Making a DVD copy

I have permission to copy a DVD. It is not a movie, but a seminar. Can you tell me where to find the instructions to do this? So far I have only found instructions for making home movies.
Thank you

I assume that the DVD somehow tracks the copies made.
It doesn't.
The info page discusses starting with a CD that I have made. I did not make this one.
As long as it's not a commercial movie DVD, disregard that.
Can anyone clarify what I need to do to copy this DVD?
See above.
Also, it is a dual layer DVD9
You'll need a dual layer DVD and recorder.

im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player.  i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie.  after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov.  i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players.  what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player.  can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export.  im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time.  please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto.  thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

Thank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players.  thank you again for your reply *=)

  • How to make direct DVD-to-DVD copy?

I'm hoping this is easier than I'm making it. I work for a small theater that films every show in a weekend on 4 camera angles plus a multimedia feed. We record every angle directly to stand-alone DVD recorders (5 DVDs per show).
I get requests from the directors to view the shows each week, and up till now, i've been dutifully using Disk Utility to make an image file of the DVD to the hard drive, then burn a new blank DVD, but this process takes about 25 minutes for every show, not to mention the disk space, and increased requests are making this too time-consuming.
*I've got 2 DVD-writable drives; isn't there a way in OSX to directly copy a non-copy-protected DVD directly to another DVD? Wouldn't that be a big thing on the new Mac Pros that have 2 internal Superdrives? I tried doing it in Finder by copying one DVD and pasting it in the blank DVD, but that didn't work.*
If not, is there software anybody recommends? Nero for the PC does exactly what I want but doesn't come in Mac. I'm not sure if Roxio Toast does it, and I haven't found a demo of anything else that works... (tried Fast DVD Copy, but it won't stop "analyzing media" and "Aimersoft DVD Copy for Mac" doesn't download a file that my mac will open.)
    Thanks for the assistance!
    ~Trav

So far as I can tell (and the only thing that comes up in Disk Utility Help) is the method which requires an image file to be fully written to the Hard Drive and then burned to a blank DVD. I'm hoping to get that down to one step, DVD-to-DVD...
Any thoughts? It seems ludicrous to me that OSX would not have this ability natively.

While making a backup copy in Itunes of my Iphone I receive the following error message: While making a backup copy of this iPhone (-35) an error has occurred.  Do you want to continue with altering this Iphone? When you continue al the material on this Iphone will be lost.
I reinstalled iTunes but that dit not help. After synching iTunes with my iPhone it also asks to authorize my pc and when i Click on ok, it says it is already authorized.
Please can somebody help me, so I can make backup.
    Greetz,
    Derk

It's likely that your backup is corrupt. Try deleting the backup, then right click on the name of the phone in iTunes and choose "back up". To delete go to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. Highlight and delete the most recent backup. Note that sometimes deleting this way leaves some garbage around that can still interfere with a new backup, so you should verify that the backup folder is empty.
    from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system.   Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:  \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:  \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.

  • Is there any way to copy a photo with Lightroom adjustments without making a separate copy?

I do most of my printing from lightroom. I generally set up my image the way I want it for printing on photo paper, and then I make other copies and adjustments for printing on things like Canvas, coffee cups, tiles, etc.
The problem I have is I set up templates in photoshop, say for a coffee cup, which will have the correct dimensions, perhaps some text, etc. To get to the lightroom photo with the lightroom adjustments I have to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments" in photoshop, then copy and paste the image to the template in photoshop. Now I have another copy of the image on my harddrive and in lightroom. So after I copy the image in photoshop, I close it go back to lightroom and delete the copy I just made. Besides the extra fragging on the harddrive this creates, I know I am setting myself to delete the wrong photo by accident through repetition, and it is extra work.
How can get a copy of a photo with Lightroom adjustments to the clipboard without making another physical copy of the photo?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Godspeed,
    Bruce

I may not be the best resource for tiles and cups, I've just started printing to them. Basically I'm doing them using an epson printer with dye sublimation inks printing on transfer paper and then doing the transfer at 400 degrees with a press. I wanted to be able to do my own to get the cost down, and wanted to be able to make it actually usable, (dishwasher safe, etc) so this is the best route I've found. I had to get a new printer, 2 presses, a bulk ink system, and the supplies to print on so it is a pretty hefty up front expense. It can be done cheaper though using a mug wrap heated in an oven (not your cooking oven though). I worked with the folks at Conde to get set up, and they seem pretty good. But I'm still early in the learning curve, so I would be able to tell you a lot more in 6 months.

  • Making a DVD from Keynote

This should be a simple process, but I can't find out how to do it. (I get it to work after hours of trial and error, usually, but this time I'm stuck)
I make a Keynote show - beautiful photos, text, etc - but without the music since I've been told the best way to add the sound is to make a movie first and THEN use that to make the DVD.
I exported the Keynote presentation to Quicktime (iMovie wouldn't take the actual Keytime presentation), and then moved that to iMovie. But it won't let me move the clip below to actually make a movie and add sound.
And I tried moving the Quicktime presentation (of course no sound in this version, but the original has sound) directly to iDVD. It appears on the Media/Movie page but I can't figure where to go from there. Nothing happens.
Sigh. Any help would be appreciate.

This actually is an addendum to my own email since somehow half the message got dropped. Sorry.
Basically I've created a Keynote presentation (lovely photos, text, etc) with the intent of making a DVD to share with my mother who is bedridden.
(In the "olden days" I would just make a slide show in iPhoto, add sound, and burn. But I love whaat Keynote can do, it's just figuring out how to get THAT presentation to a DVD I can play in a regular DVD player.
I didn't include sound on the version I exported to Quicktime since I was told that the best way to make the DVD was to make a Movie first so I could better adjust the sound. So I exported the soundless one to Quicktime and then moved that to iMovie, but couldn't get it to let me move the clip below.
I also tried moving the Quicktime version directly to iDVD. It is there on the Media/Movie page, but I can't get anything to happen after that. (I could easily use the version of my Keynote presentation with sound, if it would let me,, but I understand there is a problem with that too....)
Again, any suggestions would be helpful.

Great hearing for you all! I thought I was all alone this past weekend. I did learn a lot this weekend. I really like the InDesign product.(half-the-battle) But to be helped by the prestigious “Sandee Cohen” was an honor indeed.”  I ordered the InDesign CC today.  Peter, I appreciate all the feedback on Lynda too. They are loaded with lots of good videos. Derek too honed in on one of the most important aspects!  Since I have been working with Word for most of the first portion of the book this will be a big help. I looked at the comments big help ! Thanks a ton ALL!  Have a wonder day or evening whenever you read this reply.

  • Making a DVD without menus

    Hi all,
I'm a newbie to DVD Studio Pro. I'm wondering if there is a way to make the equivalent of an Autostart movie in iDVD. No menu, no buttons – just put the DVD in the player and it starts.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Andrew

    Thanks for that David,
I was trying what you suggest but in the process have hit another problem that is preventing me from making the DVD at all. The audio is not linked with the video. I have a 2-minute movie that I made in Final Cut Pro. The movie plays fine in FCP. To export from FCP, I made a Reference movie via:
File > Export > QuickTime Movie...
    Settings: Current Settings
    Include: Audio & Video
Markers: None (there aren't any in my movie)
In DVD Studio Pro, I clicked on the Import button and selected the .mov file.
Two items appear in the Name column: 2min.mov (Video) and 2min.mov (Audio)
I just don't get it. I've watched Larry Jordan's tutorial video on Lynda.com and am following the instructions to the letter. Do you know where I'm going wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

  • How do I format a DVD copy for multi-zone or Zone 1?

How do I format a DVD copy for multi-zone or Zone 1?
Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.3
I have to send a DVD copy to a festival. They need it formatted for multi-zone or for Zone 1 (North America). How can I make sure it's formatted like that?

I don't claim direct experience with that, but I *believe* (as in "I could be wrong, but")  that if you burn a DVD from inside FCP X, the program will take a clue from the frame rate of your project: a 25fps project will produce a PAL DVD, a 29.97 will do NTSC.
