Make Messages app show names and pictures by default in groups

Is there any way to make the Messages app show names and pictures by default in groups? It's kind of annoying to have to set that every time. I'm hoping Yosemite may add this option.

It should stay set.
Should be this Menu item.
To get the options to be dark and usable then Messages window need to be "front".
The Buddy Names item above is for the name display in the Buddy Lists.
If it is not sticking then check that you have Read and Write Permissions to the com.apple.ichat.plist in ~/Library/Preferences.
Since Lion this Folder has been hidden.
Use the Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder and copy and past the ~/Library/Preferences
FInd the File then Right click it and chose Get Info.
In the info Panel, near the bottom, your shortname should appear with (me) next to it.
You should have Read and Write permissions.

I would like to ask if there is a way to make Maill app show prefix and suffix in the address field.
This is, in my culture, very important, especially for formal situations. When I call someone such as professors, bosses, I should put prefix after their names to show my respect. In Microsoft Outlook, there is a field called 'Display as'.

Therefore, I can choose how the name will be shown in my messages. For example, Prof. Kim instead of Kim. However, as far as I know, there isn't such options in Mail app. Is there any way that I can modify the way of displaying names in the address field in Mail app?

As far as I can determine, that is only how you see the email address, not how it is sent.
You can set up Prefixes and Suffixes in Contacts using the Add Field submenu of the Card menu:
If you use the Edit Template... command, you can choose to always have the Prefix and Suffix show on new cards.
However, I don't think Mail uses anything but First, Last for addressing emails.
You can override the behavior by manually with:
Prefix First Last Suffix <[email protected]>

AirDrop showing the wrong name and picture with iOS 7

AirDrop is showing the wrong name and picture on my wife's phone....It is showing my name and picture. She has an iPhone 5 and I just updated her to iOS7 about an hour ago, same time as I did mine. Is it because we are connected with the same Apple ID and if so, how do I fix it? She is annoyed by it and not seeing where I can change it in the settings is beginning to annoy me. Help!

I don't think that's the issue. I'm having the same problem. My wife, my son, and I all use the same Apple ID, but we have different email addresses and phone numbers for facetime and imessage (we've never had an issue with imessage or facetime). Today, I updated my phone and ipad to ios 7 and tried to experiment with airdrop. On both devices it showed my son's name. Then my son updated his ipad and we tested airdrop again. His ipad shows up on my phone and ipad with his name as well. The email address that I use for Apple ID is not associated with him on any device. His name is not listed on our Apple ID account. One of them shows his photo that he uses for his facebook profile, but the other's just have a gray circle with his first initial. I'm hoping it's just a bug that will get fixed soon, but if anyone knows a fix, please share.

Only synch names and picture, no addressess or phone #

16GB iPhone 3G, Vista, Outlook 2007. On synch of contacts from phone back to Outlook (new install), only the names and pictures of contacts are transfered to the computer from the phone. Any ideas? cant seem to figure out what I am missing.

All my songs, app's, videos and pictures are gone in iTunes Help?

I wanted to sync some songs in my iPod touch 4G then I realized all my songs, app's, videos, and pictures are gone. Now I am unable to sync any songs, all my other songs are in my iPod touch and I am using a windows 7 computer. I have tried authorizing and deauthorizing my iTunes there's still no chance of hope. I am very worried about this please I require your help.

Last week I did not have this problem, but today I am having it again. Nothing has changed except that I updated the feed last night/early this morning. Is there any explanation why my episodes keep disappearing en masse from iTunes?

The whole idea to an icloud account is that one user uses it and has all their devices synced together. Different users need different Apple IDs to create their own icloud accounts. Note that everyone can still use the same ID for an iTunes account (to share purchases).

The Flash will not likely be able to load the file from your harddrive if it is on the server... hopefully your browser would prevent any online file from being able to access files on your harddrive.
You will know if the file is dynamically loaded or not if you physically placed the flv contents into the Flash files (manual) or you just provide the name of the file for the Flash file to load (dynamic).

IE can't be uninstalled. It's part of the operating system and cannot be removed. You can hide the icon but the engine is still on the machine and still must be updated.

Of the two browsers, my personal preference is Chrome over Firefox. Firefox's add in model is too prone to developer insecurity.

Messages.app shows phone numbers instead of names

Can anyone help me configure Messages.app to show names instead of phone numbers (for iMessage/SMS)? I'm running OS 10.10 Yosemite and my contacts are synced from iCloud. Both my phone and mac are set to the same region and language.

Please try each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
Step 1
From the Messages menu bar, select
View ▹ Buddy Names ▹ Show Full Names (or Show Short Names)
Step 2
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Language & Region
From the Region menu in the window, select one of the preset regions. If one is already selected, choose a different one, then change it back. Close the preference pane. Quit and relaunch Messages.
If you still have the problem after taking those steps, post your results.

Message app shows my contacts numbers instead of their names when I get a notification for a new message

As the title says, whenever I receive a new message there's a notification in the corner of the screen. The issue is it doesn't show the name of the contact, but the phone number instead. However when I'm on the window where all the conversations are I can see my contacts name and the conversations are listed by their names. Does anyone know how to fix this ? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

The answer did not resolve my issue. Contact name and picture not showing up.

When i am receiving a call, the contact's name nor picture shows up. Their ringtone also does not play. Can anyone help me out on how to solve this problem? PLEASE!!!

Sounds like you have multiple entries ! ie more then one contact with the same number (so the phone doesn't know who's calling) You may have John, John Smith, John Mobile etc all with 123456 as number, all the same person,but phone won't realise so just shows number. Also in Contacts -options-settings, make sure you only have one source in use , best to use phone memory.
As for ringtone check your profile settings (if you mean a specific ringtone for a specific contact, removing the multiple entries will resolve it !)

Images sent to and from the Message app show up Black.

When I am sent an image or I send an image in iMessage or as an MMS I can see the image when it's hits my phone or iPad but once I press it to open the image it's black. That's happening on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 (both running on 5.0.1 I have yet to update to 5.1). I cannot seem to get any image sent via iMessage or MMS to show up. I see them fine in emails and whatsapp but not the Message app.
Anyone able to advise on this?

I guess I was expecting to talk to people that new what they were talking about. All I did was ask a simple question and got nothing back from you that would solve the problem. Sorry but your sugestions did not help me. I'll wait to see if I get any other feed back. Don't get me wrong as I do appreciate your input, but it's not solving my problem. Why is apple making it so hard to get into the memory of this one app? I have never had a phone that I could not access all data until I got an iphone.
