Making a Gallery photo "close up" for viewing

I'm finding something odd on my Droid X. I take a pic. It goes to the gallery. But, when I tap it in the gallery, the screen goes black. If I continue to tap the screen, I get a circle with an "i" in it in the bottom right hand corner, what looks like a slideshow icon in the lower left hand corner, and an HDMI arrow box in the upper left hand corner. Where's the full size pic?
I still haven't been able to figure out how to get a slideshow started. So far, slideshow icons just make for a blank screen.
I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get. This is my 2nd Droid X this month. The first one would stop ringing every now and then. After a couple of hard resets, my phone was replaced with a new one.
Thanks lots
HoundSong

This seems like a system error. A factory reset will restore this back to your phone. The steps to performing the reset are listed below:
1. Hold Home Button and press power (continue to hold until you see the triangle with an asterisk like in step 2)
2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with asterisk
3. Let Go of Home Button and Power
4. Press Search Button (Far Right Button)
5. A blue menu will show at top of page, scroll to Format Device
6. Select Yes to verify
7. Allow format to complete (Information at bottom of page will go through a few steps)
8. Once Format is complete Blue Menu will show at top again, select Reboot
9. Sometimes phone hangs after reboot and will take a while but if no response after 5 - 10 minutes, pull the battery and reinsert. (Device usually starts fine after this

  • Ideal photo size (pixels) for viewing in iPod Touch?

I would like to move some of my photos from iPhoto to my new iPod Touch, but the photos are very large. What would be the ideal high resolution photo size for viewing in the iPod?
    Thanks.

I'm guessing that you are looking for the actual screen size in pixels .. maybe someone will know that but I do know that on the apple site they mention the video being 640x480 pixels, so that might be a size to try.
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/compare-ipod-models/#moreinfo
Though so long as you have it in the same proportions .. when the image should transfer even at higher resolution to the size of the screen and avoid the black bars that I guess is the reason for taking the trouble with this

  • Aperture and photo files unavailable for viewing/editing.

I upgraded to Lion and just went into Aperture to discover my masters can't be located and a hard drive is offline.  The program tells me I have 15,000 files but it won't display most of them...  Any thoughts?

I'm also looking at the P6000 very closely. Apart from lacking 720p video capture, it is the most perfect digital point and shoot ever. The most compelling feature is the ability to control off-camera lighting through CLS.
I wouldn't sweat the . NRW for now. Support will appear in Aperture, I'm sure. Apple has gotten a lot timelier in their RAW support updates lately.
Shooting raw with a point and shoot probably isn't a real big deal anyway. Sure, there's some extra data that won't fit into a JPG, but how important is that for a fixed lens camera? I'll take it if I can get it, sure, but I can definitely live with JPG most of the time on a camera like this.

  • Making Adobe Reader my default application for viewing PDF files.

    Hello,
Can someone help me on this issue. I am trying to put adobe reader as the default pdf application instead of preview. I have tried everything...however when i download a pdf document it only provides me the choice to open with preview.
    Thanks,

Control/click (or right click if you're using a two button mouse) on whatever file you're wanting to change the association to. In the menu that comes up select "Get Info" and another box will open. Down towards the bottom you should see Open with: and a drop down that has suggested apps. If it's in the list select it (if not navigate to it) and then once that file is associated with whatever app. right below you'll see Change All... and select it and now all those file types will open with whatever app you've selected.

  • How can I locate the drop down menu to select thumbnails for viewing my photos?

I am using Microsoft Windows Vista. I select Files> Get photos and Videos> From Files and Folders.  I select my photos and In my views I have a choice of different size icons, list, details and tiles.  The icons are a flower image. When I select an image to view it only appears as an extra large icon on the middle right side of the moniter.  I would like to view the thumbnail of the photo bfore I bring to my organizer.  The drop down menu doesn't have a choice for thumbnail.

Perhaps I need to supply more details.  I am using PSE9.  I haven't any problem importing the images into the Organizer as I just select the Icons and select "Get Media" or "Open" and they transfer over to the Organizer.  I would like to see the image as a thumbnail not an icon when when making the selection.  If I right click them, the Icon, and select open they will open in "Windows Live Photo Gallery".
The icons are now listed on the left  side of the monitor about the right middle it states "Select A File To Preview".  When I select a file (icon) a large file (icon) appears in that area and it should be a thumbnail of the image. Somehow I can't locate the drop down menu taht permits me to make that selection.  I think it has something to do with my files being able to open in Windows Live Photo Gallery when right clicking and select Open.  Is the drop down menu only available in Windows 7?

  • What are the options for viewing photos with Apple TV 2?

I have an old Apple TV, and load the family photos on the Apple TV itself. On the Apple TV 2, I know you can connect to MobileMe and Flickr.
Aside from MobileMe and Flickr, are there other options for viewing photos on the new Apple TV? Can you stream them from a Mac, or can you stream them from an iPhone/iPad?
If so, how is this initiated from the Apple TV, Mac, or iPhone/iPad?

You can stream from a Mac via itunes selection (iPhoto events or a folder) - it has 8GB of solid state temporary storage, but quite how things are cached/flushed from here is a bit of a mystery - you cannot say designate 2GB to hold photos or prioritise photos over other material.
Even rentals seem to flush if you've watched them and they haven't expired - relative fell asleep during a rental yesterday so i suggested she watched it today and it downloaded from scratch again, and the AppleTV hadn't had anything but music playing in the interim. Silly this really. There's a post on another section where someone used 17GB of their data allowance to watch a HD movie as it kept reloading!
Yes you can stream photos from iPod/iPad using Airplay, but to be honest i don't think ATV2 offers that much over ATV1 for photos (yet anyway), and in some ways it's inferior.
ATV2 is far more responsive/uses less power etc but I'm not convinced you get anything groundbeaking unless you have a lot of guests who could use it via Airplay from their iphones (and with ipads currently without cameras, photos would have to come from somewhere else in the first place).

I can view photos of things for sale on Trademe through Internet Explorer, but can only read information through Firefox and cannot see any of the photos of things for sale

Is it possible there is a search set in the Browser for the project with missing images? When I set 1 project to view only 5 starts, all my images will not appear as expected in the Browser since I have not ratings, but selecting the Folder level will display all of them. Check that.

  • Question Aperture as a Browser for Viewing  Photo Library

    Hello,
I am been using Nikon's ViewNX as a browser for viewing photos mainly for workflow.
It is real buggy with Snow Leopard OS 10.6.2 ..... freezing and all. Use Photoshop for adjusting photos.
Question: Is Aperture worthwhile to use for Browsing Photos downloaded from my camera ?
I realize it has a lot of power for editing photos (like photoshop). But I wish to dump the VIEWNX as a photo browser.
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
Hopefully Nikon Software will release a Snow Leopard capable versions in late January (as mentioned on other Nikon-related photog-forums).
I too would like VNX to be solid and work better, and be a more user-friendly intermedium to manage some details while working between NX2 and Aperture.
(Gosh, as a sidenote, can those Aperture engineers make the nav panel fonts any smaller for some of us of strained eyeballs...only kidding Apple, only kidding.)
I do quick n painless edits on "most" of my photos in Aperture (still a newb at it, and just switched from a managed lib to a referenced one), and use NX2 to really pop those few pictures I manage to have composed well.

Can a completed Aperture photo book be placed on a website for viewing by friends?  I already have several copies successsfully printed by Apple?  Thanks. Buzz22

There is no direct web publishing of a book, sorry. But as a work-around: You can print your book to pdf - select it in the book in the Inspecktor panel and use "Print book".  Then select the "PDF" buttun in the print panel and save a pdf file. Upload the pdf to a server for sharing (ftp, Drop box) and send your friends a link or place a link to the file on a webpage.

  • What photo gallery can I use for a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with 1GB memory?

what photo gallery can I use for a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with 1GB memory?

What do you mean by photo gallery?  Are you referring to what version of the iPhoto application?  What version came with your iMac?
iPhoto 8.1.2 would be a good choice for that system and limited amount of memory.  It comes on the iLife 09 disc which is available from 3rd party vendors like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
If you can add memory to your iMac do so.  Increasing memory to 4 GB will do wonders for the speed of the system and applications.

  • Workflow with raw for editing (offline) and JPEG for viewing

    Hello,
Up to this point I have been using both Lightroom and Aperture. I do my editing in Lightroom, my raw files are in indexed in Lightroom's catalog. I then export to JPEGs and store them in Aperture for viewing, (internet) export, archiving etc.
I want to switch to a Lightroom-only workflow, so I have both my raw files and the JPEGs in one application, to minimize maintenance (keywords, collections, etc).
The only issue I cannot seem to work around (and also exists in the current workflow) is that if at some point after the initial JPEG export I reedit a photo, I have to reexport, reimport, add to my stack (different versions of the image), update keywords etc etc.
One obvious solution is not to export to JPEGs and keep the raws always available. But this is not local-space efficient.
Any ideas how to handle this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ahalatsis,
I understand the desire for having copies readily viewable outside Lightroom without having to export every time you wanna look at something. I recommend using a publishing service for accomplishing this goal, if not Lr's native hard drive publishing, then my (Rob Cole) TreeSyncPublisher or Jeffrey Friedl's Collection Publisher.
Note: you can take raws offline after publishing, but they must remain in the catalog for editing...
Whether to re-import jpegs upon publishing is an interesting question - I don't do it, in order to keep Lightroom "originals only", so if I see a photo in Lightroom, I can edit it and publish it without thinking. The downside: I have to use other programs for dealing with those exported jpegs (I use ACDSee for that, among others). So, some people like to re-import exported jpegs, and just be careful not to edit the jpegs - personal preference.
There are some (relatively few) souls who prefer to edit raws, export jpegs back to catalog, then remove raws from catalog and archive them "just in case" (editing jpegs from there on out, if need be). While it's doable, and there are some plusses (e.g. making minor tweaks to such jpegs is very fast compared to raws), I can't recommend it, since it's too limiting, and most people shoot raw to be less limited (for example, re-editing 2003 raws using current (2012) process version).
To be clear: photos do not have to be online for viewing (or editing of metadata) in Lightroom - that's what the "lib" previews are for. And you can even create "smart" previews and then photos don't even have to be online for editing in develop module (or exporting/printing at reduced quality) either. They do have to remain in the catalog though, even if offline.
And to be doubly clear: if you don't have enough space on internal drive(s) for photo files, you can just put them on a big external drive in the first place, and never move them.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Default Program for Viewing Images?

I want to download and try the Photoshop Album Starter Edition while updating my Adobe Reader. BUT, if I don't like it I want to be able to return to using my Windows Photo Gallery. Does the Photoshop Starter Edition automatically set itself as the DEFAULT program for viewing pictures, etc? If so, how do I reset it to my Windows Photo Gallery or other program? Thanks!

    Hi Alan,
To set some program other than Photoshop Album Starter Edition as your default program for viewing images of a particular format, say .jpeg, right click on any .jpeg image and then select "Open with" and then "Choose Program. In the open with dialog box select the application that you want to use for viewing .jpeg images and check the check box at the bottom of the dialog box which says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
    Cheers,

  • Project settings for photo slide show for Elements 9

Hello everyone.    Making a wedding slideshow of photos with pixels set to 1000 x 750 with elements 9.  Which project setting should I choose?  there is so many from the new video camera format, to HD Cameras, flip etc..  Widescreen, Standard, too many to choose but nothing for straight pictures.
output will be computer to LCD screen, also will burn copies for viewing on LCD widescreen TVs via DVD.  Any direction would be appreciated and which setting to choose.  I am at a loss.
    Thanks in advance

I would choose the NTSC (or PAL, if you live in PAL-land) DV Widescreen, based on that target DVD-Video.
With Still Images only, one can then let the output determine the Project.
One additional option, but the 1000 x 750 preculdes that, would be to do an HD Project, as per output to BD. Then, Export/Share that Project as a DV-AVI and Import that into a DV Widescreen Project for the DVD-Video. One would still have the BD, HD Project, should they ever wish to produce a BD.
Now, are the Still Images originally from larger files, say 4000 x 3000? If they are, I would probably go with that HD Project, re-Scale the Stills to 1920 x 1080, or very similar, and work with those. As there ARE more pixels, one consideration would be whether there are too many of the Stills for the particular computer to handle.
I always try to work with the highest def material, that I can, and then down-rez upon Export (with but a few exceptions).
To summarize, either the HD Project (with re-Scaled Stills), and then Exported/Imported into a DV Project for the DVD-Video, or just starting the DV Widescreen, and going straight to DVD-Video would be fine.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
