Make the Mail app go away

I am at my wits end..
How can I get the mail app to stop prompting me to set it up when I log in.
I have no interest in using the Mail app, and if I could I would delete it (alas it is a required application and I cannot do that).
I use google mail and outlook as a client, and I would really just like the Mail app to leave me alone.
I have changed all the file associations, and I have checked that mail is not one of the "start on login" apps under my profile.
Why won't it leave me alone?

u cant delete that mail but can delete the email you use in that..n if it comes when you log in you can stop it in System Prefrences..
To Stop :-
system prefrences> User and Groups> click on Login Items in top right> click mail then click "-" sign down below n your work is done!!
To Delete user Acc. From Mail:-
Open Finder
Click Go on the top..
Click alt/option key on keyboard
another option library will be shown there
click on that and a folder will pop up
Search mail in that folder n move it to trash..
IT WONT DELETE THE MAIL APP..BUT WILL DELETE THE ACCOUNT IN MAIL..You CAN AGAIN SING IN TO THAT MAIL IN FUTURE BY OPENING THE APP...

I deleted my old Email account because I wanted to create a new one, and I did. However, when ever I send an Email from the Mail app on my laptop it says the Email was sent from my old Email and I just can not get rid of it.

I deleted my old Email and only used my new Email to set up the Mail app on my laptop. And the old Email is completely dead, hotmail.com says the Email no longer excists when I try to sign back in to it however my Emails remain saying 'Sent from Jordan [*old Email*].

Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon in my dock was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted all my emails in my Outlook inbox.

When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions. It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app. But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone. And not in the Deleted box. Just gone. Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up. Please help.
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
Next...
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > General.
At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".
Select All = command A

i found out my prob!
here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
click "software updates".
click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
go to mail.
click "mail" at the top.
click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

Try quitting the Mail app and reset your device. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

You don't need iDVD unless you are going to make DVDs. If you are just trying to share files, iDVD won't help you at all.
What you want to do is in iMovie, choose File/Share/File, and export that way. It creates an .mp4 file that should be readable on Macs or Windows.
You could also File/Share/YouTube if you don't mind posting them to YouTube, because of course YouTube videos are watchable by any Mac or Windows computer made in the last 10 years.

How can I have my emails on iPhone4 and and the mail app on Macbook?

How can I get my emails to be visible on my iPhone mail app and the mail app on the Macbook? Before I attempt it, if I add this mail account to the mail app on the Macbook will my mails then download and not be visible on the iPhone?

The mail app on my computer is open but nothing is displayed on the screen. When I go to shut down a small message appears saying "unable to shut down as mail is still open". However, when I try to close the mail app it won't let me. What do I do?

pennbank is correct that holding the power button will stop the computer. But it stops *all* processes mid-step, which can leave some of OSX in an incorrect state because of pending internal file updates that were killed. I do not like to use that method if anything else will make it respond. For example, once the computer was not responding when I was using a BT trackpad. I eventually removed the batteries from the trackpad to force it dead, and the release of the BT channel freed the MBP.

It's like the Mail app on the top bar is stuck. Even when I try to quit out of the mail app, nothing happens.
I tried checking all the boxes in the Viewing box for mail, show header detail.
I am also not able to make the mail icon go poof. When I drag it off the dock and into a place on the desktop... it just reverts back to the doc.
I tried unchecking the "close windows when quitting an application".
For some reason to vew my mail, I'm still having to click on window at the top mail bar and then click on Message viewer.

Strange problem with the mail app on an iPad

I've got a bit of a strange problem with the mail app on an iPad - it's sending and receiving mail ok but won't let you delete mail. If you keep at it, it appears as if you have deleted mail (though takes a very long time as you just have to keep deleting it over and over again) - but the size of the app still keeps going up - reached 600mb so far, even though there is hardly any mail or attachments (goes up quite a lot each time you try to delete anything) - any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?
It occasionally comes up with a dialogue panel saying to check my account settings, but I have checked those and they are fine. The little 'loading' icon just keeps spinning constantly too.

go to Settings > Mail > your account > Advanced > Move Discarded Messages Into
and make sure that Deleted Mailbox is ticked, and not Archive Mailbox
You can also adjust how long the deleted mail stays in the trash immediately below that.
If you are talking about a gmail account, you may also have to login to your account on the gmail server and update the settings there. This is what Barney previously posted about that:

Just enter anything short & plausible in as few fields as you can get away with : '[email protected]' works here, you'll get a brief 'not responding' or such at each stage, but it does allow you to use Mail.

When resetting your password, did you turn on two-step authentication? If you did, the Mail App isn't compatible with it - either, you need to create an application password and use that to log in using the iPhone Mail App, (instead of your Microsoft Account password) or disable two-step authentication to make it work.

Update the mail app styles as per outlook mail client themes

I am developing an office mail app.My requirement is,If user changes the theme in outlook/office 365 my app styles are not changing. I am using office.css in my local mail app web site.
Is it possible to update the mail app styles as per outlook mail client themes? When user changes the theme my app`s style should also update accordingly.

Can you actually see that the attachment has a .jpg extension? Some mail systems strip it off (I've seen AOL do that) which makes the attachment difficult to open.
