Make Paragraph Formats go away

I'm running FM12 on Windows 7, and when I do Ctrl-9 to search for a Paratag to use, I get a seach box and a list of formats. In the previous version (FM9) I could see the possible formats with the letters I'm typing in the status bar at the bottom, select it, and all was well. In FM12, if I press Ctrl-9 and immediately start typing the first letters of the format I want, the search box takes a while to appear and when it does, it is stuck. I can't type anything in it and I can't make it go away. It's stuck not in FM but in Windows. I have to move FM out from under it to see what I'm doing. AND I can't put the focus back in the document. I have to restart FM12. What's a fellow to do? The search box is presently over this window as I write.

The very first time you initiate one of the smart catalog dialogues, like the Paragraph or Character formats, FM may take a little bit of extra time to enumerate all of the catalog entries. Thereafter, the next time you summon it, it should pop-up almost instantaneously. So, immediately diving in before it's finished enumerating *may* be triggering a quirk, but up until now, I haven't seen this.
I've tried to trigger this behaviour by typing ahead before it's finished enumerating, but it doesn't ball up on either a WinXP or a Win7 64-bit system.
Have you tried a screen refresh (ctrl+L) or <esc> in FM?
Also, are you saying that the non-functioning Catalog Search window closes when you close FM or is it still hanging around after you close FM?

How to make text formatting stick on book cover when sent to Apple or to PDF?

In iPhoto '11 (version 9), one can format text on book covers and in text blocks by selecting the text and right clicking. Font, size, color, and shadowing can be selected and changed. All of this displays correctly and sticks when the book is saved, etc. However, if the book is "previewed" or exported to a PDF (which I believe is the format sent to Apple for actual printing) some of the formatting is lost, permanently. It just goes away. Why? And, more importantly, how can I make this formatting stick? I'm mainly interested in shadowing as it gives the text a 3d look. All shadowing is lost - font and size do stick. I have successfully done this shadowing in several previous releases of iPhoto, and actually had it printed by Apple. Any ideas out there? Or is this another wonderful "feature" ?

Sorry LN, but that is the problem. When I do either the preview or the export to PDF, the shadow formatting disappears. There is another forum discussion where some person discovered this only after receiving their three hard cover books. I'm pretty sure it is a bug. I have Snow Leopard and iPhoto '11 (v9) both with latest updates.
One other note - when applying the text shadow, anytime I adjust either of the three shadow sliders, the shadow disappears and I must click on the main shadow button to make the adjusted shadow reappear. As I said, it does then stick until I do either the preview or PDF as described in the article you referenced. Very, very, very annoying.
Will try to contact Apple today, although I have had very poor luck with ever getting them to admit to any problem in the past. ( pride goeth before the fall....). Hope they will listen, but I have a close deadline on this book.

TAB in paragraph format for Script

i am doubt with the tabs for paragraph format in the script. how actually it work? i try to make change on the tab, but some time even i put a larger value, the space in the output will become smaller, can anyone explain to me how the tab actually work?

any i configure the tabs as, 20, 30,15 all in CH
so after the "HARLO, it will have 20 CH of spacing, follow by "MY", 30 spacing, and 'MY" 15 spacing, end with "!"?
it this the way it works?
or it works in accumulate way, which include the text display as well?
i found in the forum, say that, it will fix the length of a field( if i display a field), even there is no any value in that field. so how does it work on this?

Replace a paragraph format with another in the every page

I am doing some cleanup before exporting and I don't know much about FrameMaker....
I want to replace the paragraph format ABC with XYZ in every page, how would I do this?
I also have a paragraph format I want to delete and make it just a Normal paragraph in every page, I image it will be the same process as 1?

Try this …
make a back-up just in case
find a paragraph with the style you want to apply (XYZ, in your example)
select Edit > Copy special > Paragraph formatthis copies the format to the clipboard
open the Find/Change dialogue
put the cursor in a paragraph using the format you want to replace (ABC in your example) and select Paragraph tag from the Find pulldownif you're in luck, FM may well read the current format from the cursor position; if not, type it in
select By pasting from the the Change pulldown
click [Change] to see whether the result is what you expect
click [Change all] once you're feeling confident
Use the same technique to replace all occurrences of the style you want to delete (PQR, f'r instance) with another style, then delete PQR using the paragraph designer

Hello.
You probably know the idea of PROTECT command. It makes that a paragraph wont break in two. If it fit's totaly in one page it will print in that page. If not, it will print totaly in the second page (won't break at the middle).
The checkbox you are asking, makes the same with two paragraphs. This means that if you have paragraphs A and B (A becomes first) and if paragraph A has that option, the next paragraph won't break, and appear in the second page. If paragraph A is in first page, paragraph B will print in first page too, or they will both print in second page.

Sapscript - Paragraph Format - Tab space Issue

Hello Experts,
I'm facing issue with the Tab Space Alignment in the Paragraph Format.
I'm giving these values for a Paragraph Format Tabs:
Tab Position:
1: 0,10 CH
2 :3,50CH
3: 6,50CH
12: 76,00CH
Inspite of reducing the TAB position for 5th Tab; it is still aligning a bit far.
And whenever the Description (Field 3) is longer; all the Values are pushing towards right.
Alignment is not getting adjusted. How can I make this as Fixed?

For Standard Text, Paragraph format will be applicable from Standard Styles which will be creating in Transaction code SE72 and apply that Paragraph Format to Text in Standard Text transaction code SO10 then the Paragraph format will be applicable. And transport the Created Style in SE72 to Quality and Production Systems.
Apply the Created Paragraph format created in SE72 to text by below steps:
So10>Provide text>Click on CHANGE>Click on MENU FORMAT>Change Style->Double click on STYLE created in SE72-->Apply the newly created Paragraph Format to text in So10

Script to add markers to text by paragraph format

With previous versions of Framemaker, I had a FrameScript which would loop through my document and add a marker to text based on the paragraph format applied. The marker text would be the selected paragraph.
I am now trying to recreate this in Extendscript for use in Framemaker 10 and am completely stumped.
I have no doubt that my script (copied below) is completely off-track, but I wondered if anybody would be able to help point me in the direction of my many mistakes.
Basically, I want the script to find all paragraphs with the "*Part no." format applied, make that text the text range and then apply a marker to that range. A bit of research has shown that I probably need to create a list of paragraph formats, but I believe that I have far more problems than just that.

Well, it seems that my script is only 95% there. While my script finds the target paragraphs and adds a marker, only the first word of each paragraph is selected as the marker text. I really need the script to select the whole paragraph as the marker text. I have tried many combinations, but cannot seem to get the right outcome. Could anybody please point me in the right direction? Script is copied below. Many thanks!

Paragraph format

hi all,
i am working on a sap script.i am facing a strange pblm whenever i make changes to the text in the page windows by doing different paragraph formats <HT> TEXT </>.AFTER ACTIVATING.if i go back to the text editor i am loosing the changes and i am agian have to write the tags.please let me know how can over come this.

You are sure it really is activated after you activate it (look at the bottom bar at activation)
Maybe it is locked in another session or transport another client.

The paragraph numbering and marking attributes are used to structure texts into chapters, subchapters, and sections. Numbering is carried out automatically by SAPscript.
You can create an outline with the entry options available:
Outline
Enter the name of the highest-level paragraph in an outline hierarchy here. The outline hierarchy is created by assigning this paragraph to all outline paragraphs.
Outline level
Enter the level in the outline hierarchy. The outline levels of the paragraphs are numbered upwards from 1; the highest outline level therefore has the outline number 1.
Number margin
Specify the space between numbering and window border. Note that your numbering may extend into the text area of the paragraph if the difference between the left margin and the number margin is not great enough to hold the numbering characters.
Left/right delimiter
Specify the character that precedes or follows the numbering.
Number chaining
Specify whether you want the paragraph numbering of the paragraph to be preceded by the numbering of all higher paragraphs in the hierarchy.
Example for number chaining

Output length
Enter the number of characters for Arabic numerals.
Upper case
Specify for letters or Roman numerals.

Simple question in Paragraph format / Chracter format of FORMS?

I am enhancing a existing custom SAP Script by appending an additional line to a my_static_text (its not a standard text, it kept inside the SAP Script as a static text).
The current text looks like below,
existing    text   1
existing    text   1
After adding my addiitonal line, the text looks like below,
existing    text   1
existing    text   1
my           additonal    line
My requirement is, REDUCE the SPACE between the WORDS of a line, it should look like below
existing text 1
existing text 1
my additonal line
I checked paragraph format's FONT, but, not getting any clue that What & Wher i should make change to either paragraph format or character format? is it OUTLINE or is it LINE SPACING?

The spaces can be set by pressing the keyboard for the space of course, but if you need the texts of the lines are stacked it's better to use the TAB.
The TAB are insert by a double commas ,,
So
existing    text   1
existing    text   1
If the tabs are used here, you can see them in the sapscript:
existing,,text,,1
existing,,text,,1
So how the text is written?

Hi All,
Please let me know how to create a paragraph format in sap scripts.
I tried to create a paragraph format, because there were some tab space issues with the old paragraph formats.for this at the header level I clicked on paragraph format and edit on application tool bar,but create a paragraph was disabled.
Please help me out.

Hi,
This happens when your program is not actually copied to Current client language. For example English. This is can be solved by following the procedure mentioned.
1. Make sure that the program is copied into your client in the current system language.
2. Open the Script in SE71. Click <b>UTILITIES->CONVERT.ORIG.LANG</b>. Screen will pop up. It displays the orginal language of the script. Change the language to "EN' (assuming EN to be the current language). Now save and try to create the paragraphs.

hey ABAP,
does anyone know the table where the Paragraph formats are stored?
Problem: we have a Form with 740 Paragraph formats, they all are of font-type courier, and now need to be either blank or Helve.
and well i simply dont want to change 740 paragraph formats manually.

arrrgh ok i´m trying to clarify my situation.
I already know how to create and edit paragraph formats in SE71.
Those 740 Paragraph formats have been created by myself.
But now i need to make a change of the Font type to all of them.
you sureley can imagine that i dont want to edit 740 paragraph formats manually piece by piece.
thats why i was asking for a table where they are stored, so i can write a small report which changes that one field for me in ALL my pareagraph formats.

Smartform when iam development i dont find the paragraph format?

iam developing a smartform i just in the windows i am started adding the heading , so when i created a text and when i write the text and wanted to make the text center i cannot see the Character Formats and Paragraph Formats . i mean to say i dont find the drop option itself the Paragraph formats or Charcgter Formats i am getting only the Winword as default when i go to the General attributes . why iam not able see the Paragraph Formats?

That is not thing which i have aske is when i create a text i am getting WordPad as default due to which i cannot see my pageformat drop down box at all, so any way i have found it how to remove it by going to the transacton I18N -

Style : paragraph format

In Smartforms, I am using two text of different font and size. I make a style ,where we define a paragraph format which is p1 and p2 . the two paragraph format is used in Smartforms text.
But the exact problem is the p2 option is not generated. Only p1 works in smartforms text.
may this problem solve it.

Hello,
You must create both the paragraph format in one smartstyle, say for example, ZSTYLE1. Now open your smartform. Go to 'Output Options' tab and include the smartstyle name.
