Is ther anyway to make a file private so that you have to enter your password before someone can open it?

Working from my defective memory, this happened to me, but stopped if I unchecked 'Open safe files after downloading' in Safari Preferences/General.
At least I think that's how I stopped it - it hasn't happened since!

For some reason FCP is now making multi files when I capture called -av

For some reason FCP is now making multi files when I capture called -av
I capture one clip but I get 7 files.

I don't know why this started in recent captures but it is eating up disk space as it is 7 times larger than it needs to be and only the last one works.

Is there a way to get these files to be joined together into one file easily. I capture on a FAT32 hard drive but then transfer the files onto my edit machine and would prefer to keep everything archived there as a single file.
Any programs or scripts that I can use. I have figured out that you can open each file in Quicktime and then save as a self contained file, but I was wondering if there is a better way.

The workaround seems to be to logout then login again. Or some seem to think that you should re-login with the UserName being case sensitive.
I have a hard time duplicating this problem but is does in fact occur and I have a ScreenShot.

I'd like to be able to manage my appointments on a shared calendar by making some events private. This way others that I share my calendar with can't see the details, but they can see the time is unavailable. How can I do this with the icloud calendar?

Purposely making a file difficult to edit, even for root

Is there a way of making a file really difficult to edit, even for root? I wanna stop myself accessing certain sites, like bittorrent trackers etc, and I edit /etc/hosts to redirect these sites to localhost, but I keep just editing this file and commenting out ones when I desperately wanna go look for something (lack of willpower or what *sniff*).
Any ideas?

Printing Stopped - The file '/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/..... could not be ...

I can't get anything to print.
I have reinstalled the OS Yosemite and reinstalled the Kyocera printer driver and also deleted and reassigned the default printer... no luck.
I also repaired permissions several times. Also ran ONYX to run maintenance scripts and repair permissions again etc... still no luck.
I checked my printer IP address and it is set the same as another workers computer next to me. so the settings are not the issue either.

Making Folders and Files Private

Can someone please help me figure out how to lock specific folders/files on my laptop? I understand how to use the access privileges, but this not what I am trying to accomplish. I want to keep my laptop unrestricted (I do not want to use a password to access my laptop), but at the same time I would like to keep some personal information private, so it cannot be accessed by anyone at any time without a password. Is there a way to accomplish this?

You could prevent Spotlight from indexing the contents of the files by renaming them with an extension that no mdimporter parses. But this (& changing the extension back to open it yourself) is a hassle & does not prevent Spotlight from finding the file, just from searching its contents. Together with Spotlight's new abilities to easily build complex searches, it would not be hard to design a search to reveal the files.
But this is not the only reason hiding files in unusual locations is not a good idea. An obvious one is that you (or someone else, since the computer can be used by anyone) might delete it by accident. Another is that it requires some knowledge of safe locations, file system structures, etc.
Mostly though, it is just a very weak form of security that relies on someone else's lack of curiosity to be effective.

This file: /private/tmp/tmpinstallmc.dmg. Is it legit, or not? Is it something I might want to install, or not?

Every few days, I have this disk image labeled simply "Installer" appear on my desktop. By getting info, I find the name of the file is /private/tmp/tmpinstallmc.dmg. Since I have no idea what it is supposed to be installing, I am hesitant to install it. Since lte versions of MacOS 10 have seriously curtailed my ability to mess up my Mac by dinking around in the libraries and private folders, I have so far been unable to find it to remove it.

I Found This on Another Site and followed it step by step and it removed the Installer.dmg from keep popping up. Now I'm asuming at some stage my kids clicked on MacKeeper or something like that and it Added it to a .plist
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked

Errors in making jar file

It is compile without problem. Now I try to make a jar file. First, I made a manifest file as follow:

and I had a carriage return at end of the file. Next, I issue
jar cfm SimpleBean.jar manifest.tmp SimpleBean.class
at the command line, but I got:

Menu Items does not display after Making ARD file

I have created a Addon Which has Five Menu Items. Three Items in Setup->Inventory and Two in Inventory->Inventory Transcation. It will woriking fine when I run my addon from Visual Studio directly But after created ARD file It does not show Menu items. There was no error during making ARD. I tried three times. But result is same it does not show any Menu Items. Plz suggest me Code is given below. I Use VB B1 AddOn Wizard for creating Menu Items This has a seprate addMenu.xml module.

Hi,
Did you included the AddMenus.xml in the extra files when you generated the installer?
The AddMenus.xml file needs to be in the same folder as the addon exe. If there is no AddMenus.xml file there is no error raised, B1DE thinks there are no menus to add.
You have to include all extra files in the installer when you generate it.

In most cases, the file size is primarily directly proportional to the combined total data rate for all data contained in the file. (I.e., if the total data rate of the file is doubled, then the file size is doubled.) So the first step is usually to compare the data rates of the files in question.
The second step would be to compare the compression formats being used. Some compression formats are more efficient than others. (I.e., some compression formats simply operate in different ranges of data rates or may have options and/or settings that tend to vary or limit data rates or vasry the distribution of data within the file.)
Lastly, some compression formats have specific peculiarities depending on how the data is stored or how the file size is calculated/reported.
Once again, since you have provided no specifics here, it is virtually impossible to provide any definitive answer to your question regarding how to change this.

Making bat file in Window Mobile - Oracle application command line

I have Windows mobile 6.I have installed Cre-ME+, & command line.In the command line we need to type below command & execute to load oracle Mobile Application.
Command is : \Windows\CrEme\bin\CrEme.exe -Of -classpath \Windows\CrEme\lib\AWTclasses.zip;\XONTMWA\lib\j4205328.zip oracle.apps.mwa.awt.client.StartGUI
This is working fine.
But proble is making bat/cmd file to excute this application, without type each & everytime.
I know that window mobile won't support bat/cmd file extension. But there may be any other ways.
Please tell me how can i create the bat/cmd file in windows mobile 6.
Please anybody help me out from this issue.

We use a third party application (AppCenter) on our Motorola devices. It's a lock down tool that can present only specific application to the user, and can auto-launch the command line (<filename.lnk> in our scenario).
