Make field MDMA-DISGR (MRP Group, MRP Area) mandatory in material master

We are using MRP Area (Storage location) and I want to make MRO Group (MDMA-DISGR) mandatory. It is not in the list of fields (IMG > Logistics) to where field selection for material masters is set.
Am I missing something -- or can this field not be made mandatory?
Thanks

Hi
MRP group(MARC-DISGR) is maintained under selection group 51 (Transaction code - OMSR)
You can miantain the selection in Tcode OMS9 based on the filed refernce key using for the material type.
i am not sure is this you are looking for.
Thanks & Regards

  • Mrp groups & mrp areas

Hi, wht is the difference bet mrp groups and mrp areas. if we have 4 different final products (ea consists of around 300 parts- bom) what will be prefered to use for mrp run?

    Hi All,
    For you case :
You can maintain the MRP group for your finish product. But not for all the components of the final products also. because MRP group is based on the Material Type
even the Mrp area you cannot used.
Better use the normal MRP run per the plant parameters.
    1. Main Difference b/w MRP group and MRP area :
    MRP group :
    1.  The MRP group is an organizational object that can be used to allocate special control parameters for planning to a group of materials.
    2. You can maintain MRP groups if planning control per plant is not precise enough for your requirements and you want to allocate certain material groups different control parameters from the plant parameters.
    MRP area :
    1. The MRP area represents an organizational unit which carries out materials requirements planning independently
    2. An MRP area can include one or several storage locations of a plant or stock with a subcontractor

  • MRP Group, MRP controller

    hi  all..
when we are going for imlementation, how to deside how many MRP Group, MRP controller, production scheduller required? what are the factors should be consider for selecting those? is there any thumb rule for selection?.....

The MRP group contains all the materials from the point of view of MRP for assigning special control parameters for the total planning run. These control parameters include, for example, the strategy group, the consumption mode, and the planning horizon. out of all the material in plant which material need to be groped for make to stock (10), which materials need to be made to make to order(20), what are the material need to be grouped for consuption based planning like consumables based on consumption pattern.
    MRP CONTROLLER
Specifies the PERSON/PERSONS responsible for material planning for the particular material/material group
so this grouping and keeping one person responsible for particular material or group depends on 1) volume and value of the material 2) criticality of the material 3)its significance and availability of the material 3) the control and vigiliance you want on the material lie imported materials etc..
whic varies from client to client based their requirement.
    general thumb rule:
take the help of ABC analysis
A category items for 20% of volume consist of about 70-80% of total cost.
b  category items for which 10% volume consists of  10- 20% of total cost
    c. category items for which 70% volume consist of    10-20%  of total cost
and also one category which have more planned delivery time , or materials whic takes max time to process like FORMING MATERIALS etc.
clients analyse generally  apply COST, TIME,AVAILABILTY, CONTROLABILITY into consideration.

    Dear SAP Consultant,
Pls check whether MRP is activated for your material master thru Tcode OMS2.
This can be activated by selecting MRP under user departments in detail screen of material type in Tcode OMS2.

  • How to delete MRP view data after create in Material master data ?

    Hi all ,
After user  create a useless MRP view data in Material master data , how to remove it ?

    Hi
Material master once created cannot be deleted.Only thing u can do is to mark it for deletion
Go to Logistics > Materials management > Material master > Material > Flag for deletion > Immediately.
Give the necessary data that is needed for the view you want to delete.
Press and flag the view you want to delete.
Now the view is flagged for deletion. This means that it's use is limited and it will be cleaned up or really deleted at the next clean up of the system.
    regards

    Hi,
    1. First go to OMS2 > Here for material type, get the "Field reference Key"
    2. Then go to OMS9 > Here in search help of Field sel. group, search for relevant field and select it.
    3. Now click on "Position" button and enter the Field reference Key got in Step1 and select it by pressing enter button. Now select "Reqd Entry" Radio button
Also use OMSR to find the Field Selection key assigned to the Group
You have to find the Field name of the material master field by pressing F1 and then F9 and get the field name then go for field selection

  • Picking Area in the material master is GRAY

    Hi,
    If I maintain a material master manually by tcode MM01, the picking area in the WM view is not gray (changeable) when I try to change it again via tcode MM02;
but if I create the data with LSMW, the filed is gray when I try to change it via MM02.
Kindly please advise what the reason is.
    Thanks.

Or did you change some settings between theses statements?

  • Making only onr field mandatory in material master

    Hi,
We want to make a field 'Account Assignment Group (MVKE-KTGRM)' (field is in  Sales: Sales org - 2 view) mandatory for finished products only.
The field 'Item category Grp' in the same view is already mandatory.
We do not want to make any other additional field mandatory.
    How this can be done?
    Regards,

    hi,
You can make the field mandatory based on the only below points:
    1. Transaction
    2. Material type
    3. Industry sector
    4. Plant
    5. Procurement type
    6. Sap delivery
Now as per above field reference, you can't do only based on the finished production...
So, think abt it and then choose the field reference key as per your req. and then only it is possible to make it mandatory...
As per my view you can make it possible via material type, plant ..
    Think abt it...

  • In material master MRP3 screen "checking group" field is missing,

    Dear All,
       I am facing above problem.
can anybody help me to recall this field.
    Kishor

    Kishor
The reason for this is that the field Checking group may be hidden in the customisation.you have to chage it to Optional or mandatory
This is done in Field group setting
    SPRO>Logistics general>Material Master>Field selection
I am not recalling the exact path. You find with the above path

  • Restrict material groups  at PR/PO creation for items w/o material master

    Dear SAP experts
I have one question related to restricting material groups which are possible for selection during purchase requisition or purchase order creation.
The material group is created and several material master records are linked to it. Now the requirement is that when users are creating either purchase requisitions or purchase orders it shouldn't be possible to select that specific material group>
But this should be valid only if PR or PO are being created for items without material master record. If PR/PO is created for item with material master record then the restriction should not take place.
What would be the nicest solution to achieve that?
Thank you all in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Miha

    Hello Prakash
Thank you very much for your answer. i think it is a very good starting point.
However I am not too familiar with authorization group configuration of material groups.
Right now in our system (transaction OMSF) field authorization group is empty for all existing material groups.
Does this mean that for the material group that I want to have restricted I need to have two entries: one with Authorization group ZOK and another with ZNOTOK (or whatever the naming would be)?
Furthermore I would like to ask you where is then the link between authorization group and user exit?
And thirdly: do you perhaps have some more details which user exit(s) are relevant for our topic?
So far thank you very much and I hope that you can provide me also with additional info.
    Rgds

  • Which table could i find 'Authorization Group'  used for Material master?

    Hi experts,
Is there any table available could i find all 'Authorization Group' list as used by material master data.
OR in SPRO, anywhere could i find 'Define authorization group' for material master data specific??
    Thanks.

    Hi
Authorization group in the material master are maintained at the material type level.
SPRO->IMG-> Logistics - General-> Material Master-> Basic Settings-> Material Types-> Define Attributes of Material Types
List of authorization roups can be found in table T134-Material Types
this filed is a free defined 4 charcter field.
