Making a collage & copying to flash drive

I have photoshop 9 and am making a collage of my grandkids for calendars. I am trying to copy it to a flash drive, but it copies the whole organizer. What do I do?

If you saved your collage layers as a PSD file, the easiest method is to open it again in Full Edit and the use the menu:
File >> Save As
Choose jpeg as the file format and then navigate to your flash drive and save.

  • The changed picture description in iPhoto doesn't copy to flash drive, reverts o original img number

for easier access i changed indiviual picture descriptions from original img numbers to dates eg 14-01-01.  this shows on iphoto okay. when i copy to a flashdrive, the date reverts to he image number.  how can i save changes?

Unless you held down the Command key when dragging the iPhoto Library package to the flash drive you only copied the library.  How is the flash drive formatted?  If it was not OS X Extended (journaled) the integrity of the library's internal structure was probably compromised.
If you don't have a current backup of your library do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Why won't folder contents copy to flash drive

When copying a file to a flash drive, I get an error saying the folder is already on the flash drive and won't copy anything except the folder itself, no contents.

I get the same error message, or one similar when trying yo copy to any other drive, external, flash, and from a flash to my external. This just started a couple of weeks ago. Never had a problem before. Not possible to reformat all my externals and flash drives.

  • USB copying to flash Drive very slow suddenly!

    hi
i just got my brand new macbook and the ipod touch and so far i love my new mac experience at first i copied my music( 5 GB) on a flash drive and copied it to my macbook and ipod since they both r 2.0 usb they did it pretty fast!
later i was copying the same stuff to the same flash drive and it took me 2 hours to do that the ipod still syncs at a good speed but i don't know if the problem is in the drive or the laptop
i have the same problem on my windows xp machine which has 1.1 usb but the it's much slower than it's supposed to be!
i've searched the forums and other guys have the same thing but no solution !
i swithced to mac to get over windows problems but i'm starting to get disappointed!
any help would be appreciated and plz give me some advice on how to handle the new keyboard! and anything mac
    thanks !

I have been experiencing the same problem with an Intel iMac 17" here. I use a variety of external powered hard drives and flash drives via USB. I notice last month that transfer speeds had dropped considerably. That and the fact it had been a year or so since I had last reinstalled prompted me to completely wipe out and reinstall the OS (10.5).
After a complete erase and install, with all current updates applied as of this date, the problem still persists. For example, I have my iTunes library on an external self-powered hard drive. Playing songs is fine, but video is unwatchable. Just now, I attempted to copy a movie file (approx. 700 mb) to a USB flash drive. The reported transfer time was 5 hours!! This is true across the board for me, no matter how the configuration is, be it devices connected directly to the machine's own USB ports or through a powered hub, having self-power or powered through the port.
This problem has only started for me in the last couple of months, with regular updates applied as they came out. Resetting the SMC has also not worked.

  • Copy iphoto images to flash drive to pc

I scuba dive and download my pictures to my iBook. I like to edit them on my PC. How do I copy the jpegs to my flash drive to import to pc? I notice there are data folders and thumb folders. Can someone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
The easiest and safest way is to open iPhoto select image > Share > Export Option... make a folder on your desktop and export to here, afterwards simply copy to flash drive. I do this everytime I need to go between PC and Mac...
I suggest you use the Flash Drive FIRST on the PC, it will automatically be formatted so you can use on both machines.

  • How to save your photos to a usb flash drive

Hi, I was wondering how I can remove my Photos using a usb flash drive. I know I can save them in the Cloud and prefer not too. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

You're going to need a computer to do this, no direct way. For instance you could send them to Dropbox, then from there use a computer to download the files from Dropbox to a flash. Or use a WiFi transfer App on the iPad to send the photos to a computer than has the desktop version of the App, and then copy to flash drive.

  • HELP: Shut Down Leads to Flash Drive Panic

While using the program yesterday, it shut down on me twice unexpectedly.  The shut down happened while attempting to save my creatives.  I was saving my creatives to a flash drive and now my flash drive is "not readable".  Anyone know what has happened?  What I can do?

Don't ever save to a Flash drive. Save to hard drive and copy to flash drive. This applies to all apps, but the bigger the stuff you save the higher the chances of catastrophe.

  • Flash drive windows on X40

I have an IBM X40 with a failed HDD and no way to hook up a cd drive, i was just wondering if there would be some way for me to install windows onto a flash drive and have the laptop boot from the flash drive, yes the bios does support booting from a flashdrive and i know how to make it boot from a flashdrive, so really i am asking whether i can install windows onto a flashdrive. I have heard of it being done but i have had no success with doing it myself, also i don't care that it would be unbearable slow and i would be installing windows XP Pro. I have a 4gb  flashdrive.

you would be much better off buying a cheap external drive at walmart or kmart or best buy or staples or whatever dept. store you have around.  i assume you have access to another computer to copy the flash drive, right?  what i'm getting at is you will have to reinstall all the drivers anyway and doing that with a flash drive will be lots of fun.  you should download all the drivers on disk first. the cd will attach by your usb port. they are cheap nowadays. i guess i'm assuming that your usb ports work though. if they don't you can get an adapter card that plugs into the pc slot that has usb ports in it although they will only be 1.1 ports.  the ports on your machine are 2.0.  i cloned a hard drive once through a 1.1 port and it took 6 hours. it takes 20 min. through a 2.0 port.

  • I converted aif files to mp3 files in I tunes so I could put them on a flash drive.  Now when I transfer an album to the flash drive I get both the aif files and the mp3 files in the flash drive.  How do I get the iTunes to only copy the smaller file?

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules.  You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

  • HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool  to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

  • My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my com

My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my computer and load them in my LR. The photos appear but witthout any editing or tagging. We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. This seems hard. We need advice on if it is at all possible to have two computers simultaneously working on LR . I bought her her own version because I was told at the time of purchasing that that was the only way to share. Please advise urgently! Thanks.

Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

  • How and where can i get an os installer file to copy to a flash drive

I replaced a bad hard drive for a friend and need an os to copy to a flash drive cause her cd/dvd is not working

You purchase the OS, then clone it to the flash drive like here. If we knew what OS you were planning to use, then we could be more specific about what to do.
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
       2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
       3. Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.
Make your own Mavericks flash drive installer using the Mavericks tool:
You can also create a Mavericks flash drive installer via the Terminal. Mavericks has its own built-in installer maker you use via the Terminal:
You will need a freshly partitioned and formatted USB flash drive with at least 8GBs. Leave the name of the flash drive at the system default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy this command line after the prompt in the Terminal's window:
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen so be careful to enter it correctly. Press RETURN, again.
Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time.

  • How do I copy my entire iTunes library to a USB Flash Drive?!

I'm trying to copy my iTunes Music Library to a Flash Drive, and having difficulties copying the entire library to the flash drive.
    Any help?!

How big is the flash drive? How big is the iTunes folder? If there is enough room it should just be a case of copying the folder from <User's Music> to the flash drive.
