Make to order, no safety stock.

Dear All,
I have 1 finish good X, made from materials X and Y. I set safety stock for X and Y.
When I make A to stock, I need safety stock of X, Y; I create demand and run MPS, MPR -> ok.
But when I make A to order, don't need safety stock of X, Y. How to do that ?
ngocvt.

Ngoc,
Well, I am confused.
I have 1 finish good X, made from materials X and Y.
Recursive Bill of materials?  Or maybe you mean your finished good is 'A'?
When I make A to stock, I need safety stock of X, Y
OK, put safety stock into  the Material Masters of x & y.
But when I make A to order, don't need safety stock of X, Y.
First, tell me how are you making A as MTS one day and MTO the next?
Safety stock is not dependent upon the source of the demand, it is generally used to ensure a higher level of availability of components to meet business requirements during unexpected events (such as a demand generated by an unexpectedly large sales order, or a production failure of X or y).  Generally, if you need safety stock for X and Y, the need doesn't go away just because you have one parent that is MTO and another that is MTS.  You either need safety stock to meet unexpected events, or you don't.

  • Make to order ,sales from stock

    Hi,
What are the important differences between make to order and sales from stock? with respect to availability, scheduling and customer stock
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Make to order is when you manufacture or procure the material only upon order. Stocks are not maintained for those items in the storage loc. As & when the order comes, a production run is triggered through MRP. After the production, stock is posted as reserved sales order stock. Stock is then made available to fulfill the delivery.
Other items are make to stock. Usually for fast moving or consumer goods, stocks are always mainatined in the plant storage loc. As & when the order comes, availability check is done. If stock is available to meet the delivery date, delivery is proceesed or a confirmed delievry date is proposed basing on the replenishment lead time in availability check.

  • Suppression of Re-Order Point Safety Stock Exception Messages

    Hi There!
    Hope someone can help!?
I need to be able to suppress MRP Exception Message 96 - Qty Under Safety Stock but for PD Only.
    Is this possible?
    Cheers,
    Karl

    Hi There!
We have lots of Raw materials controlled by MRP Type PD, which have Safety Stock Value.
However, quite often although the actual stock is lower than the Safety stock Planners have lots of messages (96 - Below safety stocks). However, although Purchase order reciepts may be late, there isn't actually a problem. As When the PO Reciepts actually happen there is enough stock to satisfy actual demand.
We would like to put many of these Raw materials on Re-Order Point Planning, and manage. But we would like to ignore the (96 - Below Safety Stock) for Normal Items.
Hence, Planners have exception messages for REAL Priorities.
    Hope this explains all!
    Cheers,

  • Subcontracting availibility check on make to order stock

    Dear All,
I have a material let's say  'X' which with a BOM/routing which includes a subcontracting step of material "Y" which is a also a make to stock item. When I create a sales order for material X and run a Plannings run I first produce material Y. Because it's a make to order item the stock it will be customer specific stock. The next step is to send material Y away to the subcontrator, in order to complete material X. However when a create a subcontracting PO and wants to delivery it via transaction ME2O I get the error message that there is no stock available. The reason for this is that teh availibilty check doesn't check the Make to order stock quantities.
I have treid several option but i am Not able to let sap to check the make to order stock when creating a subcontracting delivery. What I am missing or is this not supported by standard SAP?
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear All,
Thanks for your replies but it doesn't solve my problem because when creating a delivery SAP still uses the normal availability check (B) and not the client specific availability check (BE).
Just for the clarification the underlying material is a client specific item (with special stock indicator E) that needs to be send to the subcontractor. However the administrative stock of this material is stored as client specific and won't be picked up when we make a subcontracting delivery because the standard process use availability check B instead of BE.
Like I mentioned maybe it is not foreseen in the standard functionality.

  • CIF Exit for updating APO field SAFETY STOCK METHOD from R/3.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement for updating filed "Safety stock Method " in APO from R/3.
We can do it through transactions CFM1 and then CFM2 in R/3.
This happens when we make changes in MM02 in R/3,
    for fields,
In ECC, Goto MRP2 view in material master
    Safety stock (EISBE)
    Safety time/act cov. (SHZET)
    STime period profile (SHPRO)
Currently, we are using a exit : Exit_saplcmat_001,
but it only gets triggered when we make changes in safety stock and safety time.
where as if we make changes only in STime period profile, and don't make any change in safety stock and safety time,
in this case the exit is not triggered.
Now, we are looking for an exit, which will get triggered even when there is no change in safety stock and safety time,
where as there is change in STime period profile.
Please suggest what can be used.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rahul A

    Hi,
You may need to include the field in some structure also.
eg.  for sales order interface we add z fields to  structure /SAPAPO/KOMGO

  • Make to Order Inventory migration

    Hi MM gurus,
Would request for some suggestions on cutover migration of inventory involved from one SAP system to other SAP system.
Particularly for a Make to Order scenario where stock after production is linked to a specific Sales Order. What should be preferable hierarchy of migration? Are sales Orders required before migrating SO linked sales stocks. Is their some better way of doing it.
Request for some helpful inks to inventory migration best practices.
    - Ashish

The approach in Cutover Strategy always Includes creation of Open Orders be it Purchase orders, Sales Orders, Project, Production Order etc.
Since the Inventory is Sales Order Stock, hence you should first get the open sales orders created in the new system then you can use 561E for initial entry of Sales Order Stock

  • How to make MRP run based on Target Safety stock

    Dear Experts,
For our MRP-planned materials with safety stock we would like MRP run to take into account  target stock level defined for each month.
    for example: we know the target stock level values will be for M1 = 1000, M2 = 0, M+3 = 5000 etc.
MRP should then propose orders to replenish up to the target stock level at the end of each month:
needs for current month = (target stock level defined for current month  minus safety stock)
needs for M1 = (target stock level defined M1 minus safety stock)
needs for M2 = (target stock level defined for M2 minus safety stock)
    etc
Do you know if there is any simple way to achieve this?
    Thanks you!
    Elynn

    Dear Experts,
in my company, we are facing exactly the same issue,  we would like the MRP to consider a target stock exaclty as described by Elynn.     To be more clear, if we could reproduce the TDSS like in SNP in MRP, we'll be happy !.
We imagine already to manage the target stock level in APO DP and released into ECC6 as a different MRP element than Forecast.  this target stock should not be considered as forecast neither consumed by any sales order.   Only to force the MRP to generate planned orders to increase the final stock when needed.  This is only an idea, we have nothing tested yet.
someone have an idea if there's a standard solution for make this ?  I mean, why this fonctionality exist in SNP but not in MRP?
    thanks for any help

  • Safety Stock Not Being Released To Cover New Sales Orders Or Forecast

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to get safety stock at the lower levels of the BOM to get released for upper level sales order or forecast demand without having to adjust the effectively out to a future date?
    Example:
A = Finish goods item with two weeks lead time
B= component of A and it has two weeks lead time
C= component of B and has 10 weeks lead time.
Have safety stock hard coded with an effective date of today for 100,000 units.
I have 100,000 in inventory and I have planned orders to cover all my demands and future safety stock requirements for the next ten weeks.
I receive a new sales order for 50,000 units with a customer request date five weeks out.
I am getting ATP dates to assign to the new sales order 14 weeks out versus allowing me to use 50,000 units from the safety stock to schedule in week five?
Even If I schedule the sales order for five weeks, because I have gone down two levels to confirm that I have safety stock, and It could be used, planned orders would not get generated at the next two levels, because the demand date on the safety stock is earlier than the demand date for the new order?
Is there any resolution that anyone has found that addresses this issue?
We have set a demand priority rule on the ASCP plan options tab to "Sales Order Priority" where we have set criteria for number one to "Sales Orders & MDS Entries Priority" and number two to "Schedule Date".
We have found that adjusting the supply and demand dates out to cover the full 14 week period does reduce the safety stock at the lower levels, but it also creates additional starts and inventory to be put into the line, which makes this approach not feasible.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? We do not build safety stock for the sake of building safety stock. We want it to be used for any sales order or forecast demand that comes within the planning horizon.
    Appreciate any inputs.
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Try this note suggestion, possibly help you in resolving your issue.
How to Avoid Getting Safety Stock Replenishment Too Early in an ASCP Plan [ID 301629.1]
In order to line up the safety stock supply with the changes in safety stock, a combination of the profiles must be used:
MSC: Use FIFO Pegging as yes
    and the plan option
Peg Supplies by Demand Priority is checked.
The profile MSC: Use FIFO Pegging as yes will perform the following:
For all demands and supplies, it proceeds item by item and
pegs supplies to demands on a daily basis. Daily supplies
and demands are not sorted. When supplies or demands
on a given date are used up, it picks from supplies or
demands on the next date. The unpegged supplies are
    pegged to excess.
The peg supplies by demand priority combined with the profile above will prevent the system to plan ahead for safety stock.
Also no safety stock smoothing is setup.
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    1. Please set the profile:
MSC: Use FIFO Pegging as yes and
    2. Under the plan settings in the main tab the set the following options:
    Enable Pegging ON
Peg Supplies by Demand Priority ON

  • Make To Order - Commitment qty is 0 even if material on stock

    Folks,
We are using Make to order with strategy group 82 (Assembly processing) requirement type is KMFA and class is 201. The availability check in material master is set to '02' individual requirements.
The KMAT has about 100 components. Of 100 components about 10 are set to 'KP' - no check. the rest are set to '02' - individual requirements in the MRP3 view.
On creating the sales order, the components with no availability check have the right committed qty whereas the rest shows 0 .(Eventhough there are enough stock) and are shown as missing parts. (the commitment date deaults to 12/31/9999)
I tried using Movement type 412 E to post the components in to sales order stock. It worked. But there are 100s of components and 100s of orders. We cannot afford to issue the components manually for each and every order.
Is there any way we could achieve this at one step? (like either posting to the order or reservation?)  Am I missing something in the set up?
    Helpful answers will be rewarded.

MRP 4 view "2" was missing in individual/Collective reqmts.

  • You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock - Message no. CO684

    Hi,
During conversion of planned order to production order in variant configuration scenario I am getting following error message....
You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock
    Message no. CO684
    Diagnosis
The component cannot be allocated to an individual stock because make-to-order production and engineer-to-order production cannot be executed with this order.
A possible cause is that you are trying to create an order with reference to a sales-order/project, where an account assignment to a sales order/project is not allowed in the settlement profile that is assigned to the chosen order type. This is inconsistent.
    System response
    The following responses are possible:
    Order processing is canceled.
The system resets the special stock indicator back to the original value.
    Procedure
    Choose another order type.
Any ideas or suggestions to correct this issue..

    Hi Pavan,
This is one of the most common problem comes during MTO execution. And the real problem is massage no itself because you will get the same massage no. for many reason and that's it becomes more difficult to find out root cause.
    Check below threads and settings,
    - Order type for MTO is not maintain in Production scheduling Profile.Go OPKP or CORY and maintain Order type for MTO to it.

  • Message " You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock"

    Hi,
i'm trying to create a production order for a specific material, but I get this error message:
"The component cannot be allocated to an individual stock because make-to-order production and engineer-to-order production cannot be executed with this order.

I have checked the settlement profile and valid receivers: "G/L account" and "sales order" are set to 1 "Settlement Optional".
    Which can be the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis.

    Hi,
in the allocation structure assigned in the settlement rule, is there an assignment for receiver category "SDI" (Sales Order Item) maintained? If not  thats the reason.

  • Make to order stock delivery issue

    hi sap guys
i m creating delivery for make to order stock, when after creating order i try to do vl01n it gives error that * No deliveryrelated items ,no shedule lines due for given date
and  in sales order when i check shedule line  it shows confirm quanty 0 .
so plse help- wht could be the reason for this
is there any settings or different item category
    points will be rewarded

First create an order and save. As it is an Make-to-order item, a Assembly order is generated from the Sales order, which you can find in the Schedule line of item > "Procurement" .
Click on the" procurement" button below the screen, there you will find a Assembly order no.
Presently ,you do not have stock of the MTO material. Once it is assembled, you will receive into your stock against this assembly order.
So, receive the stock in your plant.
Now if you will check the availability, you will find stock is available under "Sales order stock".
You can go for Picking & then PGI.
After PGI, the MTO stock (Sales order stock) is finished, beacuse we do not produce extra as it can not be supplied to other customer.

  • Make-to-order: COPS for  KMAT materials (Non-valuated sales stock)

    Hello,
We are working with KMAT configurable material (i.e. non valuated sales order stock).
The client is requiring that inventory of these KMAT material should be shown in the financial accounting;however as we work with KMAT, this seems not possible.
    The whole process is:
    - taking of the sales order with the configuration
    - MRP and Production order Execution
    - Settlement of the PO to the sales order
    - Settlement of the Sales orden to a given account in FI (just like "stock for customer order") - inventory.
The problem we are facing now is how to make the compensation of this account once the product is delivered.
It seems the sales order's default settlement receiver is only the PSG. can we have to use the result analysis key to calculate the cost of sales, and which valuation method can we use if I only want to settle the actual cost that settled from the production order.
By the way, I have search for the notes:Note 26459  it seems we have to run the sales cost estimate first for the KMAT.
    Summary
    Symptom
It is not possible to perform results analysis on sales order items with materials of material type KMAT.
    Additional key words
    Transactions KKA3, KKAK
    Cause and prerequisites
In make-to-order production, the inventory and the cost of sales are not posted through goods movements because the materials are managed in a non-valuated sales order stock. The only way to create postings in FI is to use results analysis (see Note 26456). If the sales order item consists of a material of material type KMAT, results analysis is not possible because no cost estimate exists for this material.
    Solution
Results analysis must be performed with a valuation method that uses profit basis C. With this profit basis, the system uses the planned costs of the production orders for the sales order instead of a cost estimate for the KMAT material.
In Release 2.2 a modification is needed for this which is described in Note 25772. In Release 3.0 this function is provided as standard.
From 3.0C onwards the planned costs of the sales order can also be calculated in a product cost estimate for the sales order. You should use profit basis E in this case.
However, if you are using assembly processing with production orders, you can only use profit basis C.
Hope the scenario is clear. Perhaps you have a different approach to work with KMAT materials.

    Hi Friends,
Can you please provide the solution for my problem and its slight urgent.
