Make This My Card
My husband and I both use MacBooks. He also owns an iPad. We have been using the same MobileMe account for years. Since transfering to iCloud, however, we can no longer maintain separate identities. When he sets his card in Address Book by selecting "Make This My Card," syncing changes my Address Book so that his card reads "Me" on my computer. This affects numerous applications on our separate devices and confuses us no end. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
I've solved my problem and I think I know what solved it. I read an old discussion (2005, I think) about iChat and the suggestion was to delete my card and reenter it. I did that and everything seems fine. Try that. Good luck.

I would like to be able to select my card and then the 'Card-menu -> Make This My Card' menu-option from within a script, so that I can make sure 'My Card' is always properly defined.

What is "Make this my card" Contacts name selection for?
"Make this my card" adds the legend "Me" against a selected Contacts name. This pegs the name as the sender of emails from a particular computer. I have several Apple devices on my in-house wifi, all having "Contacts" on iCloud. When I select a card, for example on my MacBook Pro, and set my name in "Contacts" to "Make this my card" all my emails, from multiple shared addresses, are sent from my name. Great! Unfortunately, iCloud changes every other devices' "Make this my card" selection to my name as well! This causes emails originated on other devices to be sent in my name! Help.

When I send an iCal appointment via email, the listing always begins (null) followed by the appointment, which means that my name isn't being picked up as the originator of the message. I selected my card in my address book, went to Card and both "Make This My Card" and "Go to My Card" are greyed out, not allowing me to select them. I then went into address book to preferences and checked Vcard/enable private me card and then unchecked it; in both cases it didn't solve the problem. I cannot find anything in the help files.

SteveWell, I have four accounts in my mail.app, but I tried this with only one. If I am in another card, the "Go to My Card" is functional, and I indeed go to my card. So the Address Book seems to recognize the card as my card (and thanks! for getting me over that particular logical hump). This issue then seems to be the assignment of the card between iCal and the Address Book. I couldn't find anything in the iCal preferences, etc. that would allow me to either assignment myself as the owner of the calendar or link to the vCard in the Address Book.

Why won't Address Book save "make this my card"?
Mail has suddenly quit retaining my card as "me" no matter how often I re-select it. Even keeping Address Book open and minimized while I work does not do the trick. I also run Entourage and use it as my principal mail and address book & calendar; however, Safari's AutoFill won't work off the saved "me card" in Entourage. Anyway, it is a pain. Any suggestions?

I would like to make an SD card with my favorite pics on it for playing in a digital photo frame. Anybody know how to do this or is it not possible?
Sure - read teh Digital Frame manual for the specs on how the photos need to to be formatted and then expor tthem to a desktop folder using those paramters and mount the card to the desktop with a card reader and drag the folder to the card

Somehow the country associated with my account was changed to China. I did not make this change. My credit card information needs to be updated but the system will not let me update either my credit card information or the country back to the United States. My updated credit card information is not accepted because the country is China. It will not allow me to change the country until the credit card information is changed. Help!!!

Make a bus card from scratch in MS word: mac
This might not be the right place to post this, but here goes....
I installed MS office 2008 on my mac, and wanted to create a business card in word... but its proving to be more difficult than I thought. The only way I knew how to start was with a template under the publishing elements. There are only three designs, none of which I want, so I started with the template and tried to change the background, etc., but that's easier said than done.
I ended up just pasting a new background over the old in the first business card slot, but the others did not follow. When I've done this with other software, there's a basic blank template for bus cards that you can customize easily, with formatting options like "add background," which when utilized are replicated on every business card in the document. Why is this version of word making this task so tricky? I hope its just me, and there is an easy way to do this....
How can I make a bus card from scratch, add my own design, etc.?

To configure VOIP for this 2FXO card
We are having one Cisco 3640 Router with One Serial Port and 2FXS(2nos) Voice card. We have configured the 2FXO card to the best of our knowledge. These 2 ports are configured in EPABX. Now we are able to get the dialtone but we are unable to make calls to US . Kindly let me know the commands to configure VOIP for this 2FXO card.

IPad Screen Recorder, will it take Apple modifying iOS to make this possible without jailbreaking?
Is there something in IOS that makes it impossible to create a Display / Screen Recorder, without jailbreaking?
I see more and more apps that have built-in screen recording capabilities into their applications. Mostly in Educational Apps and a few drawing apps:
ExplainEverything, ShowMe, ScreenChomp, and Brushes to name a few. However there are no Apps that can create a screencast of you working on your iPad without jailbreaking. Initially I thought it was the lack of mutlitasking but that was mostly taken care of with the iPad 2. Yet there are still no Apps that can perform screen recordings of the iPad.
Apple before every developer attempts to create this within their own Apps some well and some badly, wouldn't it make sense to have an Apple developed or Apple / TechSmith partnership to create an iPad Screen Recording capability in the iPad 1, iPad 2 and all future iPads.
It is a post PC world and I shouldn't have to connect my iPad to my MacBook or PC just to capture my iPad screen (Not just an Image, but real-time screen recording). Even an external piece of hardware small, inexpensivew with either an SD card or SSD Drive for storage that plugs into the iPads and iPhones would be better than nothing. A software App that runs on the iPad is the ideal. So before this type of Universal App can be created, is there something that Apple needs to do or provide hooks for to make this happen.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -

I would like my children to have the own apple accounts, without having to lie about there age. I personally have no interest in buying music at this time and want them to have there own accounts. Help make this happen. Tks
I believe that if they are not old enough for an own account, it isn't possible.
If you really don't want to lie about their age, you could make your own account and let them use it. Be sure your bank account isn't linked to it, because little children tend to innocently buy all kinds off stuff. (you could use a iTunes gift card)
lying about age is quite common, Apple can do not much about it, but only, if your children see for them harming content, Apple can't be blamed.
If someone knows much better, you better trust him, I do not know most of these kind of things
