Make the help feature better
...by which I mean:
FASTER - in the olden days of CS3, I could click on help, type in a query, press return and have the answer right there in a few seconds. Now the help system has grown so ridiculously bloated that it takes about a minute just to load up! By which time I've just opened Firefox and Googled the answer there.
EASIER - For example, I want to 'fill' an area. I load up the help system...yawn...turn off all the 'online' options, do a search for 'fill'. It comes back with "1. Select the Live Paint Bucket Tool". OK. Where is this live paint bucket tool? Would it kill Adobe to change this to "1. Select the Live Paint Bucket Tool. It's hiding behind the shape builder tool about halfway down the toolbar". It would save me having to click and expand every single toolbar item, looking for the thing.
And talking of the toolbar, ever since about CS, I have hated the way the tools are in pop-out menu thingies - nearly all pro CS+ users have big monitors, which are more than capabale of displaying all the pop-out tools in a nice long vertical column. This would make finding and accessing the tools far faster.
So there's no apparent way to rotate a gradient in Illustrator, so I searched for "gradient" in the help. The word "gradient" WASN'T FOUND IN THE HELP.

What Makes the MacBook Pro better then MacBook Air?
What Makes the MacBook Pro better then MacBook Air?
I am considering getting a laptop of one of the 2.
I think Macbook pro is what i want as just a secondary computer, need a laptop that performs same as my desktop IMac
What are really the differences between the Pro and Air?
What Pro is best?
Anyone have problems? and am i best with paying for a brand new computer vs refurb?
thanksIt really depends what you use it for.
I'm in my senior years in high school and I just bought my macbook pro (15 in - $1799 w/out tax). I'm willing to spend the extra money as I am planning to use it to continue my education in post secondary school. I think that the MBP is great for work, designing and for professionals. The MBA is great for portability and chicness. The graphics on the MBP is beyond my expectations and it's great. Its great for many things.
It all comes to this. Are you willing to spend the extra money on a MBP. What will you be using your computer for? WIll you be using it for a very long time? Are you going to be careful with it? I heard that the MBA is flimsy and can easily break.
I also recommend you ask a person at the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and they will be glad to assist you. I researched for a solid half of a year before i made a decision and bought my macbook pro.
Hope this helps. -
Can I make the Help Center application work like other apps
Hi, I've searched all over the place to find the commands I need to enter into Terminal to make the Help Center application work like an ordinary application, ie so that a help center window can remain open whilst using the appliction it refers to, I did it a long time ago on my Imac using Snow Leopard, but I just can't remember what I did or where I found the Terminal commands to do it (Old age is creeping up on me ). I would like to do the same for my mid 2012 MacBook Air running Mountain Lion any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Peter
OK I finally found it :- open Terminal and type the following:-
defaults write com.apple.helpviewer DevMode -bool true -
hi everyone
please please make the Multitasks feature in ios 5 optional , like the bluetooth or siri which can turn it on or off
thank you very much to all of you
please do not ignore this request and think about it pleaseThis is a user-to-user forum. You're not addressing Apple here. If you want to make a suggestion to Apple, use the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
http://www.apple.com/feedback
I think it's also possible you don't quite understand how multitasking works on the iPhone. Most of the apps you see when you double tap the Home button are not running. They are recently used. Very, very few apps actually run in the background. Apps that do continue to work in the background are apps that play music or use GPS. -
I JUST UPDATED MY ITUNES TO ITUNES10.5 ON MY LAPTOP(WIN7)
THE HELP FEATURE DOES NOT WORK.
I ALSO UPDATED MY IPAD2 3G WIFI 64GIG TO IOS5 AND NOW NONE OF MY PURCHASED APPS WORK??????????I have seen this before. You need to update the apps in your app store, and once they are updated, they will work again.

Is there a way to make the "Find" feature case insensitive?
Is there a way to make the "Find" feature case insensitive?
''Is there a way to make the "Find" feature case insensitive?''
Find ("Ctrl+F")
:uncheck "Match case" on the Find bar
An extension that enhances the Find bar for something they have not added is
*Find All :: Add-ons for Firefox
*:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/find-all/
And if you want a serious fixup for Find see/vote [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171237 Bug 171237] even though it still misses the point, it should be "exactly" like Opera. -
What happened to the help feature in CS5
Prior Photoshop versions had a help feature that brought up a document where topics could be easily located in an index. In CS5 this help functionality no longer exists, or I can not find it. Instead there is some new help document that contains no index of subjects and when you try and search for a topic it returns articles not just for CS5 but for earlier versions. This is confusing, I just want to easily locate a particular topic for CS5 only. Is this no longer possible in CS5? If not, why was it dropped?
As Zeno mentioned, you can restrict the search to just the Photoshop CS5 Help document by checking the "This reference only" checkbox. Click here for an example of such a search.
Regarding the lack of an index: Are you referring to the navigation pane (sometimes referred to as a table of contents) on the left side of every page, or are you referring to something else? Either way, I encourage you to give your feedback on the Community Help forum. The people who can affect this system are on that forum. -
How can I make the Help Topics available offline?
How can I make iBooks Author Help Topics available offline?
Deleted and re-installed...
Still get the following:

Make sure you’re connected to the Internet. For help connecting, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network, and click “Assist me.”
If you’re connected to the Internet, and the content still doesn’t appear, try again later. -
I have the TC connected to the comcast modem, with TC in Double NAT mode. I set up the sonos music players ok. But I read that to incresae the wifi signal the TC should be in Bridge mode. Then I cannot get any of the Sonos units to connect to the wifi network.
So two questions, does the Bridge mode give a better wifi signal then double NAT?
Why will sonos not connect to the network when in Bridge mode?A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

Things that can make the Apple TV better
1. Using a iPhone or iPod touch as a remote control (as an option). This would make it similar to Squeezebox™ Duet. I love to listen to music online in my living room.
2. 1080p movie downloads
3. Being able to purchase movies in HD
3. A small but elegant LCD display on the Apple TV (for use for internet radio streaming).
4. Support for WMA streaming. (Unfortunately there are many websites that use this format. Maybe one day this will change)1 - would be great given that these devices can connect to your router wirelessly
2 - not practical currently unless they were heavily compressed to the detriment of quality to allow reasonable download speed
3 - I can see that
3b - No thanks
4 - Unlikely -
Some gripes/feature requests:
Right-clicking a layer in the layers palette does nothing, which is unforgivable. It should pop up a menu like in Photoshop.
It is also impossible to drag a layer or layers from the layers palette to another document, like you can in Photoshop.

Why does the HELP feature of my new CS6 (Dreamweaver) produce help only for CS5?
Today, I need to know how to set linked documents to open in new window, but CS5 process is not possible, or so it seems. Can anyone enlighten? The PDF files at http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver.html, refer to version 12 and the cloud, even though they are entitled CS5 - CS6.
I bought the disk version, as the cloud version is far too expensive to consider if you only use two products and don't need the others.
Where are the help files for CS6 that is not on the cloud? There must be thousands out there using CS6 disk version, that seem to have been abandoned. I only bought the program a few months ago, and now the help that was supposed to come with it seems to have disappeared to the cloud - unless you know better?
The pdf files do not contain any help - only links to help files on line. This is fine if you are on line, but what if, like me, you are unable to get on line due to location?
Often I am working on my laptop in a location that has no web access.
The UK has probably the worst Internet service in the world, second only to places like Nigeria, if you don't live in a big town. I am only able to get on line when at my office.
This is what I meant when I asked how long will the help files be available. The quick answer is that they have already gone, and been replaced by a lot of on line links.
Is there a link to the original pdf files even for CS5. These could be downloaded and set so that your machine did not look on line, and the info was immediately available.
For people who are in the business, this is probably not a problem, but it is for me.
Message was edited by: whatalotofrubbish due to finding additional lack of information in the pdf files. -
I have used the 'help' feature for my CS2 applications successfully for the past two years. Now, for some reason I can no longer access 'help' in any of the CS2 applications. Do I need to reinstall 'help' or ???
Peter,
Thank you for your response.
I went to the above web site per your insertion. I followed the "Tech Note" instructions for reactivating the 'help' feature of my CS2 applications.
1. I did verify that the Help content files do exist on my computer as listed (Exception - I do not have InCopy 4.0_en-us-zip.)
2. I followed steps 2 and 3 for deleting the appropriate files.
3. In manually launching the Adobe Help Center I found the file ahc (with no exe extension) The file did have a shadowy ? on it. The files seemed to be relaunching ok. but --------
4. I opened Photoshop and when I clicked on 'help' I received the following error messages: 'Model subsystem returned this error 1034. then 'The instruction at "0X00864a4d" referenced memory at "0X00f50608". The memory could not be "written". Click ok to terminate the program. -

Please help; What makes the 2nd Gen iPod Touch better then the 1st Gen?
I am thinking about buying an 8gb iPod Touch, should i save some dough and buy the 1st gen iPod Touch or pay a bit more and buy the 2nd gen?
Also, what makes the 2nd gen iPod Touch better then the 1st gen, what has been improved, changed, etc...?
Thanks in advance.I had the 1st gen touch since it first came out and just got the 2nd gen touch last month. I'll list a few things I like about the 2nd gen touch.
1. internal speaker. makes a huge difference in my opinion.
2. new design. alot nicer to hold in your hand than the 1st gen.
3. seems faster overall than the 1st gen touch.
4.display no longer has blue tint. now has more of a yellow tint. makes pics and movies look a little better.
If you can afford the 2nd gen touch I would highly recommend it.
