Make selected song play next?

It seems so simple..
I have a remote music library which is shared to my laptop. Then I play songs (selected on the laptop iTunes) via airtunes to the stereo.
All I want is to play a song then while it's playing peruse the shared library, select a song and have it play next. Real simple DJ'ing just for me.
I can't use playlists on the remote laptop... it won't let me make them from shared songs. And besides my somg choice is very spur of the moment and depends on what I find at the moment.
Can it be done?
It seems so simple....

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • SUGGESTION: "Play next"-function in iTunes

Sometimes, when I listen to music, I often get a feeling like "Oh! that reminded me of a song, I'm going to play that after this is done". Often I get reminded of many songs, that I maybe haven't heard in a while etc. However, I usually forget to listen to the songs because I forget to change when the current song is done.
I've been wondering a while why there isn't such a feature in iTunes that lets you make a list of upcoming songs you want to hear, then go back to where you were when you made the upcoming list. This isn't really easy to describe, so I've made a picture illustrating the basic of the idea.
    http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/6964/itunesvx5.gif
    1. "Oh I wanna hear this song next!" Left click the song -> Play next / put in line/add to list/queue etc.
Then when you press the "play next"-button, a number will show where the "now playing"-icon normally is. If it's the first, it will say 1, if it's the second it will say 2 and so on.
    2. When you put a song in the "upcoming-list", it will show in the box (not an ideal placement if you've got a lot of playlists though).
    3. The "*" is for returning to the normal playlist again. If you've got shuffle mode on, it can be any of the songs in your library, and if shuffle is off, it'll be the song that comes after the song you were playing when making the list (in my case, that would be "04 - Anna Lee", see picture marked as "4")
Other functions could be an option deciding how many times you want to play the songs on the list. If it's an exceptionally great song you haven't heard in a while, maybe you want to play it 3 times in a row. This could be done by left-clicking the song in the list -> play several times -> enter number.
Options when left-clicking an item in the list:
    "Delete from list"
    "Play several times"
    "Move down"
    "Move up"
    + more
Does anyone else think this sounds like a good idea, or is it just plain out a stupid suggestion?

    hi,
what you are describing is almost like the party shuffle option. while a song is playing, you can see the forecast of the next songs and change it before they actually play.
i'm often doing what you are trying to acheive using this feature... you should give a try.

  • Songs play back in different volume levels

Some of my songs play back in different volume levels. How does one make the songs play back in the same volume. I know there's some setting you enable in itunes, but it's always enabled on my system. So why doesn't it work?

I know there's some setting you enable in itunes,
Do you know what this "some setting" is?
In iTunes, go to menu Edit -> Prefs - Playback.
    Tick Soundcheck.
On the iPod, go to Setting Soundcheck and set to On.
    Resync the iPod.
Note that Soundcheck is not foolproof and there may be some variances on the levels between songs.
You can use this application -> MP3Gain
to better analyze and adjust the levels of your songs.

  • Select a song to play next (after current song)

I love iTunes, but for me it's just missing one thing....
I can't (at least I don't know how) select a certain song from my playlist to play AFTER the current song is finished... If it would have that function, or a way to do this, it would be ALL I need for a music player.
Is there a way in iTunes to select the song to play next?
And/or arrange your playlist in the way (the order of songs) you want?

*Is there a way in iTunes to select the song to play next?*
iTunes doesn't have the "queuing" option you describe (except within the Party shuffle function which queues songs and within which you can drag songs into order). If you'd like to see an option like this in some futer version of iTunes you can send feedback/feature requests directly to Apple at this link: Apple Product Feedback
*And/or arrange your playlist in the way (the order of songs) you want?*
Open the playlist and click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move, hold down the mouse button and drag the song to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.

    Hello HoopsMD,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the display on your iPod nano (7th generation) is not responding to your touch as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and working through the steps within to help resolve this issue.
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting - Apple Support
    Display
Follow these steps if your iPod doesn't respond to your input or has a display-related issue.
Screen is unresponsive and displays Apple logo or white screen
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear. If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes.
If the Apple logo does not appear, or if the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect it to iTunes and try to restore.
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Play next song feature

Listening on PC using itunes, is there a play next song feature where you can select the next song to be played?

Not really. Best you can do is make a playlist and play from that.

  • Try to play next song or the song ends and the music stops. Whats wrong with it?

Every time I hit "next" to play the next song, the current song playing will stop and wont play the next song. This also happens when the songs ends. When the song ends it won't start the next song. How do I fix this?
Also the shuffle won't shuffle any one my songs.
    HELP!!!!!!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPod?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPod shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
If these don't work try removing all music via iTunes and reinstall all the music from your iTunes library.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the other ID.  When you delete the account it will prompt you about what to do with the iCloud data.  If you need to migrate it and merge it with the data in the new account choose Keep on My iDevice; then choose Merge to upload the data and merge it with the new account.  If your data is already in the other account and you don't need to migrate it to the other account, choose Delete from My iDevice.

If iTunes 11, have you checked the "Up Next" list? If it is not empty, try if clearing "UP Next" will help:

  • Selecting songs to play

This probably has a simple answer. How do I select songs to play on iTunes? Okay I check the box. The song plays. What if I want to play 3 albums in a row? Our all my Byrds albums? I can select ALL songs. Or I can go down the list and click on each one. But that might be 68 clicks. Seems like a lot of work if I just open my puter for a few minutes and want to hear specific tunes. Oh, and clicking on the first song and holding the shift key while clicking on the last song doesn't check the boxes. That just makes them blue so I can move them to a playlist. But that too is way too much work. How do I just select a list of songs to play without clicking on each song?

Here's what I can tell you...
-- Most users find it easier to keep all of the songs in their library checked. (You can check all songs by selecting all, right or control-clicking and choose Check Selection.)
-- To play a list of songs, but them into a playlist and hit play.
-- To play all songs or albums by a certain artist, use the Browser. (iTunes > View > Show Browser).
Again these will really only work if you keep your songs checked all the time. I only have about three tracks in my library that are unchecked, and that's cause they're dupes of a song in another format for use in a video program. Some people uncheck holiday music except during the holiday season.
I'm not sure why you have your songs unchecked, but I would suggest that you reconsider the necessity of keeping your library this way. I really don't think it's necessary, and I think you'll find things work much easier with the checkmarks always there.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • HT1689 How do I make songs play automatically in sequence on iPad?

How do I make songs play automatically on iPad?

Other than starting play from the songs list - As far as I know, unless you create a playlist for all of the music that you want to play without stopping, there is no way to play songs continuously in the Music App on the iPad.
If you start play with a song in the songs list, then I believe all of the songs will play one after the other. If you mean though, starting with one album or artist and then moving on the the next album or artist, you have to create a playlist for that.
