Make master page editable in muse

There is one page from a master that i want to edit ie change the depth and i can only do it on the master which change them all - hw can i do this on this one page

Actually, to change the height of a given page there are two approaches that don't involve the master page.
1. Simply add content. Pages in Muse, like pages on the web, grow in size vertically when content is added. If you draw a rectangle in the middle of the page then drag it down the footer will move down and the page will grow to accommodate that.
2. Go to Page Properties and explicitly set a larger minimum page height. This sets the initial height of the page before any content is added. Setting this on an individual page overrides the value from the master page.

Impossible to enable master page editing

I'm in trouble because I have to create a custom Sharepoint 2010 Foundation template and i can't modify the master page of the team site. Now you will tell me to go to Site Collection Administration, then to Sharepoint Designer Settings and enable Sharepoint
Designer and Enable Customizing Master Pages and Page Layouts. Well...I have already done that. I have Full Control everywhere in the site collection and I am a domain admin, nevertheless if I turn on Sharepoint 2010 Designer it does not show Master Pages
in the Site Objects panel, neither can I click on Customize Master Page - it says that master page editing has been disabled. Any suggestions, because I am out of such... Thanks

Is there any other place where I can enable customizing the master pages, except for Site Collection Administration? Because this is the only place I know. And it does nothing. I have restarted the whole machine, not just IIS.
Yes there is. Look within Central Administration --> General Application Settings --> Configure SharePoint Designer Settings. Here, on a (web) application level you can configure: -
Whether SPD can be used
Whether SC Admins can detach paghes (unghost) pages from the site template
Whether SC Admins can customise page layouts and master pages
Whether SC Admins can view the URL structure of thier site

Is it possible to make master pages with several title in one file? & Can I define page range from which page to which should be specific title?

While the number of master pages is not unlimited, you can have quite a few in any file. I've never seen the limit documented, but it's in the hundreds, or more likely thousands. There is, I believe, a page limit of 9999 pages per document, but I don't know if that includes the masters or if they are counted separately.
You can choose a page range in the Pages panel, then assign a master to them manually, and I beleive there are some scripts floating around that can assign a master page based on the appearance of a paragraph style (for chapter start pages, for example).

Master Page Editing in Sharerpoint 2013

I want to add a Clickable image next to .
This is what I have tried so far;
1. downloaded seattle.html and seattle.master.
2. Renamed to seattle custom.html and tried to edit it, but the suite bar branding Delegate is not present in the Html file
3. Tried to edit seattle custom.master but got an error, This page cannot be edited, deleted or moved!
Moreover I could not find

neither in .html nor in .master page file
What could have gone wrong?

Hi Rana,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to customize the Suite Bar in SharePoint 2013.
Since the suite bar is designed as an out-of-the-box delegate control, you can create your own inheriting from it with Visual Studio, then deploy it to your SharePoint 2013.

Using Master Pages in more than one Muse site

Can I import a master pager from one Muse site into another so I can use it there without having to start the layout over from scratch?
And if so, then how?

Hello Angela,
You can do this by opening the master page from the source site, then use Edit -> Select All, copy and then go to the master page in the destination site, and use Edit -> Paste in Place. This will make the destination master page same as the source master page.

Text Flow from master pages -- please help!

I'm so frustrated. For years I used Quark without a hitch. Haven't done DTP in years (but use DreamWeaver (after GoLive died ) and Illustrator) but need to typeset my book in InDesign and cannot get the most basic things down. Please have pity!
I created a master page (facing pages) where each side has a rectangle frame tool. When I went to a document page I could not put any text in that frame, but finally found out that you hold down command-shift and click in the frame to "unlock" it or make it accessible when outside of the master page edit area. (Sheesh -- is that remotely intuitive???)
Now that I'm able to get the test in the frame on a real page, I can't get it to FLOW from one page to another.
Basically, I have an entire book and I just need to dump all the text into the template I've created. And I need ID to add as many pages as necessary (from the master page) for all the text to show up. This seems like it should be easy but I'm at a loss.
Any help?
After I get that to work, I need to be able to have the first page of each chapter use a different master page, because the look has to be slightly different. So any tips on that would be welcome as well.

While I agree that use of master text frames is usaully not desirable, you CAN do so if you wish, but if you expect to auto flow into them you MUST NOT override them onto the document page.
Instead, issue the Place command and select your text file, then hover the loaded cursor over the master frame area, being careful to avoid any margin, column or ruler guides, and hold the Shift Key and click. When you move over an empty frame you'll see the loaded cursor change so the symbolic text is enclosed in parentheses rather than having the right angle in the upper left corner. That's your clue that the eixiting frame will be used, and holding shift will caasue ID to make additional pages untill all the text is in place.

Can I copy a Master Page from one document to another?

Hi - this might be a basic question, but I haven't figured out the answer yet. I have one .muse site with a Master Page that I used... I want to use that same Master Page on another .muse site that I'm working on. Is there a way I can copy the Master Page from the finished site into the other one that I'm working on?? Any help is appreciated.

Hi Blair,
You should be able to do this by simply selecting (Ctrl+A) and copying (Ctrl+C) all content of the Master page of Site1 and Paste in Place (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V) in the Master page of Site2.

Master Page updated , but changes are visible only for that Page(site) alone ?

I updated v4.master in SharePoint designer to add a bread crum navigation control

I always thought master page edits will be visible in all sites of a site collection,
Am i going wrong some where (My site collection has about 30-35 sites, and new sites are created every now and then )

If the publishing features are turned on then the master pages for all the sites in the site collection are pulled from the master page gallery of the root site. But if Publishing hasn't been enabled then each site uses the v4.master in its own master
page gallery. It sounds like you haven't enabled the Publishing Infrastructure site collection feature and Publishing Site Feature in the root site of your site collection.

I have a menu item. with some subpages. Its placed in a master page, that the other pages are based on.. I try to scale it down, and the application shows the error box, and exits. (after i click ok, i believe it was)

Edit Page options in ribbon disabled after applying modified Seattle Master Page

Hi,
I'm working on a modified version of the Seattle.master page, and I have an odd permissions issue that is seen when my user (a farm admin) tries to edit a page on the site. On some pages, clicking Edit Page doesn't do anything at all. On others, I've been
able to go into edit mode but not do anything with the Edit options afterward. In this scenario, most or all of the useful edit options are disabled, and I cannot use Save, Checkout, Discard the Checkout, Change the Page Layout, etc...
Checking the JavaScript console in IE reveals this JS error that I don't see in the OOTB Seattle:
SCRIPT5007: Unable to set value of the property 'href': object is null or undefined

As you can see, I have moved the Ribbon (div#ms-designer-ribbon) from its fixed position outside of the div#s4-workspace to inside of the div#s4-bodyContainer so that it scrolls with the page. Placing the ribbon inside div#s4-bodyContainer shouldn't be an issue,
as I've made a Design Manager Master Page in the past and placed the ribbon there as well without issue.

Is there any custom JavaScript in it, sometimes error may occur due to some typo.
Suppose that we can do the customization like this: With a copied master page, we can apply a part of the change first, then check it in the browser to make sure it can work without affecting the OOTB features. Then apply other parts one by one with immediate
examinations...
By doing this, it would be easier to find out which step in your whole customization would cause the issue.

How do I make a shop page on my Muse website

Hey BC people,
I have built a website with Muse and have got my client to sign up to a BC account that suits their needs. I am wanting to insert a shop page on my Adobe Muse built website. From what I read I could drop a module (created in BC) onto the page and it would work. I built my inventory and placed the module code but I can't get it to display the content with on the page. in the shop http://luckwoodshop.businesscatalyst.com/luckwood-range
Here is the website http://luckwoodshop.businesscatalyst.com/index.html I'd like to have the 'store' page display the items, rather than link them via another button. Is there an easier way to build templates?
Is there a better way to do this? Should I export the site to DW and try and do it there?
I'd rather not use a BC template and I only want the shop module. Is this even possible?

I don't use Muse but from what I hear it's a good starting point but once you publish your Muse site to BC any edits you make on the BC server won't sync back to Muse and vice versa. So-- once you've moved the site over from Muse to BC you should start using BC/Dreamweaver to make future changes to your site.
To that end-- since you are now on BC and want to take advantage of advanced features not in Muse (ie- an online shop) you'll need to start using some BC methods like using sitewide templates.
If you don't have one already, you should create a default page template... basically, just take one of your pages created in Muse and copy the page source and then create a new Template on BC and paste in your code. Anywhere you have main page content, just remove it from the source and replace it with {tag_pagecontent} which is where all the page content like shop products and catalogs will appear. Then, make this site-wide template the default template and have your shop use that template and you should be all set.
On a side note-- you should optimize the background image for your website. Right now you've got a 3mb file as the background image in your link to index.html above. A lot of people are on tablets nowadays using 3g and you are essentially having them download a file the size of a full mp3 song just to see an image that isn't necessary for the site to function-- it's just for the experience layer so you need to make it smaller. For one thing-- if your image has a lot of gradients or colors (like yours does-- it has many gradients) and/or is going to be a high resolution image (like yours) you should be using JPG instead of PNG. JPG gives you more compression options-- try compressing that image to 65-70 compression which should get that image down to size in bits/bytes.
Your whole site is about 4.5 Kilobytes and 3 Kilobytes of that is that one image for the background so you should optimize it/update it to JPG.

Why is the tab being edited at the "master" page always in active state when i am selecting other tabs?

i am trying to create a basic mobile site with adobe muse. i have created a page with tabbed panels using the the tabbed panel widget and link each tab to its respective pages. let's call my tabs 1, 2 and 3. the linking are fine, but everytime i selected 2 or 3, tab 1 will also be in active state. the selected tab is with reference to the tab that is being edited at the "master" page, i.e, if i am editing tab 2 at the "master" page, tab 2 will always be active when i select tab 1 or 3.
i do not need this kind of confusion. can anyone help?

Hi,
This is an expected behavior of tabbed panel . When you add a tabbed panel in the master page by default one of the tabs is Active. So whenever you load the page, whichever tab you had selected in the Master page will always be active along with the other tab which you used as a link.
I would suggest you to use a Menu widget or a composition widget in order to avoid this.

Frequent crashes when editing master pages in FM 11

I've been creating new templates in FM 11.0.1.382, and am getting a lot of crashes when editing master pages. Like after every few edits, FM crashes either when I make an edit or save the file. Usually, it's the "FrameMaker 11 has stopped working" crash. Browsing the web I see that others are having this trouble too, and some have sent Adobe information about their crashes.
Just wondering if there's any way to fix this at my end. I'm on Windows 7.

A couple things to check. First, your patches aren't up to date -- current
rev is .384 I think, so you may want to roll that latest patch on board.
And second, it's possible there's a network permissions issue. I'd suggest
copying the template files locally and making sure that you own the files
with full permissions.
FM often crashes when it encounters an unusual network or permissions
problem where it doesn't know what to do, and from the symptoms you're
reporting, I think that may be a factor -- just a WAG.
