Make photos vertical from horizontal?
imac Mac OS X (10.4.7) Is it possible to change a photo from a horizontal to a vertical? Can I compress the photo in some way so that the 4x6 dimension goes vertically instead of horizontally? Please help--I'm trying to make family photos work in a pre-cut multi-opening frame mat!
Hello, Pennell,
Welcome to the discussions.
You can crop the photo however you wish. If you preselect the crop to 4x6, you will find it chops a vertical photo right in the middle. Choose 'none' for the crop when you open that photo, then change it to 4x6 with the photo open. Place the cursor where you wish the photo to begin the crop and drag it vertically. You should then get the 4x6 dimension that you want, and you can drag that to the size and location for the crop.

How do you make photos vertical in iPhoto calendar?
When making a calendar in iPhoto, and you choose 6 or 7 photos to be displayed on that month, how do you make the 4 little photos vertical?
You can't change the frame. But you can Control-click on the photos and select Fit Photo to Frame Size and it will reduce the size of the photo so the entire portrait photo will display in the frame. The excess background will be the same color of the page's background.

Hi, haven't used iMovie in years. I shot some video with my cell phone camera (Samsung Galaxy S2). When I tried to make a movie, the clips I downloaded played back sideways on iMovie. Is there any way I an flip the video from horizontal to vertical? Thanks.
You actually want a vertical video??
What would you show that on?!
Rotating video or photos in iMovie 11:
http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3a884fd3
In earlier versions of iMovie you can also do this using Quicktime Pro 7:
Open MOV file in QT Pro (QT 7.6.6)
Window -> Show Movie Properties
select "Video Track"
select "Visual Settings" from lower window
check "Preserve Aspect Ratio"
Click on appropriate rotation icon (MOV rotates!)
Click back on the open MOV in Player Window
FILE -> Save
You can also do this using TransformMovie, available here:

I find that after updating my ipad to ios8 banking applications to deposit funds no longer work. The camera image rotates from horizontal to vertical and cannot be corrected. Is this a new ios8 error. I tried two different bank applications for ipad.
Hi, Thanks for that further bug description In Your Last Message That Describes The Problem I Am Having perfectly and is exactly the same for me.
unfortunately that fix for my camera Powershot G6 does not work or apply as the view pictures switch is different on G6 is not usable during download as once you plug in DC/USB cable it turns off, and makes no diff and problem still exists exactly as you just described.
thanks anyways "Selz Boy"
it has been 17 days since apple promised to get back to me within 3-5 days hopefully with a solution, but I have still not heard from them.
They blew me off, i guess, probably i will have to wait for new Yosemite OS update, which they pre-warned me could take as much as 6 months.
I cannot believe apple released this new update with such major bug issues for camera downloads and that horrible "Photos" pgm which has all sorts of downgrades in features, usefulness and new bugs compared to iPhotos which I just finally got used to and was much better software.
I am starting to lose faith in Apple and I am getting that Microsoft "FEEL" like I used to have when I was a PC user, which was why I originally switched to Apple computers in first place.
Oh well got my fingers crossed here.
Thankfully the memory card reader solution is working well, but cost me $45. -
Image Sequence with vertical and horizontal photos
I'm trying to use a particle emitter with image sequence to make photos appear and move one at a time. I have collected about 20 JPEGs that I numbered sequentially so Motion would read them as an image sequence. No problem there. Most of the photos have a horizontal orientation (3000x2000) but several are vertical (2000x3000), and Motion is cropping the vertical images to fit within a horizontal frame (like this). When I apply the particle emitter, that cropping is retained.
I know I have seen examples of a similar process and the emitter treats the photos are individual pieces, retaining their original size and orientation. What am I doing wrong?Technically, in a proper Image Sequence, all images are the same size/aspect ratio.
What you'll need to do is make on set (vertical or horizontal) a new size, to fit inside the other. The Particle Emitter will matte it's images to one or the other, which ever comes first. -
My phone gyro stopped working. How do I flip an image from vertical to horizontal?
Hey Bill Seiden,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the orientation of your iPhone. Let's check to make sure orientation lock is not enabled, you can do so from the Control Center:
Lock the screen in portrait orientation - Control Center
http://support.apple.com/kb/TI152#TI152
Lock the screen in portrait orientation.
Swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen to reveal Control Center.
Tap to lock the screen in portrait orientation.
Thanks,

If I want to delete the photo library from my iPhone, how do I make sure I dont delete them from my desktop as well?
If you have copied them to your computer, then you will be OK. Just deselect the photos when you sync.

NOt an iPhoto issue - either a bad CD or a bad Superdrive on your computer - no way for us to tell try the CD in a different computer

Is there a way to view earlier messages in a thread without going through each day? Also, can you make a photo album from the same text thread without going back to the beginning?
Turn Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom to ON.

Simply because your Explorer/Finder only takes into account the file names and dates of your files.
For instance, in Windows, you have to tell the explorer to sort by 'date taken' otherwise the default sort orders are file dates or file names.
If you have given a 'custom' sort order to your albums, the only way for the Explorer to sort in the same way is to set the custom sort order in the album, export to a new folder with the 'rename' option - same starting text string plus order. -

In need of a macro to transpose data from horizontal to vertical
I need help creating a macro that would transpose some data from horizontal to vertical.
You just want to transpose some data from horizontal to vertical?
If so ,you can use array formula TRANSPOSE.
Also here is a sample Macro:
Sub Macro1()
' Macro1 Macro
Range("A1:B3").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Selection.Copy
Range("H1").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteAll, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
False, Transpose:=True
End Sub
It would be better if you can let us know your current data and what you are trying to achieve.
