That should work, but rather than using the control panel open a Windows Explorer window and right-click on a file with the extension you want to open in Photoshop. Then select the and select the Open With option and if Photoshop CC 2014 is available in the list click it. If it's not there, select Choose Default Program and in the new window that appears choose More Options at the bottom of the window and then Look For Another App On This Computer from the bottom of the window again. Then you can navigate directly to the Photoshop CC 2014 install folder and manually select the Photoshop.exe file from there. That should then set Photoshop CC 2014 as the default program.
If this still doesn't work, then you'll have to see about getting help from Microsoft's forums as it's really an issue with Windows and not Photoshop.

Making iphoto default photo program

iphoto used to work fine, I would log into facebook, myspace, my blog, etc and choose to upload file, and it would bring up my photos in iphoto. NOW, it brings up photobooth. Well, I have no photos in photobooth, and I have no NO clue how to make it go back and make iphoto the default photo program. HELP! thanks in advance...

Let me try to be more specific. When I go to add photos, either using facebook, my blog, or pretty much any program, it gives you the option to "browse" your computer in order to upload photos. When I click on browse, it used to bring up iphoto as an option, I would click it, then pick which photo/photos I wanted to upload. Now, it brings up photo booth instead, which of course does not have any pictures in it. I need to get iphoto back to being the default program so that when I go to upload pictures, I can upload them directly from iphoto. Does this make more sense?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

How to make Lightroom the default photo program

I don't seem to be able to push Aperture to one side. Nor will lightroom come up for selection when changing the screen display.

Vista, iTunes, can't make default, blank Program Associations window

I cannot seem to find iTunes in my list of program association options and I get the iTunes is not the default message each time. Even when I click yes to make it the default program, I get an empty Set Program Associations window.
i've tried removing/reinstalling .. running as admin for install and first time launch ...

I also have this problem.
Launching from the iTunes links causes iTunes to launch a repair install.
Also, with this problem I cannot confirm my apple ID as the Apple Website looks for iTunes and does not think it is installed!
I have tried completely removing all apple poroducts using their guide and reinstalling iTunes, but I get the same thing every time!

Hey folks. I'm trying to get Entourage to be teh default mail program for composing mail as well as reading mail. I already set it to be default for reading mail from the Mail program, bt when I click a "send to" someone type link, Mail keeps popping up. How do I change that? Thanks.

In Mail Preferences you can set your default mail reader to the preferred application. Which one is curently set as your default? I don't have Entourage installed so I Mail (3.5) is the only option. In your case you should be able to select either Entourage or Mail. Let me know if that helps.

Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

You can check the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page.
If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value.

How do I make other email programs my Default Email programs in Windows XP?

I'm not the most tech savvy person, but I've researched this, and haven't found the solution yet. Doing a search it tells you to go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>click on Set Program Access and Defaults>Click the Drop-Down menu under "Custom."
Then under "Custom," there's a heading in bold titled, "Choose a default e-mail program:"
I look to choose Firefox, but it doesn't exist. There are 3 options given.
1) Use my current email program, which is checked. (but how does it know what it is?)
2) Outlook Express (off to the right checked off is "Enable access to this program.")
3) Windows Live Mail (off to the right checked off is "Enable access to this program.")
- I know Firefox does not have email, but I figured someone out there has a similar problem and can help.

How come in several screen shots I've seen online searching for this solution in XP, the default email programs listed contain at least one of: yahoo, gmail, and aol?
I understand they're web mail portals, but they are still appearing under the "Default Email Program" heading in "Custom."

Zip 7 says there is no default email program. How do I make gmail my default email program so i can zip and mail files using zip 7.

Changing default email program for Control Click file to use Outlook

Hi,
We have an interesting issue when when you Control click a file and select "New email with Attachment" it always brings up Mail, I want to change this to Outlook (latest office for Mac). I have checked everywhere for this setting and made sure Outlook is set as the default mail program everywhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction and this would be a quick win for out customer.

"New Email with Attachment" is a Service provided by Mail.app. To use Outlook, you would need an Outlook service. If Microsoft doesn't provide one, it might be possible to make your own using Automator. If you search, somebody might have already done that.

Photoshop Elements as Default Photo Viewer

I have successfully installed Photoshop Elements 4.0. Now I would like to make it my "default" photo viewer--i.e. when I open a photo, I would like it to be in Photo Shop rather than the previous application, which was the Microsoft Photo viewer that came pre-installed on my computer. I haven't been able to find information in the Adobe help section and FAQs on how to do this. Can anyone help me?

Most people want to know how to keep PSE from being the default viewer. :) Actually, the default viewer is a Windows function and not controlled by Elements, but it's an easy thing to change.
Find one of the image files on your hard drive of the type you want to have open automatically in Elements, e.g. all JPEG files. Right click on the image icon and go to Choose Program to Open. If Elements doesn't show on the list, there is a place at the bottom where you can view other program options. Select PSE 4.0 as the default viewer, and also make sure you choose the option to apply the change to all files of the same type. You'll have to do the same thing for each file format, like PSD, TIFF, etc.

#Click the Programs tab and make sure it says "Outlook Express" in the Email menu.

When I try and download photos from my camera, the system automatically launches Photo Viewer in Win 8.1. This causes my Adobe Bridge to lock up.

I recently bought a new computer with Win 8.1 installed. When I installed CS6 64 bit, the installation went seamlessly. My problem is that when I try and download images from my camera, it automatically launches the Windows Photo software to download the photos. I would like to use the Bridge to do this for several reasons. If I turn off the Windows Photo program, it takes me back to Bridge but when I click on Download Photos, it causes Bridge to lock up.
If I click on download photos before I turn on my camera, it does not find the camera (as expected) but then I turn on the camera and reset list and Bridge finds the camera and I can download the photos. Then if I try and download additional photos, Bridge locks up and I need to turn off the software and reboot the computer in order to get anything to download.
I have gone to the System Settings and changed the AutoPlay settings to automatically select Bridge when I download Pictures...I also selected Bridge for the Memory Card. Under Devices, my camera is listed and that is set to "Import Photos and Videos"
Any suggestions?
