Make more i-movie films one Dvd

I am thinking of buying the new i-life package, but I am scared that my hardware is not able to edit a longer film, so I wonder if it is possible to burn more shorter sequences to one dvd and it plays all of them as one film? I experienced with i-movie 6 that after 40 min of video the sound did not work proberly! I will not miss the new possibilities but neither buy a new computer!

Welcome to the forums.
If you are asking whether iDVD6 can play multiple movies automatically one after the other -- the answer is no. Can iDVD09 do it -- I have no idea. Roxio Toast definitely has this capability.

  • 2 movies in one DVD

    Hello!
Is it possible to have 2 separate movies on one dvd? I would like to have 2 small movies, each with it's own chapters made in iMovie. How can I do that?
    Thanks for your help...

After you get into iDVD with your first movie in place, you can then go get the other movie from your hard drive and simply drag and drop it into the same iDVD window your current movie is in (avoid dropping it on those little drop zones that are meant for menu photos and movie snippets). You may get the second movie showing up as a separate folder you have to pick to get to the "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection" buttons, but those buttons can be cut and pasted back up on the top level and the folder removed. You can also rename the buttons so both your movies are not labeled as "Play Movie".

  • Movie film to DVD

Is there any way to transfer super 8 movie film to DVD. I have literally thousands of feet of movie film that I want to transfer so even at $.15 a foot I can not afford to have it done "commercially". I am willing to sacrifice quality if need be.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Well, I have a really labor-intensive way to do it...but the results are pretty good.
I have a GAF model 788 projector, which has a sprocketless drive, an inching knob, and a reflector lamp mounted at a right-angle to the film plane, with a small front-surface mirror right behind the gate. What I did was to remove the mirror and the lamp from the projector. I stuffed a daylight-balanced 40w vanity light into the lamp holder (using a socket and cable I bought at a hardware store) and replaced the mirror with a piece of white styrene plastic. I attached a 3" slide projector lens to the front of my camcorder lens, and lined everything up. I connected the camcorder to my PowerBook and used a frame capture program to capture frames at 720x480. The camcorder is focused (via the three lenses) directly on the film in the projector gate. I captured frames on the PowerBook and assembled them as a QuickTime movie at 18 FPS. I'm not sure if iDVD can handle a QuickTime movie with an oddball frame rate or not, but I also have Avid Xpress Pro, so I can use that to change the frame rate to 29.97 FPS for conversion to DVD.
I'd put together a web page detailing the process, but it's kind of hard to take pictures when my camera is the subject of the photo.

  • Burning multiple movies to one DVD

I want to burn 8 short movies to one DVD. Do I have to use a DVD RW or is there a way to burn all 8 to a DVD-R?

You probably only have a single-layer drive so you
will be limited to a maximum playing time of about
120 minutes in Best Quality mode. We recommend
Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for single-layer discs.
BTW, iDVD compresses everything to mpg-2 so the
playing time of your content in minutes is the
important factor - the size of your original files in
    MB doesn't come into play.

thanks for the tip on type of DVD, but my immediate problem is that when I burn to a DVD, I can only do one movie. I am looking for a way to select all of them vs 1 at a time. I tried the advanced & edit DVD contents but I still have the problem that the program will only burn one movie at a time & then because it is DVD-R, I can't add another. I need to be able to put all 8 on at once (or at least one after another). Is there a way to "combine" them for burning?

  • Burning Multiple Movies to one DVD in Premiere Elements 7.0

I am compiling a series of movies which I shot of the first year of the lives of my grandchildren. Each is a separate movie, about 10 minutes long. I would like to burn all of them onto one DVD - how can I do that? The burning option seems to be available only for the movie open when I click on Share.
    Many thanks.
    Walter

    Walter,
As Paul_LS states, the movies need to be combined in PE (or another editing program) due to the DVD-specs. They allow only one movie (in your case the combined Projects) per DVD disc. There are a few programs that can "hack" the DVD structure, but they are a lot of work, and usually do not yield the results that the user is seeking. This is not a limitation of PE.
You can also place your DVD Markers to the start of each of these movies, to all navigation in the DVD to each, should you wish.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Burning 2 quicktime movies onto one DVD using iDVD

I wonder if you could help me.
I have 2 Quick time movies - created in FCP - one hour and 10 mins each . Is it possible to put both on one DVD using iDVD? (one is the front view and other side view of a performance).
I have version 5.0.2 iDVD and am burning on desktop G5
Both movies have chapter markers (created already in FCP)
Is it possible to do this and how do I do it using the right menu and proper theme etc- and right method of importing or loading the movies.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

    Hello Nan,
a Single Layer DVD can hold a maximum of 120 min of video (incl. menus), so either you burn 2 SL DVDs or try to put both movies on a Double Layer DVD, provided you have a burner capable of writing DL DVD.
how do I do it using the right menu and proper theme etc- and right method of importing or loading the movies.
I suggest you have a look at this tutorial by Ken Stone: Authoring with iDVD 5

  • Combine Several Movies on One DVD with iDVD?

I have a couple of slide shows I made in iMovie, and I have a DVD that has a video_ts file on it. Can I put the two slide shows and the video_ts movie all on one DVD as long as there is room? I so, I would need 3 menu choices. Can I do this with iDVD?

Here's how to do it with Toast 8. Insert the DVD that has the existing video (or place the VIDEO-TS folder on the desktop if it's on the hard drive rather than on a disc). Choose DVD video as the format in the Toast Video window. Choose DVD with the top button of the Toast Media Browser. Double click on what appears in the browser. You'll see a thumbnail image of each title on the source DVD (which may be only one title in your case. Select the title you want and drag it to the video window. Toast then extracts the MPEG video file from the DVD or VIDEO_TS folder and writes it to the Roxio Converted Items folder.
Now add your other videos. You probably can use the Media Browser for this as well by choosing Movies with the top button.
Arrange the titles the way you want in the Video window. Click on the thumbnail to scroll to the image you want to appear in the Toast menu. Edit the text the way you want it to appear and select the menu style and how you want the DVD to play (do you want it to go to the menu first or auto play the first title; do you want the titles to automatically play one after the other or go back to the menu).
I suggest choosing Save as Disc Image from the File menu when you think you have it the way you want. When the disc image is finished, mount it and preview it using DVD Player. If all is good, burn the disc image file using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. If it isn't what you want, continue to refine it in the Video window and choose Save as Disc Image again.
By the way, Toast automatically empties the Converted Items folder when quitting unless you change that in Toast Preferences. You don't want that folder emptied until you have your final DVD.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • How can I get 20 different movies onto one dvd and have them play consecutively?

I am having a hard time converting all of the videos I've taken of my kids from my iphone onto a dvd. I would like the videos to play consecutively as if we were watching home movies from our regular video recorder. How can I convert my videos to one dvd?

If the total playing time for all of the videos is less than 120 minutes create a slideshow in iDVD and add the movies to it in the order you want them to play.  Select any slide duration time except manual.  Do not add any music to the slideshow as it will override the audio in the video files and do not add any transition as it won't be a smooth transition.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • ?? burn multiple iMovie movies onto one dvd with iDVD

I understand how to burn a single iMovie project onto a dvd by using the share menu to share with iDVD. But how can i burn multiple iMovie projects with iDVD onto one disc??

You can share the first movie from iMovie, but all the others will need to be exported from iMovie as movies and dragged into the iMovie project.

  • IMovei '11 .mov films into DVD Studio Pro 4

I am in the process of moving from iLife to Final Cut Studio Software. I still have some movies in iMovie '11, which I want to burn on DVD. As iDVD is in a non-workable state on my Mac I want to use DVD Studio Pro4. I export the movies using the "Export using Quicktime" option as DVD Studio Pro claims to be able to import any Quicktime movie. However, when I try to import, I get the message that the format is not supported.
Surely there's something I'm missing here. Can anybody shed some light on this matter?

    DVD SP does't do Blu-Ray.
If you have time to kill, do a search on the forum for hours of entertaining reading on this subject.
To create a DVD, use Compressor to generate the m2v and ac3 files needed by DVDSP to author a DVD.
Again, a search of this forum will turn up hundreds of threads - most of which are restating the process for authoring that is spelled out in the manual.

  • Combining 2 imovies to make one dvd

    Wondering how!
Combine 2 iMovie projects with bookmarks to get one DVD should I
copy and past one imove into the other? (will it retain all bookmarks?)
    or
can I make 2 iDVD projects and combine them into one DVD to burn some way?
If anyone has doen this easily I love to know.
    Thanks

    Arnolfo,
You can easily have more than one movie on a single DVD.
The iDVD button in iMovie is just a short cut to get a project going in iDVD.
If you want to add multiple movies to one DVD, it may be easier to launch iDVD first and then add the movies to the iDVD project.

  • Make page content move when pages added/removed? CS4

    Indesign CS4
Is there a way to make page titles move to one side of a page or the other depending on master page (or some other method)? I have a catalog document that has a page title on the top-left of the left page and on the top-right of the right page. If I add or remove a page, I have to move all of these to the appropriate side of the page by hand (a left spread page is now on the right, and I have to move page title block to other side manually).
This would save me a bunch of time. Hopefully this makes sense.
    Thank you!
    Patrick T.

Use Anchored Object (custom) and make it relative to spine. (Object > Anchored Object > Insert or see instructions from help)
Or even more easier, use page wide textframes for your titles and set their allignments toward or away from spine...

  • How do I know if it will fit on one DVD?

So I am working on a DVD project (My first one) and I have about 12 movies that are about 20-25 minutes each in .avi format. The total size for all of these movies is about 3.07 GB.
How do I know if iDVD will be able to fit all of these movies on one DVD? Does it go by the 60min rule regardless of file size, or will all twelve movies be able to fit on one DVD? a DVD golds 4.7Gb of information right? So it should fit theoretically, but it is almost 3.5 hours of video.
Is there a fill bar or something within iDVD that can estimate how much space I have left for a DVD based upon the images, menus and movies I add to a project? I dont seem to find one in the iDVD project window and the Help file did not turn anything up.

The size (MB or GB) of the input files doesn't matter to iDVD. What matters is the length (in time).
iDVD renders/compresses/multiplexes your video into MPEG2 format which is the format of a playable DVD. With a single-layer DVD you can fit up to 2 hours of content (video, titles, etc.); with a dual-layer DVD you can fit up to 4 hours of material. iDVD will make choices of how to render your video depending on your quality choices in iDVD Preferences.

Thanks for your help!  Yes I've got FCP X....;) But I'm asking now myself: Do DVD Studio Pro and Toast work with FCP X? Of course, I can import normal files, but I think, that I'll loose a lot of quality, if I don't export files directly from FCP X right?
