  • Quicktime Export for iWeb

Last year I ran Quicktime Pro and flip4mac to open a WMV file and export it to a small format that I could quickly place in iWeb.
I tried it this year using the new QuickTime...and I don't see an export option.
I tried "save as" and "Save for web" option but could not figure out where to go from there.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Phil

If by "new QuickTime", you are referring to QuickTime X Player in Snow Leopard, you will need to use QuickTime 7 Player, which should be in your Applications/Utilities folder if you installed SL as an upgrade to your 10.5 installation. QuickTime X Player does not, at least at this time, have much in the way of export options.

  • Optimizing Quicktime Movies for iWeb 08- HOW?

    Hello,
Question about converting a movie I made for my web site uploading to my .Mac account - using iWeb 08.
When the full quality movie is open in Quicktime Pro, and you click on export for web, you get this info box saying this:
In the same folder as this instructional HTML file, QuickTime Pro has placed various versions of your movie optimized for web-delivery. Also in that folder is a reference movie, which selects the best version for your users' various devices and connection speeds. By including this reference movie in your HTML page, you can ensure a quality video experience on your site.
THEN IT GOES ON TO SAY...
Use the following HTML code to embed your movie into your web page.
    Important Notes:
•To make your media viewable on the internet, your media assets (movies, poster image) must be placed on a publicly accessable server.
•The URL parameters must be modified if your media assets are served from a different location than your web page.
•The movie URL parameters must always point to the reference movie (Fluid-Cam Test.mov) rather than a source movie.
•The reference movie must be kept in the same folder as the source movies.
•Source movie names cannot be changed, but you can change the name of the reference movie (remember to change it in the HTML code as well).
•Please note, to properly validate as XHTML, the <style> tag and the first <script> tag should be placed within your page's <head> tag.
•Use this code in the <head> of your web page:
(AND THEN THERE IS A BUNCH OF CODE AFTER ALL THIS- WHICH I DIDN'T BOTHER TO TYPE HERE OF COURSE)
There are no instructions (that I can find) explaining where this code goes, which optimizes your movie for various formats. You can't drag and drop this whole folder into an iWeb Movie page.
So where do you copy and paste this code in iWeb, that Quicktime creates from your movie?
    Any input is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    - TEXASFLOOD

Best way I know is to put the movie into Iphoto, select it, go to "share" and choose to iweb. It will go straight to a new page in iweb which you can rename and include in your site.

  • Cant Capture Screen Recordings with QuickTime Player for making  App Previews

cant Capture Screen Recordings with QuickTime Player for making  App Previews
    went into that page:
    https://developer.apple.com/app-store/app-previews/imovie/Creating-App-Previews- with-iMovie.pdf
upgraded to quick time 7 pro
    got stuck here:
" 4. In the window that appears, select your iOS device as the Camera and Microphone input source".
the window appeared, no selection is possible

The instructions in the Developer page you link contemplates that you are using the QTX version instead of QT7 Pro:
    vs.
QT7 Pro does not allow selection of iOS devices as the Camera and Microphone
 input source.
QTX is the QT version included with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and later.  However, as explained in the Developer page you linked above, if your Mac is not already using it, you need to upgrade to the current (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) OS X Version to use iOS devices as the recording sources in QTX.

  • Autoplay audio files in IWeb (pre-'08)

Hello, I am a new user of IWeb and, while I find it very easy to use, I am baffled about how to add music to a page. My aim is to add the song (taken from Itunes so presumably correctly formated) in such a way that it will play automatically when the page is loaded. I am correct in assuming that this function (autoplay) is not available in IWeb earlier than the '08 version?
Any feedback will be much appreciated.
    Thank you,

See this article: _Add music and Popup windows to an iWeb created website_. Note what chapter 7 there says about iTunes music.

I don't think that "autoplay" per se is the problem — it's more to do with the fact that iWeb '06 doesn't give you the tools to +easily set up+ autoplay — such as iWeb 08's +HTML Snippet+ window and the QuickTime tab in iWeb 08's Inspector. Adding HTML in iWeb '06 is explained in this article: _iWeb FAQ - (alternative) Adding HTML_.
It's not quite what you want, but take a look at Apple's "My iTunes widget". But again, this would be much easier to incorporate into your site using iWeb 08's +HTML Snippet+ window.

  • Iphoto slideshow exported for iweb viewed by windows

I have been trying to publish an iphoto slideshow that I had exported as a movie for weeks. My mac people can see it, my PC family members cannot! I tried to make it small for the web, changed the filename to mp4 from mpv4, but PC people still could not see it. So I tried to put the slideshow movie in as a huge .mpeg and it disappeared. ( I had made an avi file but it looked horrible so used the equally as large but better ,mpeg)
I am getting the idea that it can only be done with imovie! Is than an authoritative step by step on iphoto 08,quicktime pro, and Iweb so I can put all these things together?

Don't use the Finder to change the file extension. Not only is it folly but it breaks the links used in your iWeb page code.
Don't use AVI. It is a dead container discontinued by its authors (Microsoft) years ago.
    Don't use MPEG-1 (1991 format).
Default exports from iPhoto to QuickTime formats use the newer H.264 video codec which requires any machine (Mac or PC) have QuickTime version 7 installed. If they can't install version 7 they can't view your file.

  • Drop Down Menus for iWeb: Will They EVER Come?

I've got several websites that I need to update, and frankly probably rebuild from scratch.
I am considering moving them to iWeb. However, the ONLY reason I have not switched over yet is the unavailability of easy WYSIWYG drop down menus for iWeb. It's safe to say that if there was a seamlessly integrated way to create these, I would have started publishing at least four different sites with iWeb...YEARS ago.
So, now, faced with the choice again, the drop down menus question is before me again.
Please understand: I know and understand the various ways they can be manually created. That's now what I'm asking.
What I'm asking is for people's opinion: What's the likelihood that Apple will ever add this functionality to iWeb itself?
If so, any likelihood of this happening soon?
Because if they don't, I then have to make a choice to go through the long and arduous task of manually creating the menus for several sites (and making sure their perfect before we "go live" with the new versions...) And I'll have to weigh whether or not I want to bother with that.
Obviously, I am intentionally asking for your conjectures, unless some of you would like to dish on stuff you know.
    Thanks in advance.

iWeb is discontinued, so the likelihood that it gets the menus you want is rather slim.
And yes, there is a seamless way to add them.

  • Optimize video for iWeb

Earlier tonight I created my first vlog in iMovie. Originally, I used the "Share > iWeb" menu item to export my video, and was pleased to see a page waiting for me in iWeb with my movie already placed in it.
However, when I published this 10 Mb beast, I was surprised to see the big blue Quicktime Q sitting where my (I thought) streaming video was supposed to be. So I waited, and waited, even on broadband. Eventually the movie appeared with controls to press play.
I like Q as much as the next letter of the alphabet, but I wanted streaming video. I'd like to see iLife/iWeb support this in future releases/updates. For now, however, you can create a good streaming presentation by using the "File > Export" menu item, then choosing "Expert" from the "Compress movie for:" drop down menu. Click Share, and in the next dialogue box, click the "options" button next to the "Export" field. Once you do this, you can set your movie's size, audio quality, and most importantly, you can check the "prepare for internet streaming" box and select "Fast Start" or "Fast Start - Compressed Header". Incidentally, this also reduced the file size of my movie from 10 megs to 3.4... and the quality appeared to be about the same on playback.
I say good instead of great streaming presentation because although I've used this method recently to create streaming video that auto-starts like Apple's movie trailers do (like it's supposed to do in Quicktime), video in iWeb does not auto-start as soon as enough of the video is downloaded to begin. The user still has to click play. But at least they get visual feedback... they see a play button and can track the download. Without a "please wait" disclaimer (and don't we all love those) that big blue Q, especially on a 10 Mb movie file, is just going to leave people thinking there's nothing to see and moving on. Even on broadband.

oh how smug i was when after uploading my 10mb monster and looking at a big blue Q, realised an export option was compression for streaming exactly like yourself.
was most disappionted when it made no difference, hope apple change that soon as the movie was the best bit of my site!

  • Caution:buying themes for iWeb in MAS can be a problem

A few weeks ago I bought Themes for iWeb, and it just didn't work. I asked for help from the developers, but then the changes totally destroyed iWeb and my site.
I now notice another themes for iweb on the Mac App Store and all the reviews say it not only doesn't work, it does the same thing for iweb in Lion. Read all the reviews and the warning from Apple to get a feel for problems that can arise.
I don't blame developers, other than for the fact they should have tested it out. I suspect that last update from Apple for iWeb made it functional in Lion, but without its code, no themes will be working.
Now, I love iWeb, but seeing the handwriting and all, am moving to another website creator. Considering how much trouble I had with the destruction of my site, I want to warn off people from buying any themes package that doesn't clearly say it has been tested in Lion.
    Hugh

I just reinstalled iweb and the updates. Actually, it may be a blessing as it will force me to redo the site and check every link. In the last year a few just don't work anymore.
I find that I can copy and paste pretty well from the site still on the web, and use the old video from YouTube.
Some stuff is gone, but all in all, it was an interesting lesson.
I got cocky because I knew the trick of making sure I duplicated and saved the domainsites file.
I know I had at least one sitesfile that was original and perfect, but didn't work.
    Oh well.
I really do like iweb. Now I think I will not be the first to download software again.
In fairness, while the software didn't work, I did play around in the application support, iweb, themes section a lot more than I should have.

  • Quicktime searches for cd and dvd players

    Hi,
I'm new in this forum. forgive me if I'm making some mistake.
I've got a problem with the starting of Quicktime player for windows. When I first start Quicktime after the launch of windows it always searches for some file in the cd rome and dvd players. Only when I put a cd and a dvd into the players it allows me to open the regular movies. How can I get rid of this problem that bothers me a lot?
    Thanks for help
      Windows XP

I really believe the best way is to save the project as a disk image and burn that as slowly as possible using either the disk utility or Toast™.
Also, (very important) I'd use Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R 4X.

  • Quicktime PlugInHelper for MacBook Pro?

    Hi there --
Is there a QuickTime PlugInHelper for download that works with the Intel MacBook Pro?
If not, is one expected anytime soon? If yes, when? If not, why not?
I have PlugInHelper for Windows working but the Mac version will not run on my MBP.
    Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas on making this work?

  • Proper way to export for iWeb usage

I'm trying to get my short film or even a trailer of it into iWeb. The film itself is about 12 mins and the .mov file created when I exported it as a Quicktime movie is 670MB. I shortened it down to about a minute trailer. The corresponding .mov files for Quicktime export and Quicktime conversion were about 187MB and 65MB respectively. It seems that for iWeb to play the film it needs to be a mere 10MB. Sure enough the film stutters and stops and is unwatchable. Suggestions? Thanks. Fred

    Try this work flow.
Export using quicktime conversion, change the settings to match these.
    Compression Type = H.264
    Frame Rate = Current
    Key Frame = 24
    Frame Reorder = yes
Data Rate = Restrict bit rate to 1500 kbits/sec (this is important for web videos, keeps the file sizes small, while still maintaining, video quality)
    Quality = High
    Encoding = Best (multi-pass)
Dimensions = 853x480 (I shoot in HD 1080, and have found that on the web, 853x480 looks best, if you need other dimensions you can pick one of the presets that suits you video or experiment till you find what looks best)
Sound ACC, 48.000khz, stereo, bit rate 128kbps
Prepare for internet streaming = Fast Start
This should reduce your files to a manageable size. The iWeb 10MB warning is just that, a warning. I have several videos on my site that are 100mb and larger. I build on iWeb and upload to a third party FTP server. Feel free to check out my results at
    www.karma180.com
    A bit of info about youTube. As I understand it, the current upload limits for youTube are;
    Video Length = 10 Minutes
    File Size = 1 gig
Youtube uses their own compression, so send them the highest quality file you can, they prefer these Video Formats: H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4
So stay under 10 minutes and try to export a big file thats under 1 gig and your videos will look spectacular on You Tube.
Ok, I hope that helps. Good Luck
    John

  • Autoplay QuickTimes from Compressor

Is it possible to create an autoplay QuickTime using Compressor. I normally would have used Cleaner Pro, but it does not seem to like H264 at all.
Essentially I am attempting to recreate the set-up used on the Apple Trailer site, where you click on an image and instead of embedding the video in the HTML, i want it to launch QuickTime Player (externally) and autoplay from there.
i have worked throug all of the <PARAM NAME="autoplay" VALUE="true" > tags, but for some reason, it does not parse these parameters through to QT player.
    Anything I am missing here?
    Cheers
    Al

Apple is now using JavaScript, because of how Internet Exploder is handling QuickTime.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/embed.html
Check out the JavaScript and HTML source of one of the HD trailer pages.
Download the source and exsample files from the following website, and I think you will get exactly what you need:

  • Quicktime plugin for screen capture does not work in flash player 11.2

    Hello,
I have created a quicktime plugin (it is .component file) for screen sharing purpose.
I have used quicktime framework for that. plugin is detected in flash player.
This plugin is working perfectly for flash player 11 and below. But,
It does not working in latest flash player 11.2.
I have seen following error on console -
Google Chrome Helper EH[240:e92b] *** QTCaptureSession warning:
Session received the following error while decompressing video:
    Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-8974
"The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -8974.)".
Make sure that the formats of all video outputs are properly configured
Note - Compression format used in plugin is kBMPCodecType.
    Please, help me.

The issue ended up being the change in resolution to my external monitor. Flash was unable to detect the proper coordinates of the color I was trying to select because I was running my monitor in HD mode rather than selecting an actual resolution from my monitor preferences. Changing the settings to an acutal resolution, instead of generic "HD mode" fixed the issue.

  • Is Apple about to introduce a replacement for iWeb?? and where can I download iWeb to replace the one I lost??

Having spent a little time searching for a replacement download for iWeb (details of why below)  it seems that I cannot find it anywhere in Apple Land.  From my limited experience here (iphone,  macbook pro, airport extreme and airport express)  it looks like Apple gradually withdraws stuff prior to introducing something really exciting  to replace it.
    So
Question:   Is there a new super replacement for iWeb about to be introduced?
I cannot believe that Apple would take away something as great as iWeb (having read reviews and used it myself as a complete web novice)  without giving us something better.
I foolishly followed some genius advice and did a wipe/reload of Lion, prior to updating to Mountain Lion (my fault, I thought my lovely Macbook Pro was running a little slow - probably wasnt - just me being impatient.) Anyway, long story short,  I lost iphoto (got it back by re-purchasing but would like a refund - another string running with this),   iWeb - can't find it anywhere - asked questions here in Apple Land and am getting some conflicting answers.
I am sat in London without my iweb for a some days and would really like to get on with a bit of web stuff.
Question:  is there anywhere in Apple Land where I can download iWeb
Question:  can you confirm that the iweb programme will be on one of the disks that came with the machine?   (they are 100 miles away so I will have to wait, unless there is an easier way)
    Sorry,  rambling a bit.
Hope you can help out there
    Thanks
    Steve

The iWeb application was specifically created to be used with .Mac and then MobileMe and Apple withdrew support for iWeb several months ago, when it was announced that MobileMe would be no longer and would be replaced by iCloud.  MobileMe ceased at the end of June this year and has been replaced by iCloud, that does not offer web hosting, so no need for iWeb.
Apple stopped selling iWeb in its stores several months ago and has withdrawn support for iWeb, so no, you won't find either iWeb or iDVD for sale in the Mac App Store because Apple no longer sells it.
You cannot download iWeb, so if you want iWeb, you will have to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and this contains iWeb 09 which is the latest version of iWeb.  Apple does not sell this either.
If your Mac was running Snow Leopard, then it would have come with installation CD's, so yes, you should be able to re-load the whole of the iLife series, which includes iWeb, iDVD and iPhoto back onto your Mac running Mountain Lion.  You did not need to make an additional purcahse of iPhoto from the Mac App Store - you could have re-loaded from these CD's.  The only place you will get a refund is by contacting the Mac App Store. Nobody here can help you with that.
So if you want iWeb back, check to see if it is on you installation CD's - it should be if you have a Mac running Snow Leopard and put it back on your Mac from there.  If not, then your only option is to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and you can load iWeb from there.
As Apple no longer supports iWeb and there is no MobileMe any longer, then there are unikely to be any further updates to the programme and nothing else will come along.  You can still use the app though if you have it and it works with Mountain Lion, however, there may come a time when it won't work with future iOS updates, so it would pay you to look at the alternatives out there which are many and varied.  Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, Flux 4 etc.  You can download free trials of most and some are for sale in the Mac App Store.
Also, please be advised that this is a user to user forum and everyone here who replies to you is a user, so you are not talking directly to Apple here.
Give Apple feedback directly by going to http://www.apple.com/feedback.
