Make X have the tidy appearance of XFCE without installing/running it?
I'm running fluxbox on my personal laptop, but I have XFCE4 installed on my girlfriend's computer. All of her GTK apps look so nice. Just about everything on it is very appealing. Is there some sort of skin, neat trick, etc. that I could incorporate into what I am using to get the same appearance?
Try a few GTK themes, specifically the one(s) XFCE is using, and see which one(s) you like.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
Can someone make iBooks have the Option to view 2 pages in landscape mode so it can use up all the pixel real estate?
Apple usually does this for OSX and its great when compared to windows where it doesnt use up all the real estate for viewing applications like websites and pdf files but when it comes to iBooks, it feels like there is no apple touch to it and is limited.
If steve jobs were still alive, i bet there wouldnt be this problem >.>
Please consider this as a real problem for people out there who would like to see 2 pages in landscape mode with pdf files and not just epub files.

I have the same photo in more that one event. I would like to only have the photo appear in one event.
Then do not import it more than once in the future For now you can simply delete one of them and empty the iPhoto trash

I have the 1st generation ipod touch i installed an update which now it is 3.1.3 version i was able to put my apps on it but when i want to use the apps it will not let me use them. What do i need to do?
Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod. -
in iPhoto, I want to copy certain photos in an event and then have the copies in another event WITHOUT removing the original photos from their original event; how to do that?
The only way to do that is to export the image to a new file and then re-import it.
It's not really the intended way of working as it uses twice the disk space and is inefficient.
Use Albums instead. A Photo can be in any number of albums and use no extra disk space as it just simply references the image in the Library. Albums can be sorted any way you want - including manaually - and can have image from anywhere in the Library just by drag and drop. -

I don't have the up to date system requirements to run iCloud on my mac but would still like to access my email on my mac. I think I need to update my settings, but am not sure what to do. Can anyone help. thanks

If you haven't done so already you need to migrate your mail account to iCloud first and do so IMMEDIATELY at the website Move
Then
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

I understand that you are getting the message in YouCam that" you do not have the compatible VGA hardware or driver to run YouCam".
If you check Device Manager, you should be able to locate the Webcam and then install or update a driver for it.
You can run HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates and drivers.
Have you tried troubleshooting the device through Windows?
To assist you further I will require more information.
What exact model of HP notebook do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What Operating System are you running?

If I choose a Theme for the appearance of my Gmail Inbox, using my Dell Inspiron computer running on Windows 7, the new Theme appears on my other computer running on XP, but not on my Dell!
On my Dell, all the messages in the Inbox are separated by a black line, in fact yjere are many black lines and no colors shown on the Windows 7 Dell. This was not there from the beginning, but came about z week ago.It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. How do I call a sub vi and have the window appear in a certain location that I specify?
I have a vi that will be used to control a robot. I am using a sub vi that is a sort of joystick-drag the mouse to move the robot. This pops up as a dialog when the user moves the mouse over a graph, but it appears in the middle of the screen. I want it to appear right over the graph in the main vi so that, effectively, the user only sees the one graph (it is next covered with the sub-vi which has exactly the same appearance). I need a way to force the sub-vi's window to appear in an exact spot in relation to the main vi. Is this possible? How is it done?
I saw something on this site already, but was unable to find it a second time...something involving queues?

SeanIf you're on LabView 7.0, look at the new sub-panels. If not, look at the Ghost in the Machine.vi VI Server example program that shipped with LabView 6. To find the example in LabView 6, from any VI window goto Help >> Find Examples >> Search and enter VI Server in the box labeled Type a keyword to find. The example uses property nodes on the front panel with properties like FP.Bounds and Disp.WkSpace. There's also FP.Origin.

How can I edit a photo in Photoshop Elements and have the edit appear in Windows 7, My Pictures?
In Windows XP Pro, any edit I made to a photo in Photoshop Elements 10 appeared automatically in that photo in My Pictures. This does not happen in my new Windows 7 computer. Can I change that and have the edit from PE10 appear in My Documents/My Pictures?

File >> Save As

For any given Bookmarks folder, is it possible to have the subfolders all appear *above* the individual links (as they do in Internet Explorer), rather than mixed together alphabetically? (Or is there perhaps an add-on that will allow me to do this?)
Provisional solution is to place one or more zeros in front of your folder names, that way they should always appear on top in their alphabetical order.
