Make link open in new window

Project Server 2010
When using the Links list on a project site, the link always opens in the same window, replacing the project site.  Is it possible to configure this list or an individual link, to open in a new window or tab?

Hi Mike,
It cannot be done by simple configuration, but some workarounds exist:

  • How can I use terminal to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0, How can I use terminal to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0

    In Lion, the default of pressing a link on a web page, is to open the page in a new tab. In itself, I do like this because this is what I did for 19 out of any 20 links, which I command+clicked in previous Safari versions.
    However, there is a snag to this behaviour. Most (all?) secure site do not like links to be opened in a new tab. For example, when I am doing Web banking, The the linked page doesn’t open in new tab. Rather I get a page telling me my login session is expired. Probably a security measure instituted by my bank.
    I since found out, that a command-click opens lings in the same window. Theoretically that solves the problem, if I would think about this all the time. I don't. Old habits die slowly.
    Is there a terminal command to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0.

    Hi Eric,
    I got it figured out today, basically you have to load the Parallel Flash Loader first into FPGA ram. It is a special .sof file (pfl_epXXXX.sof) based on your FPGA. Code is actually pretty straight forward, using the Sys Exec VI. Use the windows based programmer to generate the .cdf file that identifies your FPGA, attached Flash and .pof file .
    Syntax was odd going into Sys Exec. Note the extra "C" in in front of the "quartus_prm.exe" I have no idea why that was needed, but I was getting an error until I just happened to put it in there (Blind Luck :-))
    I used a 2 element array going into a four loop
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG -o P;pfl_epXXXX.sof
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG S_FPGA.cdf
    Defining the working director C:\altera\12.1sp1\qprogrammer\bin
    And added match string with "Successfully performed operation" on the output in the loop to make sure everything loaded correctly then adding the array to give me a overall P/F
    To anyone doing this same thing Altera's documentation is poor to say the least. It took most of a week to figure this out Not allowed to upload code, so anyone wanting details just post here and I will try to help. This was painful, with lots of lessons learned.
    Thanks for the interest though
    Best regards John

  • Title bar gets squashed when a link opens in new window.

    It doesn't happen when i click "open in new window" but only when I click a link that opens in new window automatically. The title bar gets narrower so the tab goes outside the screen. After minimizing and maximizing again it becomes OK. It's the same in "safe mode". I also tried creating a new profile but the problem still exists.

    This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Hi
    I used Ajax Autocompete in one of my applications. But after i click the link which uses ajax autocomplete, strange behaviour is happens with other links in Internet Explorer. The other links that are supposed to be opened in the same window now start opening in new windows. This does not happen in Firefox. can someone suggest a reason and a solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance

    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Why do links open in new windows, not tabs, even when that option is selected?

    Since update to v. 6 and now 7.01, clicking on links opens a new instance of Firefox instead of a new tab. In Tools\Options\Tabs. I have selected "open new window in tab instead" and it has no effect.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, while running in FF in safe mode may be doing the trick and thus implies an extension (though not necessarily), I haven't added any new extensions. So it is likely a problem introduced by FF since v. 6 or so. I suppose it could be that the extensions themselves need updating by their creators.
    Regardless it is all very time-consuming and frustrating, especially for something that one would think would be readily fixable.

  • RoboHelp 10 Skin Navigation Button - Link Open in New Window

    I'm using RoboHelp 10 and am trying to get the button in my navigation skin to open a link in a new window.  I researched this extensively and have not been able to get it to work.  Can you please assist?

    Is that link for some external website or some pdf file etc?
    When you create a button on a skin and ask it open a file it should do that in the web browser.
    If the link is for a website etc then it might give you the following link but you can still open the url in a new window by clicking on 'Open this content in a new window".

  • Links opening in new window instead of new tab

    I'm running Safari Windows 4.0.4. I would like to use multiple tabs within one browser window. However, while in one tab, if I click on a link, it opens a new Safari window. I want it to open another tab. I have the "open links from applications" set to open in new tab, however, I can't find a setting for opening a new tab within sarafi itself. I hate that it opens a new window. Anyone point me in the right direction so that it opens a new tab in the same window?

    Is there a way, then, that the Safari team could add an option to the General tab that would default the click-on-link behavior to be the same as CTRL-click? I'm certain that adding such a feature would be insanely easy?
    Great browser Apple ... really like it; but could you please fix this in a service-pack soon?
    Thanks!

  • Why does clicking a link open a new window with a spam site on it?

    Happens randomly I will click a link that I want open on new tab it opens but a random site will open in a new window. These sites that open are spam sites that I do not want. I have uninstalled deleted firefox and reinstalled it nothing is fixing this issue. My other computer has the same problem. Does not happen all the time its just random sometime i dont even have to click a link and a new window will open with dating sites poker sites just crap I did not want opened.

    Recomend getting adblock for firefox.
    if you still get unrelated links you should consider scanning for Malware on you computer (this could be an installed program or an extension). I would recommend Malwarebytes as it is somewhat free to use.

  • How to make link open in new TAB and not new window

    Mac users can do the following...
    http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-force-safari-4-to-open-links-in-a -new-tab-instead-of-a-new-window/
    how can this be done for WIndows users?
    Using Safari 4.0

    I'm not totally sure what you mean, because unless you are talking about not having to right-click a link first, that is prasisly what I do. the link you provided I just right clicked it & clicked on "open in new tab" ,& that's what it did.
    - But now because that was so easy to answer, I can only assume you mean not actually having-to right-click a link to open it up in a new tab. ,hope this helped.

  • Make your links open in new windows

    And before I forget... This was another thing I remembered during my internet outage...
    If anyone knows where the JavaScript is stored or generated for the pages, technically you could insert a small script in there that would allow you to then specify URLs for your hyperlinks that generate new windows.
    This is one way to write the script:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function open_window(url) {
    window.open(url,'toolbar=yes,location=yes,directories=yes,status=yes,menubar=yes ,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=800,height=600');
    // End -->
    </script>
    As long as that script is either in the JavaScript file for your page(s), then you can use the following as a way to specify a URL for a hyperlink that pops-up in its own window:
    javascript:open_window('http://www.website.com/');
    Hopefully someone else has found where the JS files are generated or stored because if we can alter THAT information, then we have a far greater arena of functionality that we could open.

    iWeb generate a JS file for an associated HTML file and put it in the page_files folder (e.g Welcome.html has Welcome.js in Welcome_files folder).
    The JS files can be pretty ugly as they are, so editing or adding something else to them is a last resort (as I did in the Photos.js files for slideshow).
    The alternative is add another JS file, but that requires editing the HTML file (adding the script tag inside head tag).
    In the end we almost have to edit the HTML no matter what.
    <!--<br>function open_window(url) ....
    BTW, that is pretty much how slideshow pop open a window. But there is no way to insert javascript functions with iWeb's Inspector.

  • Why does ctrl+Left click a link open a new window? It should open a new tab in the current window.

    When I try to Ctrl+Left click to open a link in a new tab, it will open it in a new window instead. Then while in the new window if I Ctrl+Left click a link it will open a new tab in the second window. If I then go back to the first Firefox window and Ctrl+Left click a link the second firefox window will pop up and the new tab will be created there. Why won't the Ctrl+Left click work when only one window is open?

  • Every link opens a new window even when this should open a new tab

    Lately, whenever I click on a link a new window opens (11 happenings of firefox just to get to this page). In options I have selected open new tab instead of new window. Deselecting or reselecting does not change this. Restarting firefox did not help either. Also for some reason if I click the dot button on the keyboard, I get the greater than sign.

    This issue can be caused by an extension or plugin that isn't working properly.
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How do I make hyperlinks open in new window?

    Hi, I'm using Acrobat X Pro.  I have a pdf uploaded to a website, and within that pdf are two hyperlinks to other websites.  Currently, if I click on the links, they open in the same window.  How do I make the hyperlinks open in a new window by default? In Acrobat X Pro, I tried editing the hyperlinks by right-clicking them and selecting properties, but I don't see an option to specify how the link should open.  Is this option available for web links?

    I think the best you can do is use the app.launchURL JavaScript method and specify that you want to open in a new window:
    // Script for link action
    app.launchURL({cURL: "http://www.example.com", bNewFrame: true});
    For this method's documentation, see: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.150.html
