Make search word name of page

I noticed on some sites, when you search for stuff like
"games" the results page dynamically displays in games.cfm, search
for games basketball, the results get displayed in
games-basketball.cfm e.t.c . How is this done?
Any one has an example of how it is done? Are the pages
dynamically created and named the value of the search
parameters?

I guess the advertising angle never occured to me, since I
intentionally never follow online advertising.
I also can't fathom why JohnandMamaStore would be the least
bit interested, let alone impressed, with such a sales pitch that
touts their very own dedicated page.
It is the intentional deception that you are blatantly trying
to pull over on your bread and butter advertisers that I find
curious.

Hello,is there a way to make a word processing document in pages with 1" margins because at the top of page it has more than 1", and can the box at the top be deleted

hello, is there a way to make a word processing document in pages with !" inch margins? i ask this because there is a box where you can write text and the you start your document, but it takes more than 1 inch from the top, can that box be removed? and why whatever you write in the box appears in every page of the paper? is there a way to avoid this? sorry I do not use computers very often and i just want to write an essay for my english clss, thanks for your help.

The box is called Headers and is used for thing that will be repeated on several pages like page numbering and names etc.. You can uncheck it in the Inspector > Document tab

Firefox, the web browser, doesn't make any decisions about what mail should be considered spam or what senders should be blocked. What email software or webmail site are you using that is rejecting the messages?
If it's a common site like Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail/Outlook.com, then perhaps a volunteer familiar with their specific settings can help.

Can't open a Word document in Pages '09

Alright...I have tried to search the forum to see if someone is having the same problem but I haven't seen any. I cannot open a word document in pages. at all. Just says "The document “filename.doc” couldn’t be opened."
Any suggestions?

This was one of the first symptoms of "un-updated" Pages in Snow Leopard. Once again, here are the two things you may not have done that fix quite a few problems in Snow Leopard.
First, use the Mac OS 10.6.3 combo updater. This fixes a problem with the Hoefler Text font that is not fixed using the delta update (10.6.1 > 10.6.2).
Second, make sure your iWork applications are updated. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.3 & Numbers 2.0.3. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

I had the same problem, in fact, I'm one of the people who clicked, "I have this problem, too!"
I used to have blank tabs when I would open them, but I downloaded some shady software that I didn't know had add-ons! I tried the "about:config" method and messed around with some of those things but nothing happened. After deleting and reinstalling firefox it still happened, and after doing a computer wide search of 'Ya' or 'yahoo' it came up empty. That told me it's combined with some other program or it's under a different name completely. When I would open a new tab, the url would come up something like:
www.click.1.3.yahoo.com/tab_search_000,00.03 blah blah blah. toward the end of the string though, the word "Freeze" appeared. So I went back to my control panel and looked for the word freeze in anything, even as the host site. I FOUND IT! It was some net assistant bug that downloaded off of some other software I had running. Hope this helps some of you!

How to tell web host no meta tags or search words please?

I am getting ready to upload files to my new site but want to make sure there will be no search words for this site other than the URL. I use DW4. Thanks.

Meta tags are placed in the HTML. Your webhost has nothing to do with the content that you place on their servers, other than making it available to the world.
Look in files you created with Dreamweaver and see if you added any meta information, it would look something like this:
<meta name="typeOfMetaTagHere" content="The Actual meta info here">
If you don't see anything that starts with <meta... then you don't have any meta information on the page.

Problems with word files in pages

I have been able to open word documents in Pages on my MacBook Pro since I got iWork '09 last year. However, I have just purchased an 27in iMac, and I can no longer open word documents using Pages. Anybody have a similar experience, and if so, what's the solution?

Batch changing Word docs to Pages

I've been using Word for years, now converting to Pages. In searching for a way to quickly convert all my documents to Pages, I've read posts here and found only advice for handling things one at a time -- though I may have missed a post. But I have found a possible answer, yet not sure of the consequences, so please advise. If you
1. Click on a document and click on "more info"
2. Open with option - select Pages. Just below this line are the words, "Use this application to open all documents like this, and the option button, "Change All..."
So I pick an unimportant file and do this, and receive the message after pressing "Change All":
"Are you sure you want to change all your Microsoft Word documents to open with the application 'Pages'? This change will apply to all Microsoft Word documents with type W8BN."
One, I don't have any clue what documents will be included because of the "W8BN," because this is a designation I've never heard of, don't know how it is assigned. It is very specific to whether the document is all text, or who authored it, or does it literally refer to all current Word documents made with the version of Word I have (Microsoft Word X)?
Until I know this, and the consequences of pressing "Change All," I won't do this. But if this is a truly simple and non-destructive way to batch change, how wonderful!
To further complicate matters, I need this question answered for Leopard AND Tiger, as my husband is one and I am on the other....

I have downloaded your ForPages:batchWord2Pages.zip to try and convert a group of Word files to Pages. As the script asks, I have saved it as an application bundle. When I drop a folder (or a group of files) onto the saved application bundle Pages opens but then my system gets stuck in a loop. The computer makes a rapid 'bonging' noise (the sort it makes if you click a button by mistake) and then nothing else will work. I cannot force quit anything or use activity monitor to close any tasks. All I can do is hold the power switch to make the computer switch off.
I have tried this on both my iMac & Mac Book Pro. Both run 10.5.2 and Pages 3.0.2. The same thing happens on both machines.
Is there something else I need to set in the script before I save it as an application bundle?

Search By Name function is NOT WORKING.

Before reading further, PLEASE take note of this: I have ALREADY installed the "Search By Name" add-on, and it DOES NOT WORK. As such, PLEASE do not suggest that add-on as a fix to my issue, since that add-on IS my issue.
I was using Firefox ESR 10.0.11 and was forced to upgrade to 17.0.7 yesterday, even though my cfg file is set to not allow updates. Since the upgrade, the Search by Name function has stopped working, i.e.: I used to be able to type "yahoo" into the address bar and go straight to yahoo; now, when I type anything that is not a complete URL into the address bar, it goes to allied.com. I have already gone into about:config and changed keyword:URL to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= and have also installed the Search By Name add-on. Neither of these work. Please help me.

PDF Maker Crashing WORD

I am asking a question for a change and have not been able to find the search to look for past answers. Anyway, I have a WORD file (269 pages and 23MB) on which I have tried using PDF Maker in WORD 2007 (and 2010). First, using all the variations of AA (8 and above) that I have for 2007, the Adobe PDF printer has worked fine. However, only AA8 has worked for the file with WORD 2007. With 2007 and AA9.52 and the newest AA and WORD 2010, WORD crashes when page 62 is reached. My student has the same problem. I have clipped pages around p. 62 to a new PDF and now the crash appears at p. 3 (I did this to be sure it was not a file size issue, though I still had emptied the TEMP folder).
Apparently something in the DOC (not DOCX) file is causing an issue. Any suggestions of what to look for?
In the meantime, I will try to delete portions to see if I can find the problem. However, after a while WORD puts PDF Maker in the bad guys location and I have to fish that out to reactivate it. Yes I know that I am finally on the receiving end of the problem rather than trying to suggest solutions. I suspect I will be able to track it down as to the cause, but thought someone might have an idea to speed up the process since I can't seem to search for a solution (pointing me there would be nice also). At least we can use the printer and so this is not a do or die situation.

I traced the problem down to a bitmap. When I tried to clip the bitmap, I got a message in Irfanview (graphics package) that the image could not be converted. When I chose edit drawing, I was able to clip the bitmap out and back into the document. Then PDF Maker was used with no problem after this copy process. The issue is really trying to trace down to the bad image or font (in this case an image), copy it and then reinsert the image. Was then able to apply PDF Maker.

Search db from one page

On my php page, I have a simple form with one textbox. Once
submitted the search results page will load with recordset
information based on the URL Parameter of the search textbox.
It works great if I filter the recordset by one value, say
username...
However, I would like to be able to search not just by one
field on my search page.
I would like another form on the search page:
Form 1: Search by username (this is what I had done aleady)
Form 2: Search by last name
How can I add another form that will use the same results
pages? Do I need to make another results page just for that form?!
I plan on building off of the results page with update record
behaviors, to name one.
What if I even decide to add another search form on the
search page?
What's the best way to go about this?

I now have one form with a few textboxes on them, each with
their own textfield name: username, lastname, user_ID...
On my search page I created a recordset with 3 colname
variables, their run-time values are $_GET['username'],
$_GET['lastname'], $_GET['user_ID']
My sql is: SELECT *
FROM members
WHERE username = colname or last = colname2 or user_ID =
colname3
This will allow me to search from the seach page assuming I
only have one textbox with information typed into it. It does work,
and I like that idea.
However, how can I modify this to search this way, and to
also search from any other textfields that are entered. So, search
by lastname (if typed in search box) and by username (if typed into
the search box)?
So only use the information that is typed into the search box
as part of the query.

you can override the query listener on the af:query component and if your complex condition is not met, show an error message (either you show an FacesMessage message or open a popup dialog) and don't execute the query

in position 1 but suspect they'll say no. Currently the table has 1.5 million rows , one pk, and is approx 1100 bytes wide if varchars are fully used.

A simple index use an exact value in order to compare it (it orer the tree according to the value). For most cases it will not be a good solution for filtering by "like" (in some cases it can help you use "index scan", but it will not
be able to use "index seek"). There are several options that can help in this issue dapending on your interface and the way you use the data:
(1) Full Text Index as Olaf mentioned
(2) Another option, which is very useful in some cases, based on using an external table, which store list of searching words (if the user try a new search then you can scan the original table, which this is one-time-job for each new word). This is actually
work on the same idea of using FTS, but it is more flexible and give you direct control if you need to use word searching and not phrase/free-text searching. This table is indexed and the search is done on this table, and not the original table. Those two
tables have relations many-to-many, and you use a simple JOIN to get the results

There is a simple solution that might help you in this case which is very useful! you can create a computed column that store the value according to your patterns, and then create index on that
column. For example if the your pattern is filter by "starting with 10 specific char" then you can use simple LEFT function like in this code:

how can i make a soft return with pages shift plus enter does not work!!

On full keyboards with a numeric keypad, the key above the right shift is "return" & the one on the numeric section is "enter." On a Mac (or Apple IIgs ) they do have separate functions. On the "mini" keyboards, both names are on the same key, but "enter" is written in smaller letters. I'll have to check to see how that works on another Mac later today.
