Making a copy on 5740

Mom lives in another state and is having trouble making a copy. The error message is as follows: "Copy odes not support Statement. Load a supported size paper in the tray to continue". How do I help her? What does this mean. The following steps have been already taken:
1. reset the paper
2. reset the paper sliders
3. turn off and on

Hi @etcantu
Do you know if your mom has the HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer or the older HP Deskjet 5740 Color Inkjet Printer?
Assuming she has the newer Officejet model, Statement (U.S. Statement: 140 x 216 mm /5.5 x 8.5 inches) is a supported paper size for printing, but the issue may be that the copy menu does not support such a size. Please have her try copying a standard 8.5x11 to test the copy feature. If this works, the issue is simply a limitation of the printer. If she still can not copy, with standard letter paper (8.5x11) then the issue might be something different.

  • I have files in my iTunes media folder that somehow are not in my library. How do I get iTunes to scan my media folder and add missing files to my library without making a copy of each file in the same location?

I have files in my iTunes media folder that somehow are not in my library. How do I get iTunes to scan my media folder and add missing files to my library without making a copy of each file in the same location? If I use add file / folder to library, it scans the folder and then makes a copy of any file that is not in my library in the exact same location; I recal in older versions of iTunes being able to just drag my media folder into my library and it would update missing links.

Only the songs that are connected to iTunes will be copied when you consolidate to a new folder.
Splitting the media folder away from the usual location makes it harder to move iTunes in the future.
Are you go move everything back once you've tidied up or are you going to leave it that way? Either way I'd recommend you create an iTunes folder at the new location, an iTunes Media folder inside that, and consolidate to this new iTunes Media folder. You should also use the option File > LIbrary > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder"> if you have not already done so.

  • Check this out: making a copy of an array of objects

I have an array of objects called Figs of type Figure and I am making a copy of this array called OriginalFigs so later when Figs change, I can use the original values stored in OriginalFigs.
But I found out that when values in Figs change, values in OriginalFigs also change.
I tried to store values in Vector too but even in Vector values are changing.
seems like they both are storing reference to Figs and when Figs change , they(Vector and OriginalFigs) chnage too.
Is there any way to come around this problem?
if u know then plz share with me..........

    Hi,
how do you copy them - if you use the method from Object(? was it there, never use this), you will get a shallow copy - that is a new object with the same references in it - not a new object with new objects of the figures in it.
How about providing a methode in your figure-objects which can do a total copy? - This must be easy as so you know how to construct such an object efficiently.
Another way to hold a copy is to write the figures out to a stream temporarily - all objects are serializable and so they can be stored to a stream - but your figures should not have references to other parts of the program in it, because the serialisation-process tries to serialize all references the object has, that is to be serialized. If there is for exampe a link to the main JFrame in it, the serialisation process tries to store your hole program to the stream and this may be impossible - I hat this with parts of a JTree that refuse to be stored to a stream.
    Hope, this will help

  • Is making a copy of a DVD as good quality as burning another original?

I am transfering old video tape onto DVD.  When finished, I will have a dozen different DVDs.  I want to give copies to my family for Christmas.  Burning the first 12 and then making copies seems to be the fastest way to do this.  But will I get a better product if I burn multiple originals from iDVD.
What I don't know is if iDVD is going to render and compress the project for each additional DVD - thus adding hours of production time.  Anyone have a suggestion?

Being digital there should be no quality loss from copy to copy.
The easiest, and quickest, way to burn multiple copies of a DVD is to save the DVD project as a disk image, and burn that in the required number. No rendering is involved.
Bear in mind that your Superdrive can get hot. Give it a rest, and yourself a coffee, after you have burnt 3 or 4 copies!

  • Making a copy of Leopard Install Disk

    Hi there,
A while back I copied the contents of my Leopard install disk by simply dragging the files from the Disk into a new folder on my Desktop with the idea of making a back up copy in case I lost my original DVD. So recently my G4 started to slow up a little so I decided to de-clog it by doing a clean erase and install. However when I double click the "Install Mac OS X.app" icon and a dialogue appears saying:
"The application "Install Mac OS X" cannot be used from this volume. To install Mac OS X, please use the application provided on the Mac OS X installation disc."
So I went to find my original disk and it has simply disappeared.
So my question is If I make a disk image of the copied Leopard disk files that are on my desktop then burn it, can I install then from that Disk.
All and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Unfortunately, your drag & drop backup copy of the OS X install disc is no good. An install disc, like all bootable Mac OS X volumes, contains a bunch of hidden files and directories that are essential for booting, and a Finder drag & drop copy misses all of those. So the backup you thought you made is incomplete, and there's nothing you can do to fix it.
You'll have to get your hands on a replacement set of install discs. If it was a retail Leopard DVD your only option (if it is truly lost) will to be to buy another one, I'm afraid to say.
In the future, a good way to make a backup copy of the Leopard install disc is to use Disk Utility to make a disk image of it. You can then burn a copy of the disk image to a DVD+R DL disc if you want, and boot from that.

  • Is there a way to get elements to reference a file/photo instead of making a copy of the file/photo???

So I have a MBP with a 512GB SSD and my photo library is about 100GB. My music library is about 250GB. Videos make up another 70GB. I just installed Elements 11 photoshop and premiere and I don't have the space for it to duplicate everything. Is there a way to get the program to reference the file instead of making a duplicate/space hogging copy? Help!

For PSE, the only time the organizer makes a copy is if you use the "from iphoto" command, in which case it's necessary because other programs should not write to the iphoto library, a great way to corrupt it and cause loss of photos. For PRE, you should ask in the Premiere Elements forum:

  • Making backup copy of my music library

what's the most efficient way of making a backup copy of my music library? i have a rather extensive library and i want to use as little cds as possible. also, i'm not interested in being able to play the cds on other cd players, i just want a backup copy.

I use an external HD. I had an iMac crash, and fortunately had my iTunes library on an iPod. I used a third party utility to restore the songs from the iPod to the computer, so no harm was done. I plan on using a fire-wire external HD as a backup in the future, however.

  • Making selected copy transfer its characteristics into an already made style

    Hi,
I often have a task of artworking a file from designers into a proper artwork file, where I use a master template with built in stylesheets or styles, as they are called in ID. I always wanted an option to select, say, a heading from a text box and tell it to transfer its characteristics to an already made style on my list.
Example: I copy text boxes from the original design file with all the text broken from their original style (break link to style), effectively making it "No style", into my template and I click in a paragraph and  I want to call it Heading 1, which I already have in my template.
The essence of this need is I use GREP styles in my template, but I don't want the tedious task of manually selecting the font, size, colour and any other characteristic of the selected text into my styles. I want to do two things in one go.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

You're still not entirely clear, Are you saying you want to redfine the style to use the font specs from the unstyled text while retaining other attributes, like GREP and Nested Styles?
If that's the case, redfine the styles first to use the parameters you want, then use Find/Change to find the text that has the parameters you want to assign that style to.

  • Making a copy of a dvd

I created a dvd of some analog home videos using IMovie and IDVD.  I would now like to make extra copies of the dvd I have made.  I followed the steps outlined in Disk Utility Help.  After I created the the disk image I ejected the original DVD, selected the disk image, then Burn, then inserted a blank DVD. However, after burning, DVD player cannot play the disk.  The error message I get is SUPPORTED DISK NOT AVAILABLE.  I've repeated this process three times and now have three unplayable DVDs.   What am I doing wrong?  I am using MAC OS 10.5.8 on my Imac.

Sometimes the drives are sensitive to the certain brands of DVDs. Exactly what DVD's are you using? I've found the easiest (it's time consuming though) method is to create a folder on the desktop then copy the original DVD's files and pasting them into the folder. After all are copied select all the files and folders (Command A) the right click and select Burn. I've also found it's best to have a bland DVD already in the drive when I select Burn.

  • How to access same iPhoto library from MacBook and iPad without making a copy (sync option)

I have a simple question to you guys (tried to sort it out with Apple tech support but no luck there!)
How can I set up iPhoto in a way that I can have access to the same files from iPhoto on MacBook and from iPhoto app on iPad? I do not wish to sync files as this will create a copy of a file and also when for example you do editing of an image on Mac you want that to automatecly reflect on a file being viewed later on on iPad (and the other way around) without the need of a sync. option
I tested this with photo stream but the problem there is that in order to make any changes to an image you HAVE to do it in the library folder you can not do it in the photostream i.e you took a pix on your iPhone, - photostream pushed it to your iPad and to your Mac, - you've desided to let's say to crop the image on Mac then you've closed that image. When then you open the same image on your iPad (or iPhone) the image is not cropped, why? becouse you've edited an image inside the iPhoto library on the Mac and didn't sync it with iPad.
So it would be great if iPhone and Mac worked with the same library - save space and cleaner workflow!

    And again
    there is no solution today
You can not - there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the name
You can sync - you can use PhotoStream - you can not share a library - and IOS devices can not access external hard drives and if they could they can not read the contents of the iPhoto library since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameYou can put your iPhoto library on an external drive if you wish as long as the volmne it is on is formattted Mac OS extended (journaled) - but that does not change the fact that neither the iPad nor the iPhone can access it since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameIt really is extremely simple - you can not do it today

  • HELP!! Making a copy of my RECOVERY DISCS...HELP!!

Hi and thanks for taking the time to help
Well, here is my scenario.  My friend and I both bought the same Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5893.  And of course they both brought recovery discs.
Anyhow, to make a long story short my recovery discs were thrown away by mistake.  And my question is how can I make a copy of his discs in case I need them in the future?
I want to replicate them so that if my system crashes I can use the copies and not have to bother him and plus that way if he looses his or I loose mine we'll have a back-up.
    Thanks for your help!
    Felix H.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try running the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator and make a set from your own system.
Go to "Start - All Programs - Toshiba - Recovery - Recovery Disk Creator".  Information about this normally begins about page 58 to 60 of your User's Guide for information on using the Hard Drive Based Recovery Process and creating the disks.  The User's Guide is found on your hard drive in Adobe Acrobat Format and can be downloaded from the Product Support Link at the top of this page.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Open in Photoshop WITHOUT making a copy in lightroom library

I don't understand why when I choose to open a RAW file in Photoshop from Lightroom I have to create another copy of that image into my library. Many times in my workflow I open a RAW files to copy and paste into another design. I don't want an EXTRA PSD created in my library!

You can also Export your image into a working folder and open it in Photoshop and delete it when finished. That way an additional copy does not get saved to your Lightroom library.

  • Why did finder change some modification dates when making a copy?

I just copied a very large number of files using Finder and I discovered that some modification dates were changed.  For me this wasn't a problem, but it's strange and I don't understand why it happened.  I wonder if anyone else has seen a similar behavior.  Here are the details:
I have a Mac Pro running under OSX 10.7.4 with 15 GB of RAM and 7 hard disks.  The disks details are as follows:
Internal 1 is 500 GB and came with the computer.  It is my boot drive and has a variety of material.  It's about 75% full.
Internal 2 is 1 TB.  It has OSX 10.6.8 on it for use as a repair disk if I need to run TechTools against my main drive or if I need to run SpringCleaning.  It is about 85% full and contains mainly videos of one type or another.
Internal 3 is 2 TB.  It is 98% full and contains mostly .jpg files.  This drive has a single root folder with 3-4 levels of subfolders.  Some subfolders have as many as 5000 folders in them.  The bottom level folders each have anywhere from 20 to 300 files.
Internal 4 is 3 TB.  It was purchased last week because drives 2 and 3 are getting full.  My intent is to copy drive 3 to 4, then copy the data from 2 to 3.  I'll probably retire 2 since my SMART checks are showing problems.
External 1 is 3 TB and is used only for Time Machine to backup internal 1.
External 2 is 4 TB and is used to backup Internal 2 and 3 using ChronoSync.  I'll be changing this to 3 and 4 soon.
4 days ago I installed drive 4 and used Finder to copy the root folder from drive 3 to 4.  That took about a day.  I then ran ChronoSync in Trial Sync mode to see if everything was OK.  (Perhaps I shold have used ChronSync to make the transfer.)  I discovered that about 8,000 files had discrepancies.  I wrote a simple AppleScript to identify any meta data differences between the files on the two drives.  It's been running for about 12 hours and I suspect it will take more than a day to finish.  So far all that script has found are modification date differences.  I've examined about a dozen of the files and they look OK.
Anyone seen anything like this?  Any ideas what happened?  I have three user accounts on this Mac Pro.  The copy was made in one account with nothing else running, but I was doing a variety of work in another account.  The third account was not active.
I just did a better search of this forum and discovered a similar case from 2010.

I just found the following in another thread:
Actually yes. In my case it was my antivirus McAfee doing it. If I copied the files after disabling it, the file dates were preserved.
BTW if only few files are copied, this problem does not arise.
    YMMV.
    --neeraj00
Since I have McAfee installed on my Mac Pro I suspect that was the cause.

  • Help needed for making a copy of a table .

    Hi ,
I have a table , which is consisting for nearly 20 columns .
I want to make a Copy of that table with data or without data anything will be fine .
Please tell me how can i make that ??
Is there any option available for that ??
    Thank you .

    CREATE TABLE MY_COPY AS SELECT * FROM ORIG_TABLE WHERE 1=2;will create a copy of ORIG_TABLE without rows,indexes,constraints.
CREATE TABLE MY_COPY AS SELECT * FROM ORIG_TABLE ;will create a copy of ORIG_TABLE with rows but without indexes and constraints. This would be acceptable if the table is small. Else, create an empty table (as above) and then use
    ALTER TABLE MY_COPY NOLOGGING;
INSERT /*+ APPEND */ INTO MY_COPY SELECT * FROM ORIG_TABLE ;(Optionally, add PARALLEL Hints to the INSERT and SELECT.
You can use Export and Import utilities to create a copy of table with options to include or exclude rows, constraints, indexes.
