Make Colour Film Black and White

Sorry about this but I can not find how to make my colour video into a black and white film.

You'll need a reverse telecine scan to film for that.
Or if you want to fake the look in FCP, try this: remove the saturation in the 3 way color corrector, then with the brightness and contrast filter play with contrast to get a pleasing look.

  • How do I make image backgrounds black and white while maintaining color in the foreground objects?

I have a close up close-up image of an orchid with blurred background.  I am trying to make the background black and white while maintaining the foreground color on the petals, buds and stems.  Any ideas?

Use the Blank & White Brick and either brush the effect onto the background or brush is away from the foreground.  "Detect Edges" will help control the edge of the mask.
You might be interested in knowing that you can brush on/away masks of different strengths, and thus produce effects in between 0% and 100%.
Search the forum -- there are several good posts detailing how to create this effect.

What program are you using - Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements, what version, and on what computer operating system is it running?
If you are using Photoshop Elements and not Premiere Elements, you have posted in the wrong forum. In that case, you want to post in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
    Photoshop Elements
If your program is Premiere Elements, I will give you a how to for what you want to do using Premiere Elements for your video project.
We will be watching for more information from you.

  • C6150 - how to make it a black and white only printer

I have the C6150 all-in-one printer - it keeps running out of color cartridges even though I rarely use color printing.  I want it to ignore the status of color cartridges even if they are empty.  I set my printing option to say "black cartridge only" but it still doesn't allow printing and given an error message that "Replace the following empty ink cartridges to resume printing" - why does it need color cartridges to print in black when I am explicitly specifying it to use "Black cartridge only" in my print option?  How do I make this printer a black and white only printer and igonre the status of color cartridges?

I have that happen as well. I have it set to print black only and it is still using color. Haven't a clue why!!!

  • Colour in black and white digital image

how do i colour in a black and white digital image please. I have never used this programme before, so any idiots guide you can give me would be great.

Go to Image Menu>Mode and be sure that RGB color is checked
Open your image, duplicate the background layer, shut off the visibility of this layer by clicking on the eye icon, and work on background copy layer
Set your foreground color chip to red (I used this for the blouse)
In the tool box, activate the magic wand tool. On the tool's option bar, check "contiguous", and set tolerance to 40.
Click on the blouse. You will see "marching ants", indicating that the blouse is selected
Go to Edit menu>Fill selection and under contents use foreground color
Press CTRL+D on keyboard to get rid of the marching ants
Next I worked on the skirt with green foreground color, and repeated steps 2-5. And so on .
Note, that in order to get a clean selection you may have to reduce the tolerance setting. For the skirt-hem, I had to go down to 8 in each pleat.
Here is a partially completed rendition for your reference.

  • NEWB question - How do I make my video Black and white?

I've poked around the manual, google, and the forums. I'm sure the answer is MORE than obvious, but at this time....i cannot figure it out.
How do i get to a settings/coolor bar with sliders that will allow me to make video B&W, control saturation and brightness?
    Thanks guys!

GOOD NEWS! Thanks to you guys, I figured it out. Within the 3-way color corrector here is what I did (for future searchers):
    - Go the effects tab.
    - Go to Video Filters> Color Correction> 3-way color corrector.
    - Click and drag the filter on the the clip in the time line.
    - Now double-click the clip you just dragged the filter on to, this should be it up in the viewer up top.
    - No, click on the 3-way color correction tab.
    - You will see 3 color wheels. Ignore them for now and notice the slider underneath them, "Saturation" or "Sat". Take this slide and move it to the very left.
You now have black and white video.

  • Colour hues - black and white prints

I've just replaced the ink cartridges in my hp photosmart printer, and now images that are black and white on my computer print out with a pinky yellow hue? How do I fix this
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system?  It sounds like your printer is not properly printing cyan.  If you are printing photo's the printer will generally not use black ink, it will mix the colors because the pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo paper.

  • How to make a photo half black and white with select colours

    Hey,
Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to make a photo black and white with abit of colour like the one attached... on CS4?
    Cheers

Haven't seen you attached file as it takes a long time for attachments to load on this forum.  Try little camera icon instead.
EASIEST way to have B&W in areas is to add Hue and Saturation adjustment layer.  Use sliders to make B&W.  Next paint on layer MASK, with black, to restore color in areas you want to show color.

  • I have an epson printer epson stylus office BX625 FWD that will only print in black and white on my PC it prints full colour

i am unable to print in colour only black and white where as my PC prints all day in colour

What does airprint have to do with printing in bw vs in color? The user hasn't even stated which printing method they use.
I watched your video the other week after seeing you post it in a thread where you also suggested to it to be the solution. The video could not have been more off topic and was the biggest waste of anybody's time. So it is completely suspect when you keep injecting your youtube video in several threads.
There's a few things that changed when it comes to printing and scanning in Yosemite.
The first order of business is that users should get the latest driver for their device/printer/scanner. That will get them up and running before they even finished taking notes while watching videos.

  • Make Black and White PDF from Color JPGs

I don't have a scanner and use my digital camera to make 2-3 page document PDFs occasionally.  I take a picture of a page, crop it in an image editor, and finally drag and drop the jpgs into Acrobat to create a pdf.  The problem is that these docs don't print very well because they are created in color.  Is there an easy way to make them in black and white instead of color?   I don't want greyscale documents, because they don't print very well either.

    ~graffiti wrote:
Grayscale would be the way to go to retain shadows and tints.
I'm dealing with text-based documents on colored paper, so shadows and tints are exactly what I don't want.
Printing a greyscale image on a laser printer produces the same result as printing the original image in full color.
I'm not sure what you mean by that. Could you elaborate a bit?
I use a non-color laserjet.  Printing a color document with a black and white printer and printing a greyscale document converted from that doc will print the exact same thing, i.e. black text with nasty grey backgrounds.

  • Can I desaturate to Black and white but retain one colour??????????

    Hi there,
I'm trying to get a desaturated effect on a sequence that gently fades from full colour to Black and white over the course of a minute. My question is: Can I retain one colour (ala rumble fish or Schindlers list) whilst everything else turns to black and white? I want the colour red to be retained. Anyone know an easy(ish) solution?
    Thanks in Advance

  • Make video black and white

I searched for an answer but was only able to find info regarding color pass. I simply need to know how to make my video completley black and white. I have tried dragging down different effects and turning down all RGB, chroma, gamma etc...but I can't find out how to do it. As a long time Premiere user, there was an effect that one could drag down and it would make the video black and white.
Please help me find a simple way to make video black and white. I'm using Final Cut Pro 5
    Thanks in advance!

AND-- you'll probably find you want to play with the contrast a little bit. Video is notorious for really not having all that much contrast range. It's the colors that fool the eye.

  • Printing in black and white only - looking for a definitive solution

    Hi
I've been trying to find out once and for all how to make sure my black and white text documents are printing only from the large pigment-based cartridge (525 PGBK), rather than using the smaller black dye-based cartridge (526BK), or from a combination of the dye-based colour cartridges. I've trawled through endless forums, and finally in frustration I recently called Canon's Australian phone support team.
I thought I'd nailed it. The phone support person told me that if the document I'm printing is definitely black only, then all I need to do is print normally, with grayscale DE-selected. He said nothing about also de-selecting duplex. But I've since read online advice that contradicts this in relation to other models (I haven't found any advice based specifically on the MG6150, apart from the phone guy from Canon). Some say you need to SELECT grayscale and DE-select duplex; others say to DE-select both grayscale and duplex; others say to select grayscale, DE-select duplex, and also select dither (on my screen that's under Main > Print Quality > Custom). I'm now wondering whether I've nailed it after all.
If anyone from Canon is reading this, can you please give a definitive answer to these questions:
    1. How do I ensure that my black and white text documents print only from the large pigment cartridge?
    2. Can I print in automatic duplex using this method, or do I have to do manual duplex?
    2. Will this also work for purely black and white NON-text documents as well (e.g., photos that have been converted from colour to B&W)?
    3. If not, is there another way of forcing B&W NON-text documents to print from the pigment cartridge? What about a way of forcing colour documents to print from the pigment cartridge?
    4. If my smaller black dye cartridge (526BK) isn't being used up at the same rate as the other dye cartridges, is there a way of forcing the printer to use this instead of the pigment cartridge for B&W text documents, but NOT to mix in any of the colour cartridges at the same time?
    5. Does this procedure work for all other Canon printer models in addition to the MG6150, or just a limited range?
Many thanks for your patience in reading this -- I'm really trying to get the best out of my printer rather than give up and buy a different brand, and I'm sure others would appreciate a definitive answer to these questions as well.

I have at MG8100 and it seems that there is no solution to this. I have scoured the web for one and it seems that there is no way to print in black and white only. The grayscale option uses all the colours including black to print.
I have gone through a ton of colour ink just printing black and white documents. Its cost me a fortune and I've worked out that I can get it done cheaper by going to the print shop.
As far as I am concerned this unbelievable. A printer that doesn't give you the option to print using black ink only! And its not advertised or made known in any way. You have to buy the product and then find out later that it does not have a black and white print option. It seems there are a lot of people out there that are unhappy about this, and the "problem" seems to go quite far back. Why haven't Canon responded by adding this feature?! I wont say it here, but I think it must be obvious. Brings to mind the story of housecleaning product manufacturers that increase the size of the closures so that consumers will use more of the product, which is actually wasteful, so as to increase the purchase cycle.
This leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm flogging mine now, and I am done with Canon for good!
