Make Copy from Original After Editing?

I frequently make many adjustments to a photo, maybe even edit further in Photoshop, and then at a later date I want to make another copy of the original image in LR. If I know ahead of time that I'm going to want several versions of an image I can make Virtual Copies before I make any changes, but sometimes I decide I want a copy of the original image after I've already made many adjustments. How do I make a copy of the original after I've made many changes?
I vaguely remember a pulldown menu command in LR1 or so that said "Make copy from original" but I don't see it in LR3.

Well, you can worry about that if you prefer. But the way I look at it, it's always possible to display a before/after. So if Lightroom is capable of always showing the before view of the image it seems to me that it should always be able to restore the image to that point. Remember, none of the changes made in Lightroom are permanent. All editing is nondestructive. In other words, the original image data is always intact. It's good enough for me. If you want more reassurance then maybe someone else has a better idea.

You need to make sure the kobo is registered with the same Adobe ID that the main ADE (digital editions) is registered with.
If the main ADE is not registered with an explicit Adobe ID yet, return the book, register ADE with your ID, and borrow the book again.
To register ADE (if not already registered), menu/Help/Authorize Computer on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Comptuer on the older more reliable v1.7.2).
To register a dedicated ereader kobo once ADE is registered, connect kobo by usb and in ADE use menu/Help/Authorize Device on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Device on v1.7.2).
If the kobo is a tablet device you may need to follow kobo instructions to register the Adobe ID using the app on the device rather than via ADE.

Deleting original video from ipad after editing in imovie

Hi everyone. I am new to imovie on the ipad and I have just bought a GoPro Hero 2 to take some video.
My problem is that the video I am taking is in large clips. The camera is on for about 20 mins at a time and the useful footage is about 5 - 45 sec long each clip. I am planning to make about a 5 min movie but as you appreciate the amount of footage I take to get 5 mins of the good stuff is huge.
I want to know if I can make a project of multiple clips, that I want, but delete the original video which is 98% rubbish and clogging up the ipad? This process is going to take some time so I just want to get what I want ready for editing and delete the excess.
I tried to delete the original footage from iphoto after I edited out the stuff I wanted but then the project footage was lost.
I apologize if this has been answered or if this is a basic question but as I said this is all new to me. Any help would be appeciated.

2. When you get there, ask about export settings. Sounds like that's where the issue is.

'aliases' file keeps reverting to original after editing

Until recently I've had no problem editing the 'aliases' file to add a alias to our postfix mail server. Suddenly the server keeps restoring the original back over my modified file.... about 10-40 seconds after editing and saving it. I notice when looking at a file listing it now has the '@' symbol at right end of the attributes.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on with the file?

Thanks Camelot, Most places I've seen any info on the '@' did talk about the extended attributes. A few forums mentioned it may be linked to 'TimeMachine'. I was thinking that maybe it was causing the file to be returned to it's original state... but it shouldn't do that unless you request it, right?
Doing the ls -l@ aliases, I get 'com.apple.TextEncoding 15'. Does that help?
I've tried changing the file both by editing in the textedit by opening in Finder and opening with VI in a terminal window while sudoing as su. No difference.
I've even tried creating a file from scratch and copy/pasting the text from Aliases into it, then overwriting the aliases file with the new one. The file successfully overwrites and looses the @, only to have it revert back to the original very shortly after.

I can't open a folder copied from windows after mountain lion install.

Yesterday, I installed mountain lion, since then I can't open any of folders I copied from other windows computer.
It worked fine with lion. Idon't understand.

All of your TBird mail files are located in ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/XXX.default. The library folder is hidden in Mountain Lion by default. To make it visible open the terminal app in your utilities folder and type "chflags nohidden ~/Library" without the quotes.

Iphoto is a different paradigm than you're used to. I don't understand why you are trying to transfer your edited photos back to an external disk.

Jitter problem after burning DVD from avi or mpeg2 that was exported from original timeline edit

When burning a DVD directly from the timeline in Elements 7, there is usually no problem, however, when first exporting it to an .avi or .mpeg2 file, and then putting that new file back into the timeline, and then burning that new file to a DVD, there is jitter or "strobing" when the subject in the video moves (when playing the DVD).
It's not an install, or re-install issue, because before I started with this new computer, the exact same thing happened with the last computer I was using.

I do not know the newer Pinnacle Studio products, but going back to 8 and 9, through 9.4.3, the workflow was based on DV-AVI, just like PrE is. Pinnacle might have changed over to MPEG-2 in later versions, but I just do not know, as I have not seen a version, since Studio 10 hit was such a disaster.
One of the problems when working from DVD-Video material is that it has already been compressed to MPEG-2, loosing a good bit of data, and also converting the material to GOP (Group of Pictures), so that individual Frames are not present any longer. This precludes Frame-accurate editing, unless that compressed material is converted to all I-frame. See this ARTICLE for some background on GOP. Then, upon Burn to Disk, that I-frame material is once more compressed (again) to MPEG-2 and GOP for use in a VOB container. This WILL cause degradation of the image, most noticeable where there is motion, either subject, or camera motion. Some NLE's offer what is referred to as "Smart Rendering." This can help in some areas. For portions of the footage, where no changes have been made, beyond just cuts, the material will NOT be Transcoded again to MPEG-2, but will be used, as-is. Note: add a Transition, or a Title, or a PiP, or any Effect, and that footage WILL be Transcoded, so the Smart Rendering aspect will be moot. Sony's Vegas has been recommended for Smart Rendering, but I have never used it. This might be worth investigating. Also, if Pinnacle Studio is working fine, you might want to consider using that program. I have 5 different NLE's on my workstation, and use each for specialized situations, though the vast majority of my editing is done in PrPro.
Regarding the existing DVD-Videos, much depends of the source. PrE can Import and work with 100% DVD-compliant (very important) VOB's. Unfortunately, most DVR's do not create 100% DVD-compliant discs. This is most often manifested in the first VOB, which will contain any Menus and navigation. This ARTICLE will give you some background on VOB's, which are Video Object "containers."
As you point out, there can be issues with the resulting MPEG-2, as it will span part of VOB 1, and then all remaining VOB's. With 100% DVD-compliant VOB's, there will be a perfect flow in the MPEG-2 that spans the multiple VOB's. When the VOB's are not 100% DVD-compliant, issues can arise.
Considering your DVR, it is likely that ripping is going to be the best workflow, as that will strip out the other material in the first VOB and should then gather the data for the spanned MPEG-2. The ultimate rip will be to a DV-AVI Type II file w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio. This is an older FAQ Entry from the Encore Forum, on ripping, but might have some useful tips. Note: this was for getting material from a DVD-Video for authoring to a new DVD in Encore, and not editing.
For non-commercial DVD-Video editing, I will use an A-D bridge and my DVD deck, and capture to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio, and Import the resulting files into PrPro/PrE. This is exactly the same workflow that I use, with analog material, like VHS.
Also note that PrPro, a US$900 program did not get VOB Importing until CS4.2 (current version), while PrE has had it for some time now. Also, PrPro is a DV-AVI-based, I-frame, program, just like PrE, so no "Smart Rendering" there either. Same exact issues exist in "big-brother," PrPro.

Cannot revert to original after editing in Photoshop

I recently used Photoshop to edit a photo I had in iPhoto. After making my changes in Photoshop, I saved the photo and the changes were reflected in iPhoto. I now want to revert the photo to the original, but when I tried to do this in iPhoto it would not allow me. The message in iPhoto said I could not revert to original because it was edited in an external editor or an earlier version of iPhoto. I thought iPhoto was supposed to retain the option to revert to original even when edited and an external editor. Is this correct? I tried changing the default settings for editor from iPhoto to Photoshop, but that did not make a difference when I repeated the process. What other options can I try?

Note 1: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2: editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

Cannot "revert to original" after editing in PS Elements

I just bought and loaded PSE v10.
I have just tested out editing a photo in PSE, having set preferences to choose PSE as my external editor. The new version correctly appeared in iphoto but when I click on it and go to "photos" in the menu, "revert to original" is greyed out. Also, how do i tell by looking at a photo that it has been edited - eventually I will forget.

Make sure you've setup PSE's preferences correctly for use with iPhoto:

NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

Exchange Calendar Events Disappearing from iPhone after Editing

iPhone 6 running iOS8.
Exchange calendar events are disappearing from iPhone right after I edit them from my phone. But they are still visible on my MacBook in Outlook.
It used to happen very rarely but lately it has been happening very frequently. Haven't been able to find a pattern and re-create it.
Tried searching online for this issue. Found quite a few threads about calendar sync issues, including the GMT bug but haven't been able to find this exact issue that I have been facing.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I have the same problem and it has nothing to do with filing or moving emails, for instance just before I logged in here to find a solution for the problem, I had just received and email on my iPad. I was reading it then clicked on a link. When I finished reading the link In Safari and went back to the email, it was gone. I have replied to an email then come back to it and it was gone. This had nothing to do with viewing the email on a ore device. This is a real problem I have asked about before and no one seems to know the answer.

Keeping images full size when uploading from "Photos" after editing

Is there any way that I can edit photos in the ”Photos” app and keep what I have edited and also keep them full size when I upload them Flickr?

Highlight the images you wish to export.
Ctrl-Shift-E to open the export dialog.
Change the top drop-down list to Hard Drive.
Choose a location for the files in the Export Location section.
Adjust file naming if necessary.
In the File Settings section make sure you have the correct output format selected and choose a quality (85 is fine for most things and keeps file size manageable).
Make file size changes as appropriate in the Image Sizing section.
If you are downsizing a lot then consider adding some output sharpening.
Click Export.
Hopefully that covers most things.

Usb hard drive will only alow me to copy from it not edit

this is my first mac and ive only had it for about a week but i pick up on computers very quickly, i have a usb hard drive that i have used previously with PC's the drive in it was pulled from a PC laptop nd formatted it but when i connect it to my mac it will allow me to view and copie the files but not edit or delete them.
i would be grantful for any ideas thank u in advance

Note that you cannot just reformat the drive. You must re-partition the drive. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (the one with the mfgr.'s ID) from the leftside list, then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Select one partition from the dropdown menu. If you want to use the drive to boot the MacBook, then click on the Option button and select the GUID partition scheme from the dropdown menu. Click OK, then click on the Partition button. Wait for the volume to mount on the Desktop, then quit DU.

Music not copied from PC after restore

I had to restore my 30 gb iPod with iTunes running on Vista. When the restore process finished successfully, I found that not all my music was copied to the iPod. There were no error messages. How do I get all the music on my PC into my iPod?

Have you tried it more than once? Have you checked how much space is left on your iPod? Have you et it to sync only checked songs and video an hve all your music checked so they can go on the iPod?

Create but not copy from original movement type.

Dear all
I have a transaction using movement type 711/712. But I need those material documents can have a chance to be canceled (reversed) which system is not allowed right now.
So I copied 711 into Z71 and 711 into Z72, but the "Function Code" is still the same(DUV), which means there's no reverse can be set. (I think I need the function code to be SS & ST)
Any suggestion?
Or which movement type I can use to copy?

But we didn't use standard SAP inventory process.
We just print out stock list (MB52) and if there's any difference, we use MIGO 711/712 to adjust.
I think this process can't be changed now. (For scope reason
I tried to copy 201/202 and assign GBB/INV. And the accounting document is the same as I expected.
But I still wonder if there's any impact on other things........
