Jazz +> has 89 songs in it and I can assure you that's how many songs are in the Acid Jazz genre section. Now, all that remains is to add the additional song.
    7. Find your "two-genre" song and click File/Get Info/Info (or CTRL+I - that's an "eye") to bring up the edit song option. In the Grouping field, type in <Acid Jazz> (remember to use the same text you used in the Grouping box in step 3. This means you only have to type in the same genre name to the Grouping box,  to get it into that particular Playlist. I mentioned this in step 3).
Notice that we are not changing the Genre. Click the OK button.
Now look at the Playlist <Genre is Acid Jazz +> again.
Notice that is now has 90 songs and at number 60 is the <Music For Gong Gong>. Note that the genre for that song is still Afro-beat, so the song still appears in the genre Afro-beat as well.
To add any other song to this particular two-genre Playlist, simply find the song in your Library and type <Acid Jazz> into the Grouping box, as in step 7. It's that simple!
Here's an extra tip. Too many Playlists and having issues finding your way through them?
I have renamed the Playlist Genre is Acid Jazz + so that it is now named Acid Jazz Plus and I've dropped it into a Playlists Folder named GENRES (capitals makes it easy to find the folders on iDevices).
Notice that here in iTunes, Playlists are sorted in the following order:
Playlist Folders (and then the Smart Playlists and Regular Playlists inside it)
    Smart Playlists
    Regular Playlists
... but on my iPod Classic (for example), they are sorted in alphabetical order. So to find the Playlist Acid Jazz Plus, go into the Playlists menu and scroll down to G, go into GENRES, and in there will be Acid Jazz Plus, with all 90 songs!
I hope you will give this a try, you have nothing to lose but a little time. Let us (all) know how you get on with it. We'd like to know.

  • Click one album get a totally different artist

This just started. I click Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde first song and takes me to Queer As Folk. Tried this with another Dylan Album (both from cd's by the way) and it plays John Mayer. Tried signing in/out/in out etc. turned on iTunes Match (even though I thought I'd finally freed myself of this monster) and to no avail the problem persists. Luckily, I have all my music stored in AMAZON CLOUD so if-worse comes to worse-I can re-download, but seriously does anyone know what could be going on, why songs are all scrambled (all of a sudden) on just a few albums? Of course I haven't checked them all, but a sampling shows a few of my albums give me totally different songs in the play bar.

  • In iTunes can I make a song apart of two different albums? How?

I have volume 4 of glee music in one album but then I have a lot of other stuff in the complete season 2 album and I want the volume 4 stuff in the season 2 album but I also want it in the volume 4 album. Can I do that?
I have the Yosemite update and I've updated iTunes so that it's pink as well.

Only by making a second file.
Right-click, Show in Finder, and make a copy of the song file.  Change the name of the file, add it to iTunes, and edit its info so that it is associated with the second album.

  • How do you make the albums show up on the song?

Is it supposed to automatically do that? Or do you have to make it show up manually?
Cuz on my Nano, I have pictures, but the albums don't show up on the picture.

You need to have album art for the songs.
See this for how to add it...

  • How can I make compilation albums show up in genre on iPhone 5s?

I love my iPhone 5. However I have noticed that when I look for music in my iTunes, and go under Genre, that some albums don't show up. I finally realized it is ALL the albums that are Compilations. Let's take Brazilian as an example. Several points of information: Yes, the Genre is listed as the same for all. Yes, the compilation albums DO show up on the iTunes interface on my MacBook Pro. Yes, if I SEARCH for a song in the compilation from within that genre, it WILL show up. Yes, the number of songs is included in the number of songs listed under the Genre title under the Genres interface. For example, under Genres, Brazilian says 139 songs, 526 minutes. But if I click on Brazilian, because the compilations are not listed, and I count the number of songs, there are only 66. That's because the Compilation albums are not showing up. And Yes, if I go under More --> Compilations, yes they are there of course. But I don't want to listen to a song just because it's part of a Compilation. I want to be able to choose an album from ALL the Albums I have marked as Brazilian, whether they're compilations or not. And I don't want to have to choose them from the playlists, because the playlists list the music by song, not by album.
Therefore, I know they are THERE and are listed properly. Is there any way to a) get compilations to show up as albums in a genre on the iPhone? and/or b) get playlists to list as ALBUMS instead of SONGS?
Thank you in advance for any help.

  • How to make a loop that changes two different movieclips from visible to invisible every second

I am writing some code that puzzles me. It may be, because I have a cold or because I've never needed to do anything like this. I want to have two movieclips one is visible and one is not. then one second passes the one that was visible is invisible and the invisible one is visible. What would be the best approach to this, besides handcoding if statements. I know there has to be a faster way and less expensive way than handcoding if statements.
I'd like to thank anyone who replies in advance .

  • Grouping albums with same name but different artist?

I have two albums in iTunes 7 which will not group correctly - either they show up as 24 or so separate albums or a single compilation or so on! I've tried marking them as compilations, as not compilations, you name it.
They share the same album name, but have different artists and genres. How can I convince iTunes that they are two distinct albums? (I would have thought this test should be part of the application's logic, to be honest!)
    Gavin

Note: I have this album set to be a compilation, I have filled in Queen in all 17 tracks as the album artist and all 17 tracks have the same Album name, it still does not group together properly when sorting by Album Artist (only when sorting by Album Name).
iTunes 7 adds support for the ¨Album Artist¨ tag (as used and required by Windows Media Player). Adding support for this tag was actually a request I made myself a while ago.
Unfortunately iTunes is not using this tag in a useful way (as it was intended). The purpose of this tag (as used by Windows Media Player) is to cope with Albums that contain more than one artist, a good example album is Queen's Greatest Hits III (see http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=161431875&s=14344 4 ) this album contains tracks by or featuring David Bowie and George Michael (amongst others) as well as Queen themselves, despite this, everyone would consider the Album itself to be by Queen.
The purpose of the Album Artist tag is so that you can browse by the Album Artist and see the entire album listed (and not just those tracks specifically by Queen themselves). Therefore iTunes should if in browse view mode and sorted by Album Artist show the entire album grouped together - IT DOES NOT. Instead it appears to be being sub-sorted by Artist (as well as Album Artist) and this results in it being split in to 3 or more sections. This applies to all three view modes including the Coverflow view.
As things stand the only benefit I get from iTunes now supporting the Album Artist tag is greater compatibility with Windows Media Player, apart from that it appears completely useless in iTunes as currently implemented.
