Make bookmark icon gone
The small make bookmark icon (small square with right arrow in it) no longer appears next to the "open book" icon in Safari or anywhere else. IPad 3 IOS 7. Rarely used so don't know when it disappeared. Suggestions appreciated.
You should have a 'share' icon of a square with an upware pointing arrow to the left of the URL address field in Safari :
Tapping that shoud give you a number of options, including 'bookmark'.

All my Safari bookmarks have gone generic (dog-eared white rectangle). Some still work when Safari has been opend. When the app is closed, doubleclicking most marks begins to open the app but then it immediately closes.
Otherwise, Safari (2.0.3) is acting normally

Hello
I got an iPhone 3GS and in safari the bookmark icon when pressed use to reveal a listing of different search engines (google, yahoo, bing etc) with a users guide at the bottom of the listings but now they've gone .
How has this happen?
How to I restore them?How do I find out if someone has taken the time to answer my question. This is my first time on this site.

My bookmarks icon, which was located next to the homepage icon is missing. Please tell me how to restore the icon so I can have access to the bookmarks
Hi,
Please try this: '''View '''('''Alt '''+ '''V''') > '''Toolbars''' > '''Customize''' or right-click the '''+''' after the last tab, look for the '''Bookmarks''' icon (there may be two), click, hold, drag and drop it on an empty space in the toolbar. When the '''Customize...''' window is open you can also check if the icon is hidden below other icons by moving the other toolbar items.

After installing firefox 4, I can't make my bookmarks icons just icons and no text?
* Bookmarks toolbar
* Bookmark icons are icons and test
* Bookmarks toolbar is under the navigation toolbar
*You can use the Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar add-on to hide the text - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/roomy-bookmarks-toolbar/

Firefox 23. Bookmark Icons very small. Can I make them larger?
icons on bookmark toolbar are very small and the toolbar contains about 50 icons. I only want to see the top 10 or so that i use most often. Words instead of icons would do nicely.
ThanksAdd code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/userChrome.css
The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_configuration
Use one of the two versions to hide all icons or keep icons for bookmark folders.
<pre><nowiki>@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
/* hide bookmark icons on the Bookmarks Toolbar - show folder icons */

My bookmarks are gone, yet again. This has happened before, but last time it was fine. I was able to restore them since they get saved automatically some days. This time, the "restore" option is not working. It says it can't get to the files or something. My bookmarks are VERY important to me. I would like them back. And please, PLEASE do not tell me to check the "lost bookmarks" section. I read through everything that looked applicable and none of it helped in the least. I apologize if I am being rude, but my bookmarks ARE ALL BLOODY GONE! I even looked in some MozillaZine thing for help, and it hasn't helped at all! It just tells me "this is here, which is a bunch of letters and numbers you'll never understand, and that's there, which is ANOTHER bunch of letters and numbers you'll never understand!!" NONE OF IT MAKES ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER! I want to talk to someone personally about this. An English-speaking human, preferably. God, I don't even CARE! Just help me get them back!!
I've encountered the same problem; I (reluctantly) upgraded Firefox after years of happily using version 2, and discovered that I should have, apparently, saved my bookmarks before updating.
There is NO "places.sqlite" file anywhere on my hard drive.
Following the procedure at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks#Restoring_bookmark_backups restores the bookmarks folder saved *today*. . . after Firefox reverted to a *two year old file* and saved it over my existing one. (How do I know it's two years old? It has house search information from before my toddler's birth, that's how.)
There is no bookmarkbackups folder.
Searches across my hard drive for the following files turn up nothing useful:
* bookmarks.bak
* bookmarks.html
* bookmarks.html.moztmp
* bookmarks-(date).html
* bookmarks-(date).json
Oh, there *is* a bookmarks.html file that's larger than the 7/2 one that's been created; it is, however, from a transfer from IE bookmarks dated 2006.
None of the rest exit. Even searching for just the extension of .json turns up nothing.
I really, really want my bookmarks back, and I am not thrilled about this; I trusted Firefox not to screw up on an upgrade, and that's the only reason I didn't make a backup before installing. Silly me. -
All of my bookmarks are gone and I did not have a google email account
I downloaded firefox 4 and now all of my bookmarks are gone. I never had a google email account, so I cant retrieve them that way. How can I get them back?
Hopefully you didn't do a complete uninstall of the previous version...
First, you may want to make a backup of your profile folder. It contains not only your current bookmark list, but a folder of backups. But these are not saved forever. To back up Firefox, see [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost%20Bookmarks#os=win&browser=fx4 Backing up your information].
The following article has suggestions for recovering bookmarks: [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost%20Bookmarks#os=win&browser=fx4 Lost Bookmarks | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help].
Hope that helps. -
There was no bookmarks icon on the toolbar. I used View > Toolbars> customise to put various icons on the toolbar all of which were visible using "customise". On going back to Firefox all the other icons remained visible but the Bookmarks Icon disappeared leaving no means of getting a bookmarks column on the left of the screen when using Firefox.
Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar<br />
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" and check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

My bookmarks are gone. How do I get them back?
A few days ago I noticed that about half my bookmarks were gone. Now they have all disappeared.
How do I get them back?See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks
If you have used Firefox for more that five days since that loss then you may no longer have a JSON backup to restore the bookmarks from.<br />
If it happened less than five days ago then immediately make a copy of all the .json backups in the the bookmarkbackups folders to prevent losing older copies (Firefox only keeps the last five of the daily JSON backups). -
My bookmarks are gone, and the awesome bar is not working anymore.
Yesterday morning I had a short problem with my internet connection. I used the qwest quick care to try and solve the issue, but it didn't really help. The internet connection was restored later in the day. Now, however, all my bookmarks are gone and the "awesome bar" no longer makes suggestions for sites when we start typing.
Did you install the Places Maintenance extension and checked the places.sqlite database file?

basically what i have been trying to do is change the bookmark icon on my desktop for a web-link the link is for Air Droid ( i also have the Firefox addon on my phone) to transfer files but the icon is quite bad and easy to miss a white icon with a green paper airplane i have tried for multiple hours if you have any knowledge on the subject you can tell me please do share
You will have to set an icon yourself to an shortcut on the desktop in the Properties via the right-click context menu if the current icon isn't distinctive enough.
You can toggle the browser.shell.shortcutFavicons pref to see if that makes Firefox use the favicon for a desktop shortcut
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Just updated to v3.6.13 and my ability to save bookmarks is gone. Why?
Firefox automatically updated to version 3.6.13 and my ability to save bookmarks is gone. I go to "Bookmark this page" and nothing happens. It happens on both computers I have: Windows 7 and Windows XP.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
* [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
