Make liquify a regular tool

I think you guys should rewrite the liquify as a normal brush in photoshop rather than as a module. This isn't the first time it lagged (see cs5 liquify slow forum entries).
It is nice to save the mesh, though, so it would have to be re-executeable. Also, it was nice when you could hold down the shift key and it would reexecute the last liquify mesh on the image (perhaps this was photoshop 7?) It save me a lot of time applying liquify to all my masks. Perhaps we could have a liquify again command?

I think what you are asking is not really plausible – if the transformations were applied per stroke (not unlike the Smudge Tool it would seem) the quality loss with subsequent overlapping strokes could get quite strong.
I think one of Liquify’s advantages is that the transformations are »collected« and applied in one go so that image-corruption is kept to a minimum.

After changing that setting and logging out and back in as it indicated, do you still have two menu bars?
If you are already set up that way and want to move the menu bar to the other monitor, drag it there in the Arrangement tab of the Displays system pref.

Make the Forum Search Tool useful

The current Forum Search Tool is nearly useless. Please add the following features to make it a functional tool:
1. Logical operators - i.e. allow the following searches: cow AND chicken, cow OR chicken, cow NOT chicken (or -chicken)
2. Quoted text to search for exact phrases - i.e. allow the following search: "my chicken says moo"
3. Results with date ranges - i.e. allow the following search: weird chicken, Results before 04/01/2012 or after 04/01/10 or between 04/01/2010 and 04/01/2012
4. Mix it up! "My chicken says moo" AND "purple chicken feed" -cow, results after 12/23/2012
5. Search in one forum only - i.e. allow the following search: "chicken says moo" ONLY in the "Farm Animal Behavior" forum
6. Search ONLY in posts (answers and/or questions) made by a particular user - i.e. allow the following search - "purple chicken feed" posted by user "Farmer Brown" ONLY
7. Do NOT include variations of words that you "think" might be "helpful". Right now a search for the word "running" yields results that contain the following words: running, run, runs. Weeding through all the useless
"helpful" results is a huge waste of time and makes it difficult in the extreme to actually find "relevant" results. HINT: There might be an actual REASON why we want to search for "running" and
NOT "run" or "runs".
8. Please make the default operator AND instead of OR when more than one search word is used. Adding more terms to a search tool should produce FEWER, MORE REFINED RESULTS instead of MORE, IRRELEVANT RESULTS. Very few people ever want
to search on a single word only. This is especially true in a technical reference environment!
9. Sometimes I WANT a word spelled exactly as I typed it. If I get results that I do not want because I misspelled a word, I can just retype the search. If you FORCE me to use your spelling, this makes my search completely useless. Please
give us MORE options rather than less!
10. Remove search result highlighting. We don't need the words we just searched for being blasted at us in highlighted bold.

my Pixi shows me the missed calls in a list of its own? I don't have many, so maybe I'm missing something. But I agree with your half-ranting to some degree. As a long-time Palm-user (my last phone was a Treo 680, terrible form factor, good UI), I am really disappointed with the standard software on this phone. Memos and Tasks, which AFAIK were there and useful even on the first Newton's, have regressed beyond the point of usefulness now (solution: Toodledo and Done!, at least for now).
But ChrisBell: if you feel up for it, you could start tinkering. Many people love these phones so much they have started developing patches to solve the obvious problems skimmed over by developers. Try looking up "webosquickinstall" and "preware", and you will find over 300 patches and a lot of free software to help you out. I am not a computer wizard myself, but I am not scared of them either, and I have been able to make good use of all these extras made available by the community.

How do I save changes I make in the developer tool

I am just teaching myself to build a word press website. I find many times that the IE development tool makes it much easier for me to make changes to the site and experiment with different things. My problem is one I make changes I need I always loss the
changes. Is their a way to save the changes I made so they stay permanent on the website I am building. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

I afraid you cannot save these changes with the F12 developer tool. You could copy these changes to an external editor.
Note The Changes tab will clear if you close the F12 developer tools, but the changes you made with
DOM Explorer persist until you refresh the webpage.

How to make a custom eraser tool using flash?

I did make a eraser tool. But once I begin to erase a layer, the background layer is visible. I want the layer just below the topmost layer to be visible.
For eg consider 2 layers.
Layer2 is above Layer1.
When I perform erase on Layer2, I see the stage background.
I want to actually see Layer1 when I erase from Layer2.

How do you make the fios optimizer tool work?

I still have the release candidate of windows 7 running on this computer, and every time I use the fios optimizing tool, it never works. I have made sure to use internet explorer in administrative mode, but still. It will say that my computer is now optimized, but whenever I run a speed test (in which I get speeds lower that what I should be getting) it will always say at the bottom next to the red X that I should optimize it to make it faster. How do I make this work?

Unless they changed it in the last couple of weeks the optimizer won't run on win7.

Make selection with pen tool?

In photoshop, you can create a path with the pen tool and then make that path a selection as if you'd used the lasso tool. How do you turn a pen path into a lasso selection in Flash (CS4)?

Essentially, any path that you drawn in Flash, that you want to use to make a sub-selection of your artwork, has to be pasted onto your artwork layer and the "outside" portion deleted.
Let's say you imported JPG into Flash of a house, and you wanted to remove the background. First, break it apart so that it's a fill. Then, it can help to draw your manually-drawn pen selection on a new layer above. Once you have traced the house/drawn your selection (making sure it's a closed selection) , copy the lines and paste that onto your layer of artwork. Click outside of the selection and delete the edges.
One could also decide to fill the drawn selection lines, and use that as a mask for the artwork.
Flash has fewer of the drawing tools than Photoshop or Illustrator. But even if this doesn't answer your question, there is a way to do what you want.

Install "Make" and other unix tools on 10.5

I am new to Macbook but accustomed with other unix computers.
I want to have unix tool "make" available on Mac 10.5.
Where can I download this and other tools? Are there pre-built binary distributions?

Macbook won't start up, CD drive makes noise on regular intervals

The computer itself turns on (power gets to it) but the screen stays black and the disc drive makes the noise as if I just fed it a CD, pulsating on regular short intervals.
I just had to get a new hard drive for the thing a few months ago. I have not dropped it or knowingly damaged it in any way.
I don't have any money, so I hope this is going to be an easy fix...

You can try a PRAM reset. Press the power button to turn it on. Press and hold RP+optioncommand. Release the buttons until you heard the second louder chime sound. If this doesn't work, then a SMC reset is recommended. Unhook the power cord. Take out the battery. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. Put the battery and the power cord back and start the computer. If this doesn't work, then you need to go to an Apple Store as it most likely could be a hardware issue.

ICloud: how to make it a useful tool?

I upgraded to iOS5 on October 12, probably to hastily. Now, the software is probably still in evolution, but as it is now it seems to me that it does not offer a useful tool as one expected from the big promotion from Apple. The main points are, in my opinion, the following:
1. I got 20 GBy of storage, but this is used only for documents which are produced under Apple software - i.e. iWork. I'm using only 0.3 GBy and this will be all.
2. access via my Mac is ackward, not "seamless". Only iPad and iPhone get easy access.
3. automatic sync is a nice aspect - like backup with time-capsule - but I would like to have more control, especially for documents which stored somewhere where I do not have direct access. I do not share the radical view of Stallman about "the cloud" but I start to appeciate some of his criticism about the limited control on the whole process.
Now, I would like to store ANY document in the cloud, my programs, my photos, etc. and decide which documents are free access to whom. This seems to be impossible at the moment. I'm keeping my dropbox account which allows me to easily share all the documents with my collaborators (and students). That's what I expected from iCloud. At the same time mobile.me shows rather serious malfunctioning. Syncing with iDisk is now problematic, contrary to statements (maintained to June 2012).
Finally, the new "System Preferences" on the Mac about iCloud is rather obscure, no clear info about the action to be taken. Rumors are that dropping sync from "documents" would erase the documents also on my mac. I dot not want anybody have automatic and anauthorised access to my files!
I expect Apple to improve the service - allowing access to iCloud with upload of any kind of software and sharing with third parties and taking any action on it only after explicit authorization on my part - otherwise I'll be obliged to cancel my account by next year.

Addendum: not only I can upload only documents created with iWork, but additionally I
have to upload them one-at-a-time. I have some 200 Pages docs. Are you kidding?
I hope Apple will be receiving millions of messages asking for a new discipline for iCloud,
more similar to Dropobox or Cloudapp, a merge of the best possible software. This is what
I expected by Apple. At present, iCloud looks like a toy for people having time to waste.
Anybody hearing at Apple? It hurts me to be polemic, but iCloud definitely looks like
an unfinished experiment, and Apple should listen, otherwise they are losing many
customers.
