Just downloaded Illustrator CC 2014 and none of the new features are showing up. Can anyone help? Thanks! I really need to figure it out so I can start using the awesome new features for Illustrator.
in creative cloud does it show as up to date? if not "Update illustrator"
if it does I would think about uninstalling illustrator and re-installing.

Free ways to make Kin more useful and entertaining
Reading through the forum, it seems most of us got the Kin because we did not want to pay for the $29.99 a month data plan. In that same frugal spirit, I don't want to pay for a Zune pass or any other kind of service that costs money. I was hoping that folks would share tips/tricks/sites that enrich the Kin experience for free or almost free.
Since, I live in a metropolitan area, I ride public transportation to and from work. This gives me almost two hours of unoccupied time for my Kin Twom to keep me entertained. I'm no techie. So please forgive my tips for being so basic.
So far, I have been enjoying audio books, movies, and music that I've downloaded legally and at no cost from the following sites:

I had hoped to stumble onto a way to enjoy streaming internet radio on the Kin. Alas, I only have found sites that let you call into a phone number and listen to a radio show. I don't have that many minutes to burn. If anyone has had success finding a site to listen to streaming internet radio, I would be glad to hear about it.
In the interim, I have found another good free and legal movie download site (http://www.archive.org/details/movies) that works with my Kin and Zune. The site caught my attention because it offers Night of the living Dead. This movie has always been in the public domain because of an omission by the film editors to add a copyright to the film.

Make iTunes more selective and moved iTunes folder

I would like to stop iTunes seeing some media on my computer system. (stored videos, sound clips etc)
Currently it finds and adds all media, even the smallest old video clip to its library and to the consolidated media folder.
This means it uses lots of space.
Is there a way to exclude files or folders from the scan to prevent this?

I moved my iTunes folder following instructions found here. (hence consolidated media folder, still required?)
This worked but I would be happier if the associated library files can be moved to the same location.
Currently they must stay in the original location.
Is there a way to do this please.1. There is no fine control over what gets added if you let iTunes scan your computer for media. My personal recomendation for this is to avoid the inital scan, change the default settings so that iTunes doesn't copy files to the iTunes Media folder, move existing content that wants to be in the library into the iTunes Media folder, then add the iTunes Media folder to the library. I prefer to organise my files & folders manually but usually recommend others to let iTunes do it as it is less effort.
2. By using the recommended method to move the media content you have created a split library. The library files are on one path and the media is at another. It is usually possible to move the library files to a new location provided the media stays put. Exact instructions depend on where you have moved the media folder to and what name you gave it. This post has further details but if you want to let me know where your media and library folders are now I can write something more specific.
N.b. if you don't get a response to a new topic within a day or two then it has probably been buried under new messages before being noticed by someone who might have a solution to offer. Once it is no longer within the first pew pages of topics it is unlikely to get spotted by anyone so your best option is to bump the thread.

My Windows 7 Pro went completely doo-Lally - I reinstalled the Windows 7 but I forgot to do anyting with Itune.
What I would like to know is, how do I get 2 playlists back into Itunes and then move audiobooks back into them.
As I said earlier, I have no backups from Itunes at all - I think I might learn a lesson from this

IPod volume needs to be more consistent and louder. Ideas anyone?
I am really impressed with the revolutionary achievement of Apple's iPod. Yet, I'm bothered by the difficulty of managing its volume.
Even with Sound Check turned on, there's quite a bit of discrepancy between the volume of older or classical recordings and newer, pop-rock songs purchased from the iTunes Store. I purchased and tried the "iVolume" shareware recommended in other discussions, but it has no effect on the "Protected" music files from the iTunes Store. The best I've been able to do is adjust individual songs with the volume tab in the Get Info window, and that's tedious and hit-or-miss, especially without some kind of volume meter.
Then, ever since an iTunes update introduced a volume limiter (to protect the eardrums of those headset users too reckless to care for themselves), I can't raise the volume of my iPod to match my car radio. Switching from the iPod to the radio produces a loud radio blast that hurts MY eardrums!
Has anyone discovered a fix for these problems?
Thanks.John, I've been there and done that. Allow me to repeat what I said in my question: turning on Sound Check does not resolve the issue.
Perhaps it works for you -- if all your music is within the same genre or of about the same age. But I have a somewhat eclectic library -- Pop, Rock, Country, Classical, Oldies, New Age, Easy Listening, Big Band, Soundtracks, etc., etc. With this mix, Sound Check has minimal effect.
Moreover, I still have the problem of being unable to set the main volume level high enough to be compatible with the car radio. This was not a problem with earlier versions of iTunes. It is likely that a code exists to unwrite the code that introduced the volume limitation. I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to do that.

I seem to be having a problem using the RegRead function within vbscript to return a simple value from the registry. When I run it on my workstation (windows 7 x64 sp1), it seems to miss certain registry values that are indeed there (specifically, I am looking

Does anyone know why this might be happening? The only main difference is that the machine that the script does not work on, has visual studio 2013 installed.

I am trying to get you t understand why what you are saying is wrong. You may have thought it worked but there were a number of things that make it impossible to actually work.
You were enumerating a remote key. You were using that key name with RegRead and it was looking up the local value. That is why it could not find remote keys and values. The local and remote machines will not match on all keys.
The correct call is the "GetStringValue" of the registry provider because it is the only call that can read remote values. My point is that you were fooling yourself by thinking that it ever actually worked. If anything it was just dumb luck
that the keys would match.
So maybe you weren't actually lying but you were surely foolingyourself and confusing us.
Anyway - glad you fixed it and just remember to not mix calls like you did. Also don't use On Error Resume Next unless you plan on test every call for an error.

So emailing large photos has never been an issue and all of a sudden I can only email photos, any photos at 100kb and I am not given an option to change this. Everytime I update my phone for "improvements" I just use the phone the same exact way and there are always the things I used the most that no longer work or the controls have been moved around so much you cant even find them. Same goes for Itunes. Seriously what is wrong with you people? do you beta test anything with the public ever?
Same here. Sounds like possible user error or user misunderstanding. It would be nice to know if this is specific to a type of internet connection or email provider.
OP, does this happen on cellular, wi-fi, or both? What email account are you trying to use? -
Can i make Illustrator Package as InDesign?

Is there any way to make Illustrator Package images and fonts as InDesign? I check out a script in Internet but the link is broken. That would be great!
Btw, I would like for the future that the link palette in Illustrator would be more functional...double click on the image icon and open it directly in the Finder and not having to make an extra step to look for the menu and then Open in Bridge. What do you think?

S.-There is a sample script that comes with Illustrator which will allow you to package the files together just like InDesign. The only downside is it does not package the fonts that are used. All you have to do is transfer the "CollectForOutput" script that is located in the Sample Scripts folder into the Scripts folder. The link below provides step by step instructions.

About the iPhone and it's "lack of basic features"
There are SO MANY rants going on in this discussing board about the iPhone lacking "basic features" of a cellphone. Here is my response to all of them at once. (I know this has nothing to do with user-to-user technical support, but the topic is discussed on here enough to warrant this post.)
Sure, I would like to be able to send texts messages to multiple contacts, I would love to be able to add my own ringtones, copy and paste, and picture message. Here's the deal, Apple didn't set out to create a product with those features, they didn't set out to create a product that is like all the others or that has all the best features that every other phone has. They started over. They didn't compare it to any other phone. They have said over and over that the iPhone is a completely new product from the ground up. Sure it includes some features that can be found in phones that came before it, but it's all done in a new way. It's not some super phone that combines the best of every smartphone out there. They were very open about this and listed EVERYTHING the phone was going to be capable of. No, they didn't tell you the things that it wouldn't do, that's not the angle they were taking when designing and marketing this product, no one does that. The iPhone does everything they said it would do and does it better than any other phone that has the same features. So how can anyone come on here a gripe about it lacking basic features? The features I listed above are features that someone else reading this may never need or want. Basic features to you are not going to be basic features to me. Basic features 3 years ago are not basic features today nor will they be in 3 years. There are no basic features when it comes to the iPhone, other then perhaps the phone part. When you set out to create a product from the ground up, you don't start with a list of features that need to be included. You start with a blank slate and build on that, from your own ideas, your own technology, not based on what anyone else is doing or what has been done in the past. This is what Apple has done, and they have been very clear about it from day one. So please, if you feel that the iPhone lacks the "basic features" on a cell phone, take it back so that someone else can have that phone and enjoy its "basic features," that are like no other phone before it.Your posting should have went to the Apple.com feedback section instead of posting it here in the user to user forum, this goes back to doing research on what the iphone can and cannot do before making the purchase you have to remember this is just the first generation iphone just like there was a first generation ipod most likely they'll be enhancements coming up for the iphone i myself am happy with my iphone, how many cell phones out there have visual voicemail?

I moved a bunch of my husband's files from his Macbook (which is dieing) to my iMac. I created a user for him on my iMac so he'd be able to keep his stuff separate from mine. All is working great except my Time Machine is now unable to backup. The total of used space on my hard drive (including the recently added user's files) is about 420 GB. The amount of capacity of my external hard drive is 999GB. I think Time Machine failed because there was all of a sudden so much more data and a new full backup would be more than the unused capacity of the HD? Regardless I don't need any old backups. I have all my files and all his files. So I moved all the backups from the external HD to the trash. Apparently that's a no no. I can't fully empty the trash now and that is making my iMac crazy slow.
1) Can anyone tell me how to force the trash to empty?
2) Is there a way to delete the whole external HD and start over with a new full backup via Time Machine? In Disk Utility I try to erase the partition and get an error "Volume Erase failed with the error: Couldn't unmount disk." Then I try to Unmount it and get another "Unmount failed. The disk Backup iOmega could not be unmounted. Make sure that all applications and files are closed on this disk." I turned off Time Machine and tried again but with the same errors.
The external HD is called iOmega. It only connects to the iMac with USB. Any help is much appreciated!!!!Try this instead:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. Select the backup volume from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
4. Click on the Erase button.
You will need to reconfigure Time Machine preferences for the backup.
FYI: Never remove Time Machine backup data except through the Time Machine application. If you aren't sure about using Time Machine then visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things related to Time Machine.
