Make CD/DVD from photos

Using this program can I take my pictures from vacations and put them on CD's or DVD's and show them on my TV using a DVD player?

I´ve tried to back up from iPhoto to DVD, several times. I followed:
Create a CD or DVD by exporting
In iPhoto, select the photos, albums, or video clips you want to burn to a disc.
Choose File > Export.
In the Export Photos window, click File Export, and then select your options. For best results, choose JPEG, Maximum, and Full Size. For more information, see Export a photo.
When you’re ready, click Export, and export the photos to a folder on your computer.
When the export is finished, quit iPhoto.
Click the Finder icon in the Dock, and then insert a CD-RW disc or a blank CD-R or DVD-R disc into your drive.
Drag the folder that contains your exported photos to the disc’s icon.
When the files have been copied, choose File > Burn Disc, and then click Burn.
The disc can´t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E)
Am I missing something?
Thank you in advance.

Can you make excellent quality DVD's from photos using Premiere Elements 10 using a Mac?"

You should not have any issues.
If you are using only Still Images, here are the tips:
Set up your Project as either NTSC, or PAL DVD, in either Widescreen 16:9, or Standard 4:3. For most current still cameras, the Widescreen 16:9 would be the more likely candidate, but also consider the TV's, that your viewers will likely have. If there are a ton of older, 4:3 CRT TV's in that mix, then consider them.
Scale all of your Still Images to about the Frame Size of your Project, so ~ 720 x 480 for NTSC. See this ARTICLE.
    Import those into the Project.
Drag those to the Timeline, and edit, as required.
    Add any Scene Selection Markers.
When edited, go to Create Menus, and choose either a Wide, or Standard (depends on which you chose) Menu Set, then adjust, as is required.
    When authored, Burn to Disc.
Remember, your Still Images are probably much higher resolution, than DVD, so do not expect HD quality material. However, if you/your viewers have an up-rezzing DVD, or BD player, properly hooked up, the resultant DVD will look spectacular.
    Good luck,

Why when I make a dvd from an album are my photos not in order?

Simply because your Explorer/Finder only takes into account the file names and dates of your files.
For instance, in Windows, you have to tell the explorer to sort by 'date taken' otherwise the default sort orders are file dates or file names.
If you have given a 'custom' sort order to your albums, the only way for the Explorer to sort in the same way is to set the custom sort order in the album, export to a new folder with the 'rename' option - same starting text string plus order.

Trying to make a dvd from a project and this error message appears .The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-2125)

    Hi
    Error -2125
OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large.
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choice of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choice of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
    iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
    less than 25Gb (my minimum)

If you are getting OSStatus error -2125, I've seen this caused by the computer display sleep settings.
Try changing the sleep settings to never and see if you are able to export.

  • What is the best way to make a DVD from iMovie

What is the best way to make a DVD from iMovie?
    I am using iMovie 06 (Naturally) with iDVD 08. I have always used;
iMovie 06, File > Share to iDVD 08. And got pretty good results.
Some say the best way is to quit iMovie 06, open iDVD and import the movie from the Media button.
I have tried both methods in the results look the same. I'm interested in getting the very best quality possible.

You likely have one of the most expensive media converter boxes on the market today.
But does it work well with most macs? (my guess is that it does). But more specifically can it "handshake" with an intel based mac? I personally haven't tried it.
But you may want to read this for yourself if you haven't already:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1179361&tstart=2362
Assuming it works then the best format is .dv which this unit will support apparently.

Apple no longer sells iDvd.  You will have to purchase an older version of iLife that has iDvd on it or use a third party application such as Toast from Roxio.

  • How to make a dvd from an iPhoto 9 slideshow?

How do I make a dvd from an iphoto 9 shideshow with a macbook pro

You cannot export it as a movie, the only way is to export it as a slide show. Select the quality (bare in mind the higher the quality, the more space it will take up) and click export. It is compatible with ipod touch, iphone 4+, ipad apple tv, mac and PC. Select automatically send slidshow to Itunes, and you can sync it with any device.

  • Unable to make a DVD from a book I have made in I-photo 09

    Hi.
I have just loaded i-life 09 and seem unable to make a dvd of books I have made in I-photo.
This was a straight forward process with i-photo 08.
It is as if it tries to pull one image only from the album.
I generally make the book up, go to Share... click Send to I-dvd, and then it all loads up from there.
I then create the finished dvd, of the book already made.
    This does not happen now.
It tries to up load and comes up with preparing or sending to I dvd, but does nothing from that point, where it used to before.
I can only think it is a glitch with i life 09.
Is there a fix out there!!
    Thanks in advance.

I can't answer your question, but maybe you can help me as you say it is easy to transfer an iphoto08 slideshow to idvd and burn it. I transferred the slide show OK and its name appeared on the idvd main page but when I selected it and burned it I got only a burn of the default first idvd page with the rotating theme and the name of my slideshow on it! The slideshow did look correct when I doubleclicked on it and it played in Preview. How do i get it to burn?

  • For the beginner: Make a DVD from DV

    KEYWORDS:
Interlace, chop, streak, line, DVD, motion, action, mouse, teeth, blinds
    PURPOSE:
Provide a condensed procedure to help the beginner easily convert his/her mini-DV camcorder video into a highest quality DVD using FCP, Compressor and DVDStudioPro.
    BACKGROUND:
I was frustrated beyond words with the quality of video coming out of a standard, no-bells/whistles vanilla DVD produced by FCP/Compressor/DVDStudioPro. I knew it was a user error and not a problem with the software. After days of research and headache and thousands of discussions on the subject I was finally successful in producing a DVD that I was proud of.
    PROCEDURE:
    1) Capture your video using FCP. I use Capture Now feature. My capture settings were 'FireWire NTSC' and 'DV NTSC 48kHz'
    2) Edit your sequence to your likings. Don't forget to add chapter markers!
    3) Verify Field Dominance is 'Lower (Even)' - most DV camcorders use this setting. HD uses Upper. Check your device manual to be sure. This can be done by selecting the sequence and right-click -> settings. My settings were framesize 720x480, Aspect ratio 'NTSC DV (3:2), Pixel AR 'NTSC CCIR 601/DV 720x480', Field Dominance 'Lower (Even)', Compressor 'DV/DVCPRO-NTSC' Quality 100%, left audio as-is.
    4) Using the 'group selection tool', select all elements in your timeline from start to end.
    5) In top menu choose 'effects' -> 'video filters' -> 'video' -> 'de-interlace'
    6) Export using 'QuickTime Movie', 'current settings' 'audio and video' 'chapter markers' 'deselect Recompress' 'select Make Movie self contained'
    7) Open this output with compressor.
    8) In settings window, drill down to 'apple' -> 'DVD' -> 'DVD: Best Quality 90 min'. Notice the Field Dominance is in AUTO. This is never good from what I've read and experienced. So, click on the 'duplicate selected setting' and this creates a 'custom' preset.
    9) Modify your custom preset video format for Aspect ration 4:3 and field dominance of 'Progressive'.
    10) Save preset
    11) Drag your new custom video preset to your asset
    12) Drag the existing Dolby Digital Prof 2.0 audio preset to your asset
    13) Submit. You can view progress by clicking 'Batch Monitor' then selecting the computer doing the work. This should create m2v and ac3 files
    14) Using DVDStudioPro, import your m2v and ac3 files
    15) Build your DVD menus
    16) Viola! Non streaky, non choppy, perfect DVD that would make your Mom proud!
    THEORY/LESSONS LEARNED:
    1) Several discussions imply you could run into problems choosing 'export using compressor' within FCP. That is why it is recommended you 'export with Quicktime' first.

    Fiaafnr
Gary is not wrong, de-interlacing should not be a requisite for creating a good looking DVD from your NTSC DV edits. That you are seeing choppy results due to field order issues suggests that something is awry in your workflow, that de-interlacing fixes it seems to confirm this. If you outline the specific steps you were taking before, that produced the choppy result, with the same clarity with which you describe your current workflow, then someone might be able to spot the problem.
All that said and done, I'm a strictly PAL HD broadcast kind of guy, I don't do NTSC or DVD so I can't really claim any first hand authority on the matter.
What happens if you simply export your movie from the FCP timeline using Export > Quicktime Movie and then drop that directly into DVDSP and/or iDVD and/or Toast?

  • How to make a DVD from MPEG-2 clips without re-encoding?

I have many standard DVDs (in MPEG-2 unfortunately) with unedited video footage. I want to extract the best parts of those DVDs and compile them to a new DVD without re-encoding (no fancy scene transitions needed).
I have a program called Cinematize 2, that lets me rip the parts I want as "Main Video Stream" (QT), Elementary streams or MPEG2- Program streams. I can save audio and video as one or two separate files. Which ones works best with DVDSP? I would prefer to save as MPEG-2 Program Stream (one file), as these files can also be played back on the computer with the VLC player.
If I have many different MPEG-2 clips, if I make a DVD with DVDSP, can those clips be played back to back like a movie?
I would appreciate any advice on how to to this the best way I want to have as many options open to me as possible in the future. In particular, in which state or format I should save the files from the DVDs, so that I am both able to watch them individually with VLC as well as edit them together in FCP or DVDSP.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Don
You do need to use separate video and audio files, and Streamclip can do it right (I never used Cinematize!).
And can it work with AC3 as well as WAV and AIFF
You can use AIFF (uncompressed) audio and/or Dolby AC3. If you can try using AC3 audio in your DVD-R projects because first, it takes less space that AIFF (using AC3 you can fit 120 min of high quality video in a 4.7 disc) and second, because it has a lower bitrate. Using AIFF is a very common cause of formatting errors and playback problems, because highbitrate errors.
I have yet not used DVDSP, so I'm not familiar with the process.
You can visit [Drew13's site|http://www.dvdstepbystep.com> for some good tutorials.
    Hope that helps !

  • Can I make a DVD from the iMovie I just created?

Hello! Hey, nothing like last minute but I created a movie using still photos and music in iMovie. Not one problem, went without a hitch. However, I want to put this in a DVD to watch on my TV tomorrow morning....it's a Christmas gift for my husband and daughter. Is there any way to do this? Do I have to do it in iDVD?
I realize this probably won't get answered tonight considering this is Christmas Eve. But, thought I'd try.
    Thanks!
    Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas to you also.
Choose share and media browser, once this is complete open iDVD and you will see your movie in the media browser, you can then use it with iDVD to make your DVD.
    Next time try iMovie 06.
I use both iMovie 08 and iMovie 06, if I want to make a DVD I prefer iMovie 06. iMovie 08 is not as DVD friendly as iMovie 06.
iMovie 08 has replaced "Share to iDVD" with "Share to media browser". Also iMovie 08 cannot set chapter markers, this has to be done with another program.
When using iMovie 06, one mouse click will set a chapter marker EXACTLY where you specify. In just a few seconds set all your chapter markers. When you are done editing just "share to iDVD 08" and all of your chapter markers will be there!
iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 is a terrific combination.
Apple includes iMovie 06 as a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)
