Make links

Note: This post was moved from 'topic: Safari freezes Tiger.'
Hi
Sorry, I have a question from different topic...
How to make such a nice links on a forum like you did ?
It looks much better than writing adress of the webpage directly.
Can you tell me how to do this please ?

Wiktor,
You could always use Nvu and get free web page templates from various web sites. Just search on Google for "html templets". Here is one site as an example. The templates from these sites have place-holder text you can replace with your own and images that you also can replace with your own. The .Mac templates are built to be idiot proof, but there is little room for customization. Any templates you get off the Internet will take more work to create your own links to other pages and things.

In Lion, the default of pressing a link on a web page, is to open the page in a new tab. In itself, I do like this because this is what I did for 19 out of any 20 links, which I command+clicked in previous Safari versions.
However, there is a snag to this behaviour. Most (all?) secure site do not like links to be opened in a new tab. For example, when I am doing Web banking, The the linked page doesn’t open in new tab. Rather I get a page telling me my login session is expired. Probably a security measure instituted by my bank.
I since found out, that a command-click opens lings in the same window. Theoretically that solves the problem, if I would think about this all the time. I don't. Old habits die slowly.
Is there a terminal command to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0.

    Hi Eric,
I got it figured out today, basically you have to load the Parallel Flash Loader first into FPGA ram. It is a special .sof file (pfl_epXXXX.sof) based on your FPGA. Code is actually pretty straight forward, using the Sys Exec VI. Use the windows based programmer to generate the .cdf file that identifies your FPGA, attached Flash and .pof file .
Syntax was odd going into Sys Exec. Note the extra "C" in in front of the "quartus_prm.exe" I have no idea why that was needed, but I was getting an error until I just happened to put it in there (Blind Luck :-))
I used a 2 element array going into a four loop
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG -o P;pfl_epXXXX.sof
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG S_FPGA.cdf
    Defining the working director C:\altera\12.1sp1\qprogrammer\bin
And added match string with "Successfully performed operation" on the output in the loop to make sure everything loaded correctly then adding the array to give me a overall P/F
To anyone doing this same thing Altera's documentation is poor to say the least. It took most of a week to figure this out Not allowed to upload code, so anyone wanting details just post here and I will try to help. This was painful, with lots of lessons learned.
    Thanks for the interest though
    Best regards John

  • Where did the old left click shortcut go - to 'make link'?

Aloha, Please tell me if there is a way to make a link like there was prior to installing the 10.4.11 update.
Before i installed that update i was able to press control & click and the pop up menu would give me the quick option 'make link' from the link text i typed. Now, since i have installed the update, it is gone and some of my links don't automatically become links; in email they seem to but on, for example, myspace they do not.
Please tell me if there is a shortcut to get to that sweet, quick and easy old 'make link' option.

    But, Simon...
where is the link to mail?
I did use your link (as I have before) but nowhere on this page is there a link to mail. Is it hidden somewhere? Is it a secret? All I see are ads for using .Mac.
    This is what I see:
    • Tour .Mac
    • One-click web publishing
    • Photocast with iPhoto
    • Exchange files from anywhere
    • Communicate Apple style
    • Bring groups together
    • Stay in sync
    • Backup your life
    • How it works
    • .Mac in action
    • Membership options
Where the heck is Mail? And why did Apple decide to make it so difficult to find?

  • How do i make links open in a new tab

    Hi There,
Can someone please tell me how to get iWeb to set pages to open on a new tab when links are clicked.
Like when someone is viewing my website, I want the links in that website to open in a new tab within the web-browser when someone clicks on them. I know I can make links open in a New window but how do I make them open in a new tab.
    Thanks a bunch
    Jason

There is no HTML command to open windows in tabs.
Only these commands are available :
    target="_blank"
    target="_top"
    target="_new"
Opening a new page in a tab is decided by the browser preferences.
In Safari : Preferences > Tabs

  • Make link in e-mail

    Hello,
Haven't posted here in a long time because my mac has been trouble free....however, can somebody please tell me why I can't make a link in my e-mails anymore. I used to just copy and paste and then highlight and right click and it gave an option of "make link". I'm not sure which update caused it to disappear but it no worky any more.
I did a search and somebody had the same question but it was left unanswered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just copy and paste the url into Mail and it will be a hyperlink when you send the letter.
Make sure you inclose the link like this, in case it wraps. <http://www.000webhost.com/>

  • "Make link" in a textbox is not working

    Hyperlinks in text
When editing a text in a textbox one can mark a text that is a link (for example www.google.com), right click it and choose the option "Make Link". Then that specific text will be turned into a fully functional hyperlink with colors and everything, BUT only in the "edit text mode". In the layout in Edge will the hyperlink not work or even be seen as a link. And not in the browser either.
This must be a bug, isn't it?!
I've seen many post about really tacky ways to get hyperlinks in a text by coding and so on. These are typical "english" solutions because you never think about translations. Hideing text inside code is very bad programming when it is time for translation.
The function is there for makeing hyperlinks but it doesn't work. So where do we report bugs??

Are you sure you posted to the right forum?
There is no Make Link option for the text.
    Please clarify.

  • "Make Link"  What is it for in Safari?

Highlight the URL in Safari Toolbar (and Camino) and right click on the selection and the second item in the contextual menu is "Make Link"
How is this used and what's it for?
It does not appear to be documented?

    Thanks for the response.
I'm familiar with the typical Textedit use but it seems strange that someone would have inserted code for a menu item that doesn't do anything.
In TextEdit, and I assume applications using the same core technology, the feature of links shows up clearly in the same format. The Safari/Camino use of the term shows up in a different place so I assume someone had to be intentional about including it?
    Thanks.

  • How to make links in dynamic text?

    Hi All,
I need to know how to make links in dynamic text. I have
    created a
table to hold the dynamic copy, and the copy is added through
    a CMS page
that I created. This Admin page is accessed through a
    browser, and I
don't know how to attach a link to selected text within a
    browser. Can
anyone point the way? It's probably so easy I'll feel dumb.
    Thanks,
    Brett

    works for me.
The only other thing might be to use something like FCK (or
    one of the many
others... ContentSeed, I think is one Murray mentions often)
    for the CMS,
that would give an easier option for the end user. WebAssist
    has an
FCK-based plug-in called iRite that can give a more
    wordprocessing-like feel
to the field (i.e., they could just highlight the text and
    then click a
    button to add the link).

  • Where is the "make link" feature located after i download it?

I downloaded the make link add on, reset firefox and logged back online, yet when I scroll through all of my tabs, it is no where to be found.

I assume that it is in the right-click context menu after you have selected that link text with the mouse.
Did you look there for it?

  • How do I make links work in PDFs on ipad?

How do you make links work in PDFs on ipad?

I downloaded your "test.pdf" file. First I tested it on a Mac in Acrobat and the links worked fine.
Then I transferred it to my iPad and opened it in Reader 10.3. The links worked fine. When I clicked OK to the message I quoted above, they took me to the site in Safari browser.
It could be that you need to reset your iPad. Hold down the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time. Hold then thru the message about turning it off, until you see the Apple logo. Then let go.
    Relaunch Reader.

  • Where did "make link" go in Notes?

Is it possible to create hyperlinks in Mountain Lion Notes? My old links in Notes created in Mail under Lion OS still work but I don't see any way to create new internet links or to edit existing links. I can't believe Apple would remove this functionality so I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something!

Well, it's not a very intuitive location on Apple's part but at least it makes link text clickable. Do you know if there is still a way to create a clickable link from a keyword or phrase instead of only identifable link text?
    Thank you CaptFred!

  • Need to make links unclickable in a PDF

The company I currently work for is looking for a solution to a PDF issue.  Currently I know anything that looks like a link becomes a link when you open it with Adobe Reader or Standard/Pro.  I know there is an option per user to turn this feature off.  However they want a way to make a web address in a PDF not be able to be clicked.  So they want it to show in the document but have no way to click it.  Is there any work around to making this happen, short of making the entire document a image?  Thanks for the help.

With the link tool of Adobe Acrobat you can overlay a link which does nothing.

  • Embedded Flash video makes links stop working
