Making a frame disappear

Question

Well here is my problem
I have my main class create an opening frame with an image and "Exit" and "Main Menu" buttons.
On the event "Main Menu" I create a new object of my main menu class from within the main class in the Action event method . I want it to be a different size. When it was the same as the opening frame it covered it but I want to either dispose or hide the first frame.
How and where do I do it.

try this
when u create instance of your class in ActionEvent agter the instance write only
this.dispose();
e.g
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
if(e.getSource()==btn){
new YourClass();
this.dispose();
}
