Make "esc" key function consistent between AI and PS.

In AI "esc" closes the current Symbol or Isolation mode editing session and retains all changes. In PS "esc" CANCELS the current Filter session WITHOUT saving changes. This is a horrible inconsistency between sister programs and should be standardized. Adobe, just make up your mind which it is and users will adjust. At least it will be consistent!

I logged onto the Adobe forums to point out this exact issue -- I'm so glad I'm not alone! I'm used to it in Illustrator, but it's really messing up my PS workflow; almost lost a lot of progress because I forgot ESC no longer cancels the text changes. I might have to go back to CS6 until there's a solution.
Begging you, Adobe team, please revert it or at the very least give us a preference option. The mockup above would be perfect!

First build whole data flow :
1 .Create Infoarea ,Infoobjects & Masterdata ,Infoproviders ,Infoobject Catelog under Infoarea,MetaData - Characteristics MeteData - Key Figures
2 DSOs ,Infocubes ,Infosets, Multiproviders ,Views in the development system ,Datasources for BW system,Flat File Datasources,Transformations
then get data from the se11 tables as per your requirement :
like RSDVCHA ,RSDBCHATR,RSDCUBEIOBJ,RSDICMULTIIOBJ etc and built view on it as per your requirement .
then built flat file data sources and transformation .
get all data downloaded to flat file in ur PC .In the same way from other system.
make flow from PC File Datasource -> DSO -> Infocube and build queries for different objects .load the downloaded files to them and then run query .
ex : query to compare cube will take cube name and systems name as input and compare objects .

Key Configuration differences between SAP and ORACLE Financials

After spending good 7 years in SAP related projects recently I started working in ORACLE Applications. I used to be an ORACLE programmer years back. To my surprise the same ORACLE Forms are still very much the heart of the ORACLE UI.
Then I thought what will be the key differences between ORACLE and SAP in terms of configuration elements. While I know a bunch of configuraion items in SAP , I am not sure about the same in ORACLE world. I am not even sure some of the configuration items that are available in SAP exists in ORACLE.
Does anyone know both sides of the coin ? The terminology and design ?
SAP has
Client,Company code, Business area, Functional Area, GL, Posting Key, Document Type.
I am trying to get the details of the equivalents of these in ORACLE.
Does anyone know it ?
For e.g , when you post to AP or AR in SAP , GL is updated automatically. In ORACLE you post to a AP Book or AR Book then Run a batch to move them to GL Book.
ORACLE uses SQLLoader to load data . You can write a PL SQL and update the tables directly, which is not the case in SAP. For dataloads and conversions, SAP uses BDC's ( though XI can be used but its slow).For ORACLE its the good old SQL and PlSQL combo.
What are the equivalents of the configuration elements in ORACLE world ?
Also what are the major differences between these two in terms of designing a financial system.

I agree that a case is made on how well these two ERPs solve the day to day tasks before a company chooses one of these two. But my question is aimed at finance to begin with. You are going to need a general ledger for any company or government regardless of ERP. And how well you can drive the ledger to map your business is the key here.
The way ledger is built is around a business area ,company or country and is very tighly designed in SAP. I would like to know if there is any equivalent of the configuration items in ORACLE. I am more interested in terminology of ORACLE.
For example ,
SAP ====> ORACLE
GL ==> Book In ORACLE
Document Number ===> Invoice Number
Posting Period in SAP ==> Posting period In ORACLE
Most of the terms are finance terms , so they are common ( eg. an account number is an account number in ORACLE and SAP ) between two systems. I am interested in any specific thing that is available in ORACLE but not in SAP and vice verse.

my left arrow key is not working so i'm wondering if there's a way to make my number keys function as arrow keys. i'm using an apple keyboard with numeric keypad on os x 10.6.8 (late 2009 imac)

Laptops map the keyboard differently as they are also
using the F1-F12 keys to control screen brightness,
speakers, etc. To access FCP specific uses, you need
to hold down the FN key in the lower left as a
modifer.
Since this a pain in the butt you may want to do
this:
Open up System Preferences
select Keyboard & Mouse
select the Keyboard item on the bar
click on "Use the F1-F12 keys for custom actions"
close.
This should return your function keys to 'normal'
operation. Now if you want to brighten or dim your
screen, hold down the FN key (lower left of the
keyboard) to modify the F# key.

Make ENTER key function same as CTRL+F11 when in Query mode

I have a basic form I'm creating in Oracle Forms 6i.
When the form is in QUERY mode, I would like to make the enter key on the user's keyboard function the same as CTRL+F11 (execute the search).
Is this possible to do without modifying the key mappings file (.res)? Or would you have to make a change to this file in order to accommodate this capability?

You could write your own Key-Enter trigger at the Form level. Key-?? Triggers will fire in "Enter Query" mode, so you will have to check the Mode in your code. Something like:
/* Sample Key-Enter trigger */
BEGIN
   IF :System.Mode = 'ENTER-QUERY' THEN
      Execute_Query;
   ELSE
      ENTER;
   END IF;
END;Personally, I would educate the users to use the Ctrl-F11 keys rather than make a key stroke multi-function. What if they try to use the Enter key for navigation while in Enter-Query mode?

Functional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE

Hello,
beside the licensing restrictions, there are some funtional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE. I have seen some very neat features in OBIEE which are not implemented in OBISE1, e. g. generating powerpoint or the assistants for bi publisher in word. The actual release of EE is 10.1.3.4.0 and it is 10.1.3.2.1 for SE1. Does anyone know, if SE1 will be upgraded to 10.1.3.4.0? And if yes, will Interactive Dashboards, Answers and BI Publisher in this relaese have the functional range of EE?

This question has been posted a number of times. Yes, Server, Answers, Dashboards and Publisher are functionally identical in BISE1 and BIEE. You can use BIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to upgrade your BISE1 10.1.3.2.1 (Oracle trust you not to use the stuff you are not licensed to use such as Delivers).

Whats the functional difference between CUA and UME?

A small query regarding UME (User Management Engine) and CUA ( Central User Administration). Whats the functional difference between these two. I read in help documents that UME will be used for SAP WebAS Java server. But I read that it can be used for ABAP engine as well. Then why do we need to use CUA when we have user friendly interface tool like UME. According to my knowledge from help documentation, UME comes pre installed. so we dont need to install it as we have to do for CUA.
Can any help me in understanding the difference between these two. Thanks in advance. Good day.

It depends on installation type you selected. But are responsible for user administration in terms of creating, deleting, updating and role assignment tasks to users and groups.
--CUA is meant for ABAP Installation. CUA is responsible for entire landscape user administration works with RFC connection talking to all ABAP systems
--UME is meant for Java installations, plus UME is responsible for handling communication between ABAP users and java users.

Functional difference between Blackberry and Internet Browser on the device

Based on the following link, I understand the difference between the Blackberry and Internet browser (http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-general-discussion/2815-difference-between-brow...
I was wondering if there are any functional difference between the two, i.e. HTML rendering, images being broken, etc. Under Browser -> Options -> Browser Configuration, If I configure both the Blackberry and Internet browser the same way, will a particular URL behave the same?
I'm in the process of testing our mobile applications on different devices and would appreciate if you could provide the difference, if any between the 2 browsers.

Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP
secondly support unicode apart from this we have other diff. you can get fom master guide from service.sap.com/instguides
For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key.With out solutionmanager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
For ECC 6.0 is called netweaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
For installing 4.6 you don't required solution manager key.It only having ABAP stack.
4.6C supports NONUNICODE.

Xmodmap - Make Letter Keys Function as Modifer Key as well

Peace all!
In an effort to make the keyboard easier to use, I'm thinking of binding modifer keys to letters on the home row. The idea is, when you're typing normally, typing one letter at a time, the key merely outputs letters. But when you hold the key and press another, it acts as a modifer. For example, you can bind the letter "f" to Control as follows.

add Control = f
Then each time you need to execute a function key like Ctrl+A, you simply hold the "f" key and press "a". This would be much faster than stretching your finger all the way to the Ctrl key.
However, there are some glaring problems. When I hold the key to use it as a modifer, the letter "f" gets outputted as well. Is there a way to somehow configure Xmodmap to output "f" only upon release of the key?

Connection key compatibility problem between Mac and Windows

I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and came up with a work-around?
We are rolling out Contribute CS5 to some employees.
The designers (I'm one of them) are all on Macs. Everyone else is on Windows XP.
We are connecting to our sites via local/network. IT didn't want to set up FTP (I won't go into why right now).
So, here is where the problem is... We set up the site and do the first connection on our Macs. Then when we send out a site key, to a Windows user, the key is no good. This is because Macs handle paths to network shares differently than Windows does.
I thought the solution would be to customize the key with the Windows share path before sending it to the Windows users. However, Contribute wants to verify the path before letting me continute to make a customized key. And that is where I'm stuck. Is there a solution to this - besides switching to FTP?

I've already made tens of portlets using the ASP.Net GDK but I use the newer EDK for the ones I create now. I saw a few functional differences and I'd like to know if I'm mistaken or not.
With GDK, my pages inherit from "Plumtree.Remote.Csp.UI.Page" and under the hood, the context is created (SettingsManager) automatically. Apparently, this is not the case anymore with the EDK. Am I correct?
According to the EDK doc, I need to call "PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request,Response)" for such purpose. Still correct?
The other more important change is that with the GDK, the language of the current thread is automatically set to the language passed by the portal in the "Accept-Language" HTTP header. This is not the case anymore, to my knowledge, and I found out that I need to insert this:
String sLanguage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UserLanguages[0];System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture=new System.Globalization.CultureInfo(sLanguage);
Is this correct or did I miss something?

Problems with key figure quantities between ODS and PSA

We have some key figures which are part of the purchasing transactional load. The key figure in some cases is showing the correct total value for the ordering unit in the PSA but incorrect in the ODS (there is no transformation logic). This seems to happen when an ordering unit exists but a base unit of measure does not exist? Has anyone had similar and how to resolve? Thanks

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I forgot to mention that. As I wrote before, this percentage is given to us directly in the file that is loaded on the system, but since there were problems when taking away a characteristic from the table, I created a formula which should give us the same data. The formula is Percentage = "Products Sold / Total Products" (I used the Percentage part operator, so it looks like this "Products Sold %A Total Products"). The TOTALS value is validated with the person in charge of giving us the file to load.
A sample data record:
DATE--SHOP_ID-DEPT-PRODUCTS-SOLD---PCT.
20080101--125020--

Whats the functional difference between dbconole and using the Grid control.

I know this may seem like a strange question, but I was wondering if I only have one instance on my server, would benefit would i gain if I installed and configured the grid control
over the dbconsole that comes with the 11gr2?
I know the Grid control can discover many databases, but what else can it do that the dbconsole cannot?
