Make my system slow after sync...

After I installed software update (Magic Trackpad support) in my 2.93 GHz/4GB Ram macbook pro, after I plugged my iP 3G and sync with itunes, my whole system will slow down , even I switch other windows / programs even click the tools bar, it will appear color wheels. and the sync progress takes 2-3 times long than before.
Even I ejected the iphone and unplug it, the system still slow and jitter, Is anybody have the same problem ? and how to fix it ? thanks

Have you checked activity monitor to see if any apps or processes are takin up a large percentage of the CPU?

Even if they are not a big problem, can anyone tell me how to get rid of the Palm and HP startup items. They are from old devices that I do not have anymore, and I would like to eradicate them from my system.

Startup items are in /Library/StartupItems/
You can delete them if you are an admin user. However it doesn't remove the actual software. The safest way to do that is to either use the manufacturers uninstaller or try to find uninstall steps listed on a forum or support site.
I'm inclear on 'Oplmgr' check that is up to date if you can, since it is using the old way to load a startup job.
Palm desktop is probably version dependant (check what you have)…

Soundflower looks out of date? Grab the installer (with an uninstaller IIRC) and update or remove it.
LogMe In, TeamViewer & Splashtop are running jobs in the system level too, so I'd spend time checking they are up to date or removed if they are not needed.
The Launch Daemons and Launch Agents are 'system level, with your own user version too - User Launch Agents.
I would clean out the failed background job…

Use the Finders 'Go Menu > Go to Folder…' to open the hidden ~/Library & look in the LaunchAgents folder for the .plist & delete it.
Reboot for the Startup items to be unloaded.

Ecc6,Oracle10.2, Unix, System is slow after patching the application server. Will there be any problem in the patch or itu2019s because the server has been restarted. If the second one is the case how long it will take to come to the optimal performance?

Iphone 3G makes duplicate contact entries after syncing. I went from about 125 contacts to 1,965. Some contacts are duplicated 30 times! I tried deleting the info and resyncing it. Same problem. Not using mobile me. Syncing with google account.

and i guess i should mention i bought it at best buy and they ported my phone #'s from my google phone and when i got home i sync'ed it with itunes and it doubled my contacts.

System slow after update tu mountain lion

I just update my 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5 4 GB MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion but the hole system became too slow. Is there any suggestion to resolve the problem?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

System slows after 1-2 hours

Help someone. I've installed Leopard three times, and even after the latest update 10.5.2 this problem is still persisting. The software installs without any trouble, all is well. All my software works perfectly and at the speed I would expect. I leave the machine for a few hours then begin some more work, it turns into a dog....cursor is erratic, when you type anything either in entourage or in word there is a huge delay. The mouse and cursor take a very long time to be effective. Not sure what can be done, I was hoping that this last update would fix this problem. I'm now back to using 10.4 until I can get this sorted out. Any help would be appreciated

It's clearly not Leopard. Something is wrong with your system - hardware most likely.
Updates do not fix individual problems such as yours, only general issues and security items.
I suggest running the Activity monitor and watching the CPU usage as it slows down.
It could be a bad HD or some thermally related problem. Leopard stresses the hardware far more than does Tiger, so if something is merely marginal with Tiger, it could show up in Leopard as a major problem.
I would guess RAM. Leopard is particularly tough on RAM, and if your RAM gets hot and some of it stops working, then your HD takes over, which, of course, would slow everything down.
The Activity Monitor will show RAM, RAM usage, HD usage, CPU usage, etc.
If you have reinstalled Tiger, then this whole thing is moot. You might install Leopard on an external drive for testing purposes, otherwise there is no way to diagnose anything.

recently added a 160gb 7200.9 seagate for more storage space but the system is slower now than before.
amd64 3200+ stock speed

nec 2510a dvd-rw secondary master

windows xp + sp2
latest drivers for both motherboard and gfx card from nvidia.
latest bios, v1.3.
if i unpack a rar archive from the hitachi to the seagate i get serious slowdowns in both windows media player and the tv-card software.
if i play a game installed on the seagate the computer basicly stops when loading data, even in games that used to run good from the hitachi.
i have had some problems when browsing with firefox 1.5.0.1 due to lack of cpu power.
installed nvidia sw-ide driver and it helped considerbly but i still get slowdowns.
these are problems i never had before i put in the seagate.
i have no problems with corrupted data and i have not tried changing sata port, its in number 3/4 now.
the harddrive is configured as one big partition with ntfs filesystem.
also noticed it takes along time to access the seagate the first time in a new explorer window.
when i click on the designated letter the explorer locks up for 5-10seconds and the hd-led is active and then i can se the content of the harddrive.
if i move a 700mb avi file from the hitachi to the seagate i can se in taskmanager that the process "system" consumes 45-70% of cpu power.
if i move the same file to the ibm harddrive instead the same process never goes above 7%
any ideas of what it can be and what i can do to fix it ?

its not a psu error thats for sure.
the computer is 110% stable and is 110% stable with a 25% oc on the cpu and a 20% oc on the gfx card which pushes the psu quite far.
its all at stock at the moment.

Everything was fine until I upgraded from 10.7 to 10.9, now runs like a dog.
It'll work for a few seconds, and then stops for twice as long with the BBOD, then it comes to life again.

It's probably:
Virtual Box
Logmein (note the failed launch agent, which means it was incompatible, and that it loads a ton of background processes)
and Perian isn't supported by the developer anymore.
The Google keystone daemon is known for slowing down macs with excessive phoning home. See HOWTO: Remove Google Software Update on Mac OS X - Raam Dev
I'd uninstall those for starters.
And I'd get rid of as many of the other background processes as you can.
4 GB of RAM is probably not enough with all this stuff running all the time, particularly with emulation software. You can never have too much RAM.
A quick way to test this theory is a safe boot: (restart, hold down shift until you see the Apple logo). This does some diagnostic testing and then starts up without third-party added on software.   Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

System slow after yosemite installation

I have a mid 2013 MacBook AIr. recently 'upgraded' to Yosemite and since the installation I have noticed a significant slow down of my OS. it's like there is something running in the background eating up all my memory. Is there something I can do to fix this issue?

It is true that the only way to sync your Mac with iCloud is to upgrad. You need to be running OS X Lion 10.7.2 or higher in order to sync your Mac with iCloud. I have a macbook pro 4,1 early 2008 model running on 10.6.8 snow leopard was wondering if upgrading to moutain lion will make my system run slow?

MBP 4,1 running 10.6.8 snowleopard and it runs great but i was wondering if upgrading to moutain lion will make run slower?

Lion is still available but you have to Call Apple to order it and then they send you a Redemtion Code to your Apple ID Email address that you use on the Mac App Store to download it.
But in all honesty even Lion is going to make your system run slower then it now does. Lion, like Mt Lion, uses more system resources then Snow Leopard. I can see the difference on my 2011 MBP with 8GBs of RAM and a fairly fast hard drive. Snow Leopard boots and runs faster then Lion and more so then Mt Lion.
What you need is a New or Newer MBP. If that is not an option then the only thing I can say is give Lion a try. That is AFTER you do a complete Time Machine Backup of your current Snow Leopard install just in case you need to go back.
By the way Apple replaced the Logic board in your system with the same Faulty NVidia chip install in it. Apple Never Updated the NVidia chip used on those logic boards. So odds are sometime in the future, Near or Far, that board will fail again.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

System Slow-Down After Printing

I recently installed Mountain Lion. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed a significant operating system (10.8.2) slow down after printing with my Epson R3000 printer. This happens after every printing session. When I say slow-down I mean significant delays and dreading "beachballs" when opening applications, selecting menu items or anything else I should choose to do. I'm left with re-starting the computer to get going normally again.After re-atarting I have gone to "verify permissions" and I get approx "5" pages of permission errors, all associated with the printer library in some fashion or another. I then repair all those permissions and re-start my MacPro. The operating system then works as normal and I can use the computer with no problems (until I start printing again). I mainly use the computer for photo editing with Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Lightroom 4 and Aperture 3.2.
I did not have this problem before upgrading to Mountain Lion (and then to 10.8.2). I did not get "significant" permission errors before upgrading. Since all printer drivers for this printer are handled now by Apple via the "new" Software Update process I can't even re-download the Epson printer driver and start over. I'm completely at a loss as to what, associated with the printer function, is causing these "significant" permission errors and subsequent operating system slow down. My printer is almost brand new and was working flawlessly before Mountain Lion. Let me be clear though, I can print fine. My problem is the system slow down after using the print function which I am only guessing has something to do with the "5" pages of permission errors after printting photos (with CS6/Lightroom/Aperture).
Incidently, I am not in any way a computer expert. Verifying and repairing permissions is about all I know how to do that's why I need help. I also just thought I would try the forums first before going to technical support to see what people thought about this.
Again, I repair the permission errors, re-start my system and all is fine. Any further suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Slow motion lost after sync from mac to iphone

Hi,
I can capture videos in slow motion but those videos play at normal speed once Sync them via iTunes.
1. Capture videos in slow motion.
2. The videos first play in slow motion in the iPhone. There is a time line slider to move the slo-mo effect back and forth.
3. I do a back-up via iTunes including videos.
4. After syncing, the videos in the iPhone appear in one album called "Slo-Mo".
5. In the thumbnail of the video clip I can see the small dial icon that all other slow motion videos have.
6. Playing the video shows a normal speed clip without the timeline slider under the video frames view.
The videos DO retain the slo-mo "effect" in Aperture and iPhoto also. Not in the iPhone after syncing.
Any hints to solve this? thanks

Hi,
iOS 8.1 didn't fix the issue so here is my workaround to " show-off " my slow motion clips:
I have tried to open the clips with iMovie in the iPhone. ( I guess not everyone has iMovie installed...?)
So, you can create a new project in iOS iMovie and import the clip you want. Slow motion clips preserve the little dial icon so you can see which ones have the slo-mo effect. It will preserve the slow-motion sections of the original clip and will play "slow".
If for some magical reason your clip doesn't play "slow" in iOS iMovie click on the small "tachometer" icon and select the desired speed.
So. iMovie does know the clip has enough frames to play in slow motion... why the camera app doesn't ?

Compleat system slow down after current updates

Has anyone learned why we all seem to have a compleat system slow down after the current set of updates? Everything works, but is VERY slow to respond. Even iTunes 7.1.1 plays video choppy now. Audio track plays fine however. Odd.

First of all, try repairing your permissions with Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility. Select the hard drive you're running off of and then click the Repair Permissions button.
If that doesn't work I'd do an archive and install:

Then run the combo update(s) instead of the consecutive ones. That seems to be working for a lot of people, but it will probably take a while.
