  • [SOLVED] Simple way to make files available for download on my site?

It is my intention to keep the previous version of the kernel available on my website.  Every now & then it will be very helpful to someone, when they need it & can't get it anywhere.
Could someone please give me instructions on how you do this?
I have set up FileZilla, & can access my space, I have made the simplest of pages, & I have permission from my ISP, so long as I don't make money out of it, I don't have to pay for the bandwidth.
    Thanks in advance.
    [Edit:]
I found out for myself that it is as easy as making a link to them.
    [Edit:2]
Having asked some questions I got answers that make my keeping kernels on a server redundant.  See Post_#2 in the following link:

I have it up, it currently has two copies of the tiny  app' backlight which gives screen brightness control to Mac users with LCD screens, the 2nd copy is just filling in for the kernel.
Could someone tell me how to handle the permissions on the files that I put up, & should I when available also make the source available?

  • Save Bookmarks As 'Cache' and Make them Available Offline

    Hello people!
    This is what I need:
    1) I have lots of bookmarks: more than 300 unique links.
    2) The problem: quite often the links get broken (this is because the website they belong to change (either in content or in url structure). I don't like this: I need to check (to double-cross the information they contain) all these bookmarked pages I have, even months after saving them as bookmarks.
    3) So I want this: I want to save these pages (as they appear at the time I save them as bookmarks) and to have the ability to view them (offline or online)
Note: the crucial part is I need to view these pages 'exactly' (or at least text) as they appear at the time I am saving them as bookmarks.
Note 2: Any idea on how to do this automatically (no page by page) would be GREAT!
System: Windows 7 Home Premium, Firefox: Latest
Thanx so much!!! (sorry for being a noob) :)

    You're welcome.
There's no way to change the default saved file and folder names in ScrapBook that I know of. You can check the documentation to see if I'm mistaken.
    * http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/
The point of ScrapBook is to allow you to organize saved web pages into a collection, and to manage this collection within Firefox. The file and folder names may not be descriptive in Windows Explorer.<br>
This doesn't matter when viewing items in the ScrapBook manager, which lists the page title and URL it was saved from. Either click '''ScrapBook''' on the menu bar (hold down the '''Alt''' key and press '''C'''), or use the ScrapBook sidebar (hold down the '''Alt''' key and press '''K'''). To see what else ScrapBook and bookmark management have in common, see the help page:
    * http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/feature2.php?lang=en#Organize
If you want pages to be saved as soon as you open them, try the following add-on from a different author. It hasn't been updated in a couple of years, so I don't know if it works properly anymore (ScrapBook Autosave from the author of ScrapBook is even older and incompatible with the latest version of Firefox).

  • Make files available in Finder (or Windows Explorer)

    Hi,
I'm making a DVD and there is a gallery section on that DVD (a slideshow)
Now, I would also like that when I burn the DVD those files are also accessible in the Finder, or on Windows/Linux's file browser.
Is that in any way possible with DSP? I remember I did that with iLife '06's iDVD. Then there was just a checkbox to check, and it was all right.
    Any ideas someone??

Yep - it's called ROM Data.
What you do is click on the disc icon in the outline view (or graphical view background) and look in the property inspector. At the bottom is a section called DVD-ROM. Check the box labelled 'Data' and use the 'choose' button to locate the folder that you want to use.
The way this works is slightly obtuse - if you simply want files scattered all over the root of your DVD, with no folder structure, then point to the folder that contains the files. However, if you want to have a folder structure on the disc that keeps things neat and tidy, then you need to put your files into a folder (call it 'Contents' or whatever) and then put that folder into a second folder (call it ROM). In the property inspector choose the ROM folder. When the disc is built DVDSP will include everything inside the ROM folder at the root level of the finished disc. Therefore, you will get the usual VIDEO_TS and empty AUDIO_TS folders, and a third folder called 'Contents'.

  • Windows 7 Offline files behaviour - automatically making 'shortcutted' files available

I am a sysadmin with a few Windows 7 Professional machines in our network.
The current setup for our users is folder-redirection, with offline files enabled for users with laptops (some of which are said Win7 users).
This works fine, just, any shortcut files that are in the users profile (that are made available offline) make the target of the shortcut available offline aswell. Though I see the benefit of this, it is not a behaviour we want.
For example if user 'dave' has a shortcut on \\server1\users\dave\desktop, that points to \\server2\files\shortcut_target.doc (i.e. a directory we don't want to have offline file behaviour with) - it will make both files available offline.
I'm positive it is related to shortcuts, as the files are always shortcutted somewhere in the users profile and the majority of these files come from word's recent documents folder, and other similar folders for different program.
If theres anyway to change this behaviour please let me know, even if it is just a registry edit.
    Thanks Dan

    Hi,
“For example if user 'dave' has a shortcut on
    \\server1\users\dave\desktop, that points to
    \\server2\files\shortcut_target.doc (i.e. a
directory we don't want to have offline file behaviour with) - it will make both files available offline.”
Based on my knowledge, Windows only synchronous the shortcut in this offline folder. What do you mean “it will make both files available offline.”
For further research, I suggest you may enable sync log and try to repro this problem. Then move to Event Viewer -> Applications and Service Logs ->
Microsoft -> Windows -> OfflineFiles, right click SyncLog and chose “Save all event as…” to export these event log.  Here is my e-mail:
[email protected].  You could contact me, then
I would assist you for this problem.
Please refer following to enable SyncLog:
How to enable the "SyncLog Channel"
    ===========================================
Offline Files defines four event channels through the Windows Event Viewer.
The channels are listed under the following hierarchy in the left-most pane of the viewer,
Event Viewer -> Applications and Service Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> OfflineFiles
If you see only one channel in the event viewer it will be the "Operational" channel. The remaining channels are known as Analytic or Debug
channels. The Windows Event Viewer does not display these additional channels by default. They must first be enabled.
To enable Analytic and Debug logs, highlight the "OfflineFiles" entry in the Event Viewer left pane. Select the "View" menu and check the
option titled "Show Analytic and Debug Logs".
While four channels are defined, only two are currently in use in Windows 7.
    SyncLog Channel
    ================
This channel is of the "Analytic" type as defined by the Windows Event viewer. Because this is an "Analytic" channel, you must enable the
channel before events are generated to the associated log. To enable this channel, right click on the "SyncLog" entry in the left pane of the Event Viewer. Select the "Enable Log"
    option.
This may also be configured using the channel’s Properties page, also accessible through the Event Viewer. When you no longer want
to collect SyncLog events, disable the channel using the same method ("Disable Log" option).
The purpose of this channel is to generate events specific to synchronization activities within the Offline Files service.
This may be helpful when questions arise about why a particular item is or is not being synchronized or questions about why a particular
    sync operation is failing.

  • How to Synchronize Mac to Server to make file "Always Available Offline"?

In windows this feature keeps files available while on travel and automatically synchronizes on return when hooked up to corporate network.
    Is this available for Mac?

Hi I believe you have the wrong forum.
This forum is for the Agile PLM for Process product suite, not for the Agile A9 suite. For Agile A9 or Primavera questions, you can use Oracle Support, Support Communities, Yahoo Groups for Agile API or WRAU.
This forum is for Agile PLM for Process, which is part of the same Agile family but a different product.
    Thanks.

  • Why do photos I moved offline in PSE11 not have a preview file available?

I moved photos offline in PSE11 and now the photos all have a "missing" icon rather than an "offline" icon.  If I try to use them in a slideshow it says they are missing.  I know I can connect the hard drive they are on, but I used to be able to do this without connecting the hard drive.  I only connect if I wanted to edit.  I recently upgraded to photoshop elements 11 (prior was pse4!!)
thank you for any assistance you can offer.  I can not reconnect the files, as when I connect the hard drive it says no files are misssing.

Mytaxsite says exactly the same thing as Andromeda. You say yourself that you have moved the pictures to the external drive. Once they are moved it's obvious you can't access them from the internal drive.
There are two ways to 'move' the pictures : either from the explorer, outside PSE, or from the organizer. If you move your pictures using the organizer move menu, you ask the organizer to move the pictures, which it does, but it updates the new location at the same time. You have no 'missing' files to reconnect.
If you move outside of the Organizer, the new location is not updated and the paths recorded for each file in the catalog are wrong. In that case, all your files are 'missing' and the organizer can't find and open them. You have to 'reconnect' them.
"You may not know but PSE's organizer DOES NOT COPY OR MOVE FILES from its original location.  All it does is create the appropriate links to make these files available."
That's what is important. The organizer does not copy or move files on its own account, it does so if you specifically ask it to do so.
In other softwares, files are often duplicated into a location specific (often hidden and not accessible) to that software, but that's not the case with the organizer (same with Lightroom).
The organizer stores the path and many data present in your pictures files metadata, date, camera etc.
And what is important and may answer part of your original question, it creates and stores a thumbnail of your pictures to enable you to browse your catalog even if the media is offline.
If you don't see the thumbnails, it's because they have not yet been created (it takes some time to do the job in the background).
Connect your external 'offline' media, select the files with missing thumbnails, and choose 'update thumbnail' from the contextual (right click) menu. That should restore your thumbnails and make them available even when the media is offline.

  • Offline file availability

I just bought a macbook pro which i will be using in a windows environment at work. We are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 which is not supported by Snow Leopard. I currently keep all my files on the server in a personal account which only I have access to. On my old laptop (PC), I used to tick certain folders for availability offline. This meant that without an internet connection I could still access these files, edit them, and when I next went to the office these would automatically update the server files with these changes. I have not yet been able to find out how I can do this on my macbook. I am planning on running bootcamp with windows 7 whilst in the office, however, some of my personal stuff will primarilly be accessed from the mac osx platform while I am at home. I may however also want to access these files at work while working in windows, make changes and have these changes be saved to the same location as the fils I will access and edit in mac osx. The reason I keep everything backed up on the work server is for security (online back up), and because I own the company, and keep the files in a folder only accessible by myself so there is no issue with privacy. I recognise that the administrator could access these files but there is nothing there I would be concerned about.
I want to avoid having a personal folder on my mac hard drive and a copy on my windows hard drive with both just synching with the server when connected to it. I am concerned with two copies this will just eats space. Any ideas?

    Hi,
There isn't an Offline Files service in 2008 R2. You may need to install Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit).

  • Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email? So that the user can print it out.

Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email?
I'm making the book for children and there is one chapter providing coloring pages. So I wish to attach pdf files that allow users to download it at the end of chapter so that  they can print it out. Been searching through discussion, I've found some advice about taking screen snapshot page-by-page > then send the pics from photo album to email. However, I'm wondering if there's a way that make the process easier.

Warehouse that PDF on your own server, then link to it from your book.

  • Offline Files (Background) Sync makes File Explorer and other programs responding slow

    Hi TechNet,
I have a problem with Offline Files and
    especially with VPN users.
    For VPN users, the slow-link
policy is activated with a background
sync interval of one hour. But, when Offline Files is syncing, their File Explorer is hanging (not responding) by creating new files/folders, deleting files/folder, or rename files/folders. This happens only in their (redirected)UserData
folder or with other DFS shares which are cached locally. In other programs (Outlook or Office 2010) when they save data in the UserData folder exactly the same things happens (not responding).
This problem occurs in both the
internal network and via VPN, so bandwidth is
not the problem. When the sync is finished, everything is working fine again.
    I've tested:
    - Offline mode with scheduled background sync: problem occurs
    - Online mode with manual sync: problem occurs
    - Rebuild offline cache database: no effect
    - Tested with fresh Windows 8(.1) installations and user profiles: problem occurs
    - Monitoring SMB traffic with WireShark: no result
    - Montoring Windows 8(.1) clients with procmon: no result
    - Tested with full DFS paths: problem occurs
    - Disable IPv6: problem occurs
    - Disable Windows Search: problem occurs
    - Browsing in the Offline Files folder (Sync Center -> Manage Offline Files -> View Offline Files) is very slow (with +- 200 files). This occurs also when Offline Files is not syncing.
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Bas

      Hello Steven,
First, sorry for the late response, I have tested a few things for you:
Offline mode with background sync over a VPN connection: During scheduled sync File Explorer hangs. When bypass the cache by using a UNC path (State: Online) there is also a delay, but this is caused by bandwidth.
Online Mode with Manual Sync over a LAN connection: During sync File Explorer hangs in (redirected)UserData Folders (They are always available offline, maybe this is a problem?). With UNC paths, there is no delay…
The first folder/file is created slowly, but the second is fast.
    It's like csc
    still
    must initialize
    the cache…or something…
    I m  I made some
print screens, but I can not upload them because my account is not verified.......
    trT  Thanks,

  • 1013 File Adpter pick .pdf, .doc files and make it available in Worklist

I am using 10.1.3 version. I have a file adapter that polss on a directory and picks up any file dropped in the folder can doc, pdf. I have a Human Task that a user looks at a file and then APPROVE or REJECT or if possible make changes to a file too.
Now how do I pick-up a file using File Adapter and make it available in Human Task (Worklist). I did look at DocumentReview Sample but it accepts some URL as a parameter but in my case I want to have a file i.e. pdf, doc etc. How can I handle this. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Jasmin,
I can add the converted document to PDF as a attachment to the XDP form in the workspace.
I am strugling now with that envelope (the XDP), cant render it to PDF and than workspace enable it. I will have a look around the web because it will be there. One question is can I control permitions on the attachment? I want just read only permitions.

  • Anything Similar to "Make Available Offline" from PC environment

In my PC environment I have my laptop connected to my Windows Server and I selected key folders to make available offline. So while out in the field any changes I make are synchronized when I log back in at the office.
Is there anything like this for a Mac?

    chambrick wrote:

Yes, but they aren't integrated into the OS. You will have to set them up yourself. Here is a list of (mostly) freeware programs: http://osx.iusethis.com/search?q=rsync
MacOS X does have some scripting support for syncing folders. You can download a pre-build script: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/syncfoldersaction.html
or hack it up yourself: http://sites.google.com/site/andreatagliasacchi/blog/osxautomaticsyncwithfoldera ctions
There are also some commercial solutions: http://www.qdea.com/pages/pages-syncx/syncx1.html

  • In Forms Central, attempting to do file attachment, but "select File" option is grayed lout/unavailable - how do I make it available?

in Forms Central, attempting to do file attachment, but "select File" option is grayed lout/unavailable - how do I make it available?

Is it necessary that all the files are on the local hard disks? In the case of the laptop I could understand this if the laptop is also used outside the network, but the desktops should stay in place, no?
It could be as easy as to make a shortcut on all the computers to the samba-share and tell the inlaws that they have to use the samba-share to store their (shared) files.
You are correct about this but I doubt they would remember to use this all the time so I want to sync the folders just in case.
Assuming the laptop is always going to be in the same IP address when it connects to the network (which is unlikely in default configurations), you could create a script that checks for the existence of the machine on the network then perform a sync.  I had a script written in Python somewhere that would check to make sure the server side was up and run unison, but it could be modified to check for the laptop and copy files.  Let me know if that's something you're interested in and I can post it for you.
This sounds like what I'm looking for. Also I wander If it could be done by NetBIOS  name instead of ip address? This way It wouldn't matter.
The script sounds like what I'm looking for though
    Thanks for the help!

  • How to make files stored in APEX available to non-APEX user?

Our application generates a number of files that are stored within apex_application_files.
Some of these are to be made available to a non-APEX application. We intended to do this through a granting access to a view to the non-APEX schema.
In order to access apex_application_files you need to set-up workspace security, etc. This can be done (details are in this forum), but relies on querying apex_applications - this view filters the applications using 'USER'. Therefore, it will only return applications where the parsing schema matches the user making the query.
So... how can we make some files available to the non-APEX schema?

If making serious use of file storage in the database then the best approach would be to store the files in application tables rather than relying on apex_application_files. This gives you total control over security, storage, associated metadata and so on.
